Countdown's Worst Persons: Gonzo, Hill & Hypocrite Lou Dobbs

Tonight's Worst Person in the World segment on Countdown saw Alberto Gonzales taking home the Bronze after having a college speaking engagement canceled after asking a modest $35,000 speaking fee even though precisely ZERO students expressed interest in hearing him speak. The Silver went to E.D. Hill of FOXNews for politicizing the recent hostage situation at a Hillary Clinton campaign office, but Keith Olbermann gives the Gold medal and absolutely lays waste to CNN's resident xenophobe, Lou Dobbs. Dobbs went ballistic on his show, attacking LA Times media critic, Tim Rutten, who criticized CNN for over emphasizing the immigration issue during their last YouTube debate -- but Mr. Dobbs has a problem. He has two daughters who are heavily involved in show jumping, an activity that is heavily dependent on undocumented workers. Basically, Lou threatens undocumented workers on his show, then pays them to clean up after his daughter's horses. Nice...
*Bonus footage - Keith's #2 story was on Sherri Shepard from The View, who is convinced that no religion predated Christianity. Yes, she really said that. Oh, and there's a little advert for Olbermann's new book, Truth and Consequences: Special Comments on the Bush Administration's War On American Values. You can pick up a copy here.

Frist! - whohoo
We have bugs in this region that try to fake you out and make you think they're a wasp, but they're only harmless muddobbers.
The View...which is the abbreviated name of what it should be called: The View from the Asylum.
Romney, Guliani and now Dobbs .... lol ... hypocrits
I guess Lou Dobbs is getting jealous of Glenn Beck hogging the "he's insane" spotlight, Sherri is showing the results of home schooling.
But at least when his daughters ask him what he did in the war on immigrants Mr. Dobbs won't have to say that he shoveled shit in Louisiana, or any where else.
I've been waiting for someone to hand that puffed up blow hard Dobbs his own ass and Keith is the perfect choice.Dobbs is a patented phony in every respect. He rails against corporate America in fine populist form while at the same time advising folks(in his money line "bidness" news letter guise)to invest in the same companies, that are shipping jobs over seas.
If you watch Dobbs for awhile it becomes painfully obvious what an intolerant, conceited over bearing tyrant he really is.
I honestly can't comprehend Shepard being that stupid. If she is a super Christian and believes in the Bible, then she has to believe in the Old Testament, right?
Holy (literally) Crap!
Did that idiot not even ever read the friggin' Bible, never mind actual history books?
There's a whole TESTAMENT devoted to a religion that came before Jesus.
And I love how defiantly ignorant these Christians are in their denials.
That woman on The View... It had to take quite a bit of effort to remain THAT ignorant well into her adult life. They ought to hire Dubya to co-host along with her after he leaves office.
Immigration may not rank at the top of the poles but there are many who love to use it as gotcha dividing point. The subject is very complicated so unless you have more than 5 minutes to talk about your stance you can sound like an open border advocate one second and a racists the next. Besides Lou there is Ed Shultz who when not demonstrating his hatred for Hillary Clinton talks about the southern border using many of the right wing talking points.
Was that woman home schooled? I remember watching that clip where she said she didn't know if the world was flat or round. It seriously pained me.
Man....KO makes my friggin' day!
kathotdog @ 8:
That's what I was wondering as well. I think she really, really, really needs to think long and hard before she allows things to come out of her mouth.
I'm not a big fan of Ed Shultz either.
I think his trip is an attempt to meet Limbaugh and Billo etc. on their "own ground" so to speak. You know-yelling,bloviating,spinning...
That's the same Sherri Shepard that wasn't sure whether or not the Earth was flat so it's no big surprise on that one.
Bawbwa....get some people who went beyond the fifth grade and I mean on the first try!
Had she not heard of Pagan and Sodom & Gommorah?
Geezus, if she can't read...they made learning for Dummies easy........with Movies.
How embarassing!
Hey what can you say...she's short. They're even the last to know it's raining.
The people in charge of the View ought to take pity on that Jesus lady, pay out her contract, and take her off the air. It's really just sad and embarrassing to watch an adult make such an idiot of themselves on national TV.
Shepard was brought up a Jehovah's Witness and has obviously led a very sheltered, intellectually barren life. She is what she is.What I don't get is,WTF was going on in Ba Ba Walters head when she hired her?The View is "supposed" to be stimulating conversation and opinion.Oh well.
kathotdog @ 8:
That was almost painful to watch. She probably believes Jesus predates the dinosaurs as well.
And as far as Lou Dobbs, it's no surprise he hates the low paid brown people that clean
the stalls for his daughter's horses, his hypocrisy is right up there with Tancredo who also
hates the low paid, over worked brown people that he had no problem hiring to do remodeling
work on his home. People like Dobbs and Tancredo are no different than the plantation masters
of two hundred years ago, they're too fucking lazy and elitist to do their own work but have
no problem getting the very people they hate and despise to do it for them and for practically
nothing!
