the United States Constitution is the ultimate benchmark of America. as citizens we pledge an oath to abide by and uphold this holy grail of democracy as the founding fathers set it up for us. and as citizens we are obligated to Honor and Protect our Constitution against the tyranny of all oppressors.

at this time in our history we find that our own commander-in-chief, bush, and his entire administration is that TYRANNY and in his own words part of the axis of evil terrorists. we must remove this cancer and the time is now.

IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY

bush plans to stay and you can bet unfortunately he will enter or try to enter iran and start a war. we can only hope that those nuclear missiles that were mishandled this last week, DO NOT end up in iran.

these bastards, bush and cheney must be removed from office now.

we CAN NOT WAIT for the 2008 elections, he will devastate the entire world.

btw, bush wants you to shop early and often, it supports the troops.

It is more than just displays. I am pretty sure some retailer, Target I think, had an ad on the other night with Christmas music in the background. Nordstroms used to refuse to decorate until the day after Thanksgiving, I think they have now joined the "before Halloween" crowd of merchandisers.

What makes you think the decider is going to let any of us have an election… especially one where Hillary might win or any Dem for that matter?

While the daily outrage is focused on the Blackwater massacre in Iraq, there is the real potential for Blackwater trouble at home. No doubt Bush and Cheney created their merc army to avoid US law and the uniform code of military justice in their activities overseas.

What concerns me just as much, if not more so, is we keep hearing about Blackwater expanding its headquarters here. I can not imagine a more dangerous situation than to have a mercenary army here in the US... with sworn allegiance only to a pay check.

Bush deployed them after Katrina in NOLA and this was a test no doubt about getting around Posse Commitatus and other laws regarding using Federal troops for law enforcement duties. Call me a tin foil hat if you will, but the possibilities for a coup in this country just went up astronomically.

Blackwater facing growing protest over new base

An article in Raw Story reveals Blackwater USA is facing growing resistance to a proposed 842-acre base in Potrero California which would include 15 firing ranges for automatic and semi-automatic weapons and small caliber guns, emergency vehicle operator's course the length of ten football fields, bunkhouses, commando-style training facilities, ship simulators and law enforcement training towers with rock climbing walls and platforms. Potrero, a small town of 850 located south east of San Diego is surrounded by Cleveland National Forest and is environmentally sensitive. Internal documents acquired by Raw Story reveal Blackwater indicated the bases' effect on the local eagle population as a "potential fatal flaw." Potrero property owner Dania Raum said the project site is a hidden valley filled with wetlands and various varieties of raptor birds. Golden eagles nest just 3,500 feet north of the site.

Blackwater Opens New Base In Illinois

ABC Local News, Illinois]"The world's most controversial security service is now open for business in Illinois. But is Blackwater, Inc. looking to make Illinois an outpost for what has been called the world's largest private army.

This is the same Blackwater that has become the icon for private security services in Iraq. According to critics, Blackwater is nothing more than a corporate warlord, based in North Carolina, with a payroll of hired gunslingers-- hundreds of them now protecting diplomats and contractors in Iraq. Blackwater executives say they and their mission near a rural town south of Rockford are greatly misunderstood-- that to know them is to like them-- and that they want their new neighbors in Illinois to know them.

On the ground in nine nations around the world, Blackwater is what one company executive calls the most "notorious" in the fast-growing business of private security. For 10 years the firm has been headquartered on almost 7,000 acres in North Carolina. More than 100,000 people have been trained there, the majority of them active duty US Marines, sailors and soldiers. That makes it the largest private military training base in the world.

why would he [Romney] feel the need to, talk about a mis-leading headline.

this had nothing to do with Warren Jeffs being; "from the US", "a polygamist", or "a [self proclaimed] leader".

from article:

"He [Warren Jeffs] went into hiding after being charged in Arizona with being an accomplice to incest and sexual misconduct for allegedly arranging marriages between minors and older men.

