Dodd told us yesterday that he will place a hold on the new bill if it grants immunity to the billion dollar Telecoms that have more money than GOD and just as many lawyers on board to advise them. Don't you think they received excellent legal counsel before they aided Bush's violation of our civil liberties? Kagro X explains what the heck a "hold" is.
Glenn Greenwald explains in detail the bogus "good faith" argument the Telecoms are trying to weasel around with and the one that AT&T already lost in federal court with. Sen. Pat Leahy is also getting on board. Feingold is on board too.
If the bill that ultimately reaches the Senate floor includes immunity and does not adequately protect the privacy of Americans, I will fight it vigorously with every tool at my disposal.”
What will Hillary, Obama, Biden and Richardson do? Issuing press releases isn't going to cut it. The ball is in your court.

Many of you may nver have seen the movie, "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" or watch a movie that continued to play the Battle Hymn Of The Republic. I know I'm dating myself, but if any of us believe that the tpping point in our history is now here, we must throw as much support behind Dodd as we can. Send a clear message to the corporotocracy as those they have bought off in Washington, that their day has come on the FISA issue. You may not vote for Dodd for President, but if we can fight back on this important issue, they will be reminded that the country belongs to WE THE PEOPLE.
I tried to call Dodd to thank him, via the Capitol switchboard, 1-877-851-6437, but the line rang and rang. It must be overload.
I called Wyden's office earlier to thank him for his vote, had to wait 5 minutes (very unusual) to speak with someone. The staffer said it was overwhelmingly in support of Wyden's and Feingold's position.
I think I'll trot over to Dodd's web site and donate $19.84 to show my support for a man who is definitely against this country fulfilling the prophecy of Orwell's 1984.

While Rockefeller has been beneficial to progressives in some instances I have a really bad feeling about him as much of what I've read about him seems to link him to many policy choices that favor money over people. I think I'd sleep easier if folks like him would get voted out in favor of more people in support of humanity like Dodd.

The Telecoms shouldn't get immunity, but if there is ever a major law suit and the Telecoms lose, then us customers will be footing the bill with rate hikes. Either way, the people lose.

I am pro-Kucinich supporter, but the actions taken by Dodd here are very impressive, courageous, and noteworthy. This is what the Democratic party needs more of, god dammit! If he goes through with the filibuster, if need be (and I'm guessing he will) then that will only solidify my respect for Chrois Dodd even more. Give'em hell Chris! God bless you!

Any Democratic Senator...indeed ANY SENATOR who doesn't actively take part in the filibuster should be removed from office. The bill is a complete violation of the 4th amendment, and every Senator has sworn to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.

Looks like Dodd is taking a stand on some issues, he's getting closer to being my candidate
1. Being "prepared to filibuster" and "blocking a bill with a hold" and "filibustering" are different things.
2. I thought Dodd put a hold on this. What happened: Why is this bill -- if the "threat to have it put on hold" was real -- having to be filibustered?
3. The Senate has apparently cast aside professional courtesty, making way for unprofessional contempt for the Bill of Rights. No news. Move along.

Its good to know that there is atleast 1 person in the Senate willing to stand up for American's rights. They took their oath. Freely. Let them by their actions on this telecom bill, form the basis to issue indictments against Members of Congress for failing to enforce the Supreme Law; for blocking enforcement of FISA. They may have "taken impeachment off the table", but they cannot take We the People from the arena: We are the arena; and they must assent to Our Will. To date, they have refused, or not timely put their oath first. Encourage your friends to draw the line with this Congress. Their 2006 "mandate-honeymoon" needs to swiftly end. Now.
