"No End In Sight" Exclusive Armitage interview with DVD release.
By John Amato Tuesday Oct 30, 2007 9:27pm
We've written extensively on the documentary called "No End In Sight" on C&L because we loved it and so did our readers. If you want to understand what happened in Iraq after Bush made his infamous " Mission Accomplished," speech---this is the film to see.
Download | play QT only (big file-29mgs-11:30 minutes)
The DVD has now been released with a few extras including a much longer interview with Richard Armitage. (We've got a new ad running now about the release.) He discusses what he believes are some of the major screwups, i.e., the "de-Ba'athification by Paul Bremer" that the administration implemented, which helped cause the horrible situation in Iraq.
NEIS is a must see! You can grab a copy here...

The clip won't play!
If you're a Netflix subscriber it's available to watch online.
Be-bop-a-lula!
The link to Amazon is broken too. But it sounds like a must see DVD.
Now I know where I've seen Armitage, he's the Cenobite Butterball from Hellraiser.
http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/hillcrest/76/hellraiser/butterball....
It's a big file but it plays,,,
saw this in the theater with someone who doesn't follow politics/current events. the word she used to describe it was "depressing."
This is a must see documentary. But also read Naomi Klein's book The Shock Doctrine to connect the dots that the Bush/Cheney administration has not made "mistakes" but intended the chaos it has created. It gives them a reason for long term occupation and creates the "Shock" needed to control the population so they can implement their restructuring and theft of the oil. It also provides an excuse and bases to use against Iran. The Iraq war is part of a longer and more extensive strategy. But the choir knows all of this, so the question is where do we go from here now that we are waking back up.
haha that interviewer seemed a bit intimidated by him at times
Armitage ain't lyin', they got the whole thing on camera...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29czSGSPE7k
don't really need to watch the film to know what happened. bush influenced the policy at some point and everything he touches comes to ruin so...
I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I missed it in theaters.
It is a wonderful film, horrifying moving film.. You want to attack the screen and take care of those that did not bother to take care of anyone except the corporate schills this war has been run for. I am curius about the extra footage on the DVD.
I watched it last night (netflix) and thought it most impressive. It will make you wonder if a quagmire was not the plan.
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I prey the Lord my soul to keep,
If we should die before I wake,
Georgie and Dickie... the Devil should take.
the DVD sounds like a must have
you can download it on bittorrent. its pretty overrated in my opinion. i watched it and didn't really learn anything new. PBS's FRONTLINE has many episodes on iraq that are better. like these:
THE LOST YEAR IN IRAQ
ENDGAME
THE INSURGENCY
GANGS OF IRAQ
Here's copy of The Shock Doctrine video done in collaboration with Naomi Klein's book...

These guys are smart.. and wicked.
Be sure to read Imperial Life in the Emerald City as well.
Great book about the same time period the movie covers.
I trust Armitage about as far as I could throw him, and judging by his size that's not very far.
The War is the problem with our Iraq policy. Of course it was bungled and is
hopelessly corrupt: the war is corrupt at its core.
...
I can see why Armitage and Cheney are so close. Those two are the personification of evil.
"He discusses what he believes are some of the major screwups, i.e., the “de-Ba’athification by Paul Bremer” that the administration implemented, which helped cause the horrible situation in Iraq."
Armitage is a GIGANTIC LIAR, and these were NOT "major screwups,'" these were knowing acts by knowing actors who are engaged in GENOCIDE.
J. Paul Bremer is Kissinger's righthand man. And Kissinger was overheard in early 2004 saying to his Saudi clients:
"There IS NO MORE IRAQ. There will be three territories."
Bremer claims he was told with two weeks notice that he is to head CPA.
Well, take a look at what he did with so little preparation: ONE HUNDRED ORDERS, among them, #1 full deBaathification to four levels -- which destroyed Iraq's middle class -- and #2 disbanding the entire Iraq security force structure -- which the Pentagon had been promised as border security from the start.

