Stupid Right-Wing Tweets

Let's see. In the four years since Obama took office, the stock market has gone up 54%, corporate profits are at all-time highs and taxes are at historic lows.

America simply can't take much more of Obama's socialism.

If only Obama were more like the rock-ribbed capitalist president who imposed wage and price controls, presided over high tax rates on rich people, was an unabashed Keynesian -- and considered giving out free money to every American family.

Mister, we could use a man like Richard Nixon again.

Words I'm sick and fucking tired of hearing.

Socialist, communist, marxist, job creators, liberty, freedom, taxes, terrorism, terrorists, un-American, big government...

Feel free to add to the list.

Excelsior's picture

those words would definitely be on one of his "never again" lists.

I miss George. The last year's events would have been candy to him.

hahaha. I remember thinking "It could never be worse than this" and "It's got to get better, once we get rid of Tricky Dick!" Boy, was I blinded by youthful optimism.

Me too, but I was blinded by my infant optimism. ;)

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Imagine what the kids back then would've said if told that someday Richard Nixon would look like a flaming liberal.

Well... remember during bu$hCo. he/they kept saying history would be kind to him? Looking back, 50 years hence, bu$h would be remembered as a helluva nice guy? A visionary? Reasonable? Could be prophetic.

You heard it here first. ;)

What Tom Lehrer song are you paraphrasing there? The line originally mentioned Herbert Hoover, but I can't think past it. NOW IT'S STUCK IN MY HEAD.

Help me, somebody!! *pounds on forehead*

ETA: Strike that. I got it. Not Tom Lehrer. The theme song to All in the Family. Don't know how I could've mistaken Carroll O'Connor for Lehrer, but there you are.

I think watching this has scrambled my brains.

Oh, my! Will I get renditioned if I watch it without paying for it? Haven't seen it since I saw it in the theatre way back when (1970s?).

It's not what you think it is. Give it a try. It'll warp yo' tiny little mind.

We could use a man like Herbert Hoover again was a line in the theme to "All in the Family".

That's what I said above. Thanks anyway!

Just being facetious. ;P

(A little funny: all through my teens, I thought that word was pronounced "face-tee-us" because I had only read it in print, never heard it spoken. The first time I actually heard someone say it, I was SO GLAD I'd never had occasion to use it myself!)

They were posted here around New Year. (A lot of titles.)

...And you knew who you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men,
Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.

Didn't need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight,
Gee our old Lasalle ran great,
Those were the days.

I watched that show EVERY week. Carl Reiner was AWESOME.

...that was ROB Reiner on All In The Family. But his dad was pretty awesome in his own right.

WWFSMD?

Jscottfur's picture

...the first couple of seasons, viewers couldn't understand what was being said in the line "Gee put old LaSalle ran great", so they actually re-taped the opening segment for the show in order to enunciate it more clearly.

Now you know....

I find it absolutely hilarious that the right's obsession with socialism is only matched by their ignorance about what socialism is. I make it a point to ask every person I encounter who calls Obama a socialist to tell me what socialism is. I've done this hundreds of times, and have yet to receive a correct answer (most don't even attempt to answer).

Those who attempt to answer usually blather on about social spending and redistribution. Basically they consider any government spending on something they don't like to be socialism. Not fire departments, or roads, or the military by gawd! - I like to point out that the US military is probably the most Marxist institution in America - it provides free food, clothing, bed, roof and medicine, it requires work from its members according to their abilities as it provides those needs, it inculcates a esprit de corps that emphasizes a group identity and group loyalty, and everything is paid for by the taxpayers. ... they hate it when I do that.

The simplest answer to "what is socialism", that the conservatives who accuse Obama, or Democrats, of being socialists never ever get right, is "Public ownership of the means of production".

Socialism is not "the government buying stuff", it is not taxation, it isn't even the social welfare safety net - those things all support capitalism.

Phoenix Justice's picture

They don't care. All they know is that "socialism" is not "capitalism" and thus a scary word. The older generation hears "socialist" and they automatically think "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics" which is exactly what conservatives want them to think.

You know, walking around day to day, I don't consider myself especially intelligent... until I witness how many in the general public think. Then I feel like a frigging genius.

Remember, even if you have average intelligence 50% are below that.

far left loon >.<

Geazer's picture

If you have Median intelligence, half are above, half are below.

In a room with 10 people in it, including 8 with IQs of 95 (Republicans), one IQ of 140 (the lone Democrat), and one Independent with an IQ of 100, the average IQ of the group is 100, which matches the IQ of the Independent. Clearly, more than half of the population of the room is below average. (This also explains a lot about Congress.)

Thus endeth the lesson.

Ever drive on a public road, been in a public library, attend a public school or university? Congratulations, imbecile, you experienced the benefits of SOCIALISM--collective sharing to benefit all in society. But you clueless Neocon morons don't get the concept of sharing, do you?

And again for you mentally deranged right wingers: SOCIALISM IS NOT SOVIET COMMUNISM. Wake the hell up and understand the difference.

Excelsior's picture

You're talking about people who honestly think socialism is the same as fascism. They have no interest in learning any real definitions of these things. They just use all these words as an evil-sounding synonym for "what I don't like". And they're not even clear on what THAT is.

I've never been able to get used to the idea that some people WANT to be stupid. That to some, ignorance is something to be proud of. It's just too bizarre for words. What the hell do they think their god GAVE them a brain for? Storing cheese?

if your photo is really current, you don't look old enough to know any "Truths" and I doubt you could define socialism or identify a socialist if you tripped on one.

But, if you are an evangelical Christian, or even just a reich-wing Repuke freak who is pretending to be a Christian, here's a clue.....Jesus of Nazareth was a socialist and likely a very dark-skinned semite to boot.

Newt had some good advice for you, too: take a bath and get a job.

i dont think its really right either - but by calendar you get 2008,9,10,11,12 from the election date - from inauguration its 2009, 10,11,12. i can understand that mistake :) you are right tho, counting the months in office you only get 36 months. still, 'at the start of his fourth year' and the stupid still hasnt let up.... how long can they last?
