Host Co-Host John Gibson of Fixed Noise won the Bronze on Countdown's Worst Person In The World segment for saying Valerie Plame was part of an anti-Bush cabal within the CIA and the person who outed her deserves a medal. The Silver went to Rudy Giuliani for saying he should have--but didn't--vote for Richard Nixon in the 1972 presidential election and the Gold went to the New York Post for mocking poll respondents who believed the government failed to heed warnings prior to 9/11 -- after the same paper threw Bush under the bus in 2002 using the following headline -
9/11 Bombshell - BUSH KNEW - Prez was warned of possible hijackings before terror attacks

BUSH KNEW!!! Exactly. Stick with the message, idiots. You had it right the first time.
Gibson is proof that reich-wingers gladly sell out their country for the sake of their [perverse] party.
I liked the way he ripped into The NY Post....good stuff.
And to think Gibson used to be with MSNBC. Yuk..
Keith was clearly having fun tonight. He might have more fun tomorrow if this story is confirmed (scroll down) http://www.clevelandleader.com/
I thought Lott's resignation was a little, uh, sudden.
Excellent job as usual. I was hoping that he would have said that the NY Post threw themselves under the bus with their commentary.
Does Olbermann allow people to submit candidates for "worst person in the world"?
Cartman @ 5:
Holy shit!
I'm still waiting for Keith to name himself again, for shitting on Hugo Chavez.
Now I can't watch these without thinking of the Simpsons.
miss_kitty @ 9:
Good point.
Rudy's got the bullshit turned up to 11 already.
"Gold went to the New York Post for mocking poll respondents who believed the government failed to heed warnings prior to 9/11"
You can no longer question what happened on 9/11 without being mocked. Even on this site. How does one find the truth in a sea of lies?
Is anyone here a little upset that 3000 of our citizens were killed on 9/11 and our government should have been able to prevent it? Does anyone here know what PNAC stands for? They have what they wanted, does that bother anyone?
When terrorism runs out, what will be the new jet fuel for the military industrial complex?
miss_kitty @ 9:
Have you ever seen the film "the last king of scotland"?
Jo @ 8:
The man did spend a butt load of money on his re-election campaign to resign after one year in office.
Newscorp is the modern day version of Mussolini's Il Popolo d'Italia newspaper. There's no low they won't stoop to. "do you have that in a shade of 9/11?"-Rudy to wig shop employee
Glad to see he included Gibson in that. I tried... without success... to find an email link to alert KO of the Gibson quote, but thankfully, someone else got word to him.
NwOnitsway @ 13:
I have to disagree. The moderation of 9/11 alternative theories has improved substantially since the last year. Almost 50% of respondents in some polls suggest that the majority of people disbelieve the governments explanation. Especially since the govt has had such a stellar record of openness, honesty, and truth telling.
miss_kitty @ 9:
Why? Chavez is no saint.
Dr. Matt @ 19:
People are starting to like anyone who Bush hates.
After Pat Robertson called for the asassination of Chavez I personally couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards Chavez.
But Chavez is now clearly following the path shown in The Last King of Scotland.
somehow, some piece of murdoKKK shit always finds a way to land on the list.
CD @ 20:
what exactly is wrong with chavez?
CoIntelPro @ 22:
You have no problem with a "man" that shuts down opposition media and television?
NwOnitsway @ 13:
I think somehow the dead are so sacred and the event so shocking that investigating for the truth and accepting that facts has always been a problem. 9/11 IS the modern 3rd rail of american and amurKKKan politics.
CoIntelPro @ 22:
Heads of state should be above racist name calling.
StirFry @ 12:
Not that high. Louder than nine, though. Somewhere between 9 - 11.
oops...
Truth Be Told @ 18:
I'm glad you disagree, the problem that I see is this. The mainstream media has in the last year put anything 9/11 related off the table. (I'm talking about facts that question the official version.) You have to ask yourself, do we have a free press anymore? We can see a further consolidation of the media, even local media. This only leads to one end. Unless we as Americans start to actually stand up and do something to defend our God given rights, we will loose those rights. I'm am sorry but the US has become a consumer nation. We no longer have the collective will to stand up and do the right thing. If the American people ever do stop watching "The Real World" and start engaging in the real world we live in we will wake up one day living in a dictatorship. I think that we are already there but we are being shown an illusion that we actually have a choice. Let me ask you this, when you cast your vote and kicked the Republicans out of office and replaced them with the Democrats, what did you expect would happen? Did you expect your voice to be heard? Why was it not? I will tell you why, the Democrats are the reverse side of one coin. The coin has flipped but it is still the same coin. We the people need a new party and a new direction that actually represents "We the people."
