Comcast says they will have nothing to do with RightNetwork: UPDATED
Comcast responded to this post, which caused quite a stir in the media yesterday. Their response confirmed to me that they have nothing to do at all with Kelsey Grammer's new right-wing outfit, RightNetwork.
Here is a statement from Comcast to clear up any confusion:
"We have no partnership with this venture and have no plans to launch or distribute the network. As we have done with hundreds of other content providers, we have met with the network’s representatives. We do carry a number of independent networks on Comcast representing a wide variety of interests and diverse viewpoints.”
Keith Olbermann called RightNetwork liars for making a connection between the two.
Olbermann: A head of one of its subsidiaries has some of his own money in the thing, so RightNetwork starts by lying about who's backing it....
As far as I'm concerned Comcast's answer is fine. We'll also definitely be keeping an eye on RightNetwork. It's got a fishy smell to it.
UPDATE: Media Matters actually reads our entire story and then nails Howard Kurtz for misreporting the controversy.!

Douche it...
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
I was thinking to myself that even if the Comcast connection goes nowhere it's great that someone (Karoli) is keeping an eye on these mofo's. Thanks to C&L and Karoli for dogging this issue. It's not over. Reichnetwork is a threat to all of us whether Comcast is involved or not.
The people of privilege will always risk their complete destruction rather than surrender any material part of their advantage." J.K. Galbraith
You mean a conservative network is lying?
Plus, can you name a single time this country was sold out and teh
buttsex/Repugs were not involved? Can't do it, can you? Snicker.
I guess we should praise them for setting the bar higher by lying before they even go on the air.
That shithead sure spawned enough assholes!
"Let's talk dirty to the animals"
Every concession we make to them is of the Dems' free will. You can't blame them 100% if we give in every time.
but what's the point in "RightNetwork"?
I'm not exactly sure what purpose this new network will serve, beyond preaching to an already well-represented choir.
They've already got FOX, Limbaugh, Savage, Will, Boortz, Ingraham, et al. reaching millions of people a day with an "all right-wing, all the time" message--and that's not even counting the hundreds of local right-wing AM talkers across the country.
Is this just some right-wing vanity project funded by a pro sports franchise owner? I don't see the point.
M...O...N...E...Y
Rape the rubes and the sheeple.
"Anyone that makes less than $150K in this country, has no business voting Republican."
but isn't there a saturation point? There's already so much right-wing crap on TV and radio.
It's like opening up yet ANOTHER coffee kiosk here in Seattle. What's the point?
Saturation point? The sheer numbers of potential viewers and subscribers make the model work.
You have how many Americans? You only need to fraction of those folks to make MILLIONS.
Ever see a McDonald's close?
"Anyone that makes less than $150K in this country, has no business voting Republican."
yeah, but it took a maniac shooting up the place and killing 22 people to do it.

But it still reopened down the street.
Long live capitalism.

after Ray Kroc put one across the street and and drove the McDonald brothers out of business.
"There's nothing wrong with the Republican message. America just needs to hear more of it."
When you can't compete on the basis of critical thinking, your only choice is to treat your base like a cult. You appoint your leaders, the Limbaughs and the Becks, and you make sure your adherents get their worldview from them. Make them suspicious and distrustful of any other source.
I talked about this on Nicole Sandler's show yesterday. It gives them an entry point for the disengaged. If you're going to spin propaganda, it works best on an audience that's not entrenched already. It's not going to convert me or you, but that guy who gets a new phone and has this nifty new channel on it? He's an evangelical opportunity.
and definitely the angle I bet.
Fox preaches to the choir (and all those keeping tabs on the insanity) while RightNetwork would be a new gateway drug to the propaganda pipeline
the more they can crowd out any other voice. Loudness is their key weapon. They don't need intellect, reason or anything else. They get enough bullhorns and they'll take over the arena.

It's so cheap to make that you can't help but be wildly profitable. I mean, where else are the boner pills and homeopathic "don't trust doctors" books going to advertise? The advertisers LOVE those programs because their demographics worship authority (contrary to what they claim.)
Another myopic, shit-spouting reich-winger. Too bad.

Yes, always sad when an actor from a show I liked turns out to be a screaming wingnut. I was a big Babylon 5 fan at one point and Jerry Doyle (whose character, Garibaldi, I liked) became a Michael Savage clone.
Of RW celebs ad you'll be VERY depressed. These pieces of filth have been infilitrating the entertainment industry for quite a long time. It's no surprise the US media has come to this sorry state. I'd link to a list, bust don't want to give these RW a-holes any hits. Just Google RW celebs, if you dare.

not that there's anything wrong with that but seems par for the republican't course
Everything that comes out of a Reslugs mouth is a constant, habitual lie.
with RightNetwork.
Then why did they name it RightNetwork? It's just another step in the plan of the Corporate Masters to brainwash the American Public and spread their Reichwing thinking as Mainstream. That's why they want to buy NBC. They'll no doubt turn MSNBC into a Faux sibling.

mainstream network TV before....remember "The Half-Hour News Hour"?
Didn't think so.

