I call their channel HOAX NEWS. I also have not watched CNN for the last 5 years because of their right heavy bias. They have right wingers and mainly only centrist Democrats on their shows, so I stopped watching CNN in 2005.
We're going to do to the Republican party what the world did to the South African National Party in the 1990's: Crush them with boycotts of their friends in businesses that fund them. See http://www.democratz.org
to their viewers, they need to be crushed.

Not soon enough!

"LeRoy Schaffer, a St. Francis city council member, dressed in a tuxedo and top hat for the occasion. Shaffer got visibly emotional asking Bachmann about the future of health care and the role of special interests in Washington.
“I’ll be danged if I am going to give up my Social Security because of socialism,” Schaffer said, before being booed by the crowd."
Oh, that's got to be the best moronic teabagger line yet!
Uh, LeRoy...you have Social Security BECAUSE of socialism! Bismarck instituted the first national SS system to draw public support away from the socialist parties in Germany, which were advocating social security policies during the mid- 1800s.
Also, the Socialist Party in the United States advocated SS decades before FDR ran with the idea.

A wealthy Old Gentleman decides to go on a hunting safari in Africa, taking his faithful, elderly dog named Killer, along for the company.
One day the old dog starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
The old dog thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the old dog exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder, if there are any more around here?"
Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old dog nearly had me!"
Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes, but the old dog sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up.
The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.
The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine! "
Now, the old dog sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old dog says...
"Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard! "
Moral of this story...
Don't mess with the old dogs... age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery! BS and brilliance only come with age and experience.
If you don't send this to five "old" friends right away there will be five fewer people laughing in the world. Of course, I am in no way insinuating that any of you are old, some are just more "youthfully challenged."

