Odds and Ends
By David Neiwert Thursday Jul 09, 2009 4:30amTerry's new target: Is anyone else bothered by the fact that Randall Terry plans to lead a rally against the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court at the offices of Dr. George Tiller? Terry, of course, was one of the most rabid voices whipping up hatred of Tiller before his assassination ...
Obama to blame for Palin: This really has to be my favorite right-wing nutcase explanation for Sarah Palin's decision to step down as Alaska's governor, from the nuttiest of them all, Pam Geller:
My take? If Palin is anything like I think she is (know she is), Obama's treasonous presidency is responsible for this. She, like all patriotic Americans, is shocked by what is happening. Obama is destroying this country. She knows it. We all know it. We need a leader. She is answering our call.

Okay...
The odds here.
Okay, so what is Sarah going to do?
- She's no longer governor.
- There are no openings for Congress or Senate in Alaska.
She's going to set phasers to stupid and, also, though, make them listen there, youbetcha.
Well she made he cover of the new Time magazine. Funny how quitting and not doing anything can make you famous.
How many news cycles go by with no mention of Darling Sarah, and then, bam, there she is again; gnashing her pretty little teeth and playing Donna Quixote against the big, bad, liberals - and always the victim.
Yeah, it looks like the only thing Darling Sarah doesn't quit, is self-promoting.
Yes, what Terry is doing does bother me and makes feel a little sick to my stomach. The fu*ker seems to be rubbing our noses in it.
Yes, Sarah saw the bat(shit crazy) ray in the night sky and grabbed her cape and flew to our defense. She came armed with her bullshit gun ready to fling everything at the problem.
Finally, a pat on the back to you, David.
some of what he says makes sense. If you accept that the touchstone issue for him is overturning Roe v. Wade, then he should be opposing any judicial appointment, no matter the appointee's qualifications, if s/he is not willing to go on record opposing Roe. He's right that a lot of GOP politicians run on a right to life platform and get votes and money from pro-lifers, only to place less weight on right to life issues once elected.

sarah palin is the republican answer to Paris Hilton.
That's really low. Paris should rightfully be offended.
... a scandal involving a Sarah Palin sex tape needs to break.
Who would wear the moose suit?
Moose Ziegler.
about this wonderful mother and extremely intelligent progresser of reform in the Upper 1.
Moose sex? Are you moosist?

Check Ys's linky, I notice Moose Mason has a partner named Midge. I am not sure of Moose's sexual preferences, but I am certain that whether Midge is a boy girlfriend (based on Moose's obvious dominance) or the more common variety female, research tells me however sexed, Midge has an unpleasant personality.

Her and David Letterman?
Are these folks going to blame Pres. Obama for EVERYTHING?!?! Come on, this shite is getting real old, real fast!! I'm still trying to figure out how he's "ruining this country". Maybe it WAS Pres. Obama working behind the scenes and NOT Cheney all that time. Cause that's the only way any of this nonsense could be Pres. Obama's fault.
It's her fault for being unqualified and trying to act otherwise.
They have to save some for the Clintons.
It quite disingenuous of the Republicans to blame President Obama for anything when they knew their guys had effed everything so badly beyond repair that they didn't even run a viable Presidential candidate in the last election.
and wandered through the comment section.
Amazingly enough, most of the comments were vigorously claiming, (a little too desperately, imo), that Palin is no quitter!
Nosireebob, our little Sarah didn't actually QUIT just because she's quitting, you see? Anyone but a leftie could see that. She's just so disgusted by Obama that she can't bring herself to do the job anymore.
Pay no attention to the money she's set to rake in now, it's all for love of
Prada, er, country. She's in essence 'sacrificing' herself for the good of the country? Give me a break!
... not-a-quitter / for the good of the country line fits right in with the Teabag Party crowd, where they're busy masturbating to the 2nd Amendment-as-license-for-armed-rebellion.
It's the 'I Alone Knew The Truth And Had The Courage To Act' baloney.
if there weren't so many morons arming themselves and looking for an excuse to kill.
And Darling Sarah, who was so very willing to incite hatred and violence during the campaign, will now be free - and very well paid - to roam the country inciting more hatred and violence.
But she'll look stunning while she does, and that is what matters, isn't it?