I also think that comments like this shows how some people who call themselves "christians" know very little about the Bible and even less about history.
OT: OUTING A CIA AGENT IN TIME OF WAR IS TREASON AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Call Nancy Pelosi @1-202-225-0100 and DEMAND IMPEACHMENT.
We have a guy in the Canadian Conservative party in Canada who believes that men and dinosaurs coexisted. They have this need to make the Earth conform to the 6000 year old theory...
pinkobait @ 20:
I guess this is some nightmare version of fair and balanced. We now have to suffer idiots on panels so idiots in the audience aren't offended by no representation. I thought that was the point of fox news... a place where truth didn't matter and integrity was for chumps.
Who the fuck watches "The View" anyway? Seriously, I can't believe women watch that piece of shit program. My first exposure to that show happened while I was sitting in a doctor's office and they had it on tv. After ten minutes of listening to the freakish hosts shriek at each other I had to tell the receptionist to either turn it down or turn it off (ended up with the worst fucking headache I ever had in my life). Is Sheri Sheppard supposed to be the comic relief or something? I can't believe someone on a nationally broadcast program could actually be that stupid (well, actually, I can, but still, she's if it's not an act, she's pretty fucking dumb). As for Lou Dobbs, all I can say is it's always amusing when I hear a corporate bought and paid for talking head railing about "elitists". After all, he's a highly paid commentator on a major news network - you can't get more "elite" than that, can you?
Dobbs, this issue is much more complicated than "lets get the Mexicans". You, O'Reilly, Savage, Coulter, etc. are getting rich off racism and paranoia. You great Americans are helping further divide the country for your personal profit. I can only imagine what your position would have been on slavery, womens voting rights.....
razanT @ 18:
Are you suggesting, sir, that short people got no reason -- no reason -- to live?
Shame on you!
moondancer @ 25:
They want a "Conservative" point of view to (as you say) add some balance to the mix,but I think given the evidence, that an argument could be made that "The View" is purposely making the right wing look bad! LOL! It really is pathetic. It also really is head ache inducing as someone else commented:they all talk at the same GD time.
Correction: that should read "..but still, if it's not an act, she's pretty fucking dumb". Must edit before posting. NEED MORE COFFEE.
LOU DOBBS IS NOT RACIST against hispanics. HIS WIFE IS HISPANIC.
Just to let you know.
Yep, Lou Dobbs was at one time(cannot give exact time-table, but about 2 years ago)
a seemingly reasonable journalist, but since Immigration and illegal immigrant became
a hot topic(along w/Free Trade) he has been scrapped/eliminated from my viewing
inasmuch as his rantings/ravings are unbearable/intolerable. He should consider
moving over to Faux Noise and become one of their kind....right before or after
O'Liely.
Homey Simpson @ 28:
We don't want no short people 'round here...
I honestly can’t comprehend Shepard being that stupid. If she is a super Christian and believes in the Bible, then she has to believe in the Old Testament, right?
No, she really is effing stupid.
Is the world round? I have to think about that.
Mr. Blade @ 31:
Maybe he caught his wife banging the lawn guy. That would go a long way to explaining his obsession with illegal immigrants.
Dobbs appears to adhere to the eternal NeoCon mantra... "Do as I say not as I do!" He now joins a long line of distinguished hypocrits including Larry Craig, Ted Haggard, Newt Gingrich, and Karl Rove (just to name a few). Welcome Sir. Dobbs to the Knighthood of the Hypocritical!
Mr. Blade @ 31:
Right-like the guys with mail order brides are full of love and understanding for the human race. You are kidding right?
Dana @ 21:
No she probably believes that Jesus lived WITH the dinosaurs just like early man. She learned that at the Creation Museum!
Just remember... someone THIS stupid is now making so much more money than most reasonably intelligent people. Makes you cry doesn't it?
Mr. Blade @ 31:
You may be right...Maybe Lou is just a BIGOT !!!
Mr. Blade @ 31:
Yeah and Hitler had a Jewish grandmother, but that didn't make a difference did it?
TimV @ 38:
pinkobait @ 29:
She obviously never heard about Hinduism (is that a word?) and Buddhism.
Doggiebobo @ 39:
You don't have to a "virulent" racist to still be a xenophobic bigot right?
I have started to watch Dobbs over Matthews. He doesn't just rant over the Illegals, he rants about exporting jobs to 3rd world slavery and Illegal employers. He is not all bad.
TimV @ 38:
I understand Sherri Sheppard just signed a deal to do a "View" exclusive interview with the GIECO cavedudes. You see, she wanted to get some insight into evolution from people who actually lived through it.
moondancer @ 25:
Ha! Shepard is The View's version of Alan Combs!