After deliberating for 16 hours, the jury in St George found Mr Jeffs had orchestrated the marriage of the girl to her 19-year-old cousin and encouraged her to have sex by telling her she would go to hell if she did not."

I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not. Since the 2000 Florida debacle and the Supreme Court anointing of Bush, a re-energized progressive movement has blossomed to challenge the emerging authoritarian hold on America. But sometimes I fear that even the progressive movement underestimates the madness behind the conservative thirst for power. Their politics is not usual. We are not engaged in a battle over ideas. We are engaged in a fight that will determine whether the experiment in Democracy continues or ends.

This is really it in a nutshell. We do not take these people seriously. These are bad people folks. Evil and as unAmerican as they come. And it isn't hyperbole to say so. In the end we will have no one to blame but ourselves. We know what they are and yet we let them persist.

We all know that they are evil and bad. But, there is not really much anyone can do short of taking up arms against them. That certainly would be a foolish act, since they have bigger weapons. I'm sure most people wish they would just go away. I know I do.

My suggestion would be to volunteer for a Progressive, or Liberal, or Democratic cause and donate time or money... they need both. That way you can make a difference where it counts.

As far as us "blogging: folks, we also serve a purpose. To get the Truth out. Thanks.

Because he is an evil neocon?

Exactly, Navy Swan. Here's a little more reading about our Neo-Con monsters and undue Straussian influence.

America's Coming Dictatorship
The theory and practice of oligarchical "conservatism"

"Odd as this may sound, we live in a world increasingly shaped by Leo Strauss, a controversial philosopher who died in 1973. Although generally unknown to the wider population, Strauss has been one of the two or three most important intellectual influences on the conservative worldview now ascendant in George W. Bush's Washington. Eager to get the lowdown on White House thinking, editors at the New York Times and Le Monde have had journalists pore over Strauss's work and trace his disciples' affiliations. The New Yorker has even found a contingent of Straussians doing intelligence work for the Pentagon."

This sudden interest was due to the unusual number of Straussians who had found their way into close proximity to the centers of power in Washington – an extraordinary number of Strauss's students (or students of his leading followers) were employed in and around the Bush administration, particularly at key points in the national security bureaucracy, as William Pfaff pointed out, including then- "Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz; Abram Shulsky of the Pentagon's Office of Special Plans, Richard Perle of the Pentagon advisory board, Elliott Abrams of the National Security Council, and the writers Robert Kagan and William Kristol." I hope everyone is watching "The War" by Ken Burns.

I haven't had time to watch it, but my parents' reaction was rather amusing. Keeping in mind that my dad fought in WWII, so it's rather relevant to them.

Review was "It's got some really great footage in it, but we can't stay awake." Which is sort of what I've come to expect from Ken Burns--interesting material presented in a monotone with lullaby-like music. It sorta worked in The Civil War, but everything since then has seemed about four times longer than it should have, and five or six times more boring. That could well just be me, though.

On the Christmas in September thing, at least where I am they haven't yet rolled out the Christmas displays. Of course, the Halloween stuff was up in force two or three weeks ago. Seriously--who the HELL is buying Halloween candy a month and a half before Halloween? Are there people sitting around in September thinking "Man, I'd better go get me some paper skeletons and fake cobwebs before they sell out."? If so, what is wrong with them?

To be honest, every time I walk into a store and see "seasonal" stuff on display a good two months before the season in question, I develop a desire to burn the store down, and since that would get me arrested, at least to not buy anything there.

I dislike shopping at big box stores enough as it is. I suppose statistics are on their side, but it sure as heck makes me less likely to buy anything there.

(Actually, I do all my "seasonal" goods shopping AFTER the holiday--why pay full price for, say, egg coloring kits when you can get them at 80% off and just drop them in the closet for a year?)