I am a little confused about the goal of crooks and liars. During the Bush admin, I could count on video clips/ articles on their crimes and wrong doings but since Obama has taken office, I have seen very few if any critical articles concerning the continuation or expansion of the Bush policies.
Just this week, this administration is putting forth policies that are expanding the indefinite detention policy, even for those who are found innocent or are deemed not a threat. Glenn Greenwald has been writing about these actions at Salon.com, but I see no mention of these atrocities on any of these pages.
Jonathen Turley has spoken to the issue yesterday on his blog...
"The Obama Administration continues its retention and expansion of abusive Bush policies — now clearly Obama policies on indefinite detention and blocking the investigation of war crimes. Jeh Johnson, the Defense Department’s chief lawyer, has stated that it is a “policy question” whether acquitted individuals will be released or held indefinitely.
In May, President Obama announced that he supported indefinite detention of individual in violation of both domestic and international law.
Liberals continue to be largely silent in the face of policies that they once denounced and protested. It is rare to hear any coverage or questions of the Administration’s refusal to investigate war crimes of torture, for example. Liberals seem to be quickly developing a cult of personality that has supplanted the most basic principles of human rights and international law. As with the Republicans under Bush, the Democrats are refusing to push the Administration to investigate torture or comply with international law. Before the inauguration, various generals and senators claimed that Obama and Holder assured them privately that no one would be investigated for torture. It now appears that these stories were likely true. Democrats must choose between their principles and their politicians — and they appear to be making the same choice as their Republican counterparts. "
I expect more than what I am getting from Crooks and Liars. YOU MUST hold this administrations feet to the fire for its continued and expanded abuses held over from the previous administration....See FISA rulings, Bagram prison, Jeremy Scahill's interviews and articles. If you don't, then you are as guilty and shamed as the blind followers of Bush and the Neocons.
... a different site. I see critical articles about Obama all the time.
Which means his expectations for C&L are about as impatient as those of many C&L readers for the Obama administration.
... a certain eau de troll.
Concern troll? If it is not, then the wafting scent of ordinary troll won't bring out the best among us.
I putting out a new men's cologne of my own:
Eau de Man.
I'm sure they'll be a huge demand for it.
Am I the only one who wants to give a dirty snicker to the name Malebolge?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjXkOplqrWo
I have been viewing C&L since mid 2004. Just never registered. I had no real reason to register and leave comments, I appreciated the articles and interviews that were posted because they were needed to keep up with the right wing dominated radio and tv and this was a great resource.
BTW, this is not just my observation, many progressive commentators and writers have made the same observation, that many left leaning blogs or news sites have suddenly grown blinders and gags when it is concerning this administration.
... it's not just me, LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE think the same thing. If you're still reporting something that isn't true (specifically, that the folks here at C&L have a secret love affair with all things Obama), then all it means is that you're ALL wrong.
Comments threads routinely include criticism of the Obama Administration and leading Democrats. In some cases, it's fair criticism; in some cases, it's a little heavy handed.
And I'll tell you what your criticism REALLY adds up to: it's the same club that Rush Limbaugh and others used to create the myth of the MSM. "Oh, you see, they're not covering the REAL story."
is huge and not a whisper on this site.. BTW if you didn't notice, Turley makes the point that the Obama administration would allow indefinite detention for BOTH DOMESTIC and international law...see JOSE PADILLA
There are 3 pages of articles related to keyword PADILLA, from his detention, to open thread discussions, and the role people like John Yoo played in the policies that defined Jose Padilla's treatment.
The more you trot out your 'C&L isn't covering it!' nonsense, the thinner it gets.
Okay, we'll get right on that. To bad you haven't visited this site for about the last three months because if you had you would know what we know that you apparently don't know.
It's those damn known unknowns again!
references to Rumsfeld leading us to known reactions of unknowingness, don't ya know?
I think C&L could be harder on the obama admin, but a simple search, using the term "torture" reveals that you have more of an impression of the truth than you have the truth. try it. heres just a few it took me less than 5 minutes to find.