I love KO, but I don't think the activities of Lou Dobbs' daughters are fair game. However, if Dobbs wanted to prove that he walks the walks as well as talking the talk, he could removed his daughters from the sport. Won't happen, but there will be fireworks now aimed at KO, and Dobbs will be looking for dirt on him. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
gene214 @ 45:
LMAO....thanks for the belly laugh..
Blade@31 Who are you, Lou's mother? Just because you like Latino "booty" doesn't mean you like Mexicans. Remember the slave masters?
Thinking Person @ 47:
Okay... I gotta point out that the Right Wing has been violating that mantra for YEARS now with all the stones they've been throwing. All KO is doing is throwing them back. So I guess that makes him the second, sinful stone thrower?
"LOU DOBBS IS NOT RACIST against hispanics. HIS WIFE IS HISPANIC.
Just to let you know."
I once had a housemate who hated Jews. A Jewish friend of mine came over to visit and this guy couldn't keep the look of disgust off his face, and racist comments weren't uncommon. So who did the housemate end up dating for a year? My girlfriend's Jewish friend. Bigots are screwed up, so don't expect consistency.
Thinking Person @ 47:
So, not only is Lou a ranting maniac, but when facts are presented, he is revengeful also???
Doggiebobo @ 48:
You laugh, but (sadly) I wouldn't be surprised if she really thought that.
Ron @ 44:
Thats an easy trap tp fall into.
Dobbs tells people to invest in the same companies that export jobs out of the country.
He also has inlaws that are Mexican Immigrants...

Lou Dobbs: Horseshit
With the possible exception of farms that rely on migrant workers, there probably is no activity in these United States so dependent on the work of immigrants, illegal and otherwise,as the one to which the family of Lou Dobbs is devoted. Although I'm sure Dobbs himself employs no illegals directly, he has no problem spending lots and lots of money on businesses that do.
Lou Dobbs married his high school sweetheart, had two kids, and became quite a big shot at CNN. At that time CNN employed a Mexican-American, a daughter of immigrants, named Debi Segura. Dobbs and his first wife divorced; he married Segura, and they had twin girls. By all accounts they are very accomplished young women. Both Hillary and Heather Dobbs earned admission to Harvard, and they both excel at the rarefied sport of "equitation" or show jumping.
You have to have access to a lot of money to compete in this sport. Equiworld Magazine comments on a 2004 behind the scenes book about the sport by noted equestrienne, Vicky Moon:
Children of celebrities, illegal immigrant workers, large corporation heirs, and members of royalty, all meet in one place - Wellington's Winter Equestrian Festival, the beginning of the Grand Prix Show Jumping Circuit Season.
In the book itself, Ms Moon writes of the broad spectrum of nations represented:
This melting pot of international equine aficionados does not include the countless numbers of illegal Spanish-speaking immigrants who shovel the forty tons of poop a day.
Two of those "children of celebrities" mingling with the "Illegal immigration workers" are Heather and Hillary Dobbs. And it's not just the kids:
Celebrities descend upon the horse world of Wellington from January through April - from parents like Bruce Springsteen, Glenn Close, John Cleese, and Lou Dobbs, who are ringside whenever their children compete.
It costs a fortune to participate in the "Circuit." Starting each winter in Florida, the circuit moves on to make stops in the spring along the "Main Line" of Philadelphia, at Devon, as well as at Saratoga Springs in New York. Midsummer, the "circuit" is in East Dorset, Vermont, and then comes to New York's famed "Hamptons" at the end of August, with additional stops in between.
In this sport, spending $100,000 on a horse is not at all unusual - prices often are in the half million dollar range. In Florida this past January, the Dobbs' daughters' talked of their horses:
Heather: I own two horses, Cobretti and Corlett. I've had Cobe longer, and I can't help but have a stronger bond with him, but Corlett is so sweet and I love her just as much! They both try so hard for me. I also leased two equitation horses this year, Raven and Gulliver.
Hillary: Not including the many horses lounging at our farm in New Jersey, I own three horses with whom I compete.
Most participants keep the horses they ride in competition at their "stable,' so these seven horses are probably boarded for a good part of the year at the stable of the twin's trainer, the legendary Missy Clark, in Warren, Vermont. The stable organizes the transport of the horses, as well as excercise and grooming. At each stop on the circuit, the stable establishes its own "barn", sometimes huge tents that house the horses during the event. The length of the event varies - the stop in Vermont is one of the longest, at close to four weeks.