Burma cyber-dissidents crack censorship
By Stephanie Holmes
BBC News

Burma's bloggers are using the internet to beat censorship, and tell the world what is happening under the military junta's veil of secrecy.
...
The use of the internet as a political tool is one of the most marked differences between the latest protests and the 1988 uprising, which was brutally repressed.

Thanks in part to bloggers, this time the outside world is acutely aware of what is happening on the streets of Rangoon, Mandalay and Pakokku and is hungry for more information.

Burmese-born blogger Ko Htike, based in London, has transformed his once-literary blog into a virtual news agency and watched page views rise almost tenfold.

He publishes pictures, video and information sent to him by a network of underground contacts within the country.

"I have about 10 people inside, in different locations. They send me their material from internet cafes, via free hosting pages or sometimes by e-mail," he told the BBC News website.

"All my people are among the Buddhists, they are walking along with the march and as soon as they get any images or news they pop into internet cafes and send it to me," he said.

Ko Htike is one of a number of Burmese online activists, almost all based beyond the country's borders.

Reporters without Borders describe how a guide for cyber-dissidents provided to young Burmese was seized upon, copied and feverishly disseminated among a growing group of the young, politically active and computer-literate.

Bloggers are teaching others to use foreign-hosted proxy sites - such as your.freedom.net and glite.sayni.net - to view blocked sites and tip-toe virtually unseen through cyberspace, swapping tricks and links on their pages.

May I correct you?

The former German government under Social Democratic chancellor Gerhard Schröder has decided to phase out all nuclear power plants by 2020.

The new so called "big coalition" under now Christian Democratic chancellor Angela Merkel is likely to kill this legislation and to submit to the nuclear power lobby´s pressure to keep the nuclear power plants running although some of them are literally crumbling and causing a chain of serious security risks lately.

So there´s in fact no reason to be as euphorically as you appear.

Paul's picture

Posner is still a crackpot, even if his crackpot ideas are shared by numerous other conservatives. The only way the Republicans/conservatives can "win" any election these days is by stealing them, using all available means. They may achieve power for a while, but they are vastly outnumbered. And they are, if they had the eyes to see it, vastly outnumbered by people who are smarter than they fancy themselves to be. It isn't just a matter of being outnumbered by the "great unwashed masses".

In their hubris and self-righteous lust for control, they forget something important: It always happens that whenever self-appointed elite-types begin to get what they want, whenever things start turning out just the way they want it, it makes life so bad and intolerable for everybody else, that the pendulum tends to swing the other way. Mostly in an extreme swing. They cannot stop that from happening, because they are ever unable to place limits on their own desires. And, history repeats itself. How many aristocratic heads got lopped off in the French Revolution? The Romanian despot Ceacescue and wife were indignantly berating the firing squad that executed them for having no authority to judge them - right up to the point where the triggers were pulled. A murderous demagogue like Pol Pot arises, and before self-destructing, murders all the "elites", intellectuals and so-on in an act of insane cannibalism that nobody seems able to stop. Or, the world arises against a self-appointed elite like Hitler, who can be stopped by no other means. The seeds of their own destruction are inherent in their basis premises and in the things that they value. As bright as they deem themselves to be, they never figure it out.

Posner and his ilk are fools, completely so, because all he and otherslike him have done is use their own native intelligence to bullshit themselves. And the only thing that has done is make them stupid and blind.

"Posner and his ilk are fools, completely so, because all he and otherslike him have done is use their own native intelligence to bullshit themselves. And the only thing that has done is make them stupid and blind."

Think again! May I link you to this Arthur Silber essay? Arthur nails it and will provide you with a deeper insight.

Quote:
In brief: the major actors in the Bush administration are achieving exactly what they want. They may well be about to launch the start of World War III, which will further enrich their corporate friends by many additional billions of dollars. As the favored few continue to amass vast wealth, the government continues to consolidate political power to an extent that makes a future dictatorship fully realizable. They are well on the road to the achievement of wealth and power on a scale rarely if ever equalled in the history of civilization.