A Tiny Revolution: Obama's great concern is about the impact on the U.S. public, half of which is already far more interested in accountability for torture than he is, and the other half unwilling or unable to conceive of US torture unless shown pictures. (blog round-up)
note:
Lest you think I'm scouring C&L for exculpatory posts, know that I went as far back as late May 2009 only (less than 2 months). I'm sure if went farther back there would be more.
Now, concerning FISA, wow, C&L was all over that. do your own search for that one.
I might also add that this blog, and virtually every liberal/progressive blog I read has had numerous critical posts about these subjects and others (gay marriage. DADT, health Care). its practically an obsession to hunt for blue dog dems and help fund raise for their opponents around here.

I said shut up! I'm tired of you lefties asking questions! And you progressives. Sit TF down until I give you your marching orders! I'm the commander in chief now.
LOL
OoOkee doughkee
.
So its Obama's fault? Who says the wingnuts cannot adapt to the times? The have moved on from Clinton and now blame Obama. Good for them.
"My take? If Palin is anything like I think she is (know she is), Obama's treasonous presidency is responsible for this. She, like all patriotic Americans, is shocked by what is happening. Obama is destroying this country. She knows it. We all know it. We need a leader. She is answering our call."
I don't get this. I simply cant wrap my brain around such bizarre, convoluted logic. So, because she hates Obama, she's justified in quitting her job and abandoning the people of Alaska?? She hates the President's policies so that justifies dereliction of duty?? That's like saying that, because I hated George Bush and his policies, that it would be ok to quit my job and abandon my responsibilites to my wife who depends upon me. This is absurd on its face, and you would have to be one extremely brain damaged or, at the very least, extremely obtuse individual to agree with such a position. I'll tell you what though, Pam's comments sound suspiciously familiar to the bullshit Rush Lamebrain was pushing in defense of Mark Sanford - another GOP reptile who just decided to up and abandon his duties as governor of his state.
... someone who thinks Sarah Palin is a conscientious, patriotic American?
No, shadowgm, I don't expect anything from such people any longer. You really do have to check your brain to become one of the conservative pod people.
... you just go to sleep, and the alien pod sends out feelers to infiltrate your brain, and you don't feel a thing.
The only side effects are the sudden belief that John McCain knows what he's doing, and that Sarah Palin is totally sexy, I mean, hotter-than-Megan-Fox even.
.
The level of denial is staggering, I challenge any of these witless dittiots to explain EXACTLY what the President has done that is treasonous and how it is destroying the country.
I don’t want to hear any know-nothing crap about 'he's bringing in socialism.' I want one of these so-called patriots to lay the whole nefarious plot out exactly as they claim to see it as to how it will destroy the country.
If they are incapable of explaining how any of our current problems are Obama's fault and not the fault of 8 years of disastrous republican't policy then I will simply assume that these 'people' are engaging in sedition against the government and treat them as such.
If this laughable bullshit isn't enough to prove that all Reslugs are totally lacking what counts, I don't know what is. Why don't Reslugsthink and have a brain of their own and not just keep following and thinking like the same stupid, smelly, bigoted asshole in front of them.
These are the same assholes who intimidated *us* into not marching on Washington when Bush launched his illegal invasion of Iraq?
Never again will we bow to their authoritarianism. I will stand with the Ward Churchill's of the world and stand for what's right, not for avoiding me being called names.
why doesn't everyone who thinks Obama is a "traitor" quit their job? The "real" Americans, whom who try to fool into protesting tax cuts for the wealthy, could use the work.
