Not much Craig can deny after you see this presentation. No wonder why he plead guilty and my pal at Capt. Quarters wants him out of the GOP. It's for the sake of a sinking party...Craig wouldn't have to go to sexually active men's rooms if it wasn't for the homophobia that lives and breaths in the GOP.

that's some high quality reporting right there. i smell an emmy...
He's on cspan now denying everything he plead guilty to, and playing the victim in an Oscar-worthy performance! :D
I'm not sure what's more disturbing...the reenactment, the homophobia, the hypocrisy...
ha ha the anchor man is wearing sandals! at least now i know that they are wearing pants.
Another Repiglican scumbag... one of those self-righteous church-going closet perverts like the rest of 'em. He'll probably claim that he was abused as a child or some such horse-shit.
I have never heard of that foot tapping thing. I may have absent mindedly tapped my foot in a bathroom stall once or twice. I haven't ever played footsie with anyone though. This doesn't seem like enough to prosecute. Where is the solicitation? Where is the indecent exposure? This sounds like entrapment. However, I think it's funny that a repug senator doesn't know his rights. It serves him right for being a fascist hypocrite who never read or upheld the Constitution a day in his life.
But here's the really stunning news: GOP TO MOVE INTERNAL DEBATES FROM CLOAKROOM TO BATHROOM
What's behind the right's different response to David Vitter's call girls and Larry Craig's boy trouble? In a nutshell, the boys.
As the old expression goes, you are what you eat. And that imagery, apparently, is behind the growing conservative chorus calling for the resignation of disgraced Idaho Republican Senator Larry Craig.
For the details, see:
"Behind the Right's Double Standard on Craig and Vitter."
[...] i was tempted not to say anything about the latest republican family values hypocrite flavor of the week, larry craig. this is too much, though. [...]
capnmike @ 5:
And then he'll go to jeebus camp for a month and declare himself cured/forgiven.
From what Craig said he didn't tell his wife and family about the arrest until just recently. If my husband had been arrested on the same charges he was, he would come home tell me that he had been accused of something that he didn't do. He wouldn't hide it from me.
Sorry Mr Craig, I'm not convinced that your story is true.
Angry One @ 8:
In the twisted right wing world...it's ok to cheat on your wife with another woman...but not with another man...its ok to have sex with minors...as long as its a female and not a man...
Homosexuality is a sin against god...so...no forgiveness.
Very easy to understand.
I guess being caught w/a live boy IS worse than being caught w/a dead girl.
To quote the hypocrite just now: "I am not gay, I am not gay, I am not gay, I am not gay" Joe Scarborough just said that when he was in congress 9-10 years ago he was told by a staffer that the rumor was that Craig was gay so the rumors are not a year old as Craig indicated in his presser. They have been around a long time.
Whom ever that lead anchor was did a pretty good job of pointing out that Sen. Craig cotinually sponsors anti-gay legislation. Good for him...it's the hypocrisy, stupid!
Craig's resignation and fall from grace is a foregone conclusion. Whether his departure will add any credibility or sense of morality to the GOP is also a foregone conclusion - it won't. The GOP is already sunk; it's all about the cryin' now.
Liberal AND Proud @ 12:
One minor amendment: Homosexuality is a sin against god - if you get caught...so...no forgiveness
Brian @ 15:
The level of overt hypocrisy within the Republican Party is astounding, isn't it? I believe this party is imploding before our very eyes. And, it couldn't happen a moment too soon. This country has been tanked by this fraudulent administration and does not have another year to spare with this gang of fools at it's helm.
I know most people plead guilty when they know they aren't guilty. LOL
Absolutely astounding, but not unexpected from "family values" republicans. The hypocisry. He probably was being honest about not being gay, however. He's bisexual. And as a gay man, I can assure you many people would be amazed how many married men are actually bisexual, speaking from experience.
This should be fun in the coming months.
How many closeted gays does a republican party make?