To describe such an achievement as the result of "Monumental Stupidity" is, well, stupid. The problem is one of analysis and method, and it is very widespread. Most major commentators (and almost all bloggers) fall into the same error. The aims I have noted -- the amassing of wealth and power, and the drive to regional (and worldwide) hegemony -- are nothing remotely akin to a conspiracy, unless you view aims stated openly and repeatedly, and pursued over a period of decades in front of the entire world, as a "conspiracy."
...
It would hardly do for our national leaders to announce the truth:

We have military power of a kind that allows us to do whatever we want, anywhere in the world. We intend to establish worldwide hegemony, baby. And while we're doing that, we and some of our best friends are going to get filthy, stinking rich. Guess what: most of the governing class is in on the scheme -- and there isn't a damned thing you can do about it.

No, that wouldn't do at all. So our leaders talk of "national interests," which can mean anything imaginable that serves the needs of the moment, and of spreading "democracy." To credit such claims requires as astounding degree of ignorance.

frankly im dissapointed in ken burns series the war , its not historicaly correct, he leaves out to much that happened , such as after pearl harbor the marine raiders under carlson raided makin island ,a japanese island used as a listening post by japan, then before guadal canal was invaded the us navy fought the battle of the coral sea, where we fought a sea battle that was basicaly a small defeat for the us , we lost a carrier and a few tin cans , while the japs lost one converted carrier of no importence while our carrier the lexington was a firstline carrier, allso the yorktown was nearly sunk, thenyou have the doolittle raid on japan by b 24s flown from a carrier that did little dammage and was only used as a morale booster for the folks at home , and the invashion of guadal canal was bastardised by not showing that the attack was a two pronged attack where thier were two objectives the first was the ajoining small island of tulagi and the second more importent island was guadalcanal, the marines at first met little resistence takeing the canal but tulagi was garrisoned by japanese marines and the battles were fierce with many marines killed, these things being left out shows burns knows jack shit about ww2

Israel seeks exemption from atomic rules

VIENNA, Austria - Israel is looking to a U.S.-India nuclear deal to expand its own ties to suppliers, quietly lobbying for an exemption to non-proliferation rules so it can legally import atomic material, according to documents made available Tuesday to The Associated Press.

The move is sure to raise concerns among Arab nations already considering their neighbor the region's atomic arms threat. Israel has never publicly acknowledged having nuclear weapons but is generally considered to possess them.

this is basically about carlsons raiders on guadalcanal , what i was refering to was the raid on makin island , a small island the japs had that was used as a radio listening station and it had nothing to do with the canal, it was done by useing two large submarines as troop ships , the raiders were sent ashore in rubber rafts and attacked the station destroying it , then they evacuated by rafts back to the subs , some were killed dureing the fighting and thier were some marines left behind after the evacuation, that were captured when the japs regarrisoned makin, they were tortured and beheaded, so its apples and oranges makin was not mentioned, allso carlson was a brilliant leader and he learned his gurellia skills from being with mao the chinese communist leader , and later he was shit canned by the marines after jelouse marine officers denounced him as being a communist!

Oh well....keep up all this fantastic "blogging" folks. That'll teach'em!

We all know that they are evil and bad. But, there is not really much anyone can do short of taking up arms against them. That certainly would be a foolish act, since they have bigger weapons. I'm sure most people wish they would just go away. I know I do.

Yeah you are probably correct. The founding fathers of this country were idiots. Sooo foolish. I mean -- taking on the most powerful nation and military that the world had ever seen -- what the hell were they thinking?? We would have been so much better off if they had just donated money to liberal causes and hoped/wished/prayed/begged for King George to go away. Jefferson was a crank. I mean after all he did say: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." He obviously didn't know what he was talking about. So foolish! All it would have taken was a little bloggin and money thrown around.

America is a nation of cowards.
