bilde_7d274.jpgThis is the madness that oozes from our House of Representatives and the Republican Party. Our old friend Rep. Steve King is palling around with G. Gordon Liddy these days, brewing a nasty cauldron of hate to "see if it will come to a boil."

If it does, I only hope it spews its poison back on King and Liddy.

This is a clip from King's appearance on Liddy's show. It begins with Liddy referencing Mexicans and ice cream cones and segues into King being "offended" by Holder and the President.

King: When you look at this administration, I'm offended by Eric Holder and the President also, their posture. It looks like Eric Holder said that white people in America are cowards when it comes to race. And I don't know what the basis of that is but I'm not a coward when it comes to that and I'm happy to talk about these things and I think we should. But the President has demonstrated that he has a default mechanism in him that breaks down the side of race - on the side that favors the black person.

I see. A default mechanism. Got it. As if this wasn't bad enough, today King went on Radio Iowa to defend his comments.

During an interview on the G. Gordon Liddy talk show, King said President Obama has a “default mechanism” that “favors the black person.” King also accused U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder of not pursuing a series of cases because those accused were minorities.

“I have no regrets about what I said. I stand by what I said because what I said is accurate. It’s factual,” King said during a telephone interview with Radio Iowa late this afternoon. “I think the president should answer and Attorney General Holder should answer for the justice department being used in the way it is, but what I said was accurate and it was objective.”

Hmmm. What part is factual? The part about prosecutions or the part about default mechanisms?

Speaking of default mechanisms, let's review Steve King's record.

  • October, 2009: ...the hate crimes bill results in a "pedophile protection act," and is meant to create "thought crimes" and protect "sexual idiosyncrasies."
  • February, 2010: "It’s sad the incident in Texas happened, but by the same token, it’s an agency that is unnecessary and when the day comes when that is over and we abolish the IRS, it’s going to be a happy day for America." (Referencing the attack on the Austin IRS office that killed one agent)
  • March, 2010: King declared that a peaceful uprising, a la the successful overthrowing of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia on the streets of Prague in 1989 "would be fine with me."
  • May, 2010: "Gay people should stop wearing their sexuality on their sleeve."
  • May, 2010: "The ACLU, SEIU and the Muslim American Society are calling the shots at the Justice Department. The 'draft complaint' DOJ has prepared to challenge the Arizona law is a 'cut & paste' version of the class-action lawsuit the ACLU filed in United States District Court on May 17th. "

These are just a few examples. Who is it with the default mechanism on minorities? Projection, much, Representative King?

Just in case you thought it was safe to be something other than white in this country, Steve King wants to make you a little nervous:

“I actually, when this first popped…I told my people here that handle my media: ‘Let’s let this cook for a couple of days and see if this pot will come to a boil,’” King said. “I don’t want to put it away in the first day because I think the American people need to have this debate about what appears to me to be an inclination on the part of the White House and the justice department and perhaps others within the administration to break on the side of favoritism with regard to race.”

Whacko racism isn't new in this country at all. But it's really disturbing when it comes from someone who is involved in forming the laws of our land. Really disturbing.

Barney Frank took the gloves off on the floor and called John Fund out for making up a story about a phony bill and then he outlined how the right wing noise machine works as a propaganda arm of the republicans to push that narrative into the mainstream.

Frank: You are entirely wrong about me and in the absence of your being able to show any basis which you made such a statement to ask you to acknowledge that fact. He's not only a liar, he's a coward. He wouldn't do it. My staff member asked him, called him up and said, what was this based on? Well, I made a mistake. Well, have you made a retraction? Oh, yeah, he said. Can we see it? "I told a couple of people." Mr. Fund makes it up. It's a lie, it's a myth. There was nothing there and it's to discredit all democrats.

His right-wing cohorts echo it and echo it. The next thing is it will be on the floor in the next two weeks. This is the democrat disregard for the electoral process. And when we call Mr. Fund's attention to the fact that this was a lie, what does he say? Whoops. but he's not going to tell anybody about it. Mr. Speaker, this is not the only case of this and I know this has happened before. But because I was directly involved here, I was in position to document this. It begins with a lie from this editorial writer from "the Wall street journal." it is then a lie repeated by his right-ring colleagues. He refuses to do anything about.

It doesn't get any clearer than that. Frank posted the entire story on the web.