The only comparable case of mysteriously being able to gin up EXACTLY the worst possible mayhem was the Patriot Act, which appeared instantaneously after America's worst terror attack, all 600 pages of it, as if written by angels.
They're not making mistakes. They are making genocide.
*Please make a note of it.
I get no sound with this clip. It plays, but no sound in QT or VLC player for me.
I have sound on every other mov file on the page though.
interviewer seems to not have researched his subject well at all. and is almost carelessly antagonizing him. a little painful to watch as a filmmaker...and maybe just a person watching a film. i can't say i know anything about the overall film. it could be great for all i know. but in the context of the stature of the person on camera, this interviewer (dir?) seemed pretty inexperienced. and why is the shooter continually jerking and zooming the lens? agh!
sorry. i'm picky, i know. :)
Here is an oddity: try searching movies.yahoo.com for No End in Sight-nothing shows! Google it and you will find the yahoo page.
Blah, blah, blah...
George C. Scott would have played him brilliantly!
Its up now at sharethefiles. download to your torrent or emule.
Paul in LA @ 21:
I am sooo happy to note that I am not the only one who thought that was mighty mysterious! I asked that in 2002 and people gave me the most condescending retorts. But there was a big question in my mind on how the hell was the administration able to redact 600 pages in record time. It was signed into law in October 26, 2001. That is 43 days from 9/11 to be signed into law.
Now, nothing in government works at such speed. Much less a significant piece of legislation like the patriot act, which is written by committee and that has to include tons of legal input for each freaking paragraph. Most of the times, legislation is written at a glacial pace, and for a very good reason. Yet this monstrosity moved faster than the speed of light. Heck, many lawmakers complained that they did not even had enough time to read it, so how could they write it so fast? And further more, how can the thing pass while ground zero was still smoldering???
And no one thought that was a big red flag, for a while I thought most Americans had lost all their common sense. One thing is being a conspiracy nut, another is to completely throw out of the window any sort of common sense, and the patriot act did not pass the smell test. I was just mortified how the majority of the country just went with it. How the fuck is one law supposed to be written if you don't even know what just happened. Just the shell shock that we all were experiencing in October. How could the government have their shit so together as to produce the patriot act?
And not one, not a single Democrat even dare to question: "Eeer, excuse me Mr. Boosh, how the hell did you guys manage to write all this in such a sort time?"
Dr. Who, factor the Amerithrax attacks.
"Senator Patrick Leahy, one of the recipients of an anthrax letter, publicly stated just before the sixth anniversary of the case that he believes people within the US government know the source of the anthrax powder.[1]"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_anthrax_attacks
This list of those attacked is quite instructive.
Five people died, twenty-two were infected, eleven very seriously.
The first wave, one week to the day after Nine-eleven:
• AMI (National Enquirer), NBC, ABC, CBS, NY Post
Three weeks later,
• Senator Daschle, Senator Leahy
"More potent than the first anthrax letters, the material in the Senate letters was a highly refined dry powder consisting of about one gram of nearly pure spores." which caused the more serious 'inhalation' form of the disease --wikipedia
The note they received (or would have received, in Leahy's case) was similar to the first, get this:
09-11-01
YOU CAN NOT STOP US.
WE HAVE THIS ANTHRAX.
YOU DIE NOW.
ARE YOU AFRAID?
DEATH TO AMERICA.
DEATH TO ISRAEL.
ALLAH IS GREAT
That doesn't sound made up, eh? I presume the word Mohammad wasn't used because it would be too specific to the supposed region. Anyhow, I mention all this strictly for 'historical interest.'
It makes one wonder if disbanding the Iraqi army was actually
completely planned, because it would mean the combat would
have to continue as long as it has, thus keeping the war machine
and the war profiteering chugging along, full steam.
Millions - soon billions - lining the pockets of the criminals....
What they DIDN'T plan on, was the "insurgency" -
which we all know is anyone and everyone in the
entire Iraq population who wants to fight off being illegally occupied.
Not tr'rrists, not the army - just the citizens who refuse
to let the Bush Crime Family (TM) control their country.
