John Amato-- fix the misleading Jay Leno headline (see comments). Leno is NOT firing people. He is not crossing the picket line, which is why *NBC* is firing people. Leno is paying wages to people who aren't even his employees. Please correct.
That picture of Ass*ole Alberto on an open thread, makes me feel like I've swallowed a rope with a dead fish on it.
This could be another day in paradise, why bring up our decadent, unlawful, torture-ridden past, personified by a mentally-deranged, intellectually-bereft, wanna-be wetback? Who, if there were a 'god' in the heavens, would have been picking lettuce in the Imperial Valley, 24/7/365, instead of fu*king up our justice system, as head of the DOJ, so appointed just because he liked licking Bush's ass?
Out of sight, out of mind, please do not disinter Gonzales again, he brings shame to the Latino/a community.
Why don't Hillary and Barack kiss and make up, and let Bill raise their bastard child (unless it's a girl, in which Child Protective Services would have to step in). While they're kissing, old stealth John Edwards is gonna slip in and land some great endorsements and support, and knock them on their asses.(Figuratively, I pick him by 1 to 2 %)

Hugo Chavez was just handed his first major defeat as sitting president of Venezuela. He will not be able to run for president for life. Democracy won a little battle today.
Can it be really true that we're all powerless to stop this careening train wreck we're all riding on?
We thought we changed direction in the '06 election, but the Dems we elected turned out to be cojones-challenged wimps. That friggin' Pelosi, inbred from a long-term establishment political family, takes impeachment 'off the table'. WTF does she think she is, she's violating the Constitution as much as The Dummy, it's her DUTY to impeach a treasonous, traitorous administration, not bend over and let them stick it to her-and US!
The gross lies continue, and it appears we're about to commit yet another major, 'pre-emptive' crime, and it'll be committed IN ALL OUR NAMES!
I have nothing against the Iraqis, or the Iranians, but I'm really pissed at this 'administration', and the NeoCon Zionists who control and direct it.
Hugo Chavez was just handed his first major defeat as sitting president of Venezuela. He will not be able to run for president for life. Democracy won a little battle today.
But isn't it interesting, that this US-declared 'Dictator', allowed himself to be outvoted. That's more than tour republican-zionist dictatorship allowed in the '00 and '04 elections.
George Orwell could right a few bestsellers books about this i sure ;)
I think he already did... ;) too bad they are using them as playbooks instead of cautionary tales.
Not just British citizens, anyone, in any country. Our Supremes, and this arrogant administration, have declared ourselves Rulers of the Planet Earth. (Doncha wish the Russkys, and the Chinks, would get together and kidnap Bush and Cheney?)

Let me present these two little gems to the members of the World Idols Team ;)
If (when) we attack Iran, it's going to drastically affect the world's oil supply and market.
Suppose Chavez, tired of the screwing around of the CIA in his country, and the insults from Bush, decides to cut off oil to the US, what are we gonna do, open a second front in Caracas?
And if you think he needs the US as a market for his oil, don't you think the Chinese, or the Indians, would like to assure their energy futures by making a deal with Chavez?
And how are you gonna like your Hummer when gas goes to $10/$20 a gallon, if there is any. Hell, you could get a real hummer, from a Vegas show broad, for less than it would cost you to fill your tank.

Hillary Clinton CONTINUES to plant questions in debates...only this time she planted a questioner in the GOP youtube debate!! hahaha....what a loser! These democrats are apparently not learning anything! Is it any wonder she has such little support in the country and in the polls? Useless woman she is...no ideas...no vision...no hope...
I'm sorry, but if the dems have to resort to planting in the debates, and their paid buddies over at CNN don't bother to fact check the questioners, makes one realize how corrupt this crony corporatism has become in this country. The American people need to understand that the dems and CNN have created a partisan news org like Fox.
Stop the corruption in Washington!
In other news, Google has just announced that they are investing in new energy sources. Folks, the gooberment is not the only group of people capable of solving the energy problem! Hooray for the "evil" free enterprise corporations!

