DNC Launches "None of the Above" Campaign In Iowa
None of the Above has polled higher than Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, and all the other Republican presidential candidates, reflecting a lackluster field that isn’t catching on with the American people.
Because Republicans are clamoring for a change, None of the Above is testing the presidential waters. This week in Iowa, look for an ad in the Ames Tribune, in which None of the Above will ask for the support of Republican voters. You can view the ad by clicking here (PDF).
Only 1 in 5 Iowa Republicans “say they are satisfied with” their choices in the Republican caucus. The current field represents no new ideas, no strategy to end the war in Iraq, and no plan for America’s future.
Only one candidate has a plan -- and it’s None of the Above.
And now, None of the Above is asking for your support. Read more...

a goo goo goo
Can they run the same thing for the current Democratic candidates were are forced to endure?
I'll bet I could get on the ballot in every state if my name was 'None of the Above'.
It's amazing that Bush has lowered the bar through the floor for Republicans yet not one Republican candidate can rise above that. Did the Republican party pretty much blow their whole load for the next ten-plus years with Bush?
Why can't the Democratic party take more advantage of the worst President ever from the worst political party in a hundred years? Why can't they take a chance and start pushing for real change that will make a real difference in the immediate future?
I hate to say it but I wouldn't be shocked if Mitt or Fred go up against Clinton.
As dysfunctional as this Country has become it wouldn't shock me at all.
The best thing the Newtster had heard in a long time!!

It looks like the right are getting worried.
no_to_hrc @ 4:
I'll take a "Lady Hillary" any and all days of the week over a "King George".
Go play with yourself troll...
That's "George Dubai-ya Bush".
I don’t care much for Hill but the more the right wing neocons hate her the more I like her. And Bill would be the “First Man”. There should be a lot of right wingers stroking out come 2009
isn't his formal name "nunally a. bove"?
When it comes the time, the Reds are going to put one man in. Be it Rudy, Mitt, Fred, or Adolph Hitler.
Whoever can make feel them great and safe.
No serious candidates for he GOP this year. They know theyll lose so why waste valuable men.
Watch the mighty media campaign against the next Democratic president. They wil go from defense to offence. The theme will be treason wether or not the Dems pulls out ot Iraq. 2 years later the GOP takes back congress and in 2012 the White House. The Dems will by that time be painted as commies and al qaida supporters.
Why can't the DNC start being for something that the people want rather than playing politics? It doesn't really matter what dufus the Republicans get for their candidate as the Republican die-hards would vote for a dirty cat litter box as long as it was anti-abortion so this is wasted effort. They should start talking about universal health care and reform in our government so that special interests no longer run things.
Smack_dab @ 15:
The "invisible hand" of Corporate interests thats why.
Have any of the democratic candidates even mentioned the FISA bill that congress passed before getting the hell out of Dodge???? Have ANY of them uttered a word?????
Have any of the top three candidates called for the impeachment and removal of Alberto Gonzales, or George Bush????
I'm sick of the democrats. They are nothing but a bunch of yellow bellied dogs that wet themselves everytime they think about having to try to stand for something.
So far I am voting for Kucinich. That little man has principles, and knows right from wrong, and isn't playing politics.
Damned weak kneed, impotent, inconstant, lying democrats. I would like to see each and every one of them that voted for that bill booted out of office. They are traitors!!!!
jeb bush will enter the race by november.
freaking brilliant. love the bio
Captain Kangaroo @ 11:
Ya know what Cap'n, no matter who we run, the repugs will try and hamstring them. We could run Jesus Christ himself and they'd label him a dirty rotten hippy. So of all the canidates currently running, she's the only one that can both get some policy pushed through and beat off the right wing attack machine. She saw what they did to Bill. I'll bet she's already got a counterrightwing nut job agency in place. Let's face it, there's no sense getting a president elected that gets tripped up at every turn.
Hillary will never be My gal
The queen of lobbying.....
Don't worry Bush and Iraqi war lovers
If you liked George, you are going to love Hitlery Clinton.
And lobbyists take heart
You can save some of your hard-earned money and still get your laws passed by Hitlery
I know it cost 200,00 to be a Bush ranger but you can be a Hillraiser for the bargain price of only 100,000.
You will soon be calling her "Lady Dubya"

It wouldn't shock me either. Americans will only vote for the candidate that can smile straight and blow smoke up their ass... their actual policy is totally irrelevant.

No. I think the one and only good thing that will come out of this is no Bush will ever have a shot at political office again. Until at least 2088.
Blue Buddha @ 25:
That's not true. If they're a Republican, they have to be a gay-hating bigot, too.
Why would this be an effective ad? Why wouldn't they use the money to remind people how suckie george bush and the republicans are now? You know... Iraq, Iraq... Iraq?
We'll looks like the weekend crashing message board is starting up again. Right on schedule.

