From the classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (1975)
All this hullabaloo over a completely B.S. story from Tea Party Barbie Christine O'Donnell "dabbling" in witchcraft couldn't help but put me in mind of this scene. Shall we see if she weighs as much as a duck? I know I fear her turning me into a Newt. As it turns out, we need not worry about that happening this Sunday, as O'Donnell has pulled a Rand Paul/Sharron Angle maneuver and backed out of doing the Sunday shows, cancelling on Face The Nation according to a Friday news dump by the NRSC. Maybe she was afraid of questions about her illegal campaign spending, her bizarre "human brains in mice" comment or her midnight snacks on satanic altars. She truly is a gift that keeps on giving, isn't she?
But let's focus on whose actually not chickensh#t enough to go on the Sunday shows. The names would be less surprising if it was say...1995. We have a Clinton trifecta, with Secretary of State Hillary headlining with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on This Week and the Big Dog is on Face the Nation and Meet the Press with Colin Powell. Then there's the grasping-to-stay-relevant Karl Rove on Fox News Sunday. But what has to be the winner in the most clueless awards is Chris Matthews, whose fascination with the Tea Party has him wondering who controls the GOP--the Party elders or the teabaggers. Does the fact that the tea baggers can't generate enough interest among self-identified members for a Unity Conference not factor into the scope of their influence?
