Mike's Blog Round Up

Hello again, I'm Mark Hoback from The Aristocrats, and I'll be filling in all week here at Mike's Blog Roundup.

Let me start with a piece that might just blow your mind, or maybe just your lunch. It's philosopher king Phil Atkinson from Family Security Matters on Conquering the Drawbacks of Democracy. Sample capture:

"President Bush can fail in his duty to himself, his country, and his God, by becoming 'ex-president' Bush or he can become 'President-for-Life' Bush: the conqueror of Iraq, who brings sense to the Congress and sanity to the Supreme Court."

Eatbee's Blog uses the piece as the center for Neoconservative Death Throes, but I'm afraid that corpse may still have a lot of life left in it.

Sure, bringing sense to the Congress and sanity to the Supreme Court is nice, but what about the true breeding ground of chaos and rebellion, the family dinner table? Of course, as the good Reverend Wiley Drake will tell you, when all else fails, you can always count on the power of

Imprecatory Prayer.

Whew. I feel dirty after all of that. What I really need right now is something inspirational, like this lighthearted piece about Karl Rove's dad.

Maybe that last piece proves something, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. So if anybody was offended by the inclusion of such a piercing article, please accept my Unpology.

Mervgate! What else is there to say? (Except, perhaps, for "We'll be right back".)

And I'll be right back tomorrow. If you have any tips, send them to mhoback AT verizon Dot net.

The bit about Karl Rove's dad does not surprise me. In fact, it would explain a lot. Seems to be a lot of that in the Neo Con circles, people affraid to be who they really are, or affraid of where they came from.

It is a really creepy trial balloon to float, but then again, does *anything* this Administration, and its minions surprise you anymore?

I’ve gotten inured to it.

“Family Security Matters” is a front for the Center for Security Policy (CSP)

The Center For Security Policy was one of my DC payroll clients, nice people, you’d never guess what they were up to by the way they carried themselves, or how many heavy hitters are on their staff.

Had more than one interesting conversation there.

One thing though, right when you walked in the door of their office, they had the mammoth blow up version of this pic of Reagan all nice and framed and placed so that there was no way you could avoid it.

Damn near gave me a coronary the first time I went in there.

Someone tell me that Phil Atkinson piece is satire. It sure reads that way. If he's serious, then oh.my.god.

Maybe I'm just dense today, but is that story about Rove's dad true? It sounds so out there, but maybe it isn't. If it's true, that would explain some things about Rove's personality.

i>The wisest course would have been for President Bush to use his nuclear weapons to slaughter Iraqis until they complied with his demands, or until they were all dead.

Uh, there's a word for that - it's "genocide". Remember, we defeated the Germans and Japanese in WWII for practicing exactly what Atkinson advocates. I can't accept the idea that people like Atkinson are serious. I personally believe that they are total con artists; shills completely devoid of any conscience who will literally write anything for a pay check.

Rove is in love with bush, always has been, always will be. Perhaps in his secret moments, he's a lot like his dad, but his dad just seems to be such a nicer fellow and definitely more interesting. You know, the kind of guy you could actually have a beer with, and not get stuck with a lousy nickname in the process.

Jesus Fucking Christ! That "opinion" piece by Mr. Atkinson scared the living hell out of me (and I didn't think that was still possible after 7 years of "War on Terror"). How can any person working for any American think-tank call for a dictatorship, especially a dictatorship of the current President Bush.

It is amazing though, the supposed libertarian views of the supposed conservatives have been compromised so thoroughly that they would advocate for a military backed dictatorship.

dothehop's picture

You just have to believe after reading the Atkinson piece that most of the Shrub's continual backers are pure authoritarians at heart. All of their actions as well as the Shrub and his inner circle have done everything they can to undermine our constitution and move the US to an authoritarian state. All of those little private counsels held in the WH have been more to reaffirm Shrub in this position and tell him that is what he should be doing and it is right.

You may have noticed that Family Security Matters (FSM!) has a .org which normally denotes a tax free non-profit. If they are not advocating violent overthrow of the government they are, at least, taking a partisan position which should deprive them of their tax-exempt status. This article needs the widest possible public and judicial hearing.

