10 more in vain!
Right now the news is announcing that the USA killed 60 insurgents in Iraq. Something similar is announced every few days. But they never once explain how they determined that each and every one of the 60 was an 'enemy' during their post-mortem. It seems very odd that the media takes the military's word characterizating these body counts
Don't look so sad George, the military knows where to get more cannon fodder.
did they identify the "phony" vs. "real" soldiers, as per Rush?
Rush will determine on his Monday show how many were 'phoney'.

Military recruiters are targeting the nation's high schools and junior highs, seeking an early harvest of soldiers-to-be.
Who's next?
Our soldiers are too good to be wasted in Iraq.
On a lighter note I saw this headling on Yahoo.com: BBC to premiere newscast created for American viewers.
it's probably going to consist of nothing but Britney and O.J. 24 hrs. a day.
It's really depressing what this country has become. When I was a kid I used to be proud of the U.S. and all we did, but that was before I began to learn the truth of what we do in the world. Like it or not, the Iraq war is an illegal war; every person killed there, every building destroyed, every bit of infrastructure we damage is a war crime. The depleted uranium, the destroyed water system, the bombed hospitals, businesses and homes are all compliments of the American people.
USA!! USA!!
Im so lonely.
GonzoD @ 1:
That is the Pentagon "count". The way things have been under this administration for the last few years, who knows what 10 soldiers is actually equivalent to.
jimt @ 9:
it's depressing and very disturbing, but hey cheer up, the rest of the planet already knows this:)
Kay @ 11:
Very sad, but true.
jimt @ 9:
Not all of the American people!
GonzoD @ 14:
Yes, ALL of the American people. Because we haven't stopped it. It's not like people in America, even on the left, have been acting like we are a nation in an illegal war or our constitution is under attack. You can't tell it from walking down the street, you can't tell it from chatting with a stranger. Where is the mass outrage that everyone supposedly has? I don't see it. Where is the call to action on this blog or ones like it? There is none. Why not use a blog like this to organize? Unless you really don't believe that it is a problem or a big enough deal for people to get off their asses?
The cons only care when someone from their country club dies

I could not agree more.
I wonder how many Iraqis died this week and how many loved ones they left behind who will carry the scars for a lifetime as we foster more hatred and a mad lust for revenge among humankind. There will be a lot more "in memoriams" when we start dropping bombs on the Iranian people.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing
I don't have anything clever or probing or sarcastic in response to this posting. It's just simply a downright SHAME for all of us.
What will we do when the number of dead Americans hits 4000?
How many innocent Iraqis have died during this illegal occupation of a foreign country?
memoriam. no u.
Did the bush administration put a black out on news from the Iraq front. I have heard nothing this week on CNN or MSNBC about any military deaths or anything at all happening in the war. I suppose they want us to think bush's surge is working.
See what they do for the support of this monster. They let our military dangle. And yet the S.O.B.'s say they support the troops. If the bastar**supported the troops they would want to bring them home.
sphinx @ 18:
I just read the article in the telegraph the link that is posted here.........if the US(aka george the 2nd) decides to start war with IRAN, I hope EVERYONE and I MEAN EVERYONE in the united states is ready for the backlash that will hit. I know I have started in my own way....... I knowningly refuse to invest any money in the us economy, wether through buying stocks, mutual funds or us dollars(incase any of you haven't noticed the canadian dollar is at par). And no I won't vacation there either, I'm goin to Cuba in the spring(April 2008). Canadians can

I have decided to do something!
24 years old, 26 years old.
what the hell? bring these kids home.

Ray, during the vietnam war, every night on the evening news (we watched cronkite) the military reported to the media that there were 245 vietcong killed, 14 americans killed, 31 wounded.
next day--471 vietcong killed,,,22 americans killed 67 wounded......for most stupefying and most likely to make the citizens wonder what the hell is really going on......repeat daily.

We were for Saddam before we were against him.
we are now operating under the belief that peace will only come in the Middle East when there is true self-determination.
Self-determination? The kind that is forced through the barrel of a gun? Bombing them into determining what is best for them? Aren't we saying we know what is best for them by occupying them?
We are giving Iraq a chance to exist? Through destroying it? When you say we liberated millions of people, do you mean the close to a million that are dead or the 2-3 million refugees that have fled to Syria and Jordan?
Speaking of self-determination and the Middle East, in the 50's Iran determined that they wanted a democracy, but our CIA had a different idea, so we overthrew their government and put in the Shah.

I think that's part of bush's "fuzzy math".
In the long run, bush really doesn't count - figuratively AND literally.
My brother in law is serving in Iraq. We just received an e-mail from him stating that one of the soldiers in his unit, a 32 year old female was under great duress and shot herself in the head killing her instantly.
I did not see her name in the list released by the Pentagon. I wonder how many more like these are out there. As far as I am concerned you can make it (11 killed).
R.I.P.
Looks like we got us a gen-you-whine troll in Darcy Lane, who's spewing Bush talking points as if reading off the White House War Menu.
Don't feed the troll - it's only going to tell us how "patriotic" invading Iran is, seeing as it's "justifiable" to occupy another country (Iraq) that had NOTHING to do with 9/11.
Ooops! Sorry guys, thought I was in an intelligent site.
See that I'm not......
The death of the young woman was announced in a Sept. 22 press release saying she died Sept. 20 in Kirkuk. She was attached to the 10th Mountain Division. People at this website have been given much erroneous information or simply refuse to acknowledge what is really happening in Iraq. One of my sons is in Fallujah where the people have turned to our side determining that we are there trying to help them while Al Qaeda was torturing them and killing whole families. Another son is in Baghdad where shops are reopening and people are returning home. We build schools and help the people set up such basic functions as trash pick-up. We send them candy and stuffed animals to give the children. He was in Iraq at the beginning of the war; the infrastructure was crumbling from YEARS of neglect. The rules of engagement are very strict. They are not "cowboys" or deviants. If they are shot at by someone in a crowd, they do not return fire. For every gate that is breached a voucher is given the owner for money to fix it. Most of the soldiers I know have joined the service out of a sense of duty, or family history, or as a means to pay for graduate or undergraduate school. Three of my sons enlisted after 9/11 because they felt they needed to do something. It saddens me to witness the vitriolic comments on this site. You have no idea of the sacrifices our military families make. Imagine not being home for a child's 2nd AND 3rd birthday or watching the birth of your child on a webcam or not getting a shower for 10 days in 115 degree weather. You should not denigrate them, rather, you should be glad that there are men and women who will face discomfort and loneliness to be at the ready to protect you.
Since we have an equal number of "off the books mercenaries" also in Iraq, and they are surely doing more than guarding the embassies, driving trucks and acting as support forces, I can't help but wonder if a few of them were also lost last week, or even if the numbers that are reported on actual military troops aren't underestimated.
God, it's terrible when the first reaction of an American citizen is to question every bit of information that the government hands out.