Here's one from our friendly neighborhood democrats in Michigan.
The Speaker of the House in Michigan (a Democrat) introduced a plan to require all public employees be put under one state run health insurance program.
Basically, another "screw the working class" proposal.
Needless to say, all of us employees who have had our wages slashed due to lack of raises over the last fifteen years are not too happy.
In that time we have had 12 raises that amounted to less than 1.2%! That means, we have really taken a pay cut. Six of those year we got zero% raise in order to keep our health insurance. Despite that, we have also taken concessions on health insurance two of the last four years to help keep our districts afloat! We opened our contracts to do that - the ultimate in good faith.
Now, this bluedog introduces this rightwing fantasy legislation that would destroy a major portion of what is left of Michigan's middle class. They have already crushed the U.A.W., and now, a DEMOCRAT introduces legislation that would basically destroy collective bargaining rights for workers, and crush the last vestige of worker opposition to the corporate fascists!
I called this little bastards office a few weeks ago, and got a very young kid who laughed at me when I asked if the Speaker really was from the party of FDR? He said laughing, "that was 50 years ago." He was totally ignorant, and the biggest dipshit I have talked to since I called Max Baucus' office a couple of years ago. Maybe it was the same guy?
So I moved on to the Speaker Pro Tem and talked to a very intelligent guy who completely understood everything at stake. His mother was a teacher, and he felt that the Speakers legislation would have to be supportive of workers and unions rights. He also was apalled when I told him of the bluedog jackass I talked to in the Speakers office and wanted his name.
In 2006, the repukes controlled our State House of representatives 58 - 52. After last year, the democrats hold a 67 - 43 majority thanks to the hundreds of thousands of public employees who campaigned and supported them.
And this is what we got in return; a big fat knife in the back!
Well, this blogger has finally had enough! I am going to start a petition demanding his resignation as Speaker, or that the House democrats strip him of his Speakership role. If they don't, they can try to win re-election next year without the 500,000 public employees, their spouses and family members support!
I'm done venting, thanks for
listeningreading if you got this far!P.S. When did he finally announce this complete betryal of working people? On Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., right after the cowards all left for their Labor Day break!
A page straight out of the George W. Bush 101 political hacks playbook!
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
Maybe I missed something, but what did he propose to screw the working class? A "bad" health plan? I don't get what this has to do with you getting the short end of the stick. What did you have before? Or now. just wondering.
"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation."
The state constitution says public employees have the right to collective bargaining. He is proposing to end that through forced compliance. The righwing nuts have been trying for years to do this, and this dipshit is giving it to them on a platter.
Without the right to collective bargaining, and the law backing up those agreements, good luck getting anything as a worker. It completely guts the power of orgainized labor. Wal mart ring a bell?
But hey, make jokes about it you uninformed jackass. And when you are working for 1/3 the wages you make now - twenty years down the road, you can pat yourself on the back.
This health plan means transfering the costs to the workers! Period.
They require you to basically have a Master's Degree in this state to make $30,000 a year. 100 grand in college expenses, certifications, and graduate work. They use to say "but we can offer you a good health care plan." They already eliminated pensions for teachers 12 years ago.
Now they want to decrease health insurance. They have finally worked their way up the food chain, and are about to finish off the middle class. But since your in a shitty place right now; so what?
Who cares? Let those college educated people work for nothing. We don't need no stinking middle class! Fuck em.'
Yeah, that attitude will show them, and improve your own situation.
And yes, I have fantastic health care, which is the only reason I am still alive. So I take it personal. Besides that, our district is willing to pay for the insurance plan, because they have outstanding personnel, and because we have sacrificed in the past to help them out.
They know this, and have been willing to meet us half way by continuing to give us our health care. Furthermore, our healthcare program is a non profit and has only a 3% overhead, while the rate of inflation is always less than the "for profits," while providing awesome care. That's why the repukes hate it; it's "non profit," all the money goes to health care.
This guy is stepping in and saying, you no longer have a right to bargain for wages or benefits, this is what you must have. What is the point of even having organized labor if you have no bargaining strength. All the employer has to do is say "this is what your gonna get, any questions serfs?" and when the economy turns around eventually, they will still say the same thing, becuase this will be in place. Read the "Shock Doctrine." This is what these politicians are doing now to the american people.
If they want to go to single payer in this country, then I am all for it. No single payer and the loss of collective bargaining, no way!
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
and pressure them with boycotts to get the speaker to do what you want.
You said 1/3 of your wages in 20 years. If our beloved corporate masters have their vile way, it will be in the pennies rather than dollars, and much sooner than 20 years. A job at Wal-Mart would be a blessing compared to what the evil bastards have in mind for us.
There will be no such thing as unions. Complain and you're fired. Take more than 3 minutes in the bathroom and you're fired. You'll have to choose between eating and housing. Health care? You're kidding right?
The only reason that we in the "developed world" have such a good lifestyle is because men and women fought for unions, fought for better wages, fought against child labor, fought for a 5 day work-week, the list goes on and on. Good men and women sacrificed their blood and sometimes their lives so that we could have a better life. It's absolutely sickening to hear people denigrate unions like it's the the unions that are the problem. Open your eyes people. Those sick fucks at the top want us all to be their agreeable little slaves. It comes just a little bit closer to that every day that passes.
Dis-empower the SOB's. http://www.democrats.com/boycott-fox-news-adv...
Alan Grayson for President, Elizabeth Warren for Vice President, and Paul Krugman for Secretary of the Treasury!
...in The Detroit Free Press, and I'm not sure how it is, exactly, that it effects collective bargaining.
One thing that I think is positive about it is that with all of the employees in the pool (half a million state, city, county and public school employees) in the pool, it might be easy to bargain down costs.
Now if you're angry about paying higher deductibles and co-pays, well, who the hell isn't? But the fact is that those of us in Michigan not employed by a governmental entity at the state level or lower have seen our costs for benefits- those of us (well, those of you, 'cause I ain't got any) who have them at all, that is- rising for quite a long time. And then there are the folks who have lost their jobs, and are either paying exorbitant COBRA rates, or are completely uninsured.
Not trying to pick a fight or anything, but could you expand on the negatives with a bit more clarity, please?
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
post when you start getting massive layoffs
christ...and you wonder why people hate state employees
btw...you still have a pension plan...dont ya?
I'm the one who lives in Michigan and pays for state employees wages, bennies and pensions, and I didn't go that far.
And as bad as it is for everyone across the country, what with unemployment driving wages down, it's worse here in Michigan than it is for you in California, Uncle Joe. After three months of having no job, I had to settle for a 30 hour/week job that pays $8.50/hour.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
i know plenty of people without right now
i dont want to hear some gov employee bitching about a change in his health care plan
and fuck...im working 60 hours a week...and getting paid for 30...and i have no health care, have to match my own social security (great to be an indy contractor...fuck reagan) and worry everyday that i will have no work....AND IM NOT FUCKING ELIGIBLE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT...OK
SO DONT BITCH TO ME
My take home is under a grand a month (except for that sweet 3 paycheck July). I live alone and pay $470/month rent- that's more than one paycheck covers. Toss in utilities, groceries, car insurance, gas for the car...Did I mention I've got a kid in college? That ain't cheap, either...And you know what? I consider myself pretty fuckin' fortunate in my current circumstances, right here, right now.
Should things be better for everyone in the wealthiest nation the world has ever known? You bet your ass. But I'm not bitching, at least not at or about you. I just think you should lighten up on NoGWB. S/He is watching her/his position become tenuous, too.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
Your absolutely right. I helped support the UAW, I have tried to help people start unions, and I have always supported everyone in the private sector when they were getting hosed!
I have seen nothing but corporate fascist victory after victory, and this is just the final cou de' gras for the fascist - gift wrapped by a democratic Speaker we bankrolled and supported.
The neighbor who got my brother into the steel riggers union, was crippled his entire life after being beaten by fascist goons trying to stop formation of unions in the 1930's. These rights were not handed to working people because guys like Dick Cheney wanted to share with their workers. But hey, who cares, not my problem.
Tell me how shredding union rights will get your shitty situation to improve? I have never understood people like that. Even when I was dirt poor and had nothing, I never had that attitude.
Man, this country is screwed!
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
a lot of us are suffering from the economic situation. Let's not be complaining about who has it worse when we all have been hurt.

