A man who has been totally disgraced for his past behavior, including ethics violations, as Speaker of the House now is constantly being given a platform to slime and smear any victim of his choosing freely. Nancy Pelosi is his newest target and he's been vicious in his attacks on her.

Newt, a man divorced many times over, just became a Catholic (a faith that frowns upon divorce) and got booted out of his Speaker's job because the American people hated his tactics. Yet he has the nerve to say Pelosi committed some unforgivable sin by saying the CIA lied, and that she should lose her leadership position. Being a Catholic now (I still consider myself one, but not very strict), who is he to point fingers at others when he himself has sinned so much?

He called her a liar among other smears yesterday on ABC radio, and then appeared on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer and went one step further.

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today flatly declared that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should be replaced in the wake of her allegation that the CIA lied to her about harsh interrogation techniques.

“She really disqualified herself to be speaker,” Gingrich, R-Ga., told Diane Sawyer on ABC’s “Good Morning America. “I think the Democrats should get a new speaker.”

When Sawyer brought up the fact that in 2008, Republican Sen. Peter Hoekstra similarly declared that the CIA lies to Congress, why didn't Newt demand that he be repudiated also? Newt practices the kind of hypocrisy he knows all too well.

Sawyer: Hoekstra: "We cannot have an intelligence community that covers up what it has been doing and then lies to Congress." That's a Republican saying it. And they're saying, where were you then, you didn't call for him to resign?

Gingrich: Well, I think in that particular argument he's fighting with them over a report he wants about a year and a half ago, but I've had a similar standard of toughness with Republicans on other issues...

Sawyer: So should he be repudiated for those words too?

Gingrich: Well, in that case he was writing a specific letter asking them to change something that they were doing, ahh...

Sawyer: Lies, he said.

Gingrich: He did not say the CIA routinely lies to the Congress.

Sawyer: Well, he says lies, he says "what it does and then lies to Congress."

Gingrich: And I think that they actually had to come back and testify, I think it's important for Congress to keep the CIA under observation...

Like a good talker that he is, he avoided answering her question. Oh, that's right, Hoekstra was fighting over something 18 months ago, so all is forgiven. Sawyer caught him like a rat in a trap.

And just to correct the record: Pelosi didn't say they lied to her routinely -- she said they had lied to her on that occasion, and a few others.

But why isn't Gingrich called on the carpet for his previous revolting behavior? What do the media let him escape his past travesties just because he sat out a while?

Just because GIngrich is a charlatan, a liar and a freak doesn't mean that Nancy Pelosi shouldn't be thrown out on her keister. And that goes for Reid too.

Newt is a jackass we all know that. But Pelosi has been in 100% spin mode lately. Although if she goes I am afraid Hoyer would be the next Speaker, I certainly don't want that. Good ol' Harry is a joke. The poster child for Dems continually folding. Here is what he said today about Gitmo:

First you have a meanspirited adulterer who left his wife when she had cancer named Newt Gingrich who committed to make his GOPranos Gangrich.

Second, the dirty GOPranos elephant trashed the China shop while Nancy remained tied to a chair

and now the Dirty GOPranos elephant wants to blame Nancy who got tied by them to a chair?

mnich13's picture

Wow. I'll bet that form of cancer is particularly deadly.

but if Pelosi can get the "Truth Commission" she claims to want then it'll be worth it to keep her around.

I'd be embarrassed to even show my Catholic (Yah right) face as a multiple wife cheater, and a crook thrown from office. He's is desperate and jealous of her.

This topic and this target of this topic is particularly visceral for Gingrich because it hits all of his long-held guilt beneath the layers of his daily bullshit. He is protesting so much because ethics violations hit him where his heart isn't but should be. That his attack target is a woman further roils him due to his lifelong misogyny. He is patently pathetic.

You'll feel better.

(No need to feel "guilty")

and I suppose his Catholic baptism washed away all his previous sins. How long before he racks up another huge lot of them?

i don't even have to listen to gingrich........it's the same hyperbole based on sour grapes. where are the
Active Republican lawmakers? i just do NOT believe they really want commissions/investigation. i don't care what the cia say i would NOT trust them.

because they don't like the National Intelligence Estimates that say, for instance, that Iran does not have nuclear weapons capabalility and won't for some time, they are not really saying they are liars! Only the Democrats can call CIA liars and be called to account for it? And, the Democrats quiver in fear?