Frank responded to fabricated accounts of his supposed plans to introduce a bill on “universal voter registration.” The story began in November at the conservative Restoration Weekend conference in Palm Beach, Florida, where for $1,700 per person activists were able to hear talks by conservative opinion leaders on the theme, “Defending our Country and Culture.” At one session, John Fund, a writer for the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal, claimed that Congressman Barney Frank and Senator Chuck Schumer had hatched a plan to game the election system by registering felons, illegal aliens and others to vote:

Democrats were very rattled by the November 3rd election results. What do liberals do when they lose elections? They change the rules. In January, Chuck Schumer and Barney Frank will propose universal voter registration.

What is universal voter registration? It means all of the state laws on elections will be overridden by a federal mandate. The feds will tell the states, “Take everyone on every list of welfare recipients you have, take everyone on every list of unemployed you have, take everyone on every list of property owners, take everyone on every list of driver’s license holders, and register them to vote regardless of whether they want to be.”

The allegation against Congressman Frank is absolutely false and has no basis in reality. The Congressman in fact heard about it for the first time after the story was launched in the conservative media.

john-mccain_78dc2.jpg

If there's one thing the hot headed Senator from Arizona won't let stand, it's being called (and proven to be) a coward. McCain can't let the Ayers issue go because his ego and temper won't allow him. If I were advising him, I would tell him to stay clear of Ayers. But as someone who wants to see his campaign go down in flames for the good of the country, I think he should go full steam ahead -- the polls show this is a losing issue for him and playing the Ayers card at the third and final debate could seal the deal for Obama:

John McCain said Tuesday that Barack Obama is “probably ensured” that his association with 1960s radical William Ayers will come up in Wednesday’s debate.

“I was astonished to hear him say that he was surprised that I didn’t have the guts” to bring up Ayers, McCain said on KMOX, a St. Louis radio station.

“I think he is probably ensured that it will come up this time.”

As for Obama? Cool as the other side of the pillow:

“I am surprised that, you know, we've been seeing some pretty over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last several days, that he wasn't willing to say it to my face,” Obama said. “But I guess we've got one last debate. So presumably, if he ends up feeling that he needs to, he will raise it during the debate.” Read on...

Ted Nugent: Draft Dodging Coward

tednugget-machineguns.jpg Many Thanks to Richard Roeper for exposing the wingnut fool known as Ted Nugent (contact info) for being the coward during the Vietnam war that he was:

icon Download | play icon Download | play (h/t C&ler for the vid)

So Ted Nugent roams a concert stage while toting automatic weapons, calls Barack Obama "a piece of -----" and says he told Obama to suck on one of his machine-guns. He also calls Hillary Clinton a "worthless bitch" and Dianne Feinstein a "worthless whore."

That Nugent, he's a man's man. He talks the talk and walks the walk, right?

Except when it was time to register for the draft during the Vietnam era. By his own admission, Nugent stopped all forms of personal hygiene for a month and showed up for his draft board physical in pants caked with his own urine and feces, winning a deferment. Creative!...read on

When he had a chance to actually arm himself with a machine gun he cowered in his own excrement. That's Hannity's man alright. And Roeper makes a great point about the Dixie Chicks. (h/t Peer)

Geraldo wants to fight Olbermann

tof-geraldo-kerry.jpg I guess since he's been canceled he's losing it completely. He called out Keith Olbermann to a fight.

Apparently Geraldo was visiting with 104.1 FM's Monsters just before Christmas, when they asked him about the time he made international headline for disclosing too much information about troops in Iraq. Geraldo claimed the incident was blown out of proportion, largely by NBC -- and specifically Olbermann. Geraldo then began mumbling semi-audible names, seemingly meant to describe Olbermann: "midget ... punk ... slimeball." But then, with the Monsters helpful prodding, Geraldo went a step further, leaving no doubt about what he was saying. He called Olbermann a coward -- specifically a He then said he was ready to fight him, saying: "I would make a pizza out of him."

Didn't Geraldo fight Stallone's brother for Howard Stern after he broke his nose with some White Supremacists? He did criticize Olbermann on The Factor once before, but what's up with all the violence?

Update: TP has it too....

More on the Chicken Hawks from O'Donnell

I've interviewed LO for C&L before and he speaks his mind for sure. Following up on O'Donnell's appearance on Scarborough Country, Lawrence keeps up the pace.