They all thought this "cakewalk" would be a year of combat,
then securing all the oil once that was finished.
Little did they know..........stupid f'ckers
"Senator Patrick Leahy, one of the recipients of an anthrax letter, publicly stated just before the sixth anniversary of the case that he believes people within the US government know the source of the anthrax powder."
C'mon - we all know the anthrax was mailed from a cave...
The problem? The cave's address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Now it all makes perfect sense. Dubya got pissed off 'cause Armitage named him Mr. Pink, and Cheney got the cool name, Mr. Black. So Bush disbanded the Army, because he is the War President.
"That'l show 'em heh heh"
Great movie. Saw it on a big screen here in North Carolina. Probably the best single piece against the Iraq War.
Armitage might play the easy going logical guy but he is just as bad as the rest. And what is it with him getting tough with the interviewer when he doesn't understand a question. Armitage wants the world to think Iraq wasn't his fault. But he said he was for the Iraq war. So he got what he wanted. They just didn't do it his way.
Another must have dvd is "iraq for sale"....to say that it made me very very angry at this administration is a massive understatement....
Who cares what this spook says?
He should be in jail for the murders and rapes of thousands during the Reagan Central American wars.
Confedrancy @ 19 and Paul @ 21: Both of you are absolutely correct and right on.
Armitage is a total sleeze bag, cannot be trusted and is just one of the gang and reason
there were problems in Iraq from day one. And by the way, using the term "sleeze bag"
is being overly generous as to a description of that asshole.
We watched it a couple of nights ago and thought Armitage was performing the greatest feat of CYA we had ever seen.
Armitage...wasn't he the guy who outed Plame? He has as much credibility as a constipated clam.
Armitage had no business outing Plame. However, he was fed the information by Scooter Libby and crew who knew that he was an inveterate gossip and could not keep his damn mouth shut. I firmly believe that was part of the protective strategy. Cheney has a genius for one thing-bureaucratic maneuvering in the executive branch. He is quite good at that, and he knows how to hide his tracks very, very well.
In this arena Armitage has credibility, and was indeed part of the State department crew that tried to get Rummy and Cheney to listen up about how to properly run an occupation. I firmly believe we should never have invaded. But given the invasion, there were as Barbara Bodine says in the movie, 500 ways to screw up the occupation, and the Provisional authority went through each.
You have all been tricked. Sit down. Get yourself a coffee and try not to feel whoozy as I explain to you that Bush is not a moron.
They wanted an insurgency. They knew it would happen and they planned it that way.
This idiotic movies supports the incompetency theory. They would have us believe that they disbanded the army, fired the bureaucracy, suspended elections and most importantly did not know this would cause an insurgency. Think about it. There is no way that Wolfowitz, Perle, and Wurmser did not understand what the result would be. They put their man--- Bremer---- in there to cause the insurgency and that is what he did.
They wanted permanent bases, to carve the country into three pieces (no it isn't Biden's plan- read Wurmser's Tyranny's Allie), and to start a war with Iran.
They never wanted democracy, stability and peace in Iraq.
You people are the same idiots that are going to run around and say Bush didn't know that bombing Iran would cause oil prices to double, a major world recession and a wider Middle East War. Yes they know and yes they want it to happen. Everything is going according to plan for these people including keeping ignorant liberals like you smug and oblivious to the larger plan. So go ahead and feel superior. It will be a feeling that will soon dissipate into a feeling that YOU HAVE BEEN HAD. There is no excuse in the age of Google to remain so ignorant. Unless you do some research on the Neocons, PNAC, Cheney's 1999 speech, the Unitary Executive (before you get all overheated defending this Psyop movie, please make use of Google) than you will continue to think that these guys are idiots. They are not idiots; they are Sociopaths. And they are anteing up for the big hand. So WAKE UP. What better way could they cloak their evil plan than having CHIMP BOY operate as their front man.
I wipe my butt with this fuckin stupid movie.
bamboozled @ 41:
Wow, that shut the house down.....
eerily silent...
