Just finished watching Taxi to the Dark Side. Thanks to the C&Ler that recommended it repeatedly.

This is an essential companion to the discussion on torture, who is responsible and what it got us, cost us. One thing I was surprised is how much information the 2007 documentary had that seems to be "coming out" just now.

Notice the toll it had on our military personnel, especially in the end with the sentences for the crimes they (our fucking military personnel) had to confess to.

That's why I'm hoping conservatives view this. Most of the information was acquired through FIRST HAND accounts of the people there. If they are pro-military, the conservatives should at least lend these soldiers their ear before they go defending torture and the BS techniques that our highest guberment officials ordered.

are technical and not a philosophical questioning of the moral authority of internet blog commentary.

If it is the latter, he can always have his tubes tied.

he should be back tomorrow but in any event the round up will be here. We both consider it very important to share the linky love daily with the smaller traffiked blogs.

Frank Capra's hour long educational movie on our local star.

Popular scientific film directed by Frank Capra that launched the Bell System Science series. Combining animation and live action, Our Mr. Sun uses a scientist-writer team to present information about the sun and its importance to humankind. NOTE: Produced in Technicolor, the film was originally telecast in 1956 and 1957 to 9 million homes; some 600 16mm prints were distributed to schools and community organizations through the Bell Telephone System film libraries.

I'm gonna' keep the URL and send it to my grandnephews.
I actually watched that when it was first on TV - along with most of the other Bell Telephone Co science films. They were great!

And, whaddya' know - all the way back in 1956 we knew that the Sun, solar system and Universe all were created at least (as Dr. Baxter says) "a few billion years ago."

Speaking of movies, has anyone seen Brighton Wok: The Legend of Ganja Boxing

Looks pretty funny.

I am not sure why this is linked. Most of the post seems to be based on the fact that the tax dodging clown had not responded to the original blog which broke the story but instead waited until the news made Olbermann's show. However, at the end Media Gadfly has to update their post by noting that the Teaparty Taxdodger had in fact responded. This fact makes their original post much like an Emily Latella editorial on SNL..."Oh, never mind."

Or until he pays his back taxes, whichever comes first.

Sorry, I'm clarifying that now - it's a poorly phrased update that makes sense to me just because I know what I'm talking about. Teablogging contacted Leahy 24 hours before the post went up, and he responded that he had no comment on the tax dodging issue, also before the post went up.

The update is just intended to clarify the timeline of the Leahy-Teablogging exchange, and that's all - Leahy didn't give a shit about the tax issues until nearly 36 hours after Teablogging (et al) brought them up, at which point he suddenly became the tragic martyr because Keith is a big fat meanie, or something.

the excellent "Skunk runs loose in neighborhood" story.

I am certainly going to follow the lead of someone who chooses to live abroad in commenting on how the US President conducts his business.

But there are any number of reasons why an American citizen would have to live abroad. Work, marriage, foreign service, Peace Corps, whatever. They lose their rights to address the President if they live overseas? A recent study posted at this blog showed many of their votes were not counted in the last election. Maybe that makes you feel better?
