Just like this one.

Vanessa Williams is getting shot at by 6 guys, she runs out of bullets and in comes Arnie - after jumping out of an airplane and nearly crash landing into a junkyard.

Vanessa: You're late.

Arnie: Traffic.

CoIntelPro.PronktasticlyAgainst.SCLM.E-Voting.Incumbents's picture

Vanessa is brilliant, talented and so very womanly. better than halle berry and tyra banks combined.

but that's just me.

h/t to your taste in women leads.

we have a President-Elect of social and moral significance, an answer to neo-Conservatism, who shows we're no longer dunking our heads in the sand like a bunch of ostriches, a man who reflects our modern conditions, who faces with stark realism the problems that confront the average man, a man of dignity, a true canvas of the suffering of humanity.

AND, he's drop dead gorgeous. All that AND a little sex, too!

:)

Is that like a BOB?

In any case, I'm standing in a long line of female admirers, right behind Barbara Walters...

CoIntelPro.PronktasticlyAgainst.SCLM.E-Voting.Incumbents's picture

and you're way ahead of BabaWawa. If you ever saw her in person, you'd know why she's single. She had her face altered for the TV lighting. It's hideous up close.

Nah

He's a bit too skinny for my tastes. Now, give that man about 70 lbs, and DELISH! :-)

MountainMan23's picture

I don't recall any previous President-Elect making so many public statements, using the period between the Election and the Inauguration as an opportunity to speak to the nation and influence events by the force of his character.

Granted, never before have so many channels of communication been available, but there is nothing making him use them.

I am quite impressed.

Democracy is too important to be entrusted to politicians.

Bush is absent and beyond lame duck status, everytime anyone in the current admin opens their yap the economy tanks worse and worse, and whenever Obama speaks, things calm down.

He HAS to do this. And I give him enormous credit for doing so.

It's a more-than-welcome relief - actually it energizing and inspiring.

Some stuff you can't make up!

..but I'm jolly impressed too by President (Elect) Obama.

Haven't felt this calm in eight years, even knowing full well that he's going to have to make some very controversial and ripple-effecting decisions early on in his presidency.

The man seems to possess dollops of balance, humanity and spirituality. His has all the makings of being a very fair and just first term in the Oval Office.

Simple! The man is eager to bring America back from the cold.
I love it!

I have a problem on the weekends. I have broadband through comcast. On weekends I keep getting knocked off my connection. Who is the grand old geek out their that can tell me what is going on. Poor service or what?

MsJoanne's picture

I wish I could help. I ditched Comcast years ago for all their problems.

You are in an apartment complex, it could be drag on their node. The more people on a line slow it down...like lunchtime at a workplace. If that is the case, there is little you can do other than bitch and get them to do a doubler or whatever.

ron's picture

That could be it, but it's not a large apartment house.

CoIntelPro.PronktasticlyAgainst.SCLM.E-Voting.Incumbents's picture

just kidding(a little).

if you can, look into Verizon DSL. (I know, telecom bill and all). but it's your money and one megalomaniac is as bad as the next, but you DO get to vote your own interests with your dollars.

that said, I dropped ATT and picked up Verizon local and my DSL is faster than most broadband and it doesn't get the 'comcast slowdown' because of too many users.

Some stuff you can't make up!

ron's picture

I can't keep switching. Comcast is supposed to be the best around here.

CoIntelPro.PronktasticlyAgainst.SCLM.E-Voting.Incumbents's picture

I had the same problem with my DSL(Embarq), until they changed their security software. Some Saturdays if my internet was working at all it was very slow. Embarq now has a free secuity suite called F-Secure and it works great. Ad-ware and spy-ware are a huge problem when it comes to computer and internet speed. A good security program that is constantly updated is a must.

ron's picture

I'll try everything.

garcia's picture

Hey! Check if your wife is doing some cleaning. I was out for two hours.
I checked everything. She saw me and asked. What are you doing down there.
I said the internet was out. She replied. Ooops! Three minutes later
I was back on the web. I never asked her what happened.

Oh, Garcia, you must ask her! Please, I'm dying of curiosity!

Three Days

This is a pretty chilling explanation on how 10 people killed almost 200 strangers in Mumbai. I try and translate this same hatred being perpetrated in NY or Wash. D.C. even ignoring the possibility of this many innocent Americans being killed, what will the government reaction be to what seems to me be an inevitable terrorist attack? We have generated so much ill will and hatred in the Afghanistan/Iraq/Iran regions of the Middle East that surely the "chickens will be coming home to roost" someday.

Ehh.

I have ComCast too, in Jersey City, New Jersey.
I'm using their 'basic' connection speed (8MBPS advertised, 3-5 MBPS actually delivered).
I switched from Verizon DSL 2 years ago. The Cable connection is so much faster and instantly-on, no login required.

I'd suspect your problem is 'geographic'.

I'm in a high-use cable-internet city but it appears the infrastructure is matched to the demand. That may not be the case where you are.
You may well be experiencing a slow-down due to insufficient infrastructure bandwidth, especially at certain times of the day because there aren;t enough "tubes".

DSL only looks good if the area cable connections are limited.

For myself I haven't looked back since switching from DSL.
I've also had excellent tech support from ComCast which has really surprised me, but again that might be a local factor. I'm very well aware of what Comcast has been up to on the federal level, but I'm forced to "dance with the devil" for now.

ron's picture

They better fix it. I just got back on line the 3rd time since my 1st post.

It's nice to see that there's still a few of us left who aren't afraid to speak up.

I love Obama and want him to succeed, but if I have concerns about him I will be speaking up about it. If someone is offended by that, too bad.

tyree's picture

good afternoon calgary yes i think if we have doubts and questions its only right to want answers and expect a decent government, the republicans trusted and went along with every thing bush wanted, my concern is and has been obamas votes such as fisa ect, he has his chance to make our government better but with the corporations pulling all the strings i have to many doubts, if hes not in thier pockets the first year will tell us one way or another, if he is in the corporations pockets i expect only alibis and excusess by the party faitfull, like you they cant shut me up, ill voice my concerns and they can lump it if they dont like it,

calgarylady's picture

It's unfortunate that some regulars here feel that questioning Obama in any way is forbidden. Trusting Dubya and the criminal cronies in his administration is how we got into this mess in the first place.

jimcarls's picture

Although Preston Sturges made a small collection of masterpieces, this is for me the definitive Sturges film, with an opening scene 40 years ahead of its time, multiple levels of meaning, everything and everyone both conservative and liberal in the crosshairs of his humor and use of my favorite device for satire: a consistently humorous plot that suddenly takes you places you did not expect, leading to an "Oh...wow" moment that you just didn't see coming. If you have not seen this, you have a real treat in store.

Oh, and jeez, guys, are the comments in this thread about as far from the subject as they could possibly be? I mean, try and focus a little...
