We have a near trifecta for Fox News...the bronze goes to the FoxNews Channel P.R. Department for a truly petty and immature little prank; the silver to Homeland Security's Fran Townsend (who really, might as well be a Fox News blonde) for a truly petty and immature reply to a legitimate question on homeland security; and the gold goes to the perennially petty and immature Big Giant Head.

I saw that woman give the speech about "al-queda". Man what a bunch of bullshit she was talking about. Again, fear is the only thing this administration does well.
Oh yeah, FIRST!
I think this is so juvenile, silly and sophomoric -- the "worst person in the world". This undermines the credibility of the Democrats. Let's focus on real problems, like getting the Democrat Congress to defund the War in Iraq, which they have the power to do NOW!!!
That'll show 'em!
i am a peaceful person, but if i saw mr. o'reilly on my block...i would throw eggs at him!
Betsy @ 2:
Betsy,
I don't think they can defund the war since they need a number of republicans to have pass the vote. I might be mistaken though
Geno in Ptown @ 1:
the problem is THEY aren't scared. they need some fear. fear of the hangman...cause thats what we do to traitors!
Geno, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG. All the Democrat Congress has to do is NOT PASS ANY FUNDING FOR THE WAR. PERIOD. There is nothing to veto.
I heard the interviw with Townsend on NPR on my way to work. It was amazing to listen to her dodge the question. It was equally amazing at how the interviewer asked the same question in different ways... I think it was 5 times...
She's just another tool for the coming dictatorship.
And Geno, if the Democrats in Congress will not do that -- but merely pretend to be trying to do something, they are worse than the Republicans (for pretending to want to stop the War in Iraq)! At least the GOP, albeit they are wrong on the war, are being honest with the American people in advocating for fighting in Iraq.
Obviously to be hired by the US government you have to be more stupid that the president. It gives you an idea on how low the bar is...
I like Keith, but damn he's getting predictable.
John, yah, you're right, Keith O., same old, same old -- it's becoming counterproductive merely bashing Bush. Keith needs to take the offensive and get the Democrat Congress to defund the War in Iraq, now.
Fran should have won the gold. BillO is a useless piece of fecal matter. Fran on the other hand was carrying water for the worst president in the world. So by association, she should be the worst.
Keith Olbermann is a bombast, just as is Bill O'Reilly.
If he truly wanted to be taken serious as a news journalist, he'd drop all the celebrity stuff and shenanigans such as the "Worst Person" bit. It's just old and tired and doesn't accomplish a thing. It's childish.
He's still a jock-sniffing wannabe from ESPN. A sports castoff, just like Rush Limbaugh.
pissed off, what good does it do merely saying Bush is the worst or Fran is the worst -- this is going nowhere but showing the impotence of the Dems. The ONLY solution is get the Democrat Congress to defund the war in Iraq.
Congress needs to tell Busholini "look, shit-fer-brains, you've jacked up the national debt to $9 TRILLION and, well, there's no more money for your Iraq fiasco!"
Stupidity oozes from the Morons mouths on Faux Noise. Once again Hilarious!!
Dr. Arcula, unfortunately nobody really understands the national debt, and anyway, unexpectedly, the national debt has been going down recently -- so the national debt is becoming a non-issue. We need to focus on USA out of Iraq.
Olbermann is the best at showing that the media isn't doing it's job, especially the Faux Noise liars.
If all else fails, quote ratings.
Betsy, what good does it do to keep repeating yourself? We know! We get it.
Feingold advocates that same thing. But there is a cautionary tale with the withdrawal that merits procedural discussion.
We can't just defund the war without also having a plan in place to ensure continued safety and protection for the people and government of Iraq.
Damn, I'm not even sure how to take my comment... I agree we need to get the F out... but, man we can't just bail. Can we?
Tarqa, just get out of Iraq now -- no more USA casualties. Period.
Betsy -- the budget deficit is "falling" (if you believe the BS artists in the WH), while the DEBT continues to climb ever higher.
Dr. Arcula, no, the national debt, albeit only recently, has been going down, at least in relation to the GDP. So, it really is a non-issue that nobody understands anyway. The national debt issue has absoultely no media appeal or sex appeal. It is boarrrrrrring.
Los Populistoi am a peaceful person, but if i saw mr. o’reilly on my block…i would throw eggs at him!
Can I help? Please.
I calculated that the War in Iraq costs about $30 per month per person (in USA) -- so although the billions sound like a lot, in relation to the GDP of the nation, it is not that much. The real position against our War in Iraq should be not one more USA casualty for Bush's phony War on Phony Terrorism.
The Outstanding Public Debt as of 19 Jul 2007 at 08:48:12 PM GMT is: $ 8,889,764,178,366.25
The estimated population of the United States is 302,473,121 so each citizen's share of this debt is $29,390.26.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.31 billion per day since September 29, 2006!
Yah Tarqa, and of that -- which goes all the way back -- Iraq is now costing $30 per month per USA person.
Thanks Targa @ 27. I understood and was not bored by the comment.
