Since Max did an Indiana band for the Music Club, I thought I'd throw in a plug for the Indianapolis Children's Museum, which my kids and I visited just this morning. It rocks. The dinosaurs crashing out of the building (above) is almost as cool as the new installation which will be completed this summer: a full-sized brachiosaurus mother and child peeking under the roof of the atrium entrance. R. Creigh Deeds, a longtime state legislator from rural Bath County, won a stunning come-from-behind victory in the Democratic primary for Virginia governor last night, overwhelming a pair of better-funded and better-positioned opponents.
Deeds beat Brian Moran and Terry McAuliffe in every region of the state, including vote-rich Northern Virginia, despite a pro-gun stance and relatively conservative positions that are out of line with many of the area's voters. His victory was so dominant that he captured 10 of the state's 11 congressional districts, including the one held by Moran's brother, U.S. Rep. James P. Moran Jr.

I always seem to pick the winners.
I voted this morning at 8:10am and was the 11th person at the polls (Seneca Ridge Middle School).
I guess a low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls.
Sarah Palin and her "slutty flight attendant look" calls out Letterman for being "pathetic".
What's the matter, Sarah? Can't take it but can dish out lots of juicy quotes about people "pallin' around with terrorists"?
Nice image of her. Most of us would be in coach if she were in power.
PAH!
We'd be back in horse and buggy!
We'd be behind the horse, but not in the buggy!
You are correct Tim!

Newsweek interviewed MSNBC morning host Joe Scarborough last week, and prominently mentioned when Scarborough defended the murderer of an abortion doctor. That didn't go over well in Scarborough country, so Newsweek editor— and frequent Scarborough guest—Jon Meacham changed it."

But at CNN—and also at HLN (né Headline News), where Lou Dobbs Tonight repeats each weeknight—the nightly slicing and dicing of the 44th president’s economic policies has done little to beef up Mr. Dobbs’ ratings. Instead, Mr. Dobbs’ audience seems to be in decay.
During the month of May, according to The Observer’s analysis of Nielsen data, Mr. Dobbs’ 7 p.m. program on CNN averaged 657,000 total viewers and 181,000 in the key 25-to-54 demographic—numbers that were down a whopping 29 percent and 27 percent, respectively, versus May of 2008. Along the way, Mr. Dobbs sank into third place in his time slot, trailing Fox News’ Shepard Smith by a bundle and MSNBC’s Chris Matthews by a sliver. During three out of the first six weeknights in June, Mr. Dobbs’ place in the standings sank even lower; he finished fourth in the demo, falling behind HLN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell."

Ok, now that I'm done rubbing it in, I'll translate: "There is a God! I can believe in justice again! And [Dobbs finished behind] a Latina no less!"
Well, that made my night. GNA! :D

Perhaps this has been covered in other threads but...
Doesn't the dissenting opinion in the recent judicial bias case really boil down to this:
You have rights as long as they don't inconvenience the system?
There's a thought provoking article in the new Vanity Fair by Joseph Stiglitz, the Nobel Prize winning economist, which evaluates what the current financial situation throughout the world means to America's position in it.
It is worth reading and thinking about, since it lays most of the responsibility on a "free-market economy" as foisted on the world by a greedy and thoughtless Wall Street, which set very different standards for other countries than it adopted for the U.S. This from the article:
So, as our influence in the world diminishes and that of countries like China increases, we are watching a situation where Wall Street has actually been brought in to handle what's wrong with Wall Street. Stiglitz thinks that Americans "will realize that what is required for success is a regime where the roles of market and government are in balance, and where a strong state administers effective regulations. They will realize that the power of special interests must be curbed."
If we do realize this, will we do so too ate in the game to make the kind of recovery which protects our lifestyle and influence? If you realize that of the top 5 banks in the world, the first 4 are Chinese and America has number 5 where it used to be number 1, then you now our position in the "free-market" economy is shaky at best.
And he goes further:
Are we weakening the sense of "global trust" necessary for "global recovery?" Stiglitz thinks so, and I have to agree with him.
Read the article and see what you think.

