McCain's Cabinet

A new talking point coming from the Villagers today is that Obama's new team looks just like a McCain cabinet, God forbid. I surely doubt Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder or Samantha Power would have been named to a McCain team. It wasn't a surprise that Obama kept on Gates for the time being since we are in the middle of two wars and Gen. Jones has been a big Obama supporter so what the heck are they talking about?

There is a lot of work ahead as Obama assumes the presidency and the media really wants us to fight amongst ourselves. That is quite evident.

polyester shirts, macrame belts and albums of groups I'll never play again: I admit that they were things from my past, but I just don't have any desire to pay any attention to them anymore.

You can just donate them to the Salvation Army.

...I can just see Sean Hannity and Geroge Will ringing a little bell in front of the grocery store! Hell, I'd even throw in a $10 bill for that!

a backhanded compliment in a typical fucked-up, twisted, envious, adolescent Republican kind of way.

Oops . . I forgot to include "transparent". Silly me.

"Secular humanism -- a fearless, realistic world view replete with doubt and scepticism that attempts to attain an unachievable state of equilibrium between and among the human qualities of reason, intuition, imagination, memory, ethics and common sense.

reminds me of the joke where a officer tells his men in the trenches of WWI that today we get a luxury - we get a change of underwear. After a few minutes of cheer he proceeds to say ... Jack you change with Mark, Jim you change with Bob, etc etc

The mainstream media has lost credibility. Look at all the political crimes and corporation fraud that has gone unreported and ignored. They are greedy, big buck whores that sold out.

This is not my father's America

After eight years of fighting Republicans most of us are not about to fight among ourselves. I don't care that much about the cabinet, although I am pretty O.K. with it. The bottom line is Obama said it best when he said the buck stops with him.

Some harpy was on MSNBC saying that exact bucnh of shit. It was like she was reciting her lines. I knew then that was where they were going.

It is not as bad as a McCain Cabinet would be BUT.

Having people like JONES with investment in BIG OIL and The Militar Industrial Complex is pretty scaring:
WIKIPEDIA:
General Jones joined the Board of Directors of The Boeing Company on June 21, 2007. He serves on the company's Audit and Finance Committees. [7]

On May 28, 2008, General Jones was elected to the board of directors of Chevron Corporation. [8][9]

the republicans have had uninterrupted control of the department of defense for 28 straight years...

yep, Clinton's secretary of defense was a republican also...

do you think this has something to do with the politicization of the military???

do you think we need a change here???

hello ???

CHANGE !!!

"The liberals aren't going to like this, the liberals aren't going to like this. He said this about Hillary he said that about Hillary. Where's the change, where's the change?"
The fucking retards (nothing against retards, mind you) on the right don't get it. We are just so damn happy that there is somebody in office who can think pragmatically and who wants to hear opposing ideas, who doesn't want to do things only for the sake of ideology and for his friends in business but for the best for the country, that we are not getting all in a tizzy just by the people he chooses to help him. We are willing to give such a gifted person the benefit of the doubt now.
Don't worry you little minds you right wing idiots. we will question his decisions in due time but at least we know that he can speak a sentence and has the ability to analyze in a way that will work the best for the country as opposed to what is best for the rich assholes. Yes Hillary is OK with us, fuckers.

John, you were almost totally correct in your post about how the media is perceiving Obama's Cabinet picks, but c'mon, even you know that Gen. Jones, who has many friends on both sides of the aisle, is good friends with Hillary Clinton and a long-time friend of John McCain. I believe Jones even once campaigned for him this past election season. And if McCain were president right now, he definitely would have picked him to a high-level Cabinet position too (probably Sec. Def if he didn't keep Gates).

Also, there's little evidence out there that Jones was an overt Obama supporter during the campaign - remember, Jones was against a firm deadline/timetable for withdrawing from Iraq last year - but I am confident that Jones is with Obama on his Iraq withdrawal plans now that the SOFA has been passed, and that Joe Biden had a big hand in Obama choosing him as national security adviser, as Biden sung his praises in the fall of 2007 after he testified to Congress about Iraq and Afghanistan (around the same time Gen. Petraeus testified, I believe, maybe a couple or so weeks apart).

Overall, Gen. Jim Jones is a great pick for any high-level national security position and I think he might end up being Obama's SecDef once Gates finally leaves in a year or so.

Everyone would still be working for the next for years if McCain won. Now First Dude might have had a real job, Connie Rice would still be doing nothing as Secretary of State, Gonzo would get his job back and yes the 109th blank check Congress would be back in business. We would see McCain pass an executive order for Sarah Palin's clothes account paid by the US Taxpayers.

I know a way we can put a stop to seeing this bullshit on TV: everyone needs to stop watching it. Then, the TV companies will see that their ratings are falling and maybe, just maybe, they will stop pandering to useless arguements and *gasp* show things that Americans ACTUALLY care about. Till then, even my mother, who was ALWAYS an avid watcher of news when I was a kid, will not watch the news.

At the risk of repeating myself, I'd love for someone to tell me how Gen. Jim Jones "has been" a "big" Obama supporter. [For the record, he's not a partisan ideologue and would've served under any commander-in-chief, be it McCain, Obama, or even Hillary if she won the dem's nomination] I've followed this election and post-election coverage as much as anyone and never once heard him say a peep about Obama directly or his policies during the general election or at any other time recently. Until now, of course.

for some reason, the wingnuts thought that obama would be appointing socialists, anarchists and commies

they believed their own hype that obama is a radical lib

fact is, the leftist wing of the dem party did not want obama...because he is a moderate...always has been

thats why i love the guy....over the next 4 years, he is gonna piss off both ends of the spectrum

Actually, over the next 8. That's why Obama will be successful. He's not too worried about pissing people off. He's more concerned about doing what needs to be done.