F**k you dickhead!
I don't ever want to hear you bitch about the fucking repukes ever again asshole! As long as state employees are getting screwed who cares? Fuck you, and eat s**t and die!
What this bastard is proposing is the elimination of collective bargaining rights! We are gonna be working 90 hours a week for 20 hours pay thanks to dipshits like this!
But hey, lets attack the other shafted middleclass workers so the rich fuckers can laugh all the way to the bank.
All of you people disgust me! No wonder the bluedogs shit on your heads. You deserve it!
Ten years ago when people were getting huge bonuses in the private sector and making money hand over fist, we were getting nothing, and told to STFU because we have health insurance.
What this guy is proposing, is transfering the costs to employees, thats what he's talking about! That is the only place you can get savings. The Free Press is a right wing rag, so make sure you get your information from them.
You people really are a bunch of self centered assholes. No different than the freaking GOP!
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
CHILL THE FUCK OUT.
This is a public forum. YOU came here and posted your complaints about your situation. If you can't take the idea that some people might disagree with you - ESPECIALLY when you're complaining about your job when LOTS of others don't have any - than maybe you should be bitching at the local bar with your co-workers instead of coming here and yelling at anyone who has it worse off than you and DARES to say so.
Really, where's your mother?
There's always free cheddar in the mousetrap, baby. - Tom Waits
I was an orphan. My father died when I was seven, and my mother died when I was a very young adult.
That's where my mother is. Any other questions? Moron!
Secondly, I don't drink and haven't been in a bar in 30 years.
Don't tell me to chill out! I have worked my whole life to support everyone I know. Now I post a very relevant comment about democrats destroying the rights of workers and I'm told to STFU and stop whining. No. I won't STFU! This country is in the advanced stages of corporate fascism, and these peddy jackasses could care less because they have it rougher than someone else right now?
I lived in the streets as a teenager, and never once did I say fuck you, I'm worse off. These people make me sick, and their stupidity is matched only by their self-centerdness!
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
Right on man, you rock.
Hang in there. Totally agree with your larger point, that we're all in this together. Unfortunately, when people are in such desperate situations--even progressive people--they will lash out against their own instead of the real enemy, corporate-owned government and media, an evil complex that forces 99% of us to fight among ourselves for all the scraps and droppings.
The worst thing about the employment situation is that a new paradigm has been created using the 'economic meltdown' as an excuse (just as 911 was used as pretense to obliterate civil liberties and move money into the private sector). This new paradigm increases hours, slashes pay, eviscerates benefits--and mocks the very idea of unions and the fact that workers have a right to organize against the overwhelming force of corporate power.
BTW, I've been unemployed since February and got work--temp work--only last week. This week, I got a job on Wednesday, for 4 hours. My rate of pay is what it was when I was in college, in the early '80s; it is less than unemployment, which itself is not enough to live on. (Full unemployment plus a small pension I took out early is only enough to pay the rent.) As horrified as I am about my own situation, I consider myself lucky because I've been able to hook up with a temp agency and I have some savings that I can draw on.
You are so correct.
This is not about me. I could retire in a couple of years, take my pension and get another job without any difficulty, and probably make more than I do now.
This is about standing firm and opposing the forces trying to destroy the last vestiges of middle class workers rights. If they can eliminate public workers rights, then the private sector is really going to be screwed.
Won't that be nice. Private sector = shitty pay no benefits. Public sector = shitty pay with no benefits. Sounds like a wonderful future for our children.
These people need to start thinking about someone other than themselves. The people who are raping this country are laughing at their stupidity.
"The corporate fascist just stole another trillion from us. I'm gonna go vote for my neighbors to lose their job, because my job sucks now!"
Yeah, that will show the rich bastards, and really help out the $8 an hour guy? Geeeesh!
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
Friend, you're my home boy. Fight the real enemy, not some middle class whiner:

