“Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly Here. It is my great honor to be the governor of the greatest state in the country.

So imagine my surprise when I learned that one of my constituents is running for governor. Not here in his home state of Kansas, but two states over, in Iowa.

Now generally, I support Kansans. I was even proud to see Zach Lahn voted here in 18, 20, and 22. I hope he voted for me in the Kansas governor’s race.

But in the Iowa governor’s race? I’m supporting the Iowan.

Zach, there are no hard feelings, but it is time to come back to Kansas.

As they say, there’s no place like home.”

Gov. Kelly tweeted her sly video right before the Iowa debate started on Tuesday night:

“I care deeply about all of my constituents, even those running for office two states away. My message to Kansan Zach Lahn:”

Iowa Governor’s Race is Competitive

Iowa gubernatorial candidates Republican Zach Lahn and Democrat Rob Sand debated on October 6th, and a big topic was where Lahn actually lives.

Sand, currently Iowa’s state auditor, and Lahn, a businessman, debated in Davenport, Iowa. The candidates are battling to succeed retiring Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds. NBC News reports:

“Iowa has not had a Democrat in the governor’s mansion since Chet Culver was defeated in 2010, and Sand is the only Democrat currently elected statewide. While Sand has cast himself as an independent-minded candidate, Lahn labeled him a ‘radical liberal’ and a ‘career politician’ who supports liberal positions on taxes and immigration.”