Hmm. So, as a Koresh supporter, do you believe he was actually Jesus Christ? What's the fallout for killing him again?

To think the government f'd up in Waco.
Yes, it was a messed up cult. No, the entirety of them, children and all did not deserve to be burned alive.

One of these interviews actually has the ATF out shooting targets with Koresh just before the tragedy. And they didn't arrest him.

wrong thread... sorry
Hahaha! this is Kelsey Grammer's project? Seriously, why is it that so many right-wing media pundits and outlaws seem to have connections to hard drug addiction?
.
Must feel the need to flush the rest of what's left of his career down the toilet.
Good luck getting any more "Simpsons" voice work, dumbass.
haven't you heard dear? Hollywood is 100% liberal. Ergo, Kelsey Grammer is Liberal. So is Tom Selleck. So was Dixie Carter, Ron Silver, John Wayne--the list goes on. That's why none of them snitched during the McCarthy hearings--all filthy hippie libs.
me-oww!
That means that St. Ronald Reagan was a dirty commie liberal. Of course he NEVAH snitched during the 50s.
;)
Perhaps she'll reconsider her political views now.
backing this project?
i am now more confused about being confused than ever.
And remember, that was sales material...so it's possible Kelsey Grammer paid for the slick promos and they're shopping outlets. The newly-revealed COO has other existing projects, so it's probably logical to start with them and follow along. :)
John made it sound like this was the final installment of this saga. (or this was a CYA piece)

them had they done this, but they would have had a party, I suspect. :D
Anyway, will Comcast punish the people who libeled them by saying "On television, through partners including Comcast," then lied again and claimed it was an 'internal document?' I'd really like to see that.
me-oww!
Why didn't/don't you?
one, I get a sweet deal. It COSTS them to give me service. When they trip, I am on the phone to the city which has control of the cable company. And the city comes down on them like a ton of bricks. There is only the one cable company available to my area. As such, they are required to give me a good deal because I am low income.
Now if you'd like to stump up the extra cash I'd need for equal speed and service forever, I'd consider the call. But since we're Qwest, the next best I can get is DSL, not FiOS. So that's nothing that could happen, an equal service speed-wise.
And qwest isn't required to give me a break on teevee (but I get it for my phone), nor are the sat dish companies, and I doubt my landlord would allow a dish to be mounted on his building.
I also have major reservations about the 'service contract' aspect of many alternatives.
But if it turned out they WERE supporting this, I probably would call qwest.
that's why, nosy parker. When you are living my life, you can make the call.

whose fault it'll be at hotair, Rim Job's freeperville, politicool, and red pajama state? The hate-filled left. Not because rightnetwork apparently lied about shit (indicating lack of ethics and morals, to begin with) but because the left is hate-filled. That's their story, and like the authoritarian worshiping toadies the are, they'll stick to it, until someone can pry that gun out of their cold dead hands.

This morning the guy on WCBM AM 680 ("Hate 68") in Baltimore said, without a trace of irony, "Good news, there is a new network coming that will appeal to those of you find FOX to be too liberal...".
I saw Kelsey Grammar on some talk show and his entire reason for being a conservative was he thought that he was taxed too much.
Every time some multi millionaire uses that as an argument, he should be asked to document his income before and after taxes for the last few years. If they say it's none of our business, then the response should be that they can't use it as an argument. For all I know he made 10 million and paid 50 bucks in taxes, and that's too much taxes for him.
And in keeping with Official Birther Protocols, just saying what they made and paid won't do it. They have to show us the tax forms.
I want to hear Kelsey admit that he makes millions for portraying a one dimensional asshole on TV (a big stretch for a one dimensional asshole in real life) but deserves more.
... di*kweeds complaining about being taxed for things like education, "OK so, do you really want the kid fixing the brakes on your BMW to NOT know basic math...?

Thanks for reporting this, John.
But much more, your reporting has integrity. You're honest & clear. Who knew in this day & age reporting _facts_ could be so easy?
Personally I don't care if comcast is involved with rightnutworks. Even providing them with an outlet is to much. I've gotten rid of comcast internet already and cable will follow as soon as I can line up an alternate.
What makes me sad is hearing that Grammar is a wingnut. I really like Frasier.