Alan Grayson for President, Elizabeth Warren for Vice President, and Paul Krugman for Secretary of the Treasury!
you have to get a job on the outside,(and you will because there is no one left to pay taxes for your job) then get injured doing that job. I got whacked in '02, work comp (yes, a state agency) refuses to acknowledge my case for 7 years and counting. I have a family of 6 to feed with no money coming in except for my wifes meager earnings from Target.
You have no problems dude.
I worked on the outside for years, and have gone through the same thing you are.
That's why I went to school to get two masters Degrees in Science. Now, I don't even have the right to bargain for my wages or benefits? Great, so a person of my unique skill sets can be lumped into the same category as someone at target.
That makes alot of sense. And that certainly will help to sustain the middle class.
Last year we had a biology position open, and 1278 applicants.
The years before that we had a chemistry position open, and could not get one qualified chemistry major. We hired a biology teacher with a minor in chemistry, and she was chosen from a pool of 17 meager candidates.
Good luck finding chemistry and physics teachers when you offer them substantially lower wages than the private sector, and no job security and shitty benefits too!
But wait, since people at target work for 3 cents a day now, people will be jumping at those $15,000 a year no benefits teaching jobs.
Yep, lets continue that race to the bottom!
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
Just wondering.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
I work in a very wealthy suburban district. Not going to say which one.
despite that, we don't even have money for paper or books. Meanwhile the genuises in Lansing keep giving us unfunded mandates like rigorous stupidity.
Fortunately, most of our teachers can teach without books because of their expertise and educational background. But hey, when was education ever a stepping stone to the middle class? Snark!
We constantly rank in the top 10% statewide on test scores. Unfortunately, I have actually had to "water down" my curriculum, in order to make sure I now cover all of the idiotic "Rigorous Stupidity" requirements the state dropped on us.
plus, last year they dictated our scheduled breaks. So long for that collective bargaining right. Now, they want to destroy collective bargaining altogether.
What's next? This shit has got to stop somewhere Beit public employees or organizing private employees. This shit has got to stop!
I never thought I would live to see the day that the boot of fascist government would be on the back of my neck - and with such strangling force.
I have had my fill of these bastards micro managing my life for the sake of their corporate fascist rapists. And then calling it freedom!
I want freedom from corporate fascism.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
Except that they shell out for books...And new pools, and expanding the football stadium, building a Lacrosse field, and new computers. Great teachers there, too. That city might be fiscally conservative, but they always pass millage proposals.
Meanwhile, neighboring GRPS has gone to hell in the last 25 years. The industrial tax base all headed to the relatively tax-free 'burbs in the '80's, and now those same businesses are leaving for the South, or south of the border.
Funny thing is, the assholes who have moved their businesses out of the city and state haven't moved their residences. I think that at some point it would be wise that when there are teachers- or any public employees- on strike, instead of picketing the school's administrative buildings, it might be wise to protest in the driveways of the ceo's and boards of directors who still live amongst us. Bring it all home, ya know?
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
I have no problems?
I will try to remember that when I have my third heart operation in six years this October.
I usually get worried about these things. Thanks for setting me straight? Especially since I may lose my surgeon and be required to pay for procedures that I cannot afford personally.
Hey, if I die, then I won't have a care in the world. I see where your going with this.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.