"Hillary + Clinton = dynasty = Bush + Bush + ?
time to kick all those idiots out and get back the constintution and start again."
Seriously, if Hillary were elected, would this not violate the two term limit for Bill Clinton? He would be living in the WH after all, and would no doubt be an advisor to Hillary.
Is she wins, that would make it at least 2012 - 1988 = 24 years that either a Clinton or a Bush was in the WH. I never knew we were supposed to live in a monarchy.
Of course I agree with you that this country needs the Constitution again.
Hmmm...I wonder who is the only candidate who swears to uphold it if elected? Hmmm...
Bush and Gonzo laugh at the corruption they have saddled America with. America has been raped and thrown on the sidewalk. America is owned by an ignorant few who have set themselves up and above for life they hope. The nature of our culture has been changed maybe forever. Global economics means the loss of tribe and only greed as the new global and national mantra. No good will come from the actions of BushCo.
If we put a memorial cross, for each American service person killed or wounded in Iraq, on all US Freeways, there would be more than one cross per mile.

Afganistan, Iraq, Iran, Venezuala, that makes it the 4th front.

Why does it make a difference if somebody who asks a question at a debate was affiliated with somebody on 'The Other Side'? Surely it doesn't make the question any less valid. The question could have been asked by a republican. Its another case of 'Attack the messenger, ignore/divert attention from the message'.
If they can't face the other half of their own nation, how can these candidates face Al Quaida? Can they only survive these 'debates' if the pack is stacked with soft questions that allow plenty of mentions of 911, scary brown people, apple pie and how they love their moms?
They could have made that cartoon even better by adding in Ollie North's "I don't recall" from the Iran-Contra hearings. It would add a little nostalgia to it and draw a clear line that all of them have been and always will be crooks and liars.
Are we going to stop this son of a bitch or not? Giuliani is dangerous, please help spread this video to everyone you can. Let's make this a viral video and expose this sick bastard. Well, apparently some carpers are claiming 'foul' in the recent Russian election. Gary Kasparov, for example, said it 'Was the most unfair and dirtiest in Russia's election history'.
He did not, however, go so far as to compare it unfavorably with the most recent American elections.
So the Bushies still hold the record for the least fair elections, with Pakistan and Myanamar running close seconds.
Christmas will be when the bottom drops out, and 'rich' American homeowner/investors have to make do with gruel instead of turkey to meet their mortgage payments. One possible partial solution the administration is considering, is converting the mortgage terms from dollars to euros or yuan, retroactive to the start of the troubled mortgages (roughly, three to two years ago), but this would require a multi-trillion dollar loan from China, which does not seem interested in providing more loans whose security is real estate over-priced by as much as fifty percent. Have the Chinese become more discerning, or have the Americans become less credible and credit worthy? Most investors are betting on the latter, and bailing on the American market, and investing in pork bellies.
And first world warriors fight U.S. wars for hundred or thousands of dollars per day, e.g. Balckwater assassins. Harvard University, together with most major universities, is now offering bachelor and advanced-degree programs in MercenaryShip, becoming a for-pay warrior/assassin, since the personal incomes approach, and in some cases exceed, those of attorneys and doctors.
Of course, the only market for their services is the U.S. government, and it's future is 'doubtful', so most universities have plans to escape to their off-shore campuses when the final debacle occurs, and covert their MercenaryShip programs to PatrioticRevolutionary courses, offering a doctorate for those who succeed in taking back the American Dream.
Of course, some years later, under duress, Union Carbide finally offered a compensatory 'We deeply regret' statement to the families of those murdered.

Anyone watch "Family Guy" last night? I can't believe that show is on Fox.
The main character went back in time to 1984, courtesy of the grim reaper, and screwed up the sequence of events that made his life what it is. By doing so, GORE was now president, we had universal health care and there was no more crime.

