For me, Rush Limbaugh being "interviewed" for 30 minutes on Fox News was arguably the greatest advance in jaybird-naked cross-promotion since Mork showed up on Happy Days.

Bwahhahahahah! Thank you. Yet another one from driftglass.
extended in Senate. House supposed to vote today. Prez expected to sign NLT next week.
14 weeks for all states. 20 weeks for states with UE above 9.8%.
One R Senator reminded everybody that "the American people have to realize this is the last extension."
Aimed at all who will lose their benefits NLT 31 Dec 09.
20 weeks from then - 1 Jun 10.
On that day all the jobs will miraculously come back. Hallelulah.
I thought this was going to be a long term disaster.
Good thing it's not....oh wait...it already is...and over 80% of economists believe that the job market won't get any better until 2012.
So....anybody know the best overpass in the country under which to pitch a tent?
Let's all meet there and build outward. The new urban sprawl.
I'll be in the tent with the US flag hung upside down flying but losing altitude sharply from the top.
Oops..didn't mean to do a reply. :/
...the cross-promotion on Happy Days was happened to introduce the spin-off, Mork & Mindy. And that was Mork's second appearance on the show. The first Mork episode on Happy Days, from the previous season, was so popular that Garry Marshall thought the character rated his own show- just as the first appearance of Laverne and Shirley led to it being spun off a few years earlier.
was one of my all-time fave shows. Robin Williams is amazing.
Remember when he saw the eggs in Mindy's fridge and took one out of the carton, flung it up in the air and said something like "Go! Be free!"
Exactly
. . . and Rush's interview was just his visit to old characters from his spin-off of his show, which was, of course, FUX News. (The original episode included Rush imitating and mocking actual news hosts, all the while maintaining he was totally serious. Producers loved the idea, and ran with it.)
Of course, since Rush is the original and FUX the spin-off, I guess this is more like Mary Richards' and Lou Grant's appearance on Rhoda to attend Rhoda's wedding.
You're scaring me Andy K.
Cross-promotion? That totally blows my childhood image out of the water. I'd always thought Mork was a natural progression of the story line. The Fonze, his thumb, and "heeeyyy" had pretty much conquered the solar system by then. Facing Mork and his Nanu-nanu seemed like the next step. Ah, and what a battle it was....
Why didn't Fonzie ever take on Carmine, The Big Ragou?
And the Fonze had a past (I think there was some of the old vo-dee-o-do-do involved) with Laverne, not Shirley, iirc.
I'm just glad he never beat the crap out of Squiggy.
Message to the Dems about NJ + Virginia: It's the youth vote, stupid. The AP already writes Obama's political obituary. The AARP sells out is base again. Apparently, pay-raises are considered "saved jobs" under the stimulus...A university hospital charges parents about $30,000 for the care for their murdered son. And he's a student, too. Gorbie says, if things had gone a different way, "Tear down this wall", would end up leading to WW3. NY goes after Intel for violating antitrust laws. An Italian judge convicts 23 Americans for the CIA kidnap case. JP Morgan's forced to settle for $700 million over bribery charges. Gay rights activists wonder why Obama didn't do more for Maine.
Was a freaking saint.
He had 500,000 troops in East Germany. What do you think Reagan, Bush, or Clinton would have done if insurrection in South Korea led to people rushing the DMZ? Or a populist movement in El Salvador overwhelmed the ruling party?

I created an account just to post it myself. In fact, I can't believe the White House's response:
"The Obama administration has expressed its disappointment at the convictions.
"We are disappointed by the verdicts," state department spokesman Ian Kelly said in Washington.
He declined to comment further pending a written opinion from the judge, but said an appeal was likely." [ From the BBC ]
Good thing we have a Democrat in the White House who is against illegal kidnappings and torture.
Disappointed? Really? This is an f*ing disgraceful response.
These convictions are definitely good news.
I agree, Snowball2, the response from the White House is deplorable.
Very disappointing indeed.
Many times I've wondered what would happen after Spain or Italy (or any other nation) convicts one of the many American War Criminals.
Will their names go on an InterPol Wanted List?
Could an international bounty hunter capture them and transport them to Italy or Spain or whereever for incarceration?
Clearly they're going to have to be careful about any international travel, but I wonder if they're even "safe" here in the US.
I was wondering the same thing.
..going to step up and start doing his job? That too is disgraceful, and I'm more than just disappointed with him.
For that matter, when is something going to be done about all the fundy Repuke appointees that infest the DoJ like a family of cockroaches? It's like a frickin' Regent College alumni club over there.
.................just did what he is expected to do, suck up to the 1%ers!!! What the bloody hell do you think the WALLSTREETBANKSTERS wanted???? SS Chief Cheney to be prosecuted for the carnage? I mean, once a whore, always a whore. Rahmie is going to ´lead' the Democratic party into oblivion, completely taken over by the rats deserting the PUKIE ship.
I am truly reaccessing my evaluation of the WH and the Democratic party, this is starting to look more and more like a continuation of the last Criminal Administration.
More and more support for the Anti American, Anti Constitution and Anti American People who put them there.
Warning to ALL DEM'S your LOCK STEP EUNUNCH approach to The War Criminals last Administration in order to PROTECT various Corporate and INTERNATIONAL person(s) is going to cost you.
As far as emmanuel goes he is a salaried EMPLOYEE not a ELECTED Official do YOU get the IDEA Mr. OBAMA.

