(h/t Silent Patriot)

It's getting harder and harder to be a Republican flack these days. Poor Ed "Who the F@&# is that guy?" Rogers summons up his very best Lee Atwater training to throw whatever he can at Barack Obama, but the uncharacteristically pugnacious Bob Shrum isn't having it.

Even Chris Matthews is finding the whole thing laughable:

ED ROGERS: Obama, rather, is able to get away with platitudes. He says things like, you know, we‘re for justice, and we‘re for peace, and we‘re for prosperity.

MATTHEWS: No, he says unity. (LAUGHTER) He says unity.

ROGERS: Unity is a platitude.

MATTHEWS: It is?

ROGERS: Yes, it is. (CROSSTALK)

MATTHEWS: Well, why doesn‘t your party use it?

Oh boy, that's just not flying, Eddie, is it? Undaunted, Rogers launches into the tired redistribution of income meme (Um, hello, Ed? Social Security, Medicare, fire departments, police departments...what do you think those are, you hack?), claiming that Obama doesn't have a plan--just an ideological belief.

Teh stoopid, it hurts. What is "you don't raise taxes" except ideological mumbo jumbo, especially when McCain is spinning mightily to distance himself from Bush?

ROGERS: McCain is a legitimate opponent of the status quo in Washington, period. He should get credit for that. He always has been. He‘s not for more of the same. And, yet...

MATTHEWS: He said he supports the Bush tax cuts.

Seriously, Ed. This desperate flailing about just isn't working. Even Chris Matthews, for whom politics trumps all, isn't buying it.

Sunday Talking Head Thread

The Sunday Talking Head line-up is ready for reading this morning.

I can tell you what I will not be watching -- Meet the Press. I can't think of a show less worth viewing with that line-up: Matalin, Carville, Shrum and Murphy. Lordy. They should start calling it "Meet My Cronies." If Mary Matalin opens her mouth and says "no underlying crime" or "he's a good, good man" like she always does and there is no pushback from her husband (ha!) or Bob Shrum (HA!) about the fact that a multiple felony conviction on a matter of national security is not only serious but ought to be punished to the fullest extent of the law for an officer of the court who ought to have known better...I'd say Russert ought to call her on it, but he's owned by Dick Cheney.

So, what is catching your eye this morning on the blogs or in the news? If you missed Bob Geiger's political cartoon round-up, do go take a peek. Great stuff this week.

Pat Buchanan backs up the NY Times on Wingnut Judges

Pat Buchanan revealed on Hardball that they have been working on this campaign for over twenty years to infiltrate the court with freeper, wingnut judges.

NY Times: G.O.P. Reaps Harvest Planted in '82

Bob Shrum backed up Ted Kennedy today and opposed Pat's belief system involving-the freeper judges. Interestingly enough they have had their freeper judges on the bench for a long time now with results they haven't been too fond of. Shrum and Pat had a little debate about the Bill of Rights also.
