FOX Attacks: Bloggers

Oh, you knew this one was coming....

With the prospect of YearlyKos and the celebration of the liberal blogosphere just around the corner, Robert Greenwald's Brave New Films has a new progressive action video on FOX News's hackery:

If you want to fight back and become a "Fox Attacker", sign up here.

We're fighting back by identifying and calling all of FOX's advertisers. All of them. Particularly local advertisers who probably have no idea the kind of hatred their money is supporting.

This is not a boycott. We are simply calling advertisers and informing them about FOX. And making Bill O'Reilly's life a living hell.

Oh man, if we didn't think he was spiraling into insanity before, this will make Falafel Guy absolutely nuts!

No, right after the upcoming NFL season.

By the way - BREAKING NEWS: Pittsburgh Steelers rookie linebacker Lawrence Timmons has re-injured his groin, and the severity level is unknown at this time. Huge news here in Pittsburgh.

Hmm, let's see: anonymous internet posters on liberal websites vs. guests on Fox News like Ann Coulter who've made a CAREER out of hate speech.

The right wing blogs are thousands of times more vitriolic in posting violent hate speech and endorsing terrorist attacks, death threats and the overthrow of our government.
Why is it that no one is building this factual case in order to cudgel the right?
Just as MoveOn was tarred, just as Michael Moore was tarred, the right is now engaged in a concerted effort to marginalize the effectiveness of progressive blogs.
We have to play their game too. It’s our only recourse. We do not have the “mainstream media” on our side.
Some one should be documenting all the death threats, threats of violence, threats of terrorism against Democratic officials that is being posted and has been posted on right wing blogs. If this isn’t done, then we will all be tarred and marginalized, while the right again gets away with much worse behavior.

After reading the post just before this one about the slave labor, this stuff with BillO seems small potatores. I'm still in guilt shock. That wasn't anything done by "bloggers", that was a crime commited with the help of own government.

I patronize some of the busnesses and use some of the products that advertise on Fox. I will henceforth stop until they get the picture that it's bad business to have a lying loudmouth like Billo shilling for them.

Gosh, I'm sorry to say this. Some people are naive. Its as if these attacks are shocking behavior. If you think its shocking, then you still dont understand who you are up against.

These people really are Zero Sum Social Darwinists (ZSSD's) My accronym. They will say and do anything to get the win. They will define their win by your loss - you must lose for them to win.

In Trump Vs. Rosie, Trump always started with ' Rosie is a loser'. He is ZSSD. He is defining himself as a winner by defining Rosie as a loser.

You just dont stand a chance in a fight against these people if you dont understand who and what they are.

You should know by now the answer to the question - 'Oh my, why did they do that' - its in their nature. Its an expression of who and what they are.

They are dangerous.

How is that video going to have any impact? For all his advertisers know, Bill's telling the truth. Internet/computer shy people have no idea. If they read the comments that O'Reilly has cherrypicked, they don't understand that those are rogue statements amongst thousands. They also don't know that the right wing blogs are filled with the same kind of garbage, and many times worse. Let's say BMW, an advertiser on The O'Reilly Factor, is handed 10 horrible comments from Daily kos, or Crooksandliars, out of thousands of comments, and never actual posts, and they watch that video - they're not gonna understand what you're fighting for. They're not gonna know that those comments were cherrypicked.
What's better is scouring those right wing sites and throwing it back in O'Reilly, Melanie Morgan, and Malkin's face and calling them out on their shit. It's a lie and tremendous distortion, they know it's a lie, we know it's a lie, but their advertisers have no idea.

RayC's picture

Maybe there needs to be a reworking of the libel and slander laws or something because I for one am getting sick and tired of the unashamed lies that come out of the right wing media. They have been lying about the facts so that their opinions have some backing but in the light of truth their arguments fall completely apart. They know if they repeat the lies enough it becomes part of the assumed knowledge of the American people. There are several examples but the one I still hear all the time is that Al Gore claimed to have invented the Internet. The media is more than willing just to repeat these lies and use the excuse that they are just quoting and not telling the lie themselves

Boycotting their products isn't enough. What makes an impact is contacting FNC's advertisers and sponsors and ask them if they stand by the hate, disinformation, bias and vitriol.

kimbutgar's picture

Since this is the newest rallying cry from faux news, why are they so scared of bloggers? All the accusations they pointed out are what they are so guilty of and more.

