Bernie Madoff Gets Schooled
I like it when people use creativity to make their point, don't you?
NEW YORK, Jan 1 (Reuters) - A statue stolen last month from Wall Street financier Bernard Madoff's Florida home has been returned undamaged, and with a note attached, to a country club where the accused swindler is a member, Palm Beach police said on Thursday.
The attached note read: "Bernie the Swindler, Lesson: Return stolen property to rightful owners. Signed by The Educators," according to police.
"We don't know who that is," Sgt. Chris Proscia told Reuters. "We think it was done just to prove a point."

The Educators eh?
Has a nice ring to it.
looks like the feds got a new homegrown terror group to put on the list right next to PETA! ...and all the other protest organisations on the FEDS list!

I thought they already put the Teacher's Union there.

What kinda commie talk is that? ;)
Somebody was thinking. How could something similar be done to banks and corporations getting "bailed out"? Would love to see that publicized worldwide!!
How ironic is it?...that Bernie gets his stuff back but no one else will?

Seems anybody who received monies from Madoff's 'fund' since 2002 is likely to be asked then sued to return their loot.

I foresee people fleeing with their money to avoid this.
Of course some wont have the required funds after the Wall St debacle, then they will be bankrupted.
If caught, the perpetrators of this act could be charged under some of the noveau drakonian anti terror laws. Thus creating the distinct possibility that the people behind "the educators" who did no harm in the end, may end up serving orders of magnitude more prison time that Madoff will ever do.
Talk about scales of value being out of whack...
"We are not going to bother investigating this crime because it is actually awesome," but I would be extremely surprised and very disappointed if they lifted a finger to solve this and arrest anyone.
Sometimes, even cops should have a sense of awesomeness.
will investigate further, unless other items still missing.

and who trusted him.
thanks to the non-regulation by the SEC and the non-investigation by the IRS/FBI/SEC/Treasury, that scumbucket pulled of the greatest personal ponzi scheme in history.
I hope:
1) there is enough of the purloined money RECOVERED to pay back everyone!
2) he gets the book thrown at him!
3) all his personal assets are forfeited as repayment and/or penalties for his actions!
P.S. nice crime!

I agree with what you are saying, with one exception. I believe that stock markets by definition are pyramidal schemes, and resemble the operation of a ponzi scheme. These are orders of magnitude far larger than what Madoff pulled off, so he is a small fry in the big scheme of things IMHO.

The whole fractional fantasy Wall St and banking scene.

She looks like she's wantin to break bones, lol!
Example: When someone invests in the market at a few dollars a share and the stock goes up to $100.00 ashare, then drops to $80.00 a share and they complain about how they lost their ass in the market.
"The Educators" is most likely a reference to this movie

excellent movie btw.
It's almost an excellent movie, if not for that limp ending.
Thassa how most porn movies end.

This practice of taking the micky outof something, or to set records straight, is a practice we've done for ages in the Netherlands. Particular in the Northern part of the country. Here's an example of this year.
In the fifties women athletics was dominated by Fanny Blankers-Koen. If you never heard of her, google her name and you will learn that she was a FOUR(!) time gold medal winner at the 1948 Olympics in London. Another great athlete in the Netherlands was Foekje Dillema. But after it was apparent that she was a thread to the reign of Blanker-Koen she was deemed too masculin. After her death in 2007 DNA tests proved that she was a woman after all but her career was over.
Some people from her birthplace rebaptized the FBK stadium in her name.
They should have pulled a "Roving Gnome" stunt and left some photos of the statue in front of foreclosed homes.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
real estate tour and visited a few dozen foreclosures within a five mile radius and been back in time for dinner. PBCo is awash in bank-owned properties.

Theres just so many of them.
Way to make a point. Kudo's to the EDUCATORS!
Actually, now that I've seen the statue, I don't blame them for bringing it back.
(Especially now that the price of copper is so low that they'd only get $5 for melting it down and selling it for scrap.)
Why is dear Bernie not sitting in jail awaiting trial instead of lounging in luxury in his Park Ave. Penthouse retreat? If it were one of the little people would find themselves on Rikers Island awaiting trial. This little *uckhead hurt countless people with his *ull*hit and he stays free?
Dear Bernie will come to epitomize the last eight years of the Bush reign --- lies, deceit, theft, and death...

Really Chris? No s#!t! Are you sure? Was the clue the note on the returned item?
It means throw that crooked, corrupt bastard in jail, take back the money he swindled from yhe innocent and throw away the key.
Send one of these also to all the craven, greedy swindlers of Wall Street, especially to those who use taxpayer money to pay themselves undeserved bonuses and expensive junkets. Signed by---The Taxpayers---who don't think Gordon Gekko is a hero.
And if they find one that's unemployed because of their crack like addiction to money add a PS---How's it feel to get what you deserve?
