I know I'm dating myself, but if any of us believe that the tpping point in our history is now here, we must throw as much support behind Dodd as we can. Send a clear message to the corporotocracy as those they have bought off in Washington, that their day has come on the FISA issue. You may not vote for Dodd for President, but if we can fight back on this important issue, they will be reminded that the country belongs to WE THE PEOPLE.

The fact that the Democrats are in favor of immunity (despite the fact that they said a while back that they weren't) scares me. What of all the other bits of legislation they claim to be against, like the draft, for example. They say it'll never happen, but once Bush invades Iran, the country will have no choice and I can see all of this jerks voting for it.

That's called a deer-stalker cap. Conan Doyle's Holmes rarely wore one, exept maybe in the countryside. He usually wore a top hat.

No kidding. I'd like to know how much money the telecoms under question have donated to each and every senator and congressman. In addition to Rockefeller (How's that for conflict of interest?) Jane at FDL cited Harry Reid as getting around $22,000 from AT & T last year and holding from $15,000 to $50,000. We need answers on all of them.

That's a fair question & statement when speakin' of Clinton & Obama, but Richardson- along with Edwards & Gravel- doesn't sit in Congress. What can he- or, rather, they do but issue a press release?

1. Being "prepared to filibuster" and "blocking a bill with a hold" and "filibustering" are different things.

2. I thought Dodd put a hold on this. What happened: Why is this bill -- if the "threat to have it put on hold" was real -- having to be filibustered?

3. The Senate has apparently cast aside professional courtesty, making way for unprofessional contempt for the Bill of Rights. No news. Move along.

Any Democratic Senator...indeed ANY SENATOR who doesn't actively take part in the filibuster should be removed from office. The bill is a complete violation of the 4th amendment, and every Senator has sworn to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.

It is THEIR DUTY to filibuster. Indeed, the very purpose of having a government is to defend the unalienable rights of WE THE PEOPLE.

No need to wait for the "good graces" of the Senate to agree to something -- by oath -- they are already bound. Let's use this bill -- as it is drafted, and supported -- as evidence warranting stripping Members of Congress of their legislative immunity.

Stop "waiting for" the Congress to "agree" to enforce the Constitution -- they have no option; but do the opposite: use the refusal to timely investigate as evidence of their violations of their oath of office.

Indeed, Dodd is leading; but he's merely doing what he promised -- by oath -- to do. What of the other 534? What is their excuse? Their answer appears to be, "Send us a fax." No, we sent you to DC. That's all that's needed. Any more, and we can find new leadership to replace this failed Congress -- midterm -- with new leadership.

State governors have a role in appointing new leadership in the Congress. Members of Congress convicted of oath of office violations -- as appears widespread -- can be replace. Not "maybe after an election." But now, soon, well before the end of 2007.

Let the Congress "roll over" and let it "pretend the public can do nothing" -- meanwhile, the public should rally behind Dodd and ask, "Where is the rest of the American leadership?" This is not about the Presidency. It is about the oath of office requirement -- in 2007 -- for Members of Congress to put their oath to the Constitution, not telecom lobbyists, first.

They took their oath. Freely. Let them by their actions on this telecom bill, form the basis to issue indictments against Members of Congress for failing to enforce the Supreme Law; for blocking enforcement of FISA. They may have "taken impeachment off the table", but they cannot take We the People from the arena: We are the arena; and they must assent to Our Will. To date, they have refused, or not timely put their oath first. Encourage your friends to draw the line with this Congress. Their 2006 "mandate-honeymoon" needs to swiftly end. Now.

I'll believe a long-time corporate tool like Dodd will do something like this when I actually see it, and not a moment earlier. The Demo's sometimes talk the talk, but dance on the strings of the same masters
