Over the weekend, just days after announcing a victory over Ford, United Auto Workers (UAW) reached a tentative agreement with Stellantis:
"Once again, we have achieved what just weeks ago we were told was impossible," UAW President Shawn Fain said in a statement.
And this morning we have a tentative agreement between the UAW and GM. That follow-up was fast.
According to the UAW, the tentative agreement with Stellantis includes 25% in base wage increases through April 2028 and will raise the starting wage to more than $30 an hour compounded with estimated cost-of-living allowances.
Stellantis North America COO Mark Stewart in a statement thanked "all the negotiating teams who have worked tirelessly for many weeks to get to this point."
The UAW have the details of the tentative agreement on their website. But a couple of the highlights include ending the two tier system for temps, some workers seeing up to a 168% raise and the right to strike if Stellantis even so much as balks at upholding their end.
The union will present the tentative agreement to the membership and it will open to weeks of discussion and information sessions for the members, who have the ultimate authority to accept or reject the contract.
In the meantime, the workers will return to their job sites and get back to work.
