Broder???? Figures. When will that old fossil just dry up and blow away?
"The Dunce of Lapdogs - David Broder" I prefer the wankiest of the wankers-Broder
Or, there's MY choice:
Lute 2008: Support the troops by installing one as military dictator.
Eleanor Clift?
If Hagel wants to run Third Party, good. He'll take more votes from the Republican nominee.
Don't write Frist here.
I'm always 50/50 on what Broder has to say. I think this is more like pie-in-the-sky dreaming on his part, rather than the reality of what is really going on.
I think Fred Thomson is more likely to FINALLY run for president before Hagel/Bloomberg (or Bloomberg/Hagel) run.
But it just goes to show you: GW/Rove/Chaney/Al "Tourcher Boy" Ganzalez/Rumsfailed and all the rest, have crashed what is means to be conservative, much less, a leader into the ground, that now, ANYBODY or any combination of people look better than what those dick-heads have done for the last 7 years.
Everyone knows that Fred Thompson is campaigning, he just doesn't have the moral integrity to say so.
Seems the first time I ever heard it mentioned was on one of the Sunday morning shows some time back. Might have been Bob Schieffer when Hagel was his guest. So my guess is Bob Schieffer.
the 'dean' of the press corp, bwahahaa
and instead of leading the discourse, of setting the tone, or what have you, he is just about always a day late and a dollar short. he runs smack dab into the brickwall, gets up, runs right back into the same brickwall, gets up, runs straight into the aforementioned brick wall, gets up... etc.
no, this man is a total fool. the 10% het gets right is just luck.
he is consider the dean of the press corp, which illustratives just how much the press corp sucks. sucks, sucks, sucks.
I'd prefer to see a "Bloomberg-Feingold" ticket myself. I don't like Hagel's voting record, the fact that he is a Republican (albeit a progressive one), and his world view in general. Simply put: Hagel can't be trusted.
I guessed right, you vituperative foul-mouthed blogger on the Left.
Feingold wouldn't run with Bloomy. Bloomy might be a jew, but he's a rotten man of zero integrity. Feingold is down with the working class. It's a shame he isn't running.
I'd vote Feingold-Boxer in a heartbeat.
Bluegal @ 15:
Thanks, I hadn't read that one in a while!
I'd say the man had lost his mind, but I think it's just that he's got a column to fill.
Call me a loon, but this is actually an attractive ticket for me. The way I look at it, Bloomburg has so much wealth he wont directly owe anyone any favors. Except the people that vote for him that is. I dunno, at this point I would take just about anyone who could stay away from corporate money donations, Dems included. Yea I know thats a cynical viewpoint but thats how far my hope for the future as fallen.
...Has fallen rather...
I would vote for Bloomberg/Hagel sooner than I would Clinton/Anybody. Or Oama/anybody. Or Richardson/Anybody.
When will General BETRAYUS?
Did people miss the possible cancer cure in post 3?
I realize some bloggers don't like David Broder, but he does put his NAME and FACE next to the stuff he writes.
Gene @ 23:
His name would've been enough - the face just adds insult to injury ;)
thanks for the OT post anon. That is absolutely incredible. We all need some good news these days. He's from NE Ohio Too just like myself.
Hey ho way to go OHIO!!!

Hagel sounds almost reasonable until you go look at the candidates his Sandhills PAC supported last November.
Mike DeWine, Rick Santorum, Jim Talent, and Conrad Burns lead the list of who got cash from his PAC.
After the MN bridge collapse, Hagel went on TV calling for privatization of interstate highways to fund their rebuild. Turning our interstates over to corporate America, killing the Eisenhower interstate system to "save" it.
Hagel is worse than Bush. He's just as rightwing, only Hagel isn't stupid.
LAFilmguy @ 18:
Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. Not so thrilled with Hagel, but Bloomberg's been on both sides, most recently parting ways with the right, and he might be the best shot any third party candidate has ever had. His financial resources alone make him formidable. DC is severely broken and needs a jolt, and a third party guy would shake things up considerably IMO. On Hagel...at least he's willing to call BS on Iraq. Frankly compared to most of the rethugs he looks pretty good....but I would prefer someone else as VP should Bloomberg run.
Broder is a conservative piece of shit and always has been. I don't give a flying fuck what he says, ever.
Is David Broder right about anything?
David Broder is only three months late with his column. This story has been around since May and when Hagel appeared on Face The Nation he said nothing to deny the story.
“Hagel’s ethics filings pose disclosure issue” -- “The Hill” 1/29/2003
On October, 10, 2002 Bev Harris, author of the upcoming “Black Box Voting: Ballot-Tampering” in the 21st Century, revealed that Republican Senator Chuck Hagel has ties to the largest voting machine company, Election Systems & Software (ES&S). She reported that he was an owner, Chairman and CEO of Election Systems & Software (called American Information Systems until name change filed in 1997). ES&S was the ONLY company whose machines counted Hagel’s votes when he ran for election in 1996 and 2002. The Hill, a Washington D.C. newspaper that covers the U.S. national political scene, confirmed her findings today and uncovered more details.
Hagel’s campaign finance director, Michael McCarthy, now admits that Senator Hagel still owns a beneficial interest in the ES&S parent company, the McCarthy Group. ES&S counts approximately 60 percent of all votes cast in the United States.
