Mike's Blog Round Up
hi kids! skippy the bush kangaroo here (sans capital letters; thanks nicole!) subbing for the blog round-up, so here goes:
the repubs debated, romney was the nominal winner (and i tried my hardest to make a joke out of "romney" and "nominal" -- "rominal"?), but the fact remains, enthusiasm for republicans is low.
some people take issue with nytimes magazine's characterization of those who were against the war from the start.
whoops! where'd all those guns get to?
in case you were wondering, here's why i don't wear contact lenses, why i don't call myself a hero, and why i wouldn't whine about needing a vacation if i were in congress. oh, and happy birthday, us coast guard!
how's your mortgage doing? how about your credit rating? well, how about your paycheck?
ok, here's a quiz: which would be worse to be in aWol's america, the leaker in the gonzales-attorney firings, or a couple who hung the flag upside-down in protest? careful, it's a trick question!
that's it for today, kids! send your tips to skippybkroo at aol dot com, in blogtopia (and yes, i coined that phrase)!

For more C&L coverage of the FBI's raid of the suspected NSA leaker, see:
"Payback Time: FBI Raids Home of Suspected NSA Leaker."
I think I'm going to start taking bets on exactly when the economic bubble that has been created by easy credit and the expanding monetary supply will finally burst like a man who hasn't orgasmed in two weeks.
Also, I'm going to do the same regarding exactly when Martial Law will be instituted in the USofA, as well as when the 2008 election will be canceled.
For the first one, I say this October, just as in 1929. For the second, I say the day after the crash occurs, and the third, the day after the second instance happens.
Anybody want to jump in?
Thank goodness we paid off our mortgage earlier this year and sold the rental house we owned. Sometimes the stars just line up in our favor.
The piece about a "hero" is good. Something I have been thinking about a lot lately.
Good job, Skippy!
The housing bubble was created to pop. No way in hell it could continue. Now it's also harder for people to declare bankruptcy, so a lot of people were caught in this trap.
Orwell's Illegitimate Son @ 2:
Hard to tell. Bush Co could very easily hold this bubble together and keep the Dow propped up until they get out and ride off into the shadows.
Then when the Demented Democrats take office . . . . . . . POP! Pow!
[Deleted. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out]
Yeah, the republican debate was sad with the current pool of candidates. It's like a Van Halen concert without David Lee Roth (or even Hagar) and Michael Anthony. ...yeah... well, thats my analogy and I'm sticking to it.
"Romney was the nominal winner" with a link to a post (completely justifiably) ripping Romney to shreds.
that's retarded.
FYI, Ron Paul again won the online polls after the debate. Now I don't think he'll win the nomination, and I don't think he has significantly more support than his 3-5% poll numbers indicate, but the fact that he's won every post-debate poll and no one seems willing to report that makes me feel like we're living in some 1984-ish alternate universe where people have learned that they're not allowed to say certain things.
"LIBERTY" - look it up
P.S. I hadn't read any other posts before writing this. A quick scan indicates that some of these sentiments are shared.
So, it's 80% of the oil profits the oil companies want to steal. You wonder why the insurgents, (Iraqi Patriots) are fighting. You wonder why the parliment can't come to an agreement. Well, if you were going to be forced to give up 80% of all your resources, you might be a little disagreeable too.
[Deleted. Tin foil hat conspiracy theory]
The story featuring the Khuns is the most disturbing to me. I live in NC as well. What do you think they'll do to me if I hang the flag upside down?
Thanks for the round-up, skippy
How about we call the current crop of Republican presidential wannabes, Nominey's? Romney exemplifies this. Meaning of a role or status, existing in name only, or being of very small value; far below the real cost...
"The Pentagon has lost track of about 190,000 AK-47 assault rifles and pistols given to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005, according to a new government report, raising fears that some of those weapons have fallen into the hands of insurgents fighting U.S. forces in Iraq."
Gives new meaning to the term "friendly fire". If it was so sad and tragic it would be laughable.
The United States of America..
Here we are...
Where the people now all have common ground... regardless of party or ideolgy
THE PEOPLE (us = good, honest)
vs.
THE CRIMINALS AND LIARS (them = rove, bush, cheney, traitors, the media)
more on them....
Omertà (or a code of silence) has become the final bond holding the Bush administration together.
Honesty is dishonorable;
silence is manly;
penitence is weakness.
Loyalty trumps law.
Protecting higher-ups is patriotism.
Stonewalling is idealism.
Telling the truth is informing.
Cooperation with investigators is cowardice;

I thought the Iranians were arming the "bad guys". Oops, our bad. It was us after all.
If the two jackbooted ex-guardsmen who chose to overstep their authority and terrorize the Kuhn's feel so strongly about flag desecration, why don't they take issue with their commander in chimp and arrest him for writing on flags during photo ops?
Yay! @ 9:
"snark" - look it up
People get the government they deserve...
First it was 9/11 and I did nothing; then congress, without reading it, passed the Patriot Act, and I did nothing; then it was the War, and still I did nothing; then came the Military Commissions Act of 2006, and there I sat; I was told of rex84 and the prison camps, and I did nothing; I saw the Chemtrails and looked down; I saw the homeless and I looked away. The worst president and congress in history, and we may be the worst citizens in history.
The so-called "left" wants to chat it up like they are not 'sheeple'...but you are. Living on a longer leash dosen't mean you are free.
Tuesday, September 11, 2007, no permits, everyone is a speaker...show up in DC at noon, anywhere...the monuments, the reflecting pond, the WH...fill the streets with real patriotism and love of freedom, or we will be dieing in the streets real soon.
[Deleted. Smooth, real smooth. You are quite the charmer. Good bye]
"hi kids! skippy the bush kangaroo here (sans capital letters; thanks nicole!)"
OK... Now this is the real skippy!
Thanks for all the links on the Ignatieff piece. As Tom Tomorrow says, he was going pretty well until that egregious, inaccurate attack on the DFH. I'm really sick of the folks who got it wrong still taking pot shots at those who got it right, and contrary to the hawk's characterization of us, got it right for the right reasons. As Tomorrow observes, Ignatieff still has a long way to go.
By the way... we're going to war with Iran, as this Daily Show clip suggests

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“I know what value the U.S. government assigns to a soldier’s life,” Professor Bacevich wrote in The Washington Post. “I’ve been handed the check.” The amount, he said, was “roughly what the Yankees will pay Roger Clemens per inning.”
Giuliani's 17-Year-Old Daughter Indicates She's Backing Obama
WASHINGTON - Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuiliani's daughter is apparently backing Democrat Barack Obama for the White House. According to her Facebook profile, Giuliani's 17-year-old daughter, Caroline, belonged to Democrat Barack Obama's Facebook group "Barack Obama (One Million Strong for Barack)." She left the group Monday morning after the online magazine Slate sent an inquiry. Her profile can be viewed by Facebook users who have access to New York City's Trinity School or Harvard University networks. Caroline, who is Giuliani's daughter with his second wife, Donna Hanover, recently graduated from Trinity and will attend Harvard in the fall.
