Hmmm... interesting that Time-Warner here in Austin, TX decided to do a cable box firmware upgrade at exactly 7:30-8:00, local time. It was back up and running for The Office at 8:05... we just had to miss 30 Rock, all the while wondering why they decided to do the upgrade during Thurs prime time... hmmm.....

shows will completely shut down when they run out of written material. that's why feature films aren't affected - there are a zillion scripts out there written and ready to go. just stuff that they wouldn't touch last week (that can be good and bad).

regardless, i saw tina fey interviewed on the picket line two days ago so that show was definitely taped before the strike.

and, alec baldwin IS fantastic. the episode/scene where he goes to therapy with tracy morgan is unbelievable.

I actually don't think so. I think the wingnuts would have continued their agitation of the system in the arrogant belief that the public agreed with them. They would have gotten nuttier and nuttier and eventually done something we all would have regretted. Something a lot worse than attacking the twin towers.

Look at how they're acting when their dickhead President is at 24% in the polls. They literally cannot think right about anything. They believe that America, "Real Americans" are mislead by a "Liberal Media" and that everything is just fuckpeachy in Iraq. We have the lowest "unemployment rate" in 20 years, and the economy is just going GREAT GUNS. Yayy! CLAP LOUDER!

But the public understands these people now. They understand that Republicans are stupid, mendacious, greedy cock-gobbling self-loathing liars who have no interest in what's good for America.

Kind of like a really bad piece of meat that you've eaten. You can either throw it up and taste it again, or let it pass through you and feel some pain. The public's had to feel some pain.

Of course, we may get a chance after all to regurgitate Cheney. I understand impeachment's on the table. I'd like me a piece of impeachment pie, please.

Why is he referred to as "Vice President Gore"? The man was elected President and he should ALWAYS be referred to as "President Gore. He legitimately won a presidential election and was illegitimately denied the presidency. We didn't rise up in sufficient numbers with sufficient action to take back our democracy when our own Supreme Court stepped outside its Constitutional bounds to deny us his presidency. The very least we can do is address him as "President".

With me, it's always "President Gore". The other guy is simply "Bush", "Dubya" or "Dumbya" -- but NEVER "president".

And that's my beef for the day. Thank you and have a great weekend.

Doug @ 54:

What would've been funnier is if Al had said "Listen! I hear the Manbearpig!" and then runs off....

Al Gore speaks about "Manbearpig"

Please don't mention that episode. It's embarrassingly bad.

I said it before and I'll say it again: It's one thing to satirize a legitimate aspect of a person's personality. For example, were they making fun of President Bush, they could have him acting like a complete idiot.

With Al Gore, it simply doesn't make sense. He's highly intelligent; read any of his books and you'll see that. Before he was a politician, he was an accomplished academic.

"Super cereal?" Give me a break.

It'd be the same if they took Einstein and made him say: 'Hey, guis! Look at this stuff I found out! Everything is relativational! I'm super cereal!'

Does it fit?

Exactly.

Trying to smear someone in this way is weaksauce.

Just sayin'.

Doug's picture

Well Shawnmeat some of us have different senses of humor. I didn't think that Manbearpig episode was a smear. I do know Gore is very smart and that is why it was funny to me.

Satire is subjective.

Making fun of Bush for being an idiot is cheap and not very hard. What is funny is if they made fun of him as being very smart.

wah00kid's picture

To those Morons who are posting that Al Gore crossed the picket line to appear on the show: you must be overdosing on stupidity pills!.

Did you not notice that all the regular actors appeared with him, including the creator and head writer.

Let me make it easy to grasp for you simple minded fools: You can not cross a picket line that was not established at the time that the show was taped.

Finally: The writers do not want their current strike message diluted by the support of such stupid people.

Pretty funny.

That blunt, obvious (sometimes hackish) kind of funny that SNL does. But this particular clip as a little funny despite that. Besides, Baldwin can act. Tina should learn to write more for adults, less for 10 year olds.

Gore is hilarious though. He is smooth and natural -- UNTIL he delivers his lines about the environment! Ha! Anytime he talks about policy, he goes wooden and singsong... even when 'acting'! Poor guy. Like one of those feinting goats. Reminds me of Dole turning back into a human from a zombie the moment he lost.

Actually he reminds me of Shatner also. Gore should grow the beard out again, and do a show with Bill...