What a fucked up country!

The CIA are professional liars. Why would anyone think they wouldn't lie to Congress?

Yes, it's illegal. So's torture. My guess is that someone who isn't bothered by the concept of torturing another human being probably isn't going to lose too much sleep at the idea of lying to Congress.

If our governments & politians really clean up and improve their image, why do they have this slime bag on all the talk shows. They are giving a national high profile platform to a creep & slime bag. He was thrown out of the speakership in disgrace, lied and cheated his way through life, including an illegal book deal while he was in office, and he has the fuc---- nerve to criticize other politicians, he is a low life. I don't know why he is given so much time on t.v. when they already know what he is going to say, how extreme he is and that he is going to be loud and crass as usual in his attacks against the Democratic party. He is a true ass and I am so tired of him and his ilk. I wish they would get some new and moderate and reasonable people on the talk shows instead of the same tired old fools like Newt who do nothing but shoot their slimey old mouths off with the same old crap we're been hearing for years and years. Enough of Newt already!

Where was Gringrich when the Bush Administration threw out the war plans for the invasion of Iraq and came up with their own? What does this say about the Republicans respect for the military? What have to results of their plans said about whether they have any credibility?

Who cares what this sack of shit has to say?? Honestly, WHY...WHY is he given a platform other than on the propaganda network...where we are well aware of their motives??

This disgraced, slime ball piece of trash has no room to talk. If he has proof...then show it. If not...then STFU!!

Figuratively speaking, I agree.

I mean, why not? If Newt-the-Patoot wants to play hardball, maybe it's time. Isn't there anybody within the Democratic Party--or even on the political left--willing to publicly, LOUDLY call this asshole out?

His "youthful indiscretions" (as Henry the Hippo-crite Hyde liked to call them) are all there in the damned public record for everyone to see. There needs to be a coordinated effort on the part of the political left to reply to this kind of attack with *full goddamned force.* Letting him run amok--and permitting the media to get away with encouraging him to do it--is absolutely inexcusable at this point.

As some gasbag Repuke operative said on NPR's "Talk of the Nation" today, this is all about defining the Democrats. Same as when Reagan and his henchman co-opted the word "Liberal" and redefined it as something evil. And "liberals" did nothing--NADA...not a damned thing.

Democrats had better be prepared to fight to the finish NOW or have the Repukes define them for the next generation. The political right is not in disarray. They are not only ready to go, they're MOVING. Are we unwilling to stick it back in their faces? Think it's time to be polite and let reason prevail? Uh-uh. It's put-up-or-shut-up time, folks.

Tepid Headline .. but read on ..
Arlen Specter seems to side with Nancy Pelosi on CIA

Sen. Arlen Specter appeared to side with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Wednesday in her spat with the CIA over harsh interrogation methods, saying the agency has a history of being less than forthright with Congress.

“The CIA has a very bad record when it comes - I was about to say [being] candid, but that's too mild - to honesty. It goes back a long time,” Specter said in a speech before the American Law Institute at a Washington hotel.

The Republican-turned-Democrat listed a handful of examples in the past where the CIA has withheld key information from Congress, including an instance when a CIA operative knowingly passed along to the White House “tainted” information about the then-Soviet Union and the agency’s statements about its ties to the Iran-Contra scandal during the Reagan administration.

During my tenure as chairman of the Intelligence Committee during the 104th Congress, there were repeated instances where we didn’t get information that was there,” Specter said.

"It's a real problem as to how you get the information." ..

“The current controversy involving Speaker Pelosi and the CIA is very unfortunate in my view because it politicizes the issue and takes away attention from what ought to be the focus – and that is how does the Congress get accurate information from the CIA,” Specter said.

Diabolus est Deus Inversus

Because the MSM isn't in the news business any more. Ever since Roone Arledge took over the news department at ABC the news on TV has been about smack-downs and controversy, not about information. It's all about entertainment, "eyeballs" and profit.

How is it you think anyone would give a good goddamn what it is you think, you bloated irrelevant toerag?

one of the most unethical turds in the toilet bowl calling names.

He's only doing this to bring attention to his latest crappy book of lies and bullshit.

I hate to find myself agreeing with gin grinch but I take comfort in the fact I want her gone for other reasons!