Yellow Elephant Safari @ 17:
The right's hiding behind a faux mantle of spirituality is OVER! The mantle has been ripped from their heads exposing their overt hypocrisy. Craig is just the tip of this disgusting GOP (Grand Old Perverts) iceberg.
soothsayer @ 2:
Did he thank the Academy, his producer, his director, his mother, his make up artist, the best boy, the key grip, his pet dog, the intern fetching coffee...?
Jenny'O @ 4:
I know! I've always wondered if they just showed up to work in their underwear, since we never see anything below the waist.
He didn't say he was going to resign. He did say that he would announce his decision next month as to if he would run again.
Roket @ 20:
I would venture to guess that a good percentage of GOPerverts will be outed in the coming months. Like rats deserting a sinking ship, they're all scurrying fast to hide from the truth. Denny Hastert will yet have his day in court - he may think he's running but he cannot hide from the recent Foley scandal and his years of enabling the behavior. Like many of his cohorts, he will see time behind bars, too.
GOP: Gay Old Party
Blue Buddha @ 22:
I'm guessing only the best boy :)
Since Jeffy Lube is outing his new book and himself, perhaps congress can now subpoena those visitor logs and investigage what he was doing, with whom, and how long during his nocturnal visits to the white house when no official press business was being conducted???
(wink wink)
Blue Buddha @ 22:
I'm sure he thanked the "best boy" personally.
Next, these guys should do the (R) Bob Allen skit.
On Craig’s Denial:
Too bad these idiots don’t just come out of the damn closet, then they wouldn’t have to sneak around in public bathrooms to find sex. They could just meet in Bar or wherever and then go home with someone to a nice apartment or house.
Their hypocrisy does this to them. They are hateful to what they are. And is it me, or are most of them Republicans?
Barney Franks is at least out of the closet and open, and everyone still loves the guy.
Yellow Elephant Safari @ 27:
Why on earth would anyone who has a shred of sanity plead guilty is he was not guilty in the first place? He was caught "red handed" and had no alternative BUT to plead guilty. Now he's trying to wiggle out of it - not so fast! Let's look back at his 1982 scandal, shall we?
Let's say you are arrested on the same charges that he was. Do you plead guilty to try to get it to go away? Remember you're a US senator and pleading guilty to a charge like this may make it hide, but it won't go away. His reasoning makes no sense.
That was a bad news piece.
The police report says it was Craig who moved his foot over, not the cop as they demonstrated. Also, the Senator did not plead guilty to soliciting sex as that reporter said. It was disorderly content or something.
I have a strong suspicion the Senator is a gay hypocrite, but the facts are enough. No need to get the facts wrong when the police report is right over on TPM.
pissed off patricia @ 33:
Sure it makes sense. Think about it. He pleads guilty...what happens.
He goes to jail. A jail filled with men. Horny men. The government buys his clothes and food...and he gets all the sex he wants. Better than bein a politician...at least he doesn't have to sneak around anymore.
Veritas, are you winking at me? :)
baby jesus wonders if the policeman gets extra pay for hazardous duty
Oh, this is just stupid.
Does anybody remember the clown that got into the mock-up of Saddam's spider hole? I thought that was lame, but this is a strong contender.
"Journalism".
[rolls eyes]
Hey, he was out of toilet paper in his stall and was just asking for a spare sheet, ala Elaine on Seinfeld. He stuck his unit in the glory hole just to show his neighbor that he truly needed ‘something’ to catch the ‘drip’.
Gort @ 39:
or someone..
He seemed so pompous during that speech. He tried to blame it on some newspaper or something saying they were dogging him so much that that's why he plead guilty. Lame, Larry.
Gort @ 39:
Gort - Klatu Verata Niktu .... translation (Gort, AI'm out of TP over here.)
Stick a fork in Craig. He is done.
What's up with the f@cking sandals and slacks? Bad shit, that.