Also saying Joe Klein is a liberal is like saying Bill O'Reilly is fair and balanced!

And why don't they mention the that brown shirt blogs are more venomous and full of hate then even the the harshest of left wing blogs. When the trolls come to the left blogs the only things they have say are it's Clinton's fault and liberals are gay. Do you get the feeling that there are a lot of sexually repressed brown shirts on the faux news side?

Advertisers are about money, they are required by law if they are publicly traded to be about money. That is why O'Riely stood on JetBlues neck and was successfull. Give you any ideas? Goose/Gander?

It really isnt legal for a public company to 'understand' anything. They are required by law to work to generate returns (financially based and responsibly) for their investors. I honestly expect the right at some point to bring some serious accusations to bear on public companies that 'back' the left on these grounds. They havent yet, but its a play and as such they will use it at some point.

(They cant touch the private companies in that way to my knowledge).

Mr Moo's picture

I used to be able to laugh at Fox News, now it just turns my stomach.

Will they ever be held to account? I doubt it. They cheered for the Iraq war but they wont ever accept their responsibility and they can count on the same old cretins to keep tuning in.

Salmineo's picture

Well, after all of this, a few things like that and the other thing, Senator Obama is right: Hillary Clinton is indeed "Bush Light".

Dumb and war mongering until it was OBVIOUS that public opinion was turning against the war, she flip-flopped.

I don't trust her.

I will only vote for the candidate that had the foresight to see this stupid war for what it was from the begining.....because THAT is true leadership. Goodby Dodd, goodby, Biden, Goodby HILLARY, see ya later Gov Richardson.

Hello new field of true leaders!

This is nothing new.

I've been documenting O'Rielly's hate speech for quite a while. I even created an interactive Flash portrait of O'Reilly that puts his unique abuse of language on display.

Bill O'Reilly: Propaganda Pimp

In a roomful of egomaniacal bloviating pundits, Bill O'Reilly would stand out as a towering infernal display of delusional demagoguery. Almost any random sampling of The O'Reilly Fester will reveal a man obsessed with his own righteousness.

Hello new field of true leaders!

That's fine for the primaries. As long as you still vote for the eventual Democrat candidate (no matter who it is) against the GOP. Since support for the war is a defining issue for you, I suggest that there should be a hierarchy of three categories. First, those who always opposed the war. Second, those who used to, but no longer support the war. Last, those who still support the war. Senator Clinton, in category two, would still be better than Romney, in category three....

Possibly. I've always tended to assume that people like O'Reilly and Coulter don't believe most of what they say and write, they just make statements that maximize their income and to hell with the damage that they do.

Suggesting (as some have) that O'Reilly is mentally lessens his his moral responsibility for his actions.

Reading Tyree's post above, and mind I don't care to feed trolls, I recall a line I am sure I saw in an early issue of MS Magazine (my wife was a charter subscriber; I read them them through as well): 'His penis is small and cannot spell.'

If the shoe, or penis sheath fits...

Can anybody find a citation for this? I've had no luck, and it is such a wonderful putdown of the spelling-challenged wingnuttia.

Fox is just political theater for the "right" vs. "left" BS the corporate media dog and pony show for the masses. At the top they're all united against the common folk. In a phony democracy like we have, the lying press works for both "sides" to keep people down in their "place". Greenwald seems to be part of this process of deception to continue to distract the masses with endless Billo rants and whines, while not really doing anything of substance to fight back. It's all freaking theater, I hope we wake up!

FOX "News" and commentary is the GOP's primary soap box.

This is most certainly NOT pointless. It is finally hitting the right-wing where it feels it most...the pocketbook. Would you spend your advertising money on a show that will cost you customers as a result? I've thought this should have been done with Rush Limbaugh years ago, so he would just dry up and go away.