Dude, it was very uncool of you to post this without the video:
Mork Meets The Fonz
Please embed this so folks can view and compare!
Thanks, Excelsior!
I think in these tense days of political unrest, we can all use a little Mork from Ork.
Nanu nanu!
I liked happy days and mork and mindy.
I said a while back I was going to post my MRI. Well I was fooling around with the scans and Sony Vegas. Made a real short video, you'll see. The doctor that wrote the Mri official report neglected to write down this break in my thoractic. Since November 2007, I have been trying to get the proper information written down. Well just today, I finally did it. I finally got an orthopedic surgeon to put it on paper today, over 2 years later.
I have a question for a legal expert person! Can I still collect unemployment benifits after I applied for disability? I believe, I am officially, permanantly disabled, starting October 1st 2009..???
The unemployment will pay for my federal taxxes for this year, and maybe just enough to get me to a real spinal surgeon...
Whatever, heres the video of my broken back, that nobody could see for 2 years.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Kp_jvg3-b4
No you cannot. You have to be an able-bodied person seeking work to collect unemployment. careful trying as you may have to pay it back.
Good luck with your medical stuff. I have, most of my family has been dealing with some serious issues lately so I can relate.
So starnge how my last 2 years went. "Their" refusal to put me in a disabled status left me collect unemployment for a long time. I did try to find a job, I am actually still looking for a managment type of postion. I don't want, to not work, I can't take it, just sitting here.
Looking back, if they didn't play the corporate games and just put me on bed rest and got me proper treatment from the begining. It for surely would've been cheaper. The state and Fed ended up paying allot of money for not helping me or protecting me. Retards.
I'm on disability right now, and I've been told by both Unemployment and my worker's comp lawyer that there will be no unemployment benefits for me after my disability runs out...in January. So unless my lawyer can get AIG to cough up benefits for the injury I suffered while working (caused by something I was required by my employer to do) I'll be up Shit Creek without a paddle, as they say.
Ain't America grand?
Sounds to me like you are recieving Workers Comp Benefits?
That should last max 3 years, as far as I know.
I would have got 3200 a month for 3 years, I was denied Workers Compensation. I was fired and told by my Lawyers to apply for unemployment. They have been investigating me since my injury, testing me, hurting me, starving me.
I will get disablility, but I thought there was no limit to the length of time for permanent conditions?
Worst case for me, I get medicare after 2 years and maybe they will pay for my surgery.
Isn't that a bitch, the big corporation I worked for dumped me, lied about me, and refused to help me after thier broken!!! equipment injured me. My health insurence policy was cancelled about 2 weeks after the 6 month window workers comp had a hold on me. They blocked me from proper care, refused to pay up the health care costs, now the TAX payer has to pay for me for life?????? When I want to work, when I paid for health insurence........
I am not sure I would call America Grand.
It is the people running the local government around here, I am not the proper class of citizen to recieve such things like health care, that is reserved for the ultra rich, evanjellokill christians in this area.
It may be a 90 day hold with workers comp stuff, I forgot.
Sounds like you are entitled to that, and Medicare comes with it after a certain time (I think it's 2 years). Perhaps you can sue your employer. What state are you in?
.............get to watch it every nite in Spanish. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, too. It's a gas!!

By DAVID M. HERSZENHORN
The Congressional Budget Office said on Wednesday that an alternative health care bill put forward by House Republicans would have little impact in extending health benefits to the roughly 30 million uninsured Americans, but would reduce average insurance premium costs for people who have coverage.
The Republican bill, which has no chance of passage, would extend insurance coverage to about 3 million people by 2019, and would leave about 52 million people uninsured, the budget office said, meaning the proportion of non-elderly Americans with coverage would remain about the same as now, at roughly 83 percent.
The budget office has said that the Democrats’ health care proposal would extend coverage to 36 million people, meaning that 96 percent of legal residents would have health benefits. The Democrats’ bill would cost $1.1 trillion, with the costs more than covered by revenues from new taxes or cuts in government spending, particularly on Medicare.
House Republicans, including their leader, Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, have said that they did not intend for their legislation to expand insurance coverage, because they viewed that goal as unaffordable. Instead, they said the bill was tailored narrowly to reduce costs.