Jesus, did you catch Mitt Romney's response to his old friend Craig. "I think it reminds us of Mark Foley and Bill Clinton...people who are elected to public office continue to disappoint, and they somehow think that if they vote the right way on issues of significance or they can speak a good game, that we'll just forgive and forget...And frankly, it's disgusting." I don't know what's worse, Romney turning on his friend so quickly or him bringing up Bill Clinton and trying to equate him to Foley. What a douche! This needs statement needs to be sent out into the blogosphere pronto!
baby jesus did hear that
pissed off patricia @ 41:
Maybe he had the newspaper in the stall and ran across a pic of Rudy in drag. Erm, I'd better stop. It's too close to dinner time.
Redleg @ 44:
I agree, you deserve to get hit-on in a stall wearing that get-up.
The Truth Hurts @ 43:
I don't think he was looking for a fork.
►Runs-With-Dog◄ @ 31:
Maybe the self-hating, closet Republicans actually get off on this shit.
Strawberry @ 45:
They've already found a way to drag Clinton into this???
Ok, who has 'less than 24 hours' in the pool?
"I'm NOT gay and I've never been gay!"
Well I'm bummed that he didn't tell us about his "wide stance". I didn't even know guys had different sized stances. Ya learn something every day, I guess.
Strawberry, you know the Clinton name would be mentioned no matter what. I think it's required when a repub talks about any subject.
Jon Stewart picked the wrong week to go on vacation.
Dr. Acula @ 52:
But I did stay in the men's room of a holiday inn express last nite! LOLOL!
time to find out if this video is as creepy as it sounds.
baby jesus has a small stance but it is omnipotent
Liberal AND Proud @ 55:
LMAO!
Sen. Craig: 'I Am Not Gay' - Aug 28 4:52 PM
Video linky no worky for me.
Dr Acula, when he said that I laughed out loud.
No-one said anything about a glory hole. If he stuck his unit into the glory hole that is a "whole" different story. There have been rumors about this man for decades. The pukes don't care, it is a party of hypocrites, the voters too.
Dr. Acula @ 58:
Ted Haggard is taking confessions.
"I make eye contact, and I smile a lot."
Funny, so do I ... but I don't have gay men trying to pick me up at the department store.
"People recognize me and say, 'Hi, Senator!' or, 'Do I know you?'"
So, you're known for sponsoring anti-gay legislation. Why on Earth would a gay man, having recognized you, think you would be interested and follow you around the store?
"I take a wide stance when I use the bathroom."
Yanno, the late night comics are gonna have a field day with that one ...
The play links didn't work for me either and after reading what others have said about it, maybe that's okay
Between Republicans and guys on craiglist searching for a ‘casual encounter’, I’m surprised that public restrooms aren’t awash in spewie. We should be slipping and sliding from the door to the urinal to the sink and back to the door.
Thank God it dries clear.
CD @ 56:
Yep it was creepy but no more than what I figured had happend.
1. Is there an endless supply of these self-hating Republicans?
2. John Stewart can't take a vacation without the administration or the Republican party taking the opportunity to a) fire someone, b) air dirty laundry, or c) screw up worse than usual in general.
Dr. Acula @ 52:
It goes to show the repig/xian mentality that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice that can be "cured" with a few sessions at jeebus camp.
And as time goes on, we see just how many of them are "pro choice" on this issue.
Harley @ 59:
Yeah he just cruises public men's rooms for sex with other guys he's not gay or anything.
lol
Nice to see CNN.com is keeping this on the front burner. It currently says Breaking News.
Anyone know if Craig actually had a flight that day?
If not why was he at an airport in a notorious gay meeting place?
gee...
i wonder who's the bad nasty boy now?....
Chuck U @ 71:
The rest stop on I90 was closed for maintenance.
The REAL story here is that the under cover agent should get a damn medal. Imagine this being your day: sitting on the crapper in a public restroom waiting for men to hit on you while they too are on the crapper...