The war costs $30 per month per person? Okay.... We still have a 2,419.18 per month per person balance left over thanks to the Outstanding public debt.
Fuzzy math? Somewhere.
BTW, this is my last post on this subject. Way to hijack a thread Betsy.
Whatever. Keith is childish, inmature, same as Rush Limpballs...? Ooooookay. You guys...HE"S FUNNY!!! Given all the shit that's happening right now, I need FUNNY!!!! He's also hit a few of his special comments out the effin' ballpark. God bless 'em.
Multiply 30 times 300 million and you get 9 billion. So say, the Iraq war is costing 10 billion dollars per month. You see, not that much actually compared to the size of the economy, and also, we would have an army anyway.
Betsy - give it a rest already.
I nominate the Ghost of Falwell for 'Worst Person'.
It's little-known, but true, that not only does Bush get his Iraq war policy direction directly from 'GOD', but he continues to get his domestic policy direction from 'FALWELL'.
But...but...Falwell's dead, you say.
And since his death, the 'Falwell Seance Convocation' has been conducted daily in the White House, resulting in long monologues from Jerry directly into G.W.'s ear.
And 'FALWELL' was responsible for putting the kibosh on the health care plan for poor kids, because it was 'The Christian Thing To Do'.
I'm not sure 'FALWELL' should beat out O'Reilly for 'Worst Person', but I think he edges out Townsend, after all, Fran's just ignorant, while Jerry is ignorant and malicious.
Keith is funny. I don;t know what you people are all complaining about. What is wrong with us liberals anymore? Always bitching about everything. While the spineless DEMS in the senate keep giving this admin BJs.
And Betsy, getting out of Iraq is a noble thing to do, but there has to be good planning and lots of debate before we simply pull out. It is a simplistic view to keep saying "Get out of Iraq now". It is not a practical thing to do, unless we have a very good plan in place on how to withdraw.
bbwar @ 35:
Here's a plan: lots of big boats and big planes. Someone pay me.
Dr. Matt @ 36:
LOL, that was great *fumbles for cash money*
Ok, here's my dream ticket for 2012.
Al Franken/Keith Olberman
Two Progressive Bulldogs. Neither one of these two takes any shit from the wingnuts. It would be a "Battle Royale" between the Parties. Especially with a Majority in Congress as well.
Dr. Acula @ 23:
It's like saying "my cancer is spreading, but only slower than it use to be".
I have to have funny in my life these days or else I think I would lose it. Thank goodness for Keith, Jon and Colbert. Some times Fox is funny too, but they don't mean to be.
pissed off patricia @ 40:
have you had the pleasure of seeing 'lil bush'?
I'm a little leery that Betsy keeps refering to "The Democrat Congress". She said the GOPIGS were Republicans. I believe we have a Democratic led Congress. Have you been sneaking some time on Faux news, Betsy?
One of the great things about KO is that, unlike Bilious Oh Really?, he doesn't take himself seriously. He takes the subjects he reports seriously, but not himself.
Betsy @ 2:
How? They have tried. Do you have bright suggestions. I mean we are just talking. Right
Dontcha just love how if anyone (say, like Keith Ellison) compares the Bush Maladministration to the Nazis, the right wing fumes about the impropriety of such an outlandish analogy, but it is somehow defensible to compare people who type liberal opinions on the internet to the Nazis?
Betsy @ 2:
Ehh, I doubt that Keith's humor "undermines the credibility of Democrats." Perhaps the humor is sophomoric, but it is designed to call attention to some news tidbits in a less-than-serious way. It hardly refocuses our attention away from more important issues. It just provides some comic relief amidst all the frustration.
[deleted--sorry, we don't want Billo quoting you the next time he does a stunt like this] I'd like to see what the comments on Bill O'Reilly's official website forum are like, but being that you have to pay to use it I guess I'll never know. I doubt it's much better than the stupid, rogue comments at DailyKos.
To "bash" someone is to hold them up to unfair and repeated criticism by perpetuating lies and talking points.Keith may mock O'Reilly endlessly, but Bill deserves it because he continues to spread the most outrageous lies and accusations against people who don't support his stinking war.Keith is the cure not part of the disease.
KO is my hero. He exposes these nut cases for what they are. I heard Fran Townsend live the other day on her NPR interview, and I thought, OMFG. Truly unbelieveable. There is a terminal disease running throughout the bush administration.
Orwell's Illegitimate Son @ 14:
Lighten up, bastard. (before you moniter my comment, sitemonitor, the poster does say that he's orwell's ILLEGITIMATE son.)
One man's childishness is another man's humor!
As for a jock-sniffing wannabe, I find that people accuse others of the things they do themselves. 'nuff said???
I think "Betsy" was another "concern troll", like Griz from yesterday. Could even have been the same person - the posting style was similar, not to mention the constant harping of their message. They are both "Adherants of the Repeated Meme" and should be ignored.
NavyVet I think “Betsy” was another “concern troll”, like Griz from yesterday.
I thought that eariler when I read some of her postings.
Also, Keith owns the wingnuts. Lock, stock, and barrel.
