The Daily Show Is Back!
By Logan Murphy Monday Jul 16, 2007 11:50am
"The Daily Show" is back from their summer break and Jon Stewart looks in fine form. He goes over a few events that took place while the show was on break including the Scooter Libby case, Condoleezza Rice's double-triple negative and of course, President Bush, Tony Snow and a live report from Iraq where it's 130 degrees...

Karnak the Magnificent Strikes Again!
Oh yeah!
As I said over at Raw; that was so not unhumorous.
Welcome back John...NOW we can get some factual news each day
instead of that crap put on by the MSM...
"Fair and Balanced-I commute you decide" - priceless!:D
LOL. "Making progress = moving forward through time!!" Priceless....
Comedy Gold
Watched this last night and laughed till I hurt. Stewart and Colbert came back from vacation fresh as proverbial daisy's. What really got me going was the look on Jon's face as he was noting that a lot had happened in his absence, and the sheer joy he was feeling at being back, and able to tell us about it! Harsh on, Duder.... :D
Terrible to make fun of the President, after all he is THINKING!
Speaking of the DAILY SHOW, here is last night's interview with Josh Rushing. its a good one!

"Give me-um-"I am Allergic the penicillin.""
You can tell that it's finally dawning on Condi that she's trapped in a historical f*ckup.
Bush is too stupid to figure it out, but Condi sees the writing on the wall.

Bush to Nation:
"Ya'll stop talking while I figgur this thing out!"
Christian Rights' New "Battle of the Toy Box".
I laughed my ass off.
"It's so hot I need a sweat valve for my ass."
That was great.
Simply hilarious.
Stewart neglected to point out what Tony Snow did not, which is that the temperatures that the Iraqis and the Iraqi legislators have had to endure is because of the lack of air conditioning in their country and that uncomfortable occurrence is a direct result of the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq by the belligerent forces of the U.S. military. Just another example why the United States is hated and loathed by most Iraqis as well as so many other countries around the world.
Just one day after the Iraqi government received failing marks in President Bush's surge interim progress report, Americans learned that the Iraqi parliament is proceeding with its plans to take off the month of August. But while the American people may be up in arms about Tony Snow's 130 degree comment, President Bush's amen corner is predictably silent. After all, given Bush's own record-setting penchant for vacationing during crises here at home, Republicans are understandably reticent to criticize the absentee government in Baghdad.
For the details, see:
"Republicans Quiet on Iraqi - and Bush - Vacations."
C'mon, I love TDS and welcome it back on C&L, but this is really puerile stuff, with nary a clever take - except the punchline at 7:22.
OT:
In Bush's America, if you're caught with fireworks, you're a suspected terr-ist:

It's now clear and evident that Snow and the reich-wing care more about the Iraqi legislators well-being from the heat then they do for our troops.
Bless John Stewart and the daily Show. A little bit of sanity in a world gone horribly tilted to the right. He is here to restore balance to the universe!
Excuse me, we didn't air condition the green zone? Where are the Iraqi's going on vaction..Greenland? It's hot everywhere over there.
Michael Graham @ 19:
Long live puerile!!!!
I don't get it.
John Stewart for President!
Good point. Why keep the Troops there is the Iraqis are taking August off?
Are they trying to pull out their Walmart implants that make them work ridiculous hours for low pay and no benefits?
Oh wait, they're the only ones left in America with decent pay and benefits.
Simon White-Thatch Potentloins @ 24:
I prefer penile, as in William Krystal is being locked up in a penile institution.
Bush Bites @ 12:
That's because she's stuck in the john.
It was a long two weeks without Stewart and Colbert....
Finally!!!!
So it wasn't hot there the last four years?
He damn well better not go on another vacation soon...I needed my Daily Show fix every night at 8, and going cold turkey for two weeks almost sent me over the edge!
Colbert, not so much...I'm getting annoyed by his self-centered Republican image, which he plays so well it doesn't seem like acting to me...
Veterans' Affairs Secretary Resigns
Huffington Post | July 17, 2007 12:29 PM
Secretary of Veterans' Affairs, Jim Nicholson, announced he will be resigning on October 1, 2007, according to a press release from his office.
Nicholson has weathered a number of scandals, namely the massive loss of veterans' data in 2006, since he was sworn in as Secretary of Veterans' Affairs on February 1, 2005. Nicholson was also criticized for claiming the number of injured vets is overblown since "a lot of them come in for dental problems."
Nicholson plans to return to the private sector. He did not release any definite plans.
Stewart was on fire. Great video
Simon White-Thatch Potentloins @ 24:
Wasn't that the real reason behind the Invasion of Iraq. Pure Oil!.

God help me I accidentally clicked the quicktime link-- now'll have Apple malware hijacking my browser and every application on the computer. days later i may get it all cleaned out! TDS was funny and on target, tho
Paul @ 10:
Thanks Paul... offers a wonderful--international--perspective. It's true... the world doens't give a frickin' hoot about what's happening in Hollywood when there are so many crises going on elsewhere. Really went to the shallowness of the MSM coverage of "news"... nothing fair or certainly nothing balanced about the US MSM "news".
Bill O'Reilly @ 25:
You're right... you really don't get it!
If the gov't is taking a month off in Baghdad, why not take a month off from killing, torturing, and raping too?
right on! @ 40:
And here I thought he didn't get any.
I tell you, I haven't laughed that hard in ages! And I am watching this shit in the library! The ass crack just did me in, put a fork in me, I'm done.
Man, I didn't know how much I missed Stewart and Colbert until I watched them last night. WELCOME BACK!!!
"Colbert, not so much…I’m getting annoyed by his self-centered Republican image, which he plays so well it doesn’t seem like acting to me…"
@wagonjack
But his skills only makes Colbert MORE wonderfully subversive with his clueless prey.
so that's why there's been no daily show clips lately...still glad i don't have a tv.
Regarding Condi's double-triple negatives. I remember a likely apocryphal story about a linguistics conference with a paper on double negatives. The speaker remarked that while a double negative in English (unlike some other languages) denoted a positive, a double positive never denoted a negative meaning. Somebody in the audience shouted out, "Yeah, right!" Brought the house down.
According to http://thettablog.blogspot.com/2005/06/ttablog-answer-to-double-positive...
the story I mentioned in 46 actually is true, and dates from the 50's.
For what it's worth.
I like the daily show, but I think it's a little bit hypocritical to assert that the Iraqi parliament shouldn't take a summer break without also asserting that the US congress shouldn't take a break. Isn't the US also at war? Will US soldiers get to take a break?
Thank Buddha that John and Steve are back. They are the only thing that is keeping progressive Americans sane.
One can only make so much fun of Tucker Closet Case Carlson so long before it gets tiring.

sad to say I'm not at all surprised that Tony Snow Whitey hates our troops and is willing to say so publicly, but even sadder is it doesn't surprise me that the reporter didn't ask the follow up question the Daily Show asked, it's not that hard...the comedians can do it then the serious people should be able to do it too. But maybe not, I keep seeing that this is no longer the America that I grew to love and respect, and the people are no longer the Americans who earned the worlds respect through our deeds.
About the capture image of the video.
Stewart's right to mock that behavior. Bush. You're not Zeus and that ain't Athena you're pretending to pull out. That is a dumb dramatic move. What are you going to do next? Grab you ear, tug a little, and start speaking in tongues?
I love the show, but Ron Rigle (sp) is a loeer. The Brit and the Mac guy are great, and Samantha Bee is fantastic. She is misused. Her greatest spot ever was when she reported o a hurricain from what turned out to be a carwash.
Thing Fish @ 52:
Carol Burnett would sue him.