There is NO WAY that man is paid enough...
Stupid on the senator's part to plead guilty. Depending on what he is charged with and if I were on the jury I would vote to acquit. The cop should have gotten more evidence. Like an actaul spoken proposition.
Harley @ 59:
Not that there's anything wrong with it. No, nothing at all. - Seinfeld circa 1995
CNN "news" w/ Wolf Blitzer .
Coming nxt Larry Craigs press conference.
Schumer interview - what do you think about the Craig incident.
"Coming up a pres conference from Larry Craig".
"Iran should be bombed, if it goes on with it's nuclear program , according to the French president.
"Larry Craig's press conference coming up."
Report on Craig incident . - Dana Bash stands out side of the ACTUAL restroom , from the scene of the crime . More great investigative journalism . Stalls have toilet paper, good news.
Another announcement, this time blitzer in his speculation room, ASSERTS he will tell all .
Begal & Rep. discuss Craig's problem .
After over 10 announcements of Press conference, it happens .
More speculation from Blitzer .
Blitzer now asserts, here's " some GOOD news" from bush's assertion that Iraq is getting better, blitzer inserts his opinion, as usual that bush is telling the truth and is correct by saying things are getting better .
blah blah blah blah.
It just seems that the more adament these guys are on what they say and how they vote the more likely they ARE what hate the most!
[...] MSP bathroom stalls between Republican Idaho Senator Larry Craig and an undercover cop until I saw this reenactment from a news crew in [...]
This morning on faux radio, brian kilmeade was actually defending Larry Craig (R) to a caller by saying, "what's the big deal, he has a wide stance". Jebus, reich-wingers have zero shame.
He isn't gay, he's never been gay but he does enjoy some gay activities.
His biggest goof in that speech of many goofs was admitting he never told his wife what had happened. The only reason he wouldn't do that is because he wanted to hide it from her. Why, if he was innocent?
I feel kind of sorry for the guy for only one reason. It appears he is gay and he's chosen to live his life in denial. He's cheated himself. If he's bisexual the same holds true.
veritas @ 28:
======================================
hey at least no one can accuse him of 'sleeping' in the lincoln bedroom.
MAN LAW
"One pair of feet per stall."
One word. KARMA.
Gotta love it.
nyhmr @ 75:
He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, disorferly conduct. The original charge was lewd behavior. More evidence?? You do NOT move your foot over into another man's stall and brush it up against his foot.....nothing spoken is needed. Most of the time, not a word is said. The cop just stopped him after he motioned for the cop to slide his "member" under the stall so he could take care of it.
Let's get real here.
myiq2xu,
I am fucking LMAO right now! hahahahahahaaa.....
Craig to the GOP, "I wish I could quit you."
You know....
It is creepy and sad how this guy chooses to live his life....
Why did the ROP choose this family heterosexual values deal anyway?...
There are so many of them that have family members who are gay...
Why do they deny their existence?
Really tragic....
Could there be a grosser place to have any sort of sex than a public restroom? That's the place where germs go to multiply. You gotta be all kinds of desperate.
pissed off patricia @ 90:
Truth be told I don't even like using a public bathroom to pee...
Damn....
Now I think I'm going to have a phobia about it....
pissed off patricia @ 90:
Anywhere within 50 yards of karl rove comes to mind....
I think they hate themselves for being gay. Maybe they really do believe being gay is a sin and in their attempt at denial they make such a big deal of pointing out all gays as sinful so hopefully no one will ever suspect their own hiden sexuality.
Tom A. @ 85:
Man, his member must be long. I certainly couldn't slide my member under the stall. Hahahaha.
Yellow Elephant Safari @ 92:
Or 500 yards from mann coulter.
pissed off patricia @ 93:
BINGO!
Give the lady a cupie doll.
Craig wouldn’t have to go to sexually active men’s rooms if it wasn’t for the homophobia that lives and breaths in the GOP.