Then don't bitch to me mr. private sector uncle joe.
Their wouldn't even be a private sector if it wasn't for the public sector. They would all be bankruupt. Gone. Wall Street and the American economic engine would be a ghost town. So stick the right wing bullshit private sector talking points where the sun don't shine.
Furthermore, you superior beings in the private sector rake it in when times are good. So deal with the bad times and quit complaining.
Suck it up - punk! I don't wanna hear you sour grapes self pity bullshit.

If you looked at the big picture, the large corporations busting Unions for decades is the cause of the troubles in our country. All the while we take it in the ass, CEO's have continued to increase their take of the profits. My God, instead of taking home 30 million dollars ayear in pay and stock options, they could take 20 million and roll the rest into Health Care. They don't see it that way, all for me none for you. The insane profits they reap (or cook the books to make it look good) their large salary from come off the backs of everyday workers like us. Instead of saying "F these SOB's", we instead have learned from our corporate masters "F those Union/Government employees, they have it so good and are bitching".
If everyone would get a damn backbone and call their reps and demand the Employee Free Choice Act be passed, they could all enjoy from the security that a collective barganing agreement gives.
Amazing enough to ponder, why do CEO's demand a contract but employees are scumbag usless Union THUGS if they demand a contract? Why does every business sign a contract for goods and services but does not feel employees deserve the rights afforded by a contract?
Soon as you figure the reasons, you will understand why bitching about the common worker is useless. Aim away from workers (as the corporations have taught you) and aim at the corporations with your rage.

Double damn.
You gotta go where the money is bro.
I know times are tough. I went from 50 an hr to 25 an hr.
I was an indy contractor too. But it got too tight, so I went back to work for my old boss. I'm only getting 30-34 hrs a week.
It ain't enough. but damn, you gotta go where there's better money.
What is your conceptual, continuity?

Michigan is awesome. Nothing beats the Great lakes. This state has everything. Beaches, sand dunes, mountains, rolling hills, infant glacial northlands. I love it.

A few years ago, in California, before things blew up, I was making $7. Unemployment in that county was 15%. Minimum wage in Cali is now $8 and taxes are higher. Unemployment is higher. I'm not so sure you know what bad is when a one bed apartment goes for $700/month in the slummiest part of town.
It is a lot less expensive here, at least for housing. I'm in a tiny studio, I think a one bedroom runs another $100. The neighborhood is nice, but the building is old- built in the 1920's. They rent a bit below market value here, but you get what you pay for- it's sooo much fun after a day at work to come home with a few bags of groceries to find the elevator not working and having to slog up 7 stories.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
In 2006, the repukes controlled our State House of representatives 58 - 52. After last year, the democrats hold a 67 - 43 majority thanks to the hundreds of thousands of public employees who campaigned and supported them.
And this is what we got in return; a big fat knife in the back!
Well of course you did. How could you possibly expect anything else? You're dealing with politicians aren't you? Used car salesmen are angels compared to 99.99% of politicians. Even if there's no reason to lie, you can count on the fact that they'll lie anyway. Politicians are the lowest form of life in the universe. We know that they're all full of shit up to the eyeballs but we keep hoping that this time it will be different. Albert Einstein once said that doing the same thing over and over again, hoping for a different answer is insanity. Well, we must all be insane. All it takes is for some politician to tell us what we want to hear and then to bribe us with our own money and we'll just bend over and assume the position because here it comes again. The only difference between the Republicans and the Democrats is that the Democrats will sometimes use lubricant before fucking us in the ass. What sort of ego does it take for someone to feel that they have the right stuff to "lead" us? When did politicians stop being public servants? Actually, I guess they've never been public servants have they? The only masters that they care about are the ruling elite.
You are absolutely right. I was living under the delusion that the party of FDR was still the people's party.
I have just about joined the George Carlin school of political thought: "fuck em,' fuck em' all! I stay home on election day!"
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
I still like "We decide. You abide."
defacing public ad space is a valid form of expression.
There is no public ad space.

