It's really very tiring to hear the same nonsensical argument that the Libby apologists make. The one that is supposed to take the focus off of the real crime here. This whole Libby case is all about the lying liars that said Iraq was trying to buy yellow cake uranium from Niger to start a war. When Joe Wilson called Cheney and Bush on it---they attacked his wife and himself. Shuster knocks down the lie that the NRO's, Tucker and the beltway weenie circuit keep pushing. Wilson was right and they were wrong...

I think it's stunning that tucker admitted that a "basic fact of the case" was that the Vice President outed a CIA agent as a form of political retaliation. If that is the "basic fact of the case" then the presidental pardon is a self serving obstruction of justice deserving of impeachment. We all know this, of course, but i'm happy to see even tucker carlson admitting it.

There are many of us that remember. As long as we continue to work for change, we will prevail. Keep calling your representatives, folks. This government is "WE the People" not "Them and us" as some would have us believe. Failure is NOT an option.
Oh, and did anyone else see Matthews and that one guy from The Nation shut Kate O'Bierne down HARD?! She was literally speechless at one point, when Matthews called her out on her hypocrisy.

Tucker is another example of the enabling MS-NBC team. Each time Orally at Fox Noise calls them "far left media" I'd like to paint Tucker's caricature on a Fox Noise camera van. Watching him snicker as Shuster pummeled the Wilson lie with fact after fact just irked me to no end. I've yet to have MS-NBC or Tucker say, "By the way, it's not me who is one of the leaders of the Pardon Libby Campaign, it's my father."
Amazing! After seeing those two together I think there should be a concerted effort to let MSNBC now that Shuster is amazing and he should always be teamed with a light weight like Tucker. Tucker is the perfect feed, even he was amazed.

The reason that Tucker was lost at the end of Shuster's recounting of the facts in the cast is because it is not easy to remember the lies and how they fit in the story. It is easy to remember the truth, the lies and where they belong is hard to remember exactly right every time.

The President has demonstrated that he is not a man of integrity, and he has no respect for the scales of justice. Scooter was rewarded for keeping his mouth shut and for obstructing an investigation that should have reached higher. It is of no consequence that Libby still faces a $250,000 fine. That's chump change for someone who has friends who raised millions for Libby's legal defense fund. But perhaps most troubling about this is that it tells other staffers in the Executive Branch that no matter what they have done or seen, they will be rewarded and protected if they stonewall investigators.

I watched this live (for some reason, Tucker's show works for me at that timeslot) and Tucker got it worse today then he did yesterday. Yesterday he was unprepared for Shuster to hit him with undeniable facts, and today, he was unprepared for Shuster to lay out the entire case for him within 60 seconds. I have NEVER witnessed a media-head own a issue like Shuster owns this Scooter Libby case. Tucker is entitled to his opinion, but he is not entitled to his own set of facts. Why he keep pushing his "Free Scooter" agenda against Shuster is beyond me, but it's entertaining as hell to watch him in a state of shock when Shuster shuts down any argument he can make fact-by-fact. Bottom line, if you think ANY sentence is excessive, you can't go from excessive sentence to no sentence. Especially when the guy hasn't spent a MINUTE in jail.

One mistake though
Shuster does ordinarily own this story. He did indeed put Tucker in his place. However, he did make one mistake and I'm surprised he repeated the myth that Valerie Plame recommended her husband Joe Wilson for the mission. She has repeatedly and consistently denied this. He has consistently denied this, explaining that he had been sent on secret missions on multiple previous occasions by the CIA and had held high rank while stationed in multiple African countries including Niger. Belatedly the CIA confirmed that he had been selected before his wife was informed. However as Shuster correctly points out, any involvement she had (not) or did not have (correct) is irrelevant. He was chosen for his expertise, contacts and experience with Niger and his knowledge of the control, mechanics, and flow of uranium sales. As Josh Marshall at TPM states more emphatically (and correctly), every statement that Ambassador Wilson has made in public has been truthful and accurate including the recently reconfirmed fact that Plame (his wife) was undercover at the time that the Bush-Cheney crime machine knowingly exposed her identity as a CIA agent. For those who say there was no underlying crime, they are simply misinformed. All of the criteria to be prosecuted for a criminal violation of the Intelligence Identity Protection act were met. As she testified this Spring to Congress, she was still going on deep undercover missions to the middle east up until the months immediately preceding the Iraq Invasion, just a little over 1 year prior to the Bush team destroying her cover (the requirement being within five years of the violation.) Overall, I really appreciate him, and I went ahead and emailed him, and quoted your point here, while also complementing him on his overall coverage. For the most part, Shuster is a credit to the fourth estate in a time when there are few that deserve the label of "fourth estate". But you are absolutely right on this, and Shuster, perhaps inadvertently, misrepresented the actual story a bit. (but it's an easy to understand mistake). Boy it's a lot easier to comment now. :)

I picked up on the error that jk points out but agree shuster did a terrific job in countering tucker's b.s. One point in tucker's favor -- and it's probably the best thing that can be said about any Bushy TV spokescreep -- he let shuster speak without interruption and even, sort of, admitted shuster had just beaten him up. O'Reilly would have cut the mike, called him a pinhead, and smiled at his audience of chimpanzees and gullible nursing home republicans. But to Shuster I can only say Thank you Thank you Thank you.
And for the record as I recall Mrs. Wilson's testimony: She said that she was shocked when she was told by her CIA bosses that her husband was going to go to Niger. Not opposed to it, mind you, but not extremely comfortable with the idea, either I think the shock came for 2 reasons: she realized her husband was the perfect man for the job and she also understood that Cheney and other dirt bags in the Rove (family members are fair game) Administration would retaliate if they could.
We all know from testimony in the Senate, and unambiguous statements from the CIA itself, that Plame was
indeed a covert agent for the CIA. Yet one so called Pundit after the other goes on the State sanctioned
Media outlets, and tells all manner of falsehood and misinformation. Its quite clear if God himself proclaimed
it from on high, the facts would still be spun to make it out to be untrue. It simply proves how little the
real truth matters in the Republic nowadays. In their rush and lust for power, the Right Wing has continually
saw fit to bare false witness in the affair. Yes a few million die hards still believe anything said by the Faux
Propaganda Ministerium, or that sweet little paragon of virtue Tucker Carlson, among others. But thanks to
the American spirit, and sense of decency, even more millions have awaken from their self imposed slumber.
If you think November 2006 was a pivotal election, just wait until November 08. The rhetoric from the Right
is already hysterical. And that hysteria is fast approaching fever pitch. It is sure to increase exponentially
with each passing week. No under lying crime? Lying to a Grand Jury or Federal investigator is a Felony. And
thats what Libby was convicted of.

I have been watching David Schuster the past couple of years earn some serious talent. I think MSNBC should start thinking of developing a show with Schuster as the host.
Regarding Tucker Carlson's opinion of all things "Libby"...when a TV talking head on the financial networks analyzes a stock issue, they usually indicate whether or not they have ties to the company.