She is the supposed leadership of the Democratic party, along with Harry "the wimp" Reid. A bigger group of spineless wimps you will not find anywhere!

Criminals like her on both sides of the aisle have been part of an outrageous cover-up. I believe they have helped Bush and Cheney commit horrific, treasonous acts against their own country and now they are stonewalling and hand wringing trying to help us "just get over it and move on" It's sickening to watch and even more sickening to realize that they really aren't going to do anything but talk.

Jesse Ventura had it right when he stated this week that our Democratically led congress seems unable to bring themselves to hold anybody from the previous administration accountable for anything.
He reasoned that they are either incompetent or they are in on the shenanigans that have been perpetrated on the American public for the past eight years.

We need term limits for ALL our elected officials. Maybe this would help get them out of the pockets of multi national Korporations and get them back to doing the work of the constituents they supposedly represent!

ElleninBigD's picture

Let's not forget how Newt became Speaker. And how he was basically thrown out of that office. Amazing how Republicans don't understand "the Google."

hairlip's picture

Newt "manned" up and admitted to wrongdoing and... made restitution. That's much different than what's going on now on Capitol Hill. The rats are all running for cover...

YonYone's picture

Most of the rats you speak of are in the media 24/7 Brazenly trying to re-write history and ginning up support and sympathy for all the treasonous behavior they have engaged in over the past eight years. The biggest rat of them all Cheney is on TV almost every day Torturing the truth (He loves him some torture) and almost daring the U.S. Govmt to come after him. Does he already know they won't?
The only rat who has basically disappeared is Booosh. He knows that what he did while in office is at least prosecutable and maybe even likely to be considered high treason. He ducked and covered and slunk off into the night.

Sadly the Dems are helping the rats. Their inability and in some cases flat out refusal to even get to the truth or hold anybody accountable is pathetic and a crime against those of us they supposedly represent.

No Sir I would say the rats are in plain sight, They won't shut up and they aren't afraid of us!

RobertD's picture

Sorry. Gingrich resigned in disgrace. Not for something manufactured, either. The facts are all there. You can look up old clips on Youtube, or you can Google the time line, or you can read old news accounts. It hasn't all disappeared down the memory hole. The truth doesn't just go away--much as some might like to confuse the issues.

I'm not a fan of Nancy Pelosi. Still, this "controversy" is bullshit being trumped up by a batch of hypocrites in league with our "liberal" media (which doesn't exist). It makes for great "he-said-she said" teevee and keeps all the mouth-breathers tuned in, hoping to see Nancy's head on a dish, since they can't have Jane Fonda's. Therefore, the media's going to run with it.

Newt never "manned up" and did anything in his life--unless, of course, you consider cheating on your wife at the same time you're trying to have someone else removed from office for cheating on his wife some kind of manly act.

In which case you have a very twisted view of manhood.

Like prison warden for example. As an authoritarian control freak you are exceptionally well qualified plus you can hang with all your GOP friends there.

"We will find fulfillment not in the goods that we have, but in the good we can do for each other."

Robert F. Kennedy

Newt is trying to pull a Rovian maneuver by attacking the current Speaker. Just as BushCo attacked Kerry over his military service to deflect criticism of W’s, Newt is crying for the resignation of Pelosi to deflect from his own failure.

Newt is running for President. But this is not ’93 nor ’03. The Dems in Congress may have trouble holding anyone accountable, but the Google is working better than ever. Intertubes have a long memory.

So run Newt, run. Tell the world how others shouldn’t be just like you; find fault in all who mirror you. Your echo chamber is muted. Your relevance is only akin to that of a mad-man yelling at the moon: a curiosity, a comedy – a loon.

Hey Newty it's the fucking CIA, we pay them to lie. That's their job. They train for years to become the best liars on the planet. Why would it be insulting to them to call them what they have trained to become?

The CIA has for many years operated in the best interest of the CIA. If that happened to intersect with the best interest of the US, then they promoted that fact. If it didn't, they just covered it up and lied about it.

Does this failure of a human being believe that any American is dumb enough to fall for his fake flag wrapped apple pie eyed disbelief of Nancy Peloci?

There are hundreds of reasons not to like Nancy, first and foremost is she is a spineless toad that can't lead. Calling the CIA liars is one of the first times I thought she was showing some intelligence.
