The story here was that Steven's criminal defense lawyers had advised him to only release a prepared statement (reviewed by them) and say nothing else. Unfortunately, this was a little too far over Dana Bash's head, and she chose instead to mindlessly repeat questions which she'd already been informed he would not answer - thus providing the illusion that she was "doing her job."

So I suppose he and his crooked pals own the raw land at the end of the bridges that were built. Wouldn't it be interesting to contact the county recorders office (public record) and find out?

I think the real reason Uncle Ted gets reelected over and over is the same reason most incumbents do. Oh and he brings billions to the State in pork!

The primary landholder and businessman on the island to where the bridge will be built owns a lumber mill and has recently purchased a timber sale from the State.

Roads would certainly benefit his business greatly. And he is definitely buddies with former Senator Frank Murkowski, and I can only assume that Ted would know him too.

The sad part is that the people who actually live where the bridges are to be built to (undeveloped land) live there because it is NOT developed, but alas, just like everything in this country...it is better to be rich than in the majority.

Sometimes it is very effective to put someone on the defensive and see how they respond. Two people can say the same words and come across very differently. There are researchers in social communication that believe that over half of the communication between people is non verbal. Couple that with inflection, stressors(buttons) even a statement that communicates almost nothing verbally can be telling. It was after all the manner in which Stevens dealt with the reporters question that induced these comments not the substance of what he said.

I just read an article where Stevens and Murkowski were pushing a law to prevent people from cutting the wood on the island. I wonder why?