Hopefully I can vote for Ralph again
Go Hill!! Go Hill!! Go hill!! You’re my girl!! And I’m so glad that Rudy has a good gay following. Really I am.
Will the American people find enough heart and determination to defeat the GOP master plan: Destroy the people's faith in government to the extent they stop participating in elections.
You know Bush and Cheney will continue to exploit a Congress that does not understand its Constitutional role on checks and balances. You know the GOP will obstruct every chance they get because it is to be expected from a party that is antigovernment. And yes, the occupation of Iraq in the quest for world geopolitical domination will still continue to ignite more outrage and disgust here around the world. So prepare yourselves for the even rougher times ahead in order to still have enough gumption to make a rational decision as to who you will vote for in the primaries and presidential electon.

Obviously, you have been listening to right wing talk radio enough that it has damaged your brains. What is this gobbledegook? It is incoherent as political commentary. And it isn't even funny.
"Hitlery?" "Lady Dubya?" I mean, come on. Making up silly names for the political opposition is weak, weak, weak.
By the way -- it isn't censorship for the moderator to delete multiple posts. It is hygiene. You are being an ass.
-- Bokonon
this is a dumb ad. They should be talking about health care and sponsoring viewings of no end in sight and sicko. Really dumb to make fun of half the electorate. Real issues going on and they are buying ads based on polls. Oh how about the tornado in God damn Brooklyn. Katrina so on et al. So many better wayts to spend ad money. Or how about 30 seconds on their marriages. That would be better than this.
"None of the Above" couldn't be winning because they didn't give an option to vote for Ron Paul, could it? No, of course not!
Actually, it is because they excluded Ron Paul. I'd like to see the numbers if people had the option to vote for any of the candidates. I guess we'll see tomorrow at the Iowa straw poll!
The current field represents no new ideas (Ron Paul has some interesting ideas)
no strategy to end the war in Iraq (Ron Paul has been against the war from the start, unlike Clinton, and wants to get out of Iraq IMMEDIATELY, again, unlike Clinton. She'll get out eventually, but she'll probably go somewhere else. Remember, Obama and Clinton aren't anti-war, they're just anti-this war.)
and no plan for America’s future. (Ron Paul does)
They're using Neo-con poll numbers as the foundation of this little campaign. The polls excluded Ron Paul, so this campaign does too. It's sad to see Ron Paul getting grouped with the Neo-cons because Ron Paul brings so much to this race, and he deserves better than that. Do yourself a favor and research Ron Paul's viewpoints (it's basically the Constitution) rather than getting caught up in the old Red team vs Blue team cheerleading shenanigans.
Kudoes to Howard Dean.
Great ad by the DNC.
Of course, Republicans will steal the idea like they steal everything.
But, in the meantime, we Democrats can have fun poking at the soft underbelly of the Republicans (Rachel Maddow phrase) by pointing out that all patriotic Democrats are "None of the Above" nutty neo-con "culture of corruption" Republicans trying to steal another election.
Andy @ 48:
I wish could edit this rather than posting again. Sorry about the repost.
Anyway, what I'm saying is: don't judge Ron Paul based on the fact that he has an -R by his name. He's not like the Neo-cons. He's actually a libertarian, and he actually brings something to the table.
Is that the DNC or the RNC? Seems like any move to get rid of the current crop of losers would help the Republicals. Why would the DNC want to do that?
So their ad campaign is to steal Richard Pryor's 1985 movie 'Brewster's Millions' ?
Of course, in Canada this role has been fulfilled by the Undecided Party (www.undecidedparty.ca) for years now.
Gutsy move by the DNC after the FISA cave. Might give people ideas.
I like the new campaign. Kudos to the DNC
It's a "NOBODY FOR PRESIDENT" moment
Ugh, I am a pretty liberal guy but I dislike the choices on the democratic front too. Hillary will bring armageddon, and I am not sold on Barack any longer.
The only serious nominee I feel would be best for America is Ron Paul. He is the man I hope to be voting for next year.
Doggiebobo @ 8:
Hillary = Walmart
Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate, Dem. or Rep. that will end this phony war.
Why is everyone afraid to even mention Ron Paul's name? I understand all your progressives don't like the idea of "take 100% responsibility for yourself" that is understood, but he wants to down-size government, restore some semblance of actual freedom, and he is THE ONLY principled man running. Doesn't take lobbyists money, isn't bought and paid for by the big corporations. The only honest member of congress!!!!His voting record proves it. Someone prove to me I am wrong and I will eat my hat. Prove to be Obama or Hillary or that Fraud Julie-annie is better.
Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
He will abolish the IRS
He will abolish the Federal reserve.
He will repeal the 16th amendment.
He will restore states power/rights to debate such issues as abortion.
Please look him up.

Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney
What debate would you want to see?
Yea the ass holes finely sent me polling data to form my opinion and that is exactly what I entered on mine. NONE OF THE ABOVE.
They must read crooks and liars too, but that still does not dismiss the fact that the polling data is bogas and I plan to continue to complain about the misleading poll data we are getting from right wing media.
You fools are not going to select our president. We will do that ourselves, thank you very much.
Will you Paulites please masturbate somewhere else? There are lots of porn sites out there, and this isn't one of them.
Wait, I take that back.
I've been following US politics for so long, I'm starting to think I have a stake in America's success. I don't. I have a stake in America keeping her fucking hands off of the rest of the world!
So please, go vote for the Reverse Communist. His isolationist policies would be great for the rest of us. No more US jackboots on every continent. And if his "no taxes at all" libertarianism causes the US economy to crash, who gives a fuck? We'll all soon be using Euros anyway. And if he destroys American women's lives by banning abortion, at least B2s won't be taking the lives of non-American women anymore. And if his "no regulation" stance results in the US corporations destroying the health and environment of the US the same way the Cinese are doing to themselves, what does it matter to the rest of us? Maybe we can invade you for a change in 50 years, when you've self-destructed to a suitable degree. I'm sure you'll welcome us as liberators.
The only problem I see is that you'll still be killing all of us via global warming.
Damn, I knew there had to be a catch.
Reminds me of Wavy Gravy's "Nobody for President" campaign.
Stuart,
If that is all you hold against Ron Paul, the fact that you MIGHT die from global warming, them matey peep your're onto a winner. Consider this, if you had to choose a politician soley on the basis of honesty and integrity, and what the hell lets go fo it, a principled voting record, there is only one choice, democractic or republican; Ron Paul.
Obama spectacularly opened the doors on his inexperience on foreign affairs by claiming he would risk starting a nuclear war with a country by conducting military operations within it, what a BERK! He was my choice for the dems but that statement even though it was made for political purposes was so ill-judged it was embarassing.
A couple of days later when asked how he would act on the Iraq, Paul just simply said,
"Just come home".
If you if can't stand his supporters, you have to admire his courage, candour, honesty and spine.
Your're just in denial!
Like I said, as long as the jingoes don't elect another "adventurous" bastard who thinks it's Amurka's "destiny" to place the world under her "benevolent" rule, knock yourselves out!
Whether you allow the no-nothings who appoint Creationists as education ministers to rule what you can see on TV or can say on the intertubes or do with your own bodies, or you elect libertarians who will let the Corporations do exactly the same, doesn't matter to me anymore. As long as you keep your nukes, your cluster-bombs and your clusterfucks at your home, not mine, that's fine.
At the moment, all that allows me to sleep at night is knowing that I am white, nominally Christian, and not sitting on any oil. But I know that these criteria for "safeness" can easily be changed, as long as you have pricks in charge who believe in "manifest destiny", or are just greedy fuckers.
Nun of the above for president? We're going to have to watch our knuckles from yardsticks.
Oh, that was none...?
Nevermind.
If Nun's were above, would that make us the bottoms?
timmm @ 62:
Mr Ed vs Francis the Talking Mule.
Perry911 @ 59:
Yeah, but the blood and guts are real.
I remember reading a paperback back in the day entitled, Linda Lovelace for President.
It supposedly took place in the election of 1974 or 76, after Watergate, and they knew the only person who could win was either Jesus or Linda Lovelace.
(I suppose Jesus coudn't run for office, because the lawncare service he worked for wouldn't give him the time off.)
L.A. Confidential @ 5:
No kidding.
Mitt has decided that there's no future in appearing to be intelligent, or in having discernible thoughtful positions on ANY issue. He's liable to have the nomination wrapped up by the time they count the ballots in the New Hampshire primary. The public is pretty lame right now, and Republicans know that.
Stuart @ 64:
Stuart, you need to educate yourself.
He is not for eliminating taxes completely, he wants to eliminate the income tax!! The income tax only goes towards the paying off the federal deficit, it has nothing to do with paying our roads, bridges, schools, that is all STATE!! He wants to restore states rights to decide many issues. Also, your income is your own property and should not be taxed. If it is to be taxed it needs to be apportioned like the constitution demands.
He is not an isolationist, he is a non-interventionist. He preaches open trade, and friendship with neighboring countries. He also says the reason we get into so much trouble abroad is because we pick sides, entangle ourselves in crazy messes, we have military bases in over 170 countries. We can not sustain our empire!!! He wants to protect our borders HERE, not worry about the border between Iraq, and Iran!!. Please educate yourself before spouting off non-sense!