Not necessarily. Sometimes the thrill is in the risky and/or illegal behavior. The "straight" lifestyle is completely accepted and yet straight guys ofter go to prostitutes.Hey you're all missing a golden opportunity here!
We need to get behind Senator Craig (I sure don't want him standing behind me!) and support his desire to DENY DENY DENY!
Yes, Larry, FIGHT LIKE HELL to stay in the closet, don't let these Republic thugs force you out...of Congress that is.
We need a "Defend Larry's Closet" fund, cause as LONG as he stays there, we can rub their fricking nose in just the latest example of the party of moral purity dives into the muck...(is this part 2000 or part 3000?)
The more this clown keeps screaming "I'm not gay" just makes it so much better when he
1.Admit's he's had "Gay Incidents" (due to Satan)
2. Begs for forgiveness and gets it from
a. God
b. His Wife
c. His Church
d. Ronald Reagan
Enters Rehab, finds Jesus (funny, how often he gets lost according to these guys), and announces he'll spend the coming years saving Gays from the Evil Perversion he's just escaped....
pissed off patricia @ 90:
Remember Congress is in Recess and schools likewise were on Summer Break, and
Pageboys had gone home for Session break, so Craig apparently was "desperate"
and took his needs to a public restroom in an Airport..
Jenny'O @ 4:
i actually didn't catch that at first. but makes you think what's beneath that desk.
i'm surprised he plead guilty to that. a good lawyer could have chewed holes through those "signals". even that guy from fl put up more of a fight and he actually offered money.
I will do almost anything to avoid a public restroom. I wouldn't eat dinner using a stranger's fork and I don't want to come into tactile contact with any place a stranger has done anything else, as is done in a public restroom. Women can be pigs in public restrooms and sometimes it's just disgusting.
nyhmr @ 75:
=========================
it is people like this senator who make the laws plenty fuzzy so that it's easier for the police to arrest in situations like this. so what the hell throw HIS book at him.
It's amusing that over at the CQ the commenters are mostly angry about his indiscretion. With several angry that he couldn't just keep it (his sexuality) hidden enough. It's always repress, repress, repress with these types. Jeesh.
WashStateBlue>
I think I once bought some boxer shorts from Larry's Closet.
Or was it Larry's Secret?
Maybe I'm wandering off the reservation here, but it seems so sad to me that someone would go into a restroom in hopes of finding a complete stranger who will have sex with him. That's not just gay, that's desperate. At least in my opinion.
mister mix @ 101:
Most states would allow expert testimony as to what those "signals" meant as well as evidence that Craig knew what they meant.
Modus operandi (M.O.) includes evidence to show lack of mistake and "common scheme or plan."
Gay or not, Craig is a nuisance in public bathrooms.
Keep your damn feet to yourself while I'm taking a dump, ya weirdo!
pissed off patricia @ 107:
I went to many a bar for the same reason.
Uh, I mean I heard some people go to bars for that. Straight bars.
Nevermind
myiq2xu @ 108:
And then there's always the Elaine Bennis defense... spare a square?
It seems at this moment in Repub history that they've reached their plateau and are now descending rapidly. With greedy mediocrities in the WH, a rush of closet homos or bisexuals being exposed, and a mismanaged war in Iraq where an aide to Gen. Save Us Petreaus is taking the fall for the weapons debacle and according to the Washington Post a major his wife and his sister-in-law are accused of taking $9.2 million dollars in bribes, among others. Yeah buddy! These Repubs even have caused the Family Research Council wahoos to tremble. And now another anti gay rights prostitute is exposed as the very type of promiscuous homo he railed against.
Maybe he's only a "recreational homo" like a recreational pot head. Only does it on the weekends, and he can quit anytime. Really.
A Richard Head (92), remember he also claims to have a " extra wide stance". He must be a very manly sort of man. ;)
Sorry to disagree with you John on the homophobia stance. Some men love the random encounter/bathroom stuff.
