The panel of Fox News Watch was just terribly concerned about the likes of Jon Stewart and his ilk "playing politicians" but as the one "liberal" on the panel Kirsten Powers pointed out, what Jon Stewart is doing is no different than that their cohort at Fox News, Glenn Beck has done if you think that lying to the public and representing yourself as a news broadcaster and being a comedian are one in the same.
Powers: I mean, Glenn Beck anybody? It's like, well seriously, I mean you can't say that and then, you know suggest that it's somehow strange that Jon Stewart's doing this. I mean (crosstalk) he's a performer. Jon Stewart is a performer though. I mean he's out, he says he's a performer. There's nothing unusual about that.
Well Kirsten, I'd have to agree with you that they're both "performers". Except that one is a comedian and the other is a propagandist that works for the network you're happy to draw a paycheck from.
Powers often does a decent job coming on Fox and countering their B.S. This interview wasn't one of those times. Playing into and disregarding the responsibilities of those that want to pretend they're "journalists" or "news" and equating them to comedians does little service to either and given how horrid Fox News is, insults comedians if you're going to compare a lying pundit to someone who tells jokes for a living.