FIRST AMENDMENT!
"I know that there are people who do not love their fellow
man, and I hate people like that! " ~ Tom Lehrer (1928 - )
I'm in charge of bringing educational flyers for one group attending the Raleigh Rally for Health Care Now tomorrow. I have the materials as google docs, and linked from this blog entry, for easy access:
http://hechicerablog.blogspot.com/search/labe...
Since we don't have our name on it, feel free to steal them! Free info flyers. The second flyer is in two parts (front & back) so people can replace the NC congress members contacts with their own as needed.
And if anyone is near Raleigh, it goes off at 10 AM in front of the Capital Building.
That is why I've been reading the bills and studies out my arse the last week, and then posting it.
Watch out for Repug dirty tricks in next years election, these ass clown will be pulling every trick in the book to take back power next year. They are desperate, they do not want to pull the troops out of Iraq, they do not want to cut back on military spending(no peace time dividend for us).
No bid government contracts that are carried over from the Bush years will be expiring in the next few years......and most important of all will be the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% will be expired next year and in 2011.
A nexus of bad mojo will befall the GOP and their wealthy sponsors in 2010-2011 if they do not take back power by any means necessary.
'Talk to the hand'
the voter machines. People have such short memories and won't remenber how the elections were stolen in 2000 and 2004. Voter turnout in 2008 made it impossible to fix the vote. Obama won by a much larger margin than the results show, I'll bet.
hence the name:

Some stuff you can't make up!
...voter caging.
'Talk to the hand'
.............the scum are desparate and will pull a whole lot of shenanigans in the next (S)elections. They will try to make their 'selections' contra the real elections, and of course, Voter Caging.
1. End electronic voting.
and 2. Look for every dirty trick to be pulled. Bet you a dollar you'll see some darkened faces in commercials.
NOBODY 2012
Kind of hard to tell with Democrats allowing politics lead their policies rather than the other way around.
As for the Bush tax cuts expiring, remember that it WILL NOT be the Democrats failing to make the Bush tax cuts permanent. Repugs will come out saying Democrats are increasing taxes by allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire.
Who wrote the legislation that included the Sun Down Provisions in the legislation in 2001 providing for the expiration of the tax cuts at Bush's request? The Republican controlled Congress wrote and passed these provisions when they passed the Bush tax cuts in the first place.

Who Would Jesus Deny Coverage?
I haven't seen WWJD signs, pins, bumper stickers, etc. in quite a while. Could it be they're embarrassed to admit how twisted they've become?
and he got ripped off by the people he was trying to save.
I believe in Jesus, but hasn't he done enough for those that believe in him. The debate on healthcare will not be won or lost on any discussion involving religious beliefs.
You might wanna be careful about the clown-face on Steele. Repugs might pull out the race card. Anyway, the first article I've read from the mainstream press which links low income to the suckonomy, since no one's buying enough. But who cares about "socialist" minimum or living wages? The other side doesn't bring guns to a McCan't townhall debate. The WHO warns of an even deadlier version of H1N1. Nixon was looking into ways to swift-boat Ted Kennedy:
So I guess we know who really killed RFK. We told the Scotts letting go of that bomber was a bad idea; but did they listen? Americans like Obama's energy plan. The Great Pacifc Ocean Garbage Patch. Is unemployment really as high as 20%? The U.S. loses twice in a lawsuit in which the FBI intentionally sent innocent people to jail to take down the mob.
On that Lockerbie flight, it was reported there were mass cancellations by US DoD people, yet an important but annoying (to the CIA) DEA team returning from Lebanon died on it. There were many documentaries in the UK and Europe about the what and whys of Lockerbie, and the UK govs deception in its case against the supposed bomber.