Abortion- Again, you are either misinformed or a liar. He wants to restore state rights to decide what is best for each state. If one state wants abortion, so be it, if the other does not, so be it. Instead of having federal law decide (roe-vs-wade)
That is his whole point. The federal government dictating all these rights, beliefs, etc is destroying the very fabric of what this country was founded on.
Read, educate yourself..Maybe you might learn that Ron Paul truly is the peoples choice.
syborius @ 75: Maybe you might learn that Ron Paul truly is the peoples choice.
You people scare me, you literally do. You go on about him like he's some sort of religious saviour! You're either a bunch of paid astro-turfers, or you need therapy.
Look at how most of the Lefties here talk about their candidates. Everyone else has reservations about even their favourite candidates. They're aware that each candidate has at least some weaknesses. The Paulites walk in lock-step and praise him as the new Messiah! I guess that comes from being a Republican - free thought bad, supporting your man good!
And lay off with the "States Rights" bullshit. Any Progressive has long since worked out that States Rights is a code-word for racism and oppression. If I even have to explain why to you, you're a lost cause.
I don't know wht you bother. No-one on the Left is going to vote for Paul. He'll be destroyed in the primaries before they get the chance. And very, very few would be stupid enough even if he did miraculously get the support of the troglodytic, racist, misogynist, corrupt and willfully ignorant 29%ers.
Damn, 24 hours after promising I'd quit giving a fuck about the politics of a foreign country, I'm sucked back in again.
Stuart @ 76:
Ok, let's make generalizations about people! I'll stoop to your level for a minute. Why is it that all anti-"Paulites" need to use ad hominem attacks to make a point? It seems to me like they don't really know enough to make a point without it. Ok, I'm done. Let's get back to intelligent discussion, please.
Ron Paul has his faults, just like any politician. As a libertarian, I hate his anti-immigration policy. He's a little too anti-abortion for my taste as well. The reason Ron Paul supporters love Ron Paul so much is because he doesn't have the usual faults of politicians: dishonesty and a desire to run other peoples' lives. Believe it or not, lots of people don't want to be controlled by the government; they want to live their own lives. Ron Paul is kind of the last hope for these people, as far as presidential candidates go.
I find it hilarious and a little depressing that you think states rights is more oppressive than federal law. Actually, they are equally as oppressive, but federal law stretches itself over many more people and has less chance of being changed. Federal law oppresses more people! The more centralized a government is, the more oppressive it is. Just look at the Soviet Union, to name one example. A state law could be just as oppressive and wrong as a federal law, but at least I have the option of moving to another state to get away from it. And of course you're talking about slavery when you say that. But guess what? Slavery is over! Slavery should not be used as an excuse to centralize the government. I don't want to be punished for the mistakes of some assholes 200 years ago.
I don't understand how someone in another country could be against Ron Paul this aggressively. Whether you agree with his domestic policy or not (seems to me like that shouldn't matter as much to you anyway), his foreign policy is great for the entire world. He wants to stop preemptive war and trade with other countries. You must really be entertained by war or something.
I am talking about civil rights, not slavery. I'm not quite the moron you assume.
I am also talking about the fact that at federal level, Row vs Wade will never be repealed, even by a conservative government (as we have seen) whereas several states would do so in a heartbeat.
I am anti-Paul because I am anti-religion (aka pro-free thought). And the comments the Paulites come up with sound religious to me. As I said, his supporters don't even mention his failings, until pressed really hard. In fact, Andy, you're the first to actually voice some reservations, for which you have earned my respect, for what little it's worth.
I am actually pro-America because I'd prefer to be ruled by America than by China, but I'd just prefer that America to be Just and Free. And there's a better chance that America will one day be like that (it never was, but at times it came damn close) than of China ever being anything but authoritarian and totally self-interested.
Stuart @ 78:
I understand what you mean. Ron Paul supporters get a little over-zealous at times, but that's because we believe that he's the only candidate with the peoples' interest in mind. This government is becoming this weird hybrid of fascism and socialism (more fascism than socialism for now) and the American people (at least the ones that are paying attention) want to put a stop to that. We believe that Ron Paul will be a big part of the restoration of the Republic, which to me is a step in the right direction. That's why Ron Paul supporters don't talk about his faults; Ron Paul is not about the issues like the other candidates, he's about bringing this country back to its Constitution. That's much more important than his stance on abortion, wouldn't you agree?