In closing, if the Democrats would actually do their job an begin the impeachment process, we would start to learn how sick and twisted this administration really is. But you notice it hasn't built legs with the democrats, why? Because they are not interested in finding the truth, asking the hard questions. It is their turn to skim money off the American people through the death and destruction that is OUR WAR. (yes it is all of our war until we collectively stand up and demand that it ends.) Not only are our Political parties interested in finding the truth, nor is our "free press." The very word free press is now a lie. Corporate Press.
Dr. Matt @ 23:
If they are lying like american media is, I don't see a problem.
CD @ 25:
I'll give you that. It is very immature. But is he draining his economy for his wealthy friends? Is he sending his people off to die for a lie? has he left a destroyed city unrepaired unless his friends get the contracts?
CoIntelPro @ 28:
How telling and quite fascist, comrade.
CoIntelPro @ 29:
Please resist your hatred of herr dubyah and attempt to focus on Chavez.
NwOnitsway @ 27:
you make great points!
but....
1) our media is controlled
2) the democrats do not do their job.
Dr. Matt @ 30:
telling of what, namecaller?
CoIntelPro @ 29:
A head of state childish enough to use racist terms the way Chavez has is capable of a great many darker things.
Ask yourself; if Chavez did order atrocities would you believe it when they were reported?
Dr. Matt @ 31:
you could answer the questions, if you like and not presume anything about my feelings for dumbyah. or how about these:
outside of the immature displays, what is wrong with chavez?
NwOnitsway @ 27:
Trust me, I am awake in the full sense of recognizing "what is," and what is portrayed. To answer your question, no, we don't have a free press. Haven't had one since the robber-baron age when the financial elite bought them all up. The newspapers and media have changed hands or consolidated, but the elites still own them either outright, or by proxy and front groups. Organizations exist that vet the political class and prepare them for their role in front of the cameras as our "leaders." However, they are merely middle-management.
CoIntelPro @ 28:
Please enlighten all of us as how the opposition media was lying about Chavez.
CD @ 34:
what atrocities? no hypotheticals please. that reminds me of the torture question: would it be ok if my family were hostage? please stay away from that kind of thing.
Dr. Matt @ 37:
please tell me what they were saying. please do not cite AP or yahoo as sources.
CoIntelPro @ 35:
Are you too obtuse to read the 23rd post in this thread? "People" like you put your hatred of herr dubyah on par with the love of a fascist.
Do you know about Chavez's human rights record? Or, does your hatred of herr dubyah trump whatever your hero does?
CoIntelPro @ 38:
hypothetical situations such as the one I described must be confronted head on.
CoIntelPro @ 39:
You are the one that claims they are lying....please enlighten all of us as how the opposition media was lying about Chavez. Your hatred of herr dubyah has made you lost of any and all objectivity.
NwOnitsway @ 41:
"Does anyone care that Max Cleland quit the 9/11 commission because he knew that it was a fraud to the American people."
Link?
It is interesting to note that the NY Post had the pictures of the 9/11 hijackers plastered all over its front page the next day. Since no one knew at the time who the hijackers were, where did the Post get the pictures?
Cartman @ 5:
yet another round of meth-n-manAss!!!
CoIntelPro @ 46:
Dr. Matt @ 40:
first you call me names , then obtuse. please connect the human rights record with the press. tell me more about it than the terms racist, fascist, herr dumbyah, etc. I'm pretty sure you can actually communicate better than that.
purvis ames @ 45:
well murdocKKK enterprises seems to have an inside track on the 2000 elections , as well.
go figure!
CD @ 44:
From Max Cleland on the 9/11 Commission
Dr. Matt @ 37:
Dr Matt, he's allowed the opposition media operate for years, even though they have been largely responsible for the Anti-Chavez activity in Venezuela, including the coup.
Now that their leases on the airwaves are coming up for renewal, he's choosing not to renew their licenses. We
havehad the same system here. The bad press on Chavez is coming from the big money men, because Chavez is intent on nationalising the assets that rich people hold, for the benefit of the mostly poor people that voted for him as their president.