Remember the highway rest stops?
pissed off patricia @ 107:
If you are a high profile individual, the anonymity of restroom sex would be what you would look for (without undercover cops, of course). Then again, there are enough people, gay, straight or bisexual, who do "need" alot of sex with many partners.....but that's a psychological problem I won't get into.
It may be sad to some, but to some it's a necessity, and they actually enjoy it to boot. Personally, I agree, it is sad. But I'm not sexually repressed.
I'm sure there was a large black man outside that made him do this.
"Craig wouldn’t have to go to sexually active men’s rooms if it wasn’t for the homophobia that lives and breaths in the GOP."
Yep - hoisted by his own petard ~
*
But myiq2xu, you didn't go into the bar hoping to have sex with a stranger right there in the bar. Or did you? ;)
What happens when an extremely gay conservative, longing for the touch of another man, is scared for his life of being caught?
Turn to journalism as a women.
Not sure Craig could get away with that move at his age.
Carla @ 113:
“If you’ve ever had another man’s testicles slapping against your chin, you’re probably not fully committed to the heterosexual lifestyle.” – J.C. Christian, Patriot.
pissed off patricia @ 119:
No, of course not.
Outside in the parking lot maybe.
I'm old fashioned. I remember when the well-known could manage to keep their personal lives out mainstream media. That is, unless they needed their press agents to leak something "bad" to heighten their public presence a bit for a film premier.
Attacks about someone's appearance were never made publicly, except in comedy (like Phyllis Diller bits about "Fang," her husband or celebrity roasts). It was never done to end a person's career except in rare cases like the Fatty Arbuckle murder rap.
I take no pleasure in the revelations of Craig's hypocrisy if that's what it is. This kind of story validates no one's political views save those who believe that all who serve in government are craven and love to pounce on the politically weak.
“If you’ve ever had another man’s testicles slapping against your chin, you’re probably not fully committed to the heterosexual lifestyle.” – J.C. Christian, Patriot
That's hilarious! I'll have to remember that one :-)
There's a new thread up about this subject. It's all about Craig's speech.
"as a gay man, I can assure you many people would be amazed how many married men are actually bisexual, speaking from experience.
Tom A."
I agree Tom. Bisexuality is a very complicated issue though, and Kinsey felt that sexual orientation is a continuum of graduations from exclusively heterosexual to exclusively homosexual -- with most of us falling somewhere in between. I for one have always felt that those who IDENTIFY as being bi, are almost always PREDOMINANTLY gay, not hetero, probably because they feel that identifying themselves as "bi but predominantly gay" is just as stigmatizing as being gay. Anyone disagree?
Richard Ray Harris @ 123:
I remember, too, when one's moral beliefs, spiritual beliefs, patriotism, etc.... weren't turned into a Christian Crusade to convince voters that the devil himself runs any one political party.
So once the "holier than thou" hell-raising began, the field changed.
If you spew hatred for a supposed moral cause, you better be as pristine as possible. Hmmm, who was it that said "let he who is without sin case the first stone"? Simple premise, but so grand in it's implications.
And it's a command few self-avowed "christians" these days adhere to. Because if they did, they'd have to focus on the real secular issues......instead, here we are in this mess today, while the country and the rest of the world slowly slides towards chaos.
Here's something I honestly don't understand:
One cannot find any serious analysis of the modern Republican Party that does not in short time drift into comparisons with the Nazis: there is the xenophobia, the gangsterism, the authoritarianism, the fondness for secret police, the religious nationalism, the rage and the anger, the militarization of culture, the fetishization of power and on and on and on.
And while obviously there are limits to the usefulness of such a comparison, homosexuality, or what was referred to as the "depravity" of Hitler and his head officers, is one area of similarity that seems to be entirely ignored. And it seems to be a frequent theme with a political and interpersonal culture that is also characterized by secretiveness, deception, repression, and clubby exclusiveness.