That Paul Potts is amazing, his singing is beautifully sensational, and as unexpected as if Simon Cowell were to give a coherent 10 minute speech, without using the word 'I', or putting someone down.
Alberto Gonzales.... Not exactly a credit to the Latino community now was he... And that's a honest to god real shame given the position he rose to, and the overall trainwreck that is legal immigration verses illegal entry to this country without proper authorization with most of the ire directed specifically towards Latinos whether that ire is deserved or not.... The Latino community definitely didn't need this clueless Bush alcolyte further trashing the community image and reputation...
Don't anyone mistake where I am coming from on this matter. I am in favor of legal immigration of any and all people who want to come to this country and start over regardless of heritage. I do believe whomever comes here needs to assimilate into this society, much as Theodore Roosevelt maintained nearly 100 years ago. I am fully against illigal border crossing and I dispise how the whole debate is being manipulated and obficated by those with private agendas. That said, I also feel I need to say (given the historonics around the issue) I have no ill will for the Latino community and have many friends of Latino heritage. It is for that very reason along with a belief in fair play and subscribing to the concepts of national soverignty that I am against the current influx of 'illigal immigrants' which is just the current phrase in vogue to discribe people entering America without going thru the proper immigration channels. I have zero sympathy for the American business community which is behind much of this sad chapter in America and even less sympathy for the tired excuse they like to use about 'jobs that native born Americans won't do'. That is merely a smoke screen for not paying fair wages for honest labor.... to anyone, native born or not.
It is because of this heated debate and growing problem with immigration with the focus on the Latino influx from south to north that I think it was a damned shame what Alberto Gonzales did in his capacity as Attorney General of the United States. He could have thru proper example been a boon to his community and possibly racheted down the now bordering on irrational mistrust in many towards Latino people in general.. Yes, he could have done much to bring levity to all this thru simply doing his job properly. But, instead, he was just another shill for the Bush Administration and the fallout is washing downhill onto the entire community in general... and THAT is the shame of it.... I do not know where this debate will end up but I do know Alberto Gonzales has not helped matters at all, and in fact, has hurt the cause of Latino immigration by his sorry example. I regret that for all Latinos who might wish to come here legally and become American citizens... JD

Here's another thought experiment.

My oh my,
Hillary Clinton CONTINUES to plant questions in debates...only this time she planted a questioner in the GOP youtube debate!! hahaha....what a loser! These democrats are apparently not learning anything! Is it any wonder she has such little support in the country and in the polls? Useless woman she is...no ideas...no vision...no hope...
http://www.townhall.com/blog/g/d91f3cba-6a87-4686-92ce-70a16edc311b
And if that isn't enough...Obama and Edwards are getting into the game as well...
http://www.townhall.com/blog/g/510e25b1-bd33-49de-8443-91f18fd3d5a8
I'm sorry, but if the dems have to resort to planting in the debates, and their paid buddies over at CNN don't bother to fact check the questioners, makes one realize how corrupt this crony corporatism has become in this country.

Seriously, if Hillary were elected, would this not violate the two term limit for Bill Clinton? He would be living in the WH after all, and would no doubt be an advisor to Hillary.
Is she wins, that would make it at least 2012 - 1988 = 24 years that either a Clinton or a Bush was in the WH. I never knew we were supposed to live in a monarchy.
Of course I agree with you that this country needs the Constitution again.
Hmmm...I wonder who is the only candidate who swears to uphold it if elected? Hmmm...
Craig gets around.
What's this about Huckleberry Hound beating Romney in Iowa?
Bush and Gonzo laugh at the corruption they have saddled America with. America has been raped and thrown on the sidewalk. America is owned by an ignorant few who have set themselves up and above for life they hope. The nature of our culture has been changed maybe forever. Global economics means the loss of tribe and only greed as the new global and national mantra. No good will come from the actions of BushCo.
A fact to ponder:
If we put a memorial cross, for each American service person killed or wounded in Iraq, on all US Freeways, there would be more than one cross per mile.
True, do the math.
Next time you drive on a freeway, think about that.
Taking a little 30-mile jaunt?
Or going on a 1000+ mile vacation?
The stories about Chavez.
Yeah.
Sorta like how Bush was actually elected president.

LWH @ 38:
Shit.
It looks Doonesbury just upped the ante and killed off Ray by an IED in Iraq.
If that's the case, then this SUUUUCCKKKKSSS.
And not in a good, but a very, very, very, bad way.
Shit.

Innovating Our Way to Financial Crisis
By PAUL KRUGMAN
The financial crisis that began late last summer, then took a brief vacation in September and October, is back with a vengeance.
CoIntelPro @ 63:
Most investors are betting on the latter, and bailing on the American market, and investing in pork bellies.
navyswan @ 62:

JD
