Yesterday, Jonathan told you that the folks who benefit from the status quo are attacking John personally because they don't want the country to hear his message.
And you know what happened when we called them out? The attacks started pouring in.
That same day, the Ann Coulter-wannabe Michelle Malkin blasted John on her blog. Fox News has been bashing him around the clock. And Coulter herself said, "if I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot."
As you'll see from the clip, the caption read "Republicans Losing Ground?" and we see just why that's happening when Annie opens her trap. Way to go, ABC...

The media wouldn't have her on their shows if they didn't want her. She gets air time because her inflammatory rhetoric gets ratings and ratings means money. They get ratings because too many Americans are stupid enough to watch her as she craps all over good people. Modern technology is pretty cool in most respects but it has also allowed unintelligent fools like her to spread their hate much more easily. Frankly, the best way to deal with people like Ann Coulter is to turn your backs on them and pointedly ignore them. Don't grant them the forum they so desperately crave. The unenlightened eventually fade into obscurity when they realize nobody wants to hear their message.

I mean, what do I know, I'm Canadian - but the FCC has shown itself to be more than receptive to complaints from the right (Brent Bozell's silly Parents' Television Council; large fines for swearing and Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction") about broadcast content that is inappropriate for families.
Coulter says (with a bare minimum of qualification) that she wishes Edwards to be killed by terrorists.
That's hate speech. It's an incitement to violence. Coulter is using the public airwaves to advocate the murder of John Edwards, specifically because he represents a political party she dislikes.
If I were an American, I would complain to the FCC. Seriously. She is challenging the limits of free speech - at least as much as Janet Jackson did when the FCC fined the network for flashing her tit. This vile, anti-democratic, hateful statement should not be allowed to go unchallenged.

I like Ann Coulter. If more people would read her books they would see that she has done extensive research and points out the many descrepancies the MSM leaves out of their reporting. After all, she also has a right to her opinion and we should all embrace the fact she has that right even though you may not agree with her on everything. I simply can't watch, even for a second. It would ruin the rest of my day. For those of you who did watch, thanks for ranting and for your strong stomachs. She is the heart and soul of the current conservative movement, which has no constructive ideas and is unified only by its ability to demonize anyone who disagrees with it. We are at a pivotal moment where the conservative movement can be, if not destroyed, then set back 20 years. She should be encouraged to speak in the media everyday. She should be given the rope to hang the conservative moment in this country.
Edwards is a snake and an opportunist. And I say that as a liberal. Can anything be MORE the epitomy of the two americas than working for a hedge fund? When Hedge Funds do an M&A deal, (mergers and aquisition), they often take a distressed company, tear the value out of them (that usually means putting people out of work, or outsourcing their jobs), re-organize, merge or sell the remaining enterprise and making a tidy profit in the process. Do these people care about the jobs that are lost?
When they aren't doing that, they are often speculating in the market, searching for high returns on the 'dumb money', yeah, people like you and me. And when they aren't doing that, they are making a ton of money off of questionable (but legal) practices, such as making loans to people who have no means of paying the loans back. Yes, Fortress (the Hedge fund Edwards works for) has had a significant involvement buying and selling the speculative debt in the sub-prime mortgage market. Liberals really need to get schooled on economics and finance, because the fact that this guy has even an ounce of cred left just testifies to the incredible market deficiency of most liberals. How are we supposed to take a real voice in a world that is driven by commerce, industry, business and finance, if we don't know enough to see what a scoundrel this guy really is ? Good grief.

My theory on why she is on TV is to get more folks riled up so that they will accept a ban on our first amendment right of free speech, which Newt and others are pushing very hard for. I forget who said this but its a good quote- "I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it." I don't like Coulter, OR Edwards and I'm not defending what she said. I'm just suggesting that folks don't let themselves get emotional and lose sight of the bigger picture. This is a propaganda technique, and it has been used countless times with great success throughout human history.
Man that sounds terrible. It's probably like being gummed by an old-well something or someone that's really old with no teeth.
I think Edwards can handle it.

I hate Ann Coulter but what she said here is protected speech under the First Amendment. That doesn't necessarily mean she has the right to say it on the broadcast airwaves, but she can't be prosecuted for the substance of what she said.

I don't have cable because I don't want to waste time in front of the teevee. I suppose I like to waste time in front of the peecee instead. I would *never* know anything about Ann Coulter were it not for constant references to her and people like Michael Savage and Michelle Malkin in blogs which seem obsessed with her.
I've endured a few of her rants ane am utterly repulsed by her vitriol. Contrary to what we may think, our emotions have real effects on our bodies. Hate derives from adrenalin and cortisol - the fight-and/or-flight hormones. In the short term during a threat, it's a good thing to lose your appetite and marshall all your nutritional and defensive resources to fight off a danger, but in the long run, it will kill
you. It causes osteoporosis, cardiac malfunctions, high blood pressure, thyroid disturbances and more.
Didn't she used to look pretty good? Now she looks absolutely horrible - she looks feverish, consumed and even fragile. She also looks anorexic.
This is not intended as an insult - she has made a bush-league Faustian bargain with fame and it is eating her alive. To keep getting that attention/adrenaline high, she has to be moreand more vicious - just like any other junkie.
I'd like to say I empathize with her self-imposed plight, but I don't. I do hope she can stop this in time, though. But there are enough hate-junkies out there who feed off her and she off them that it won't be too long that she has a complete and serious stress-induced collapse.