PS - I think you are giving them a bit too much credit.
PNAC, Bases, Oil , = Yes
However,
Incompetent=yes (still)
I don't think that their plan for fascism in the U.S. and world domination will actually work. But it will be more likely to succeed if the U.S. public doesn't educate itself. So to twist a quote from Jon Stewart- "This movie is hurting America- Stop hurting America".
Ruth 2 Power @ 31 "It makes one wonder if disbanding the Iraqi army was actually completely planned,"
Gee, ya think? And, btw, they knew all about the upcoming insurgency, because of several CIA and Pentagon studies. They knew how this would rollout and NEVER thought they would throw flowers or any of the rest of that malarky.
This is genocide, not a series of 'mistakes.'
bamboozled @ 41 "So go ahead and feel superior."
You seem to be doing that quite well.
JT @ 42:
I agree with this-never underestimate the explanatory power of incompetence over conspiracy theory.
Still, the PNAC, Bases, Oil + free market imposition = Yes.
I do take serious stock of the Naomi Klein ``Shock Doctrine'' perspective, and I don't discount the possibility that Cheney wants that for the US itself (if this expensive war kills the treasury, all the better for the shockers). However, I believe that these people implementing the shock doctrine in Iraq (ie, Bremer) are more true believers in the faith of Friedmanesque free markets than economically competent individuals. Of course, to some extent, that has to be true of any deeply believing ideologue-if you are a total subscriber to one ideology you seldom give your mind the intellectual range needed to respond to problems as they are as opposed to problems as you have predetermined them to be.
Conspiracy theory. HA HA----- sorry, not a conspiracy theory when you write it all down.
Present Danger by Kagan, Wolfowitz et. al.
Rebuilding America's defenses- PNAC
Cheney's speech at the London Institute of Economics 1999
Tyranny's Allie by David Wurmser
Preserving the Unipolar Moment by Charles Krauthammer
Defense Policy Guidance Report 1992(This is perhaps the easiest to read and the most telling)
The Plan is World Domination through control of the world's remaining oil. This is a neo-mercantile strategy--- it has absolutely nothing to do with Adam Smith. They can only do that with the help of liberal ignorance and by imposing fascism in the United States. We are going to bomb Iran which will disrupt the oil flow to China and then hope that the PRC goes up in flames.
Stop being a dumbass. Just because you pop off with the word conspiracy theory doesn't make you any less ignorant.
It's just like Mein Kampf. They've written it all down.
You are like the well meaning European who in 1939 is shocked, shocked that Hitler would be so bold as to invade Poland and then France and then Russia.
calscientist @ 40:
I'm not sure how you know he was fed information by Cheney...where was that reported? Also, all wars are screwed up. I can't think of one that went well...
Why should we give any credibility to this guy?
Remember that he has admitted to being the first one to out Valarie Plame-Wilson.As far as I'm concerned this is just another of the Bush minions that is making a stab at revisionist history in order to cover his own ass.
sassafra @ 10:
Bush is the anti-Midas. Instead of turning to gold, everything he touches turns to shit.
Sad.
www.reedwrites.ca
scruzman @ 47:
It has not been reported per se, but I put two and two together after reading that Armitage was known as an inveterate gossip. This is I think classic track covering by Cheney, although inexcusable by Armitage. The deal is that if you look over Armitage's histrory, he is a Powell ally, and that puts him in this administration immediately at odds with Cheney.
I'm just wondering ... when guys with 100 years of combined government experience, including state, mil and mil intel sit around a table and are "surprised" that a dickhead makes an off-plan decision that negatively affects the lives of someone else's sons and daughters in uniform, as well as the success of the nations foreign policy, just WTF those learned men do in such a situation? Well we were all surprised is their response?!?! That is not a GD answer to what needed to happen. Why did no one call that moron (Bremer) back to DC immediately and have his second countermand his debath and IA dissolution orders and get their ass back on plan in Mesopotamia really fucking fast, or they were all out the fed retirement. What the hell could Armitage the those "in charge" been thinking?