Next to my house there is a giant Willow tree, over a very old grave yard in front of a church. Just so happens the church rents my parents this house so cheap. The guy who satrted the public school system in the 1800's was barried here. Anybody know who he is/was?
The name of the guy and from what party????
The peak of irony.

is going to be the next Huey Long, hopefully not with the same outcome. I don't want to jinx him by calling him a true Pat**** because I used to call Wellstone that.
I want to thank him for the emphasis on Ginny Brown Waite. She is another gutless wonder Puke.
................who holds the purse strings, will torpedo Grayson ....it's a sure thing. Rahmie is a PUKIE taking over the DNC with his stable of whores. Watch what that ZIONISTWHORE does to Kucinich, Dr. Howard Dean, and all the other 'progressives'. Someone on this site said a few weeks ago, that the DNC treats the progressives just like the PUKIES treat the LunnieTunies of their right. Thank you, whoever it was. Sorry, didn't get your handle, but that was a real insight for me.

For all those who still think Kissinger was worthy of his "Peace" Prize.
but you have to wonder why Robert Parry is the only reporter writing about it. Of course the control of the corporate media might have a lot to do with it. I have watched real news reporting decline for years.
..............is probably the only person alive who is a War Criminal and a ´Peace' prize winner, so the value of that one is nil.

Sorry.
Compulsion took over me. I didn't think about the name part.
My bad. :/
When I was a kid, I thought the Fonz was also Paul Stanley...
Eddie Munster = Billy Idol, yes, but not Fonz = PS. That's great - I was a huge fan of both Happy Days and KISS - never saw the resemblance! (Not to mention Paul's hyper high-pitched voice from the "Alive!" album rants compared with the Fonz's cool "Aaaaayyyyyyy...!")
I had to listen to smarmy Yankees triumphalism today. Apart from the phony Celine Dion wannabe calling Yankees games. those cobags had the audacity to say that only they play baseball "the right way." Sure thing. They did it "the right way" for so long each inning, baseball is going to have to change their rules on mound conferences just to undo the damage that the Yankees have done to the game of baseball this series.
And another thing - the Batting Practice League only has half of its teams with any hope in March. The Senior Circuit only has two utterly hopeless teams in the Pirates and the Nats. I like the NL better for that and other reasons - mainly because the Yankees and Sawx and their overbearing fan bases aren't in it.
Why would anyone want to be like celine dione;
Including celine dione.
Mork was on Happy Days before there was a Mork and Mindy show.
It was because of his popularity that he got his own show.
Like the Fonz on Happy Days and Reverend Jim on Taxi he was meant to be a one shot character.

How can people treat a baby so badly?
80 days of a 10 year prison sentence???

Unclear if the baby had been in the box the whole time, but kidnapping is f*cked. Period.

I watched 'Good Night and Good Luck' last nite. Seems the ranting PUKIES were doing the very same thing they are now doing, which to my mind is pushing, patronizing, and especially promoting FACISM then, too. WOW! What an eye-opener. Murrow even took on the LYING McCarthy!!!, the Beck of the 50´s!!!! As I reviewed Howard Zinn's book, I realized that the Imperial US, spawned by the ´greatest' Empire in the 'civilized' world, good ol' FACIST England, I have come to the conclusiion that the US has always been FACIST! When the greed of the 1% can't be restrained because they 'own' everything, the economy crashes and it always will, and then the true face of FACISM shines thru in the oppression of the common peons. I think the whole world is, in essence, FACIST!!
They said to pick your favorite virtual CNN host to help you win, but Jack Cafferty is conspicuously absent.
Sorry, I ain't playin'.

"When I bring my two brain cells together...the whole country...collaaaapses." - GW Bush
There...fixed it.
What's more, the repubs are proud of this guy and his actions. Had he succeeded in bringing the country down, think how peacock proud they would be then.
maybe now the guy will stop with the beautiful rhetoric and actually start to do something. the election yesterday shows the republican beginning to make some headway. how do they do it. by acting decisively without worrying how it will impact a national picture. our dems are so afraid to make a decisive move, they fall only deeper into the morass.they lack any kind of spine. It's sickening to know that these people are our leaders???
Big deal. With their payroll they should win every year. Of course if they DO start to win it every year, interest in the sport will die off. It is much better for EVERY sport to have even competition and different teams winning championships. If one team becomes to dominant, people stop watching.

It cost them $438 million to buy the players to get them over the top. The taxpayers of New York kicked in to buy them a new stadium, which has ticket prices that are one of the factors that are killing off baseball. Have a nice party, Yankee fans.
Actually, the Yankees picked up a significant portion of the cost of the Stadium. If you want to complain....complain to the Mets who got a sweet deal from the City of NY and then have their fans coming to a park named after a discredited institution.
The Yankees also gifted the land and old stadium site to the city, for conversion to a public park and HS baseball fields.
Citifield sits on municipal land and leased to the Mets for ultimately a pittance.
The Yankmees are bad for baseball; only New Yawkers refuse to see it. They are primarily responsible for the unsustainable escalation in players' salaries that have made a family outing to a MLB game unaffordable for the average American. A salary cap insures a level playing field, without one the Yankmees and their obscene payroll that is 3X the MLB average should win much more often. Wonderful role models they have employed over the years as well, Clemens, Sheffield, Giambi, and on, and on. But A-Roid is a champion at last, so who cares if he cheated for years. And Petite only cheated a little, so that's Ok too.