Advocating war is easier when you and your family are not endangered by it. I've reached a Rangel-like breaking point with my TV pundit colleagues who championed the Iraq war and now say we can't leave even if we went there for the wrong reasons. For every one of them, I have a simple question: Why aren't you in Iraq? Or why did you avoid combat in your generation's war? The one unifying characteristic that all of us men in make-up on political chat shows share is fear of combat. Every one of us has done everything we can to avoid combat or even being fitted for a military uniform. Just like George Bush, Bill Clinton, and Dick Cheney, we are all combat cowards. It takes a very special kind of combat coward to advocate combat for others. It's the kind of thing that can get you as angry as Charlie Rangel.

John Murtha is "The Real Deal"

I had the chance to meet with Rep. John Murtha at a gathering of about 100 people Sunday afternoon over at Arianna Huffington's house. I first became aware of Murtha when he came out with a powerful message recently to try and end the conflict in Iraq. He had a clear-cut plan and a vision of what America should do in Iraq and he called for the immediate implementation of this plan.

Of course, he quickly became a target as the GOP sent out their newly elected hatchet man Jean Schmidt of Ohio to do their dirty work. She labeled him a coward and a cut-and-run artist, paving the way for second rate hacks to pile on a barrage of lies and distortions about the case he made to get us out of this tragic war. A fledgling swiftboat attack began but was quelled immediately by the Internet as the perpetrators turned out to be liars from the get-go.

John is a towering man; over six feet tall, he hovered over the crowd with a quiet calm that resonated deeply within the group. He spoke for a few minutes with a passion and clarity that was mesmerizing. What is clear and very dear to him is not that he held the spotlight for the moment, but rather his message...read on

Howard Stern defends Howard Dean

Stern got all over the NY Post for printing a crazy article that's not from their op-ed pages.

Stern: I don't see anybody on the NY Post going over to to fight the war. What kind of cowards are they?

icon Download | play -MP3

"French Surrender Monkey"

Stern: How many of umm-any of those Fox television guys, John Gibson, Bill O'Reilly----how do they call someone a coward when they haven't fought in one war?

Good see Howard join in on the "Operation Yellow Elephant" theme. I agree with Howard -that if there was a draft- this war would be over already.

Weird Schmidt response

JEAN SCHMIDT

" I am thankful for the thousands of supportive messages I have received from the people I represent and others across the nation since Friday. But this story has been way too focused on me, my conviction and word selection..."

I guess calling a war veteran a coward is nothing out of the ordinary for some people.

O'Reilly bashes Media Matters

A picture named Bill-OSmearblogs.jpgO'Reilly bashes Media Matters

In what was billed as a " Are Web logs" being used as ideological weapons?" segment, Bill just took out his anger over Media Matters that calls him out on all of his inconsistencies and The Smoking Gun which printed his Andrea Mackris law suit. (which she got roughly six and a half million for from my sources.) Bill said he had trouble getting people on the segment because MM are assassins. lol Heck-I would have gone on and about a hundred other bloggers-right, center or left to talk about this subject.

Jed Babbin was on as an apparent smear victim, but if you look at the Media Matters post they do what they always do. Point out the obvious. If you listen to Babbin, he claims that there was an all out assault on him and an email campaign. I don't see where MM had a pre-printed email letter to send anyone do you? Maybe O'Reilly should question Brent Bozell and his group that uses mass emails to attack any TV show or commercial they disapprove of. Buzz Machine exposed that bunch. Why are you such a coward Mr. O'Reilly? Why not have on somebody from Media Matters to air out your complaints with? You never even cited a single issue that they got wrong about you so basically you are being a smear merchant. Anyway, there's a lot in this clip to discuss. (Apparently we all run the major newspapers too. lol)

(Update): Think Progress has more: O’Reilly Said He Had Trouble Booking Blog Segment, Actually Turned Guests Away: Power Line was cancelled, Which begs the question: If O’Reilly was actually turning guests away, why did he try to smear Media Matters by claiming he had trouble booking anyone for the segment?...read on"

(Update):
I had asked Michelle Malkin yesterday if she was booked for the segment and she said she wasn't either. She also confirmed the Power Line cancellation. O'Reilly wonders why he is called out on his garbage.