Whether you're talking about the severe impersonality of Condi Rice or the campy theatrics of Karl Rove or yet another Party operative busted for cruising for men or tex-flirting with boys, this administration is really, thoroughly characterized of a homosexual sensibility.
I honestly don't understand why it hasn't been given greater attention or study. I'm not even sure what to make of it - or how important or unimportant it even is - but to anybody who has closely tracked the ascendancy of this Party, the Craig story, like so many others, seems more inevitable than surprising.
Tom A. @ 127:
To switch religions on you and paraphrase the Buddhist view: "Karma's a bitch."
pissed off patricia @ 33:
In all fairness, this work for Micheal Jackson.
[...] Let's just say Craig is in political trouble in one of America's reddest of red states, Idaho. Crooks and Liars
Screw Capt. Quarters, I want him in the GOP.
....And I think you all know why. = )
It depended on how long his layover was. As his gayness rolls separately, for him to become one with his gayness requires more time after the tap. This interruption did not allow him to blossom in the stall. Therefore, not gay.
He's not gay, he was campaigning for the gay constituent. Giving a leg up for the gay community.
paranoia @ 134:
In England, "getting your leg over" is a euphemism for sexual, uh, congress.
"You know how I know that you are gay? You keep letting me touch your penis."
It should be important to C&Lers that the report, as pointed out by Howard at 33 above, is not factually accurate. According to the arrest report, the arresting officer (or local prosecutor) charged Craig with Interference with Privacy and Disorderly Conduct. There are little facts as to how the Court accepted the good senator's guilty plea, (and whether a prosecuting attorney was involved) suffice it to say that the Court dismissed the I w/ P charge and accepted his plea to Disorderly. Each charge contains a mental component requiring that the perp, here SENATOR CRAIG, have the requisite mental intent to commit the charged crime. The Court cannot accept the perp's plea unless the perp properly articulates the elements of the offense; allocute. Further, the Court cannot accept a guilty plea unless the plea is knowing, voluntary, and intelligent. Most likely, Craig both verbally informed the Court that he knew what he was doing and doing it voluntarily and intelligently AS WELL AS signing a document memorializing the same. Given the requisite elements from Minnesota code below, Craig was a FOOL to plead guilty and most likely was (in what is probably the only true statement he provided) for the purpose of making this all go away very quietly. Finally, whatever avenue his attorney is exploring for him for withdrawing his guilty plea or some form of post conviction relief/review, the battle will be long. Frankly, I'm more interested to see what happens procedurally during the appellate process almost more than watching another hypocritical, bigoted, and closeted hate spewing member of our one party system go down in flames and taking his family and friends with him. Sad, just sad.
The only applicable portion of I w/ P that appears to apply is: (c) A person is guilty of a gross misdemeanor who: (1) surreptitiously gazes, stares, or peeps in the window or other aperture of a sleeping room in a hotel, as defined in section 327.70, subdivision 3, a tanning booth, or other place where a reasonable person would have an expectation of privacy and has exposed or is likely to expose their intimate parts, as defined in section 609.341, subdivision 5, or the clothing covering the immediate area of the intimate parts; and
(2) does so with intent to intrude upon or interfere with the privacy of the occupant.
As in every other state in the nation, one of the factual sceneriors substantiating disorderly is: Whoever does any of the following in a public or private place, including on a school bus, knowing, or having reasonable grounds to know that it will, or will tend to, alarm, anger or disturb others or provoke an assault or breach of the peace, is guilty of disorderly conduct, which is a misdemeanor: (3) Engages in offensive, obscene, abusive, boisterous, or noisy conduct or in offensive, obscene, or abusive language tending reasonably to arouse alarm, anger, or resentment in others.
Jason @ 137:
Oooooh, sounds like fun!