Sad.sad.sad.

I guess I'm not hip with the kids cuz I've never heard of dj am.
From reading the threads here, I feel America is far worse off than the rest of the world. The places I've been (on the planet), it would be hard to tell there is a recession on at all. In Canada they have officially called the recession over (but that was just a Yahoo headline I read).
Aside: Prague is lovely and the weather has been A+ since I arrived. I'm still in the interviewing-for-work stage. I'm not tuned into anything political at the moment. They do have good grass here. Yummy. Been a while!!!!!!

Congrats on your relocation Edwin.
Thanks curt. It's quite a switch from the East!!! As it is Europe, there are no big culture surprises. I do miss Asia already!! (My head is still in Asia.)

for the rest of the country. I figure if Massachusetts has passed this law other states/the federal government will be quick to follow (if they haven't already):
A new law passed by the state Senate in Massachusetts calls for mandatory vaccinations of all citizens and a $1,000 / day fine for those who refuse to cooperate. It also legalizes health care "interrogations" of Mass. citizens, forced entry into homes without a warrant, the on-site destruction of buildings or objects suspected of harboring the virus, the government kidnapping of family pets, "involuntary transportation" of people into quarantine camps and much more.

Even though the same police state tactics will probably be passed in California it looks like I'm going to start packing Monday so I can make my escape from Massachusetts and head back to L.A.
Oh joy!! Moving!! My favorite thing!!
Considering that the forecast for New England this winter is "the most snow and the coldest winter in a decade", I guess Venice Beach for Christmas shouldn't be too shabby.
I just hope the California Nurses Association has grown more "activist" in the past four years.
Forced vaccinations. Pfffttt! They're going to have a problem with that one, considering that right now about 40% of surveyed nurses refuse to be vaccinated with the swine flu vaccine.
I'd trust a strange auto mechanic more than I trust any government "official" at this point.
"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn
Let alone any other freedom intelligent types nuts. I wonder if its deliberate to bring the gun people out into the open. It will force a showdown with the more resistant types.
..they are "teasing" for the next feature which is on the health care reform debate and the announcer specifically mentions, "..supposed death panels."
Um, supposed death panels? Wouldn't that mean there might be, could be, are supposed to be, should be REAL death panels? She was or seems to be an intelligent person, why would she use the word "supposed" which to me means she's at least considering this fantasy proffered by palin and others? Why didn't she say "..nonexistent death panels"? Death panels do not, have not, never have, could never have, will never, ever, exist; why not say just that? There is no supposed about it, death panels do NOT exist and isn't it about time responsible people especially in the media start to project that vs. some fantastic element in health care reform designed to scare people ?

This will mean that IT people like the 'Government Liaison Officers' in local cable TV/ISPs will all be Federally certificated at a cost, and have the power and the mandate to switch off users at gov will, key packet switching parts of the Internet will also come under control of Washington bureaucrats and censors. Assuming it will become a federal crime to hold a job in certain sectors unless that person holds a relevant certificate, we enter the age of Kafka/Soviet style 'approved' internet by default.
Of course its all being done to stop the horrible hate speechers, teabaggers and nasty people out there in cyberspace, and also to protect the children, never forget the poor innocent children who need protecting. Until one day we are all the poor innocent mushroom children. If Bushco had had the power and the balls to censor the Internet rather than just illegally monitor dissenters, the last eight years would have been much worse, and prob Gramps and Plank or Darth and Jeb would be in the WH now.
Paranoid leftover GOP stooge Reichfuhrer Gates is still in and running the DoD, why this Republcian remnant is still there is a worrying and intriguing mystery. The DoD would love to extend their already wide grasp over the Internet and its denizens, They have 10s of thousands of DoD players in intel, many of whom prob dabble in Web matters.
When free speech goes, so does freedom of all kinds.
Why doesn't the president use all those warrantless surveillance permissions he's extended to himself to stop cybersecurity threats? Doesn't he think the information would stand up in court as being legitimately harvested?