Venezuela's Media Coup
"Venezuela's private television stations are owned by wealthy families with serious financial stakes in defeating Chávez. Venevisión, the most-watched network, is owned by Gustavo Cisneros, a mogul dubbed "the joint venture king" by the New York Post. The Cisneros Group has partnered with many top US brands--from AOL and Coca-Cola to Pizza Hut and Playboy--becoming a gatekeeper to the Latin American market.
Cisneros is also a tireless proselytizer for continental free trade, telling the world, as he did in a 1999 profile in LatinCEO magazine, that "Latin America is now fully committed to free trade, and fully committed to globalization.... As a continent it has made a choice." But with Latin American voters choosing politicians like Chávez, that has been looking like false advertising, selling a consensus that doesn't exist.
All this helps explain why, in the days leading up to the April coup, Venevisión, RCTV, Globovisión and Televen replaced regular programming with relentless anti-Chávez speeches, interrupted only for commercials calling on viewers to take to the streets: "Not one step backward. Out! Leave now!" The ads were sponsored by the oil industry, but the stations carried them free, as "public service announcements." "
I am surprised you've purchased the anti-Chavez hype. I hope you can return it and get your money back.
By the way, how did this thread get hijacked by Hugo Chavez? Talk about off topic.
CD @ 44:
I don't know anyone who doesn't care. I nearly lost two friends that day and from the roof of my place of work I watched all three buildings burn and fall. I truly believe you should not infer indifference on anyone. It is unfair.
miss_kitty @ 50:
thank you, madam, for some facts!
CD @ 44:
Please accept my apology. that was meant for: NwOnitsway @ 41:
CoIntelPro @ 52:
I didn't mean to infer you are or have ever been indifferent to what happend on 9/11.
CD @ 56:
Same here, I just want some justice for the dead. Their blood cries out to us!
NwOnitsway @ 57:
we are all in agreement. I believe it is fair for me to say that.
"You are the one that claims they are lying….please enlighten all of us as how the opposition media was lying about Chavez. Your hatred of herr dubyah ..." drMatt
Is "herr dubya" your hero troll. Go back to free republic where you belong little stupid man.
It's so damned hard to keep picking 'Worse', 'Worser', and 'Worst'.
C'mon, tell the truth. Is there just a big barrel-full of playing cards with pictures of all the NeoCon zionists, republican politicians, and Fox pundits and pundettes, from which cards are drawn at random? And, I presume, thrown back into the barrel, since we do have repeats?
And does the drawing happen in a jovial, party atmosphere, with lots of mind-altering substances, and wild shouts of glee and approbation?
Inquiring minds want to know.
gibson is such a dork.
[deleted--not on this site, thanks]
Gibson would sooo special in a tailored SS uniform.
Shouldn't this segment be entitled "Worst Paper in the World"?
The amount of hairspray and other hair immobility products that Gibson uses must at least partially responsible for the melting glaciers! I mean really! His fuckin hair must be bulletproof!
of course he knew.
"bin laden determined to strike inside the US" august PDB
liberalNmoderation @ 64:
His hair IS bulletproof. It's for protecting against the terrorists. The terrorist Bush haters in the CIA, the terrorists warning against global warming, and yes, even the terrorists under his bed.
Otay @ 66:
Heeeeheheheee! Them turrist's is around every corner!
New York Post... no credibility whatsoever! Blah, blah, blah... just like Fox Spews! Jackasses!!
Did anyone see Olbermann at halftime in Sunday night's game? That was the WORST!
When Bush was warned he said, "ok, now you guys have covered your asses". Billions of dollars are spent generating the false narrative that keeps the American public in a state of terrified cognitive dissonance.
rb @ 69:
I saw it...not the best segment. But Costas is such an uptight little guy, and whats-his-face...uuh Collinsworth...he's not the sharpest tool in the shed at times, but his comment at the end was pretty good I thought. But don't ask me to quote him, because I have no memory for sportscasters babbling during halftime...hell usually, I mute the tv.
worst person.i am hearing this for the first time.anyway thanks for listing.

Stop me if you've heard this before: I wouldn't line my birdcage with the NY Post. Utter garbage. I'd put Gibson in there but he'd enjoy it too much.
