What Iranian attacks on our troops? To my knowledge no American soldier has been attacked by an Iranian in Iraq.
CNN's Barbara Starr is fond of using the term Iranian backed attacks. That implies that Iran had a role in the decision making about who and where to attack.
Selling arms to a group of combatants doesn't necessarily mean they are backing specific attacks. If that was so then every time one country attacks another with arms sold to them by America, that would be an American backed attack.
These kind of ambiguous statements can lead to misunderstandings leading to yet another ill-advised war.
Lieberman always sounds like he's about to cry. He's a whiner. [deleted. Let's keep race and religion out of it, please.]
That said, I hope this calms down those frothing at the mouth regarding Petraeus. One needn't engage in smears and character assassination of Petraeus to oppose the war effectively. In fact, I'd say that such tactics have the opposite effect.

I haven't read the report, have you? I'm referring to Petraeus's testimony being honest and the unjustified tarring and feathering from Move On. Move On is not interested in being effective anymore. They just want your money, so the more shrill they can be in preaching to the choir, the more appealing will be their appeals. Maybe it's just the state of politics today, but it seems that it's all about fundraising and not about political change.

For those of you whom believe there are not enough troops ... there are !! The A/F and navy have been summoned and are on notice to attack on Bush's say-so.
Currently a US Naval force -- 2 aircraft carrier groups and 1/2 of America's warships are sitting in the Persian Gulf. They've been there for several months. Several reports concur that there is a 3-day plan for massive air strikes against 1200 targets! The plan will essentially take out Iran's entire military, their infrastructure, along with the nuclear plants, etc...
After spending months El Baradei's recent progress with Iran could be ruined. Iran finally agreed to inspections, but Cheney and Bush are discounting it as a ploy to buy time. Well so what it is not like Iran would or even could build a nuclear bomb within the next five years. What is their rush?
Patience and diplomacy are not Cheney's nor Bush's strong points. They are impatient and plan to strike Iran. Unless public PRESSURE is put on the WH and our policy makers Iran will be attacked.
If that plays out there will be massive deaths -- civilian and US military -- in Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran is not Iraq. They have a military force and they have weapons -- mostly outdated, but Iran will strike back. Their missiles cannot reach the US, but they can reach Iraq, Afghanistan, and Israel. Any of the US military bases within their proximity in the region very well could become targets including the Green Zone.
Furthermore Hezbollah may interpret it as an attack on all Shiites and start shooting missiles into northern Israel. Whereupon Israel would retaliate. Pakistan is already unstable so any strike on Iran could totally destabilize it and worse they have nuclear weapons. Not to mention the Strait of Hormuz -- the corridor for moving 20% of the world's oil supply -- would be blocked off raising the price of oil to unbelievable prices which in return would destabilize the entire world economy.
Despite the consequences neither Bush nor Cheney will be satisfied until they bomb Iran back to the stone age. And Lie-berman is one of the many cheerleaders cheering this along. It is disgusting and shameful.