First this policeman is being used as an agent provocateur - and whatever you think of what went on it is still provocation by the police.
Second, the guy deserves all he gets as he is a hypocrite
Third, the real answer is to have proper gay law reform so that there is no need for bathroom sex - the more you repress something the more you go to seedy places to find like-minded people.
Fourth, what is wrong with you people? What with Iraq, lack of comprehensive healthcare, lack of holidays - you go mad about some slight thing in an airport bathroom. Yes it would be in the news here in the UK cos he's a nutty reichwinger but it would be tomorrow's fish and chip paper.
You know what i think the UK has become superior - we are 80% of the way there to equality - there are stringent laws against bathroom sex but there is some sort of balance with society being way more tolerant. Most folk don't give a damn now about whether someone's gay or not - it's just `whatever - now where did i put that recipe`. You can be open in the workplace and people can be reprimanded for making someone's life hell if they're gay.
Contrast that with USA - the last time i went there i found it creepy - iris checks and fingerprinting just to transit to Mexico. You are allowing a rightwing junta to change the tone of society into some narrow squalid gaudy fearmongering self-fearing oligarchy.
And if Brown doesn't assert soon the will of the British people to get out of the quagmire or tell you lot to give the Iraqi people their oil he'll have hell to pay.
Senator Craig taught me something I never know or even would have known about how men have a secret way of letting one another know they want sex. He is a pro and this really isn't his first time. He's been lucky for over 25 years as no one knew even his fellow GOP did a great job at keeping this secret. No wonder Fingers Foley was safe he had alot of company. Now that excuse of not being gay is weak as you don't have to be gay to have sex with a man. I noticed he and his wife never had kids together their her children. After his 1982 involvement with kids he married a woman with kids to cover up who he really was.
I look forward to more GOP perverts to come out of the closet as I'm sure that's why Dennis Hastert is getting out as fast as he can.
Christ - at 137 - you're a democrat! You would be seen as a wingnut here! Being gay is not a perversion. Why is the US so sex-obsessed - because it's so repressed and because it's easier to be obsessed with `morality` than actual issues and why the system is like it is.

Now to complete that scene they should have real cops come in a bust both of those reporters for soliciting sex.
Not to mention the sexual harassment charges that will come out of it.
Someone at 138 needs a hug, and a blow.
If it weren't for the wingnut-Christio-fascist GOP base, he could just come out of the closet and live his life, happily, as a gay man, instead of looking for washroom sex. As a well-adjusted gay man, I have NEVER felt a need to solicit men for washroom sex. There are plenty of nice men to meet in conventional ways (just like heterosexuals do.)
too many friends not enough lovers!
140 where are you - i'm coming over!
Seriously, when you think of iraq it is pretty petty.
I don't know who should be more embarrassed, pervy tea-room cruiser Craig or the anchorman wearing sandals with a suit.
FOR SHAME!!!
136,
I do not know what you mean by provocation. Do you mean entrapment by the police? According to the report, Craig started all the nefarious non-verbal communication via foot and toe tapping. Question, is it a betrayal of the guilty mind to sit down on a toilet, after observing another man through the crack in the door, and NOT pull your pants down in order to pinch a loaf? I mean, if you are sitting on the crapper without the intent to crap you must be sitting there for another reason.
@ 137 Jackie
Me too. As a gay man, I never knew those "tricks" to meet men in washrooms. Why? I've never looked for sex in a washroom, and I'd be shocked to be solicited that way.
It's not all about sex, and this idea of homosexual perversion is ludicrous. I live a "normal" life. As normal as yours (most likely) just not with a woman.
PS You don't have to be gay to have sex with a man. Many men, maybe most, have dabbled at some point, even if only as adolescents. Don't believe me, ask your friends when they've had a lot to drink. Real men aren't afraid to admit thier curiosity (or that they acted on it). I know, cuz many straight men have told me, and done so openly. Some were even willing to drop their drawers to prove it.