While the Wingnut refusniks suffer cruelly and are ground down by the the Obama regime, the Gitmo detainees are to be flown to an island paradise to be set free to become human again.
Released free to an island paradise
Temporary !! I don't know about anyone else, but if I was living there, nothing would get me to leave. Once they are outside US jurisdiction, they are free.
The republicans will show us their energy plan today and guess what is a part of it? Yep, drilling in the Alaskan wildlife preserve. Damn! How many times are we going to have to fight that fu*king battle?
Supposedly 75% of the ones in the ANWAR region are slated for culling.
No wolves left, no wildlife 'problem' for people to get all upset about...
No Palin in office, no wildlife problem.

BREAKING NEWS: BIG BREAKTHROUGHS FOR SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE - http://www.opednews.com/articles/BREAKING-NEW...
Less than a month after 13 single payer advocates were arrested protesting the exclusion of single payer, it is at the table in both Houses, making progress while the multi-payer pro-insurance reform is faltering. When we started our campaign one month ago to put single payer national health insurance on the table, we were ignored.
When we stood up and demanded that single payer be part of the debate, we were arrested. Today, single payer is breaking through, while the multi-payer pro-health insurance reform is faltering.
Don't rest now....we need to keep the pressure on them...this is going to scare the crap out of the for-profit 'health' insurance companies & their vile Big Pharma codependents...they will triple their propaganda campaign...
Question for right wingnuts...if 'private care' is so much better....then why do they get to choose your doctors (in network/out of network, whether prescriptions are covered, whether surgery is covered....you moan, bitch, complain about these things happening in 'socialized' medicine (which is exactly what 'shared risk'/insurance is..its in a pot) the only difference apparently is that you prefer some idiot in a cubicle deciding this instead of a 'bureaucrat' (which can be removed from office)....using your fairytale ideology
When will the corporate media release the 2008 Exit Poll Report? - http://www.geocities.com/electionmodel/2008EM...
Here we are in June and still there is no Election 2008 report from the exit pollsters. They released the Election 2004 report on Jan.19, 2005. We have the Final 2008 National Exit Poll (NEP. As usual, it was forced to match the recorded vote: Obama has a 52.9% share and a 9.5 million margin. The NEP indicates a 46/37% split of returning Bush/Kerry voters of the total 131.37 million recorded in 2008.
We are expected to believe that returning Bush voters outnumbered returning Kerry voters by 9% (11.8 million). Is that why the exit pollsters have not released the report? Are they gun shy because it would confirm what we have already calculated using the 2008 National Exit Poll with a revised, plausible returning voter mix: that Obama won by at least double his recorded margin? But let’s not be too hard on the exit pollsters; they work for the MSM.
So releasing the report (and the unadjusted exit poll data) is not their decision to make. The MSM is holding up the works. The corporate consortium that comprises the National Election Pool -- Fox,CNN,CBS,ABC,NBC and AP -- not only hires "the national exit pollster" but also controls the latter's reportage (and, presumably, NON-reportage in 2008) of the "professional's" preliminary and Final exit poll data.
Harkin: Good Policy Vs. Bipartisanship In Health Care Reform - http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2009/06/09/...
The Hill’s J. Taylor Rushing quotes Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) as rejecting the notion that bipartisanship always leads to better policy. If we believe that a public health care plan will reduce health care costs, then we should include it in health reform, whether the Republicans like it or not.
Are they in the photos? Sens. Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham are threatening to use any means possible — including a filibuster — to block the House from overturning their amendment blocking the release of detainee interrogation photos.

Sorry forgot the hacks name but she intervied this creep about his defense of Sarah Palin after he interviewed her about Lettermans comments. Instead of a decent interview the guy went straight for Contessa's and MSNBC's throat.
She called him out, ended the interview and cut the guys mike when he kept up the attack.