Actually, that story about Rove's father does not surprise me one bit. In fact, I bet Rove has some sick things he does as well. Most Republicans usually do. Sure, they put on a pure, clean cut outward appearance but 9 times out of 10 behind the scenes, they are the sickest people around.

I think that everyone should try to read Atkinson's bio. If you want to talk about feelings of persecution and inadequacy, this guy fits the bill. What we need is a psychologist to analyze him and others that think like him and provide suitable treatment so that they can actually become productive members of society.

Just for the records: Philip Atkinson is no educated philosopher, - he just chooses to call himself that, because he does not "hate the truth" and because he has created for himself "a simple theory which outlines the process of communal rise and decline".

This "Bush-for-life" guy is, in no uncertain terms, inciting the violent overthrow of the US government. I'm not sure at what point between inciting and acting it becomes treason, but this guy is close in my opinion. Not even any of the so-called terrist plots defeated by our vigilant DHS were aimed at overthrow of our Democracy. Perhaps just being a NeoCon gets you an automatic "not guilty by reason of insanity" for all of your treasonous un-American activities.

And, of course, psychos like this are mentally incapable of seeing that they are exactly the same as the terrists they hate so much.

But IMHO, we will see a "Bush-for-life", or at least a NeoCon for life soon. Rove, physically in the WH or not, has been and I'm sure still is working on converting the voting machines to use Rovian mathematics. And vote caging and any other form of illegal election stealing. He probably even threw 2006 to the dems to make their control of the election process look weak. A classic misdirection to lower an opponent's vigilance. For all the talk of Rove's "failure," Bush still gets his way on things Iraq. On all DOJ malfeasance. On outing of covert agents. And so on. I think his greatest success has been to hide all of his successes under an appearance of failure. No one works too hard to protect themselves from a failure.

The crimes of this administration are so many and so terrible that there is no way that they will ever allow a non-Con president. They won't chance a President Obama with unitary executive powers investigating them now that they've given the presidency so much power to investigate anything it wants. I'm sure "Why be a Richard when you can be a Dick" Cheney would enjoy spending the next four years (at least) wondering if his phone is being tapped and who's reading his email. Or if a black helicopter is on its way to take him to some country specializing in data extraction. Or perhaps to take him for a nice relaxing "dunk in the water." This regime has done more damage to our *Democracy* than all of our enemies combined. Less physical and monetary, but they're working on that.

There is a lack of trust between the US Army and Iraqi forces. When a container carrying over 200,000 AK-47s arrived at the base where my acquaintance was training Iraqi soldiers, my acquaintance had it immediately re-sealed and sent to another base. No one was sure who had approved the order. The documents inside the container were written in the native language.

There is bad coordination all around. All US army issued weapons have serial numbers and are relentlessly re-counted and tracked. The army's claim to fame is regimentation, that it keeps track of people and equipment at all times. I'm not sure when, if ever, these AK-47s were entered into the army's tracking system. It's even weirder that people somehow found out about the AK-47s and were approaching the base to ask for "souvenirs" after the weapons had been shipped to the other base.

The opinion piece by Phil Atkinson from Family Security Matters is more support for my theory that the neo-fascists in the Bush administration will use some real or imagined terror threat to declare martial law and really officially eliminate the constitution, they've already eliminated the Bill of Rights, and establish a fascist dictatorship. This brings up something I've considered recently. The US in WWII was able to do a very good job of managing a massive amount of resources all over the world. That was the key to their success. In O:IF, however, there seems to be a complete lack of interest in macro-organization by civilian leaders.

And when Rumsfeld testified duing the 9/11 Commission hearings, Sen. McCain demanded to know who was in charge of Abu Ghraib, and SoD refused to answer. I wonder if the chain of command is in such dissary that it wasn't possible to know.

The site includes pictures of piercings of any body part you can imagine, so it has probably made its way onto some blacklists. The Huffington Post has a Sept '06 piece about publication of The Architect that mentions that Rove's dad was gay. The article in BMEzine certainly adds a surprising twist, given the politics, but it rings true as a personal essay, IMO. Of course, even mentioning this means we're invading Rove's privacy over what wingnuts must view as a "sordid" affair. They are the seeds of their own destruction.
