Teabagger Rap FAIL

Joe Sudbay posted this over at Americablog and I had to pass it along.

Remember Fox News' now-defunct Half Hour Comedy Hour? Not Funny. They just don't do cool, well. Case in point, teabagging rapper, Hi-Caliber. Forget about his fact-free, "patriotic rap," he just sucks. I'll let the C&L'ers pick this stinker apart in the comments. Anyone care to offer up a more appropriate rap name for this guy?

(Aut'chose - It's not as dull up there as we thought)

Another band you've probably never heard of, unless you've spent a bunch of time in the 70's in Quebec. Aut'chose (pronounced "out-shows") were one of the better known exports of Rock Quebecois - although probably in Europe and not so much in the States (the French thing).

Some fan pages have been touting them as the precursor to rap, which is more than a bit of a stretch. Probably a bit more like Serge Gainsbourg with a rock band than L'NWA.

But anyway - they recorded three albums for CBS Canada from 1974-1976. This track Sexe-Fiction is off their second album "Une Nuit comme une Autre". From all indications, they were still gigging around as of 2006.

Not for all tastes - but it's good to expand your horizons every once in a while. And it goes well with Saturday night.

C&L's Late Night Music Club with Phillip Morris

Title: Mr. Morris

Phillip Morris is another talented Chicago rapper who is on the verge of becoming ridiculously successful.

Take a few minutes, give him a listen, and tell your friends one day: "Morris? Sheee. I knew him back in the 'Instrumentality' days. Dude still owes me money." (h/t Matthew Filipowicz for passing me the Phillip Morris digit.)

In response to Michael Steele's comments to the Washington Times:

Newly elected Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele plans an “off the hook” public relations offensive to attract younger voters, especially blacks and Hispanics, by applying the party's principles to “urban-suburban hip-hop settings.”

Stephen lays out this challenge:

So, Michael Steele, I hereby invite, nay challenge you to come on the Report for a frank discussion of core conservative principles in the form of freestyle rap. You and me are going to lay down some dope, yet fiscally responsible rhymes. Ball's in your court Steele.

Anyone think he'll take him up on it?
