A publisher I know once told me that most really wealthy and powerful people are smart enough to know that it pays vast dividends beyond the cost of salaries to treat their employees well, especially in the age of tell-all books. And then, there are those like the Bushes....

ga_otj_james_war_protest.jpg SF Gate:

Pool boys are supposed to conduct torrid affairs with lonely pool owners. James Razsa has passionate feelings about his client, but not the kind likely to turn romantic.

Razsa cleans former President George H.W. Bush's pool, in Kennebunkport, Maine.

An enduring American figure, the pool boy has long stood for one lowly half of the nation's class gulf. When the pool owner happens to have been the most powerful man on the planet, and the pool boy happens to be one of the planet's great despisers of power, the metaphor explodes into 1,000 points of light.

"If every American had to pool-boy for these people for a day, you'd have a revolution on your hands," is how he sees things. Read on...

Regarding his brother working for Exxon for $7 per hour and not able to support his family on that wage... hell, regarding the fact that most Americans don't have a living wage... Naomi Klein worked with others on a fabulous documentary called The Corporation. Check it out in DVD. I highly recommend it.

These big monied corporations and their overpaid and undertalented CEOs need to be paying for the workers who make them all that money! And that needs to start happening right NOW!

How would you respond to the Bush Family?

"What do you say? 'Thanks for School of the Americas, and Iran-Contra, and NAFTA, and shipping all those jobs overseas, and arming Saddam, and funding the Taliban?' What do you say -- 'You're a jerk?' There's nothing that can be put into a sentence that would capture the lives these people have taken, and the way of life that's been taken."

There was a great bit written about her by Al Franken. I believe it was in Lies. She seems to think she is some kind of royalty, nee "entitled."

It's mind-blowing that these unexceptional fuckwits actually had a "full sprectrum dominance" plan, for which there is no precedence.

If Alexander, the Romans, and the British couldn't do it, why did they think they could?

There was never a chance in hell that these types could ever impose themselves on the Vietnamese, the Iraqis, or the Iranians.

The Americans? Well....

Also probably explains why, while north of York, Maine two weeks ago, I was subjected to a 2 hour "friendship fest" with a overly talkative Lockheed employee at a local restaurant. And why, upon leaving, was yanked by the local cops for "a roadside checkpoint drug test". And why he knew my nickname, NOT the name on my license when departing his stilted company.

Collusive GOP Pricks never give up.
Remember that this is where tardboy got one of his infamous DUIs.

I had no idea the Bushes had a place - uh, scratch that - a 100 year old mansion and compound in that part of Maine until afterwards... My knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time is stellar...

You're missing the point, which is, other than the 82 degree pool incident, the article is completely void of interesting content. But then, maybe you find the National Enquirer type drivel interesting.

For example, shy didn't the author ask the folks at the lemonade stand why exactly they resented GHWB and his family? Jealousy? Aloofness? Certainly they must have interesting stories from over the decades and generations.

Personally I find the inter-Bush relationships fascinatining, and I want dirt, lots of dirt, along with analysis. Topics such as, given that 41 was the former head of the CIA and went to war with Saddam, presumably he knew Saddam better than just about anyone in the world, yet it seems 43 never utilized that rich treasure of expertise. Why not?

Another topic: Poppy treated his political operatives (such as Lee Atwater) like shit and kept them far, far from policy decisions. GWB, on the otherhand, let's his political guy Karl Rove run the government. What's the deal with that??

And what would Poppy have to say about letting a dangerous dingbat like Cheney start failed war after failed war?

If the pool boy managed to overhear those sorts of conversations, now that would make for an interesting article.

Here's the first (much more is there) paragraph of the NY Times 1941 .

"Existence of a 3 million fund established by Fritz Thyssen, German Industrialist and original backer of Adolf Hitler, was disclosed today " the bank, Union Banking . Prescott Bush was a partner there .
Keep in mind these same Nazis that invested at Union Banking , were also promoting Eugenics .

Cool guy. Obviously bright, articulate, and interesting. But, really, the Bush's are hardly even a shadow in the background in the story. They're apparently wise enough to let the pool boy do his thing without harrassment. The most horrifying thing about the story was the image now wedged in the back of my brain of Barbara Bush approaching the pool in a b-b-b-b-bathing suit!

Loved hearing about the Walker III's though. Maybe there's some hope for the line after all.

True. The man is clearly very intelligent, thoughtful, and articulate, and his assessment of the huge gap between rich and poor is spot on. But there's nothing of substance about interaction between the employers and employees, except that they're completely detached from each other (which we already knew).

Sorry to be dense, but, "I stare at the biggest middle finger in the world all day?" What the hell does that mean? He's not talking about the Bushes, because he's only seen them fleetingly. Is a pool a big middle finger?
