Jon Stewart blasts CNN for not fact-checking the news: "We'll have to leave it there."
By John Amato Tuesday Oct 13, 2009 3:00pmJon Stewart took CNN apart over their insipid fact-checking of a SNL skit about President Obama while never having the time to give us REAL FACTS about health-care reform when their guests come on and lie. CNN and most cable networks allow health-care obstructionists like Sen. Kyl and Orrin Hatch to throw out bogus facts all day long without ever questioning their validity, and it is frustrating.
Stewart nails CNN for always saying "We're out of time," and never getting to the truth. And then we have the FRC's Tony Perkins, who claims there are really only 5-10 million uninsured people in America.
Perkins: ...when you get down to a hard core number, it's about 5-10 million that can't afford health care. Out of a nation of 330 million that's a small percentage.
Stewart: Without an explanation he went from 30 million uninsured down to you know the hard core number. 5 or ten million. Well that's pretty close...it's only double.
And the ultimate slap in the face is when TDS clips together almost every anchor saying: "We'll leave it there."
Stewart: There are 24 hours in a day, how much more time do you need? CNN's new slogan: Nobody Leaves More Things There.

By the way, this clip was hilarious. You have to read this post. Probably the funniest thing I have ever read about Glenn Beck: The Big Gay Cartoon Character.
Must read.

I laughed pretty hard at the last sentence in bold. I laughed even harder at the fact that Strom Thurmond looks like a white version of Lo Pan (from "Big Trouble in Little China).
Gotta love Jon Stewart. Once again, it takes a comedian to point out the mistakes of the media.
I always find myself growling a bit when they [the MSM] say things like "people don't understand what's in the bill" as if it's SOMEONE ELSE'S JOB to inform the people!
Is nothing more than corporate propaganda with a pretty face. The elite, beltway center-right villagers dominate there. They do their right-wing spin in stealth mode which makes them even more insidious than Faux, who do it openly.
TDS and Jon are the only real source of news or even meaningful info.
They've completely gutted their staff of journalists and replaced actual news with filler in the form of ANYBODY who's willing to show up.
Tony Perkins? Since when does the leader of an Evangelical Front Group like the Family Research Council count as an "expert" on healthcare?
CNN ought to think about re-hiring some actual journalists. They might even save money by sacking some of the pretty-faced News Readers.
Anybody who can support their corporate masters insterests with a straight face has a job - pretty-faced hardly matters.
I know a lot of C&Lers have said this (or some version of this) before, and I'll repeat it: You have to laugh at it, to stop yourself from crying.
CNN = Corporate News Network
Fortunately I have learned to laugh and cry at the same time...and last night I was rolling on the floor while doing both. Sometimes I watch or read msm and something just feels wrong...most of the time I can figure it out, other times I need Stewert and Colbert do it for me. No wonder JS is the most trusted newsman in America.
I'd call him "The Watchman" of the newsmen. He hits both left and right and right on spot. His writers and him deserve every award they get. Just keeping them honest.
For people who like to say Jon only attacks the right, watch this. Nearly 12 minutes of attack on the so-called "liberal media". He was dead on. Fact check SNL but "we're going to have to leave it there" with Kyl and Ari. thanks for a great piece to Jon and John.
there???
Doubt it. There is no there. There is no NEWS. It's all debate to get the viewers. Give me a topic and well give you someone on both sides of the story whether it needs it or not. If a there was head on train/truck accident they'd have someone on to debate who ran into who.
BTW, it was the truck who drove on the tracks getting hit by the train. Therefore it was the trucks fault for being on the tracks that the train couldn't get off of.
Isn't that what we call a lie?
Can't you just imagine the egos over at CNN, with their shorts in a bind over this?
Jon Stewart is a National Treasure.
This was a great segment, and he's absolutely right that they are on 24-hours a day . . . there is plenty of time to get the truth, just no interest in doing so. So where along the way mediating between extreme veiw points became more important that getting the truth. Trying to avoid the appearance of a liberal bias has become more important than calling out absurd statements. It's a shame. Here's more of the same:

Which episode was this from? The website doesn't list anything for last night (Monday).
EDIT: Whoops, my bad. The page didn't load all the way the first time I checked it. Never mind.
Lol, Jon Stewart factual points out the right wing bias in CNN.
Amazing how the wingnuts 'frame' their propaganda. I especially like the way they start a sentence with "Everybody believes that" or "Everybody knows that", etc.
Conservative media
Fox = 100% right wing propaganda
CNN = 75% right wing propaganda
MSNBC = 50% right wing propaganda
to not watch 24 news...
Tv is like chewing gum for your eyeballs. All too soon the flavor is gone....
on a 24 hour "news" channel. Nailed it, especially the goat fucking.
As usual Stewart showed Americans why we should not watch or believe anything the non-fact checking CNN spews.
