Man Misidentified As 'Person Of Interest' In Dallas Shooting Speaks Out

Mark Hughes is furious, and rightly so.

During the chaos of the Dallas shootings last night, police released a photo of Mark Hughes, brother of the man who organized last night's Black Lives Matter protest. Hughes was identified by Dallas PD as a person of interest in the shootings, largely because he was wearing camouflage clothing and open carrying a gun, both of which are completely legal on the streets of Dallas.

As of this writing, their tweet is still available on the feed, not retracted, deleted or corrected.

I briefly included a similar photo in an update to my post on the shootings last night, but quickly deleted it when videos showed him peacefully protesting without involvement in the shootings.

But in these days of social media, it doesn't take much for reports like this to catch fire, and this one did.

Now Hughes is facing death threats on social media, as is his brother Corey. He turned himself in to police after the report, they cleared him and sent him on his way, but they have seemingly forgotten to clear him on social media.

"It was persecution on me unrightly and I feel that they need to do something about that," Hughes declared.

I agree. They do. This is just wrong, and dangerous.
