These smears have been floating around in email chain letters, but even still, this really shows just how low and how desperate the McCain campaign is. Not Larry Sabato:
this column from the McCain campaign's official Buchanan County representative. You need to read this column to believe it. In "humor" he accuses Obama of wanting to paint the White House black, supporting reparations, changing the national anthem to the "black national anthem", teaching "black liberation theology in all churches", and replacing the flag with a "star and crescent logo".
Nothing like a little race baiting four weeks before the election...why does this guy still have his job?
Meanwhile, Sarah Palin brings up Bill Ayers at a campaign stop in Carson, California:
"Evidently there's been a lot of interest in what I read lately," she said. "I was reading today a copy of the New York Times. And I was really interested to read in there about Barack Obama's friends from Chicago. Turns out one of his earliest supporters is a man who, according to the New York Times, was a domestic terrorist, that quote 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and the United States Capitol.'"
Saturday's New York Times story, an investigation into whether Obama had a relationship with Ayers, concluded that the men were never close and that Obama has denounced Ayers' radical past, which occurred when Obama, who was born in 1961, was a child. It also found that he has downplayed their contacts.
"This is not a man who sees America as you and I see America," Palin said of Obama. "We see America as a force for good in this world. We see America as a force for exceptionalism. ... Our opponents see America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who would bomb their own country."

Perhaps the Obama campaign should remind voters that McCain's campaign is advised by Henry Kissinger, a man who supported and facilitated the deaths of thousands of people in Chile and Indonesia; a man who must consult his lawyers before he travels abroad, as he is wanted for these crimes in various states in Europe.

Responding to Palin's latest words is not getting dealt with by Obama because it is base, false, scurrilous, and has no basis in reality. The Obama campaign would do well to avoid such nonsense; it just lowers them to their level.

You could see little bits of steam penetrating from his ears. His tongue kept coming out like a reptilian. He was VERY close to blowing up.

The idea of fighting Native Americans may not be politically correct today, but those troopers fought honorably to defend citizens who probably didn't respect those men because of their skin color. These same troopers later fought their way up San Juan Hill in Cuba in 1898 alongside Teddy Roosevelt's "Rough Riders". And let's also remember the Tuskegee Airmen, fighter pilots of WW2 who never lost a bomber under their protection to enemy fire. And it seemed to me, the black men who fought alongside me in Vietnam bled the same color as I did.

Then clips of the current slurs, credits of authorship...(names look familiar to 'ya.. you betcha [trying to sound like palin]) Again... no change with McCain. You get the same Bush policies... even in running a political campaign.
I would like to see the "witch doctor" and Palin video on every new add along with Keating five footage. Taking the high road in this campaign would be disasterous! American voters believe this stuff and they've proved it with Dukakis and Gore. Go low, an eye for an eye.
Why not use some footage from Bush's primary that stomped McCain in 1999? This election is far from over and negative ads work.

I agree, the old “quote and comment” format lent it self much better to ongoing discussions and debates far more than the new “reply” format does - particularly without the numbering system. The ongoing discussions almost always centered on the last few posts, not the ones in the middle of the list. Once you’ve read through the list, one rarely goes back to see if anyone has replied. The new format is as good of a debate/discussion as the Biden/Palin
debatetaking points were.A another good analogy would be only being able to debate a particular subject (comment) when you’re in the living room but have to stop as soon as you go into the dinning room. If you want to finish the debate you have to go back in to the living room. Isn’t it better to have a debate that moves with the flow? I though it was only the government that fixed things that weren’t broken.

The article yesterday in the NY Times should be required reading for all Americans. They looked into the Ayers story and found there is no there, there.
The Obama campaign already has an ad out today saying that McCain wants to turn the page regarding the economy and instead begin making personal attacks on Obama. The ad says that the American people aren't turning the page on the economy. The ad goes on to compare McCain and Bush and says they are both out of touch.

In addition to what I said above in post # "who knows?" about questioning McCain's lack of honor on Tuesday and relate it back to his own experiences in 2000, Obama could hit the old man hard with a sympathetic, "I understand" approach. It's likely to be the thing that would make the man finally blow his top. Obama could say something like:

Slightly OT, but I was just watching Fareed Zakaria on CNN, who was interviewing some politicians/ambassadors from India, Singapore, etc.
All of them said that they and the vast majority of people in their respective countries are very much in favor of Obama winning. Mainly because they feel he understands the problems of diverse populations around the world and will be much better at using diplomacy to defuse dangerous situations.