It's a sport that places a great deal of emphasis on appearance. The rider wears a virtual uniform. The horse's mane is braided and its coat clipped to look its best. Some horses have tails that are considered a bit skimpy, and so a "fall" of fake hair, carefully dyed to match the original, must be interwoven with the horse's real hair to get a fuller look. Naturally, the stables charge for these services - one charges "$125 and up for Show Body Clipping, $20 for Mane Pulling" etc etc The rider's boots are often $500 or more, with saddles in a range of $2000 to $3500. While on the circuit the cost of grooms, horse stall mucker's etc and their food and housing expenses are paid for by the stable. This cost is then split between the owners of the horses participating in the event.
Luckily the "populist" Lou Dobbs is a rich man. The bills that he pays to Missy Clark's stable must be enormous. There are lots of additional costs, like entry fees to compete in a show, travel expenses, etc. (Not to mention legal fees: Once, Mrs. Dobbs was arrested for trying to carry a firearm aboard a flight from Newark Airport to watch her daughters compete.) The farm in New Jersey that his daughter Hillary referred to is over 300 acres, and has a house for his Mexican Immigrant In-Laws. These kinds of costs can put a dent into a guy's income, even if the guy is Lou Dobbs, earning $6 million plus a year.
The vast majority of those who muck out the stalls, tack the horses, clean up the shit in the show ring, set up the fences - the grooms, are Mexican immigrants. The fact that many of them are illegal is common knowledge among those involved in the sport. Most speak only a very limited English. An illegal immigrant, without home or family in the States, finds it easier to be a kind of migrant worker traveling the circuit. Many of the meals and hotel stays that Lou Dobbs would get charged for on his monthly bill from Missy Clark's stable are for immigrants. Part of the approximately $1500 per month per horse for basic boarding goes to pay the salaries of these immigrants.
Lou and his wife Debi have often watched their daughters compete at the Hamptons Classic, which is at the end of August on Long Island. Each year there's one special day, called "Fiesta Day." It's sponsored by Hoy, the second largest Spanish daily in the U.S. Capping Fiesta Day in 2003 was the groom's competition, an event where grooms "completed two phases of competition, the grooming phase and the riding phase, where they showed their skills at the walk, trot and canter." The Press release , which declared that the winner was "Mexico's Memo Gonzalez," also noted that "Gonzalez has worked for Missy Clark of North Run located in Warren,VT for the past two years."
The New Republic has said that
Dobbs is downright obsessive about the issue, and he isn't above nativist scare-mongering--calling Mexican illegal immigrants an "army of invaders" who are bringing leprosy and malaria across the Rio Grande.
To be fair, Dobbs has clarified and essentially retracted the leprosy accusation; but he remains an obsessive, scare-mongering nativist, fearful of an invasion: Until, of course one of his daughters' horses needs a rub down.
Ehh, guess that pretty much ends the Lou Dobbs, exploration of some presidential run... I thought that was an odd idea when I read it here a week or two ago... Interesting... But odd at the same time.. But, I gotta fess up I'm a bit torn on this worst person thing... I really kinda liked them both for different reasons, and so far, still like K.O. Gotta reevaluate on Dobbs now...Clearly not quite the populist one might get at first blush upon seeing him on T.V.
O.K., before anyone decides to go ballistic on me, I'm saying right up front that I know Dobbs goes over the top on many things, and this business with his daughters and that economic advice thing he's involved in will make me think and see him with new eyes.. That said, this immigration issue is real, it's fucked up, it is a danger to all caught up in it as well as the security and the sovereignty of this nation as the issue currently exists. And noone is doing anything real to address it...Not the politicians, not the business community, not even to any great degree the immigration community whom are legally here or legally waiting in line to get in.
These are the folks, whom to me, really seems have the most to fight for about it. After all, they are ones being punked out by having others illegally jump the line on them. Instead, just a bunch of back and forth finger pointing by a variety of 'interest' groups working their own private agendas..., and crying about people taking the law into their own hands over it in the southwest.. I frankly don't like that vigillante shit either, but I understand given the nature of the situation and the nod and wink bullshit coming out of the Bush administration on it, why it is happening.. It's all bad juju people... All of it....
Dobbs for all his historonics and dispite the hypocrisy that seems apparent given these other details abut his daughters and their little horse hobby, was at least making sure the problem wasn't going to get completely swept under the rug which I'm absolutely certain many in the corporate/business community as well as the underground slavery industry as well as many in the Bush administration would like nothing better than... But yea, my personal rants about immigration doesn't really excuse Dobbs for apparently being a horse ass overall more or less....
That view chick??? Criminy, the clip pretty much speaks for itself... And not saying anything too intelligent... Maybe that girl is in over her head, and that's really pathetic since that show itself is pretty creampuffy.... I guess some people like it, but for my money, it's never gonna be mistaken for any kind of serious investigative journalism or even 60 minutes as that show currently exists... I always took 'The View' as a smoothed out 'g' rated Springer type schlocky show..Whatever, in her defense I guess one could say she ain't the only one to ever appear and stick her foot in her mouth on that show...
As for Gonzales.... I like it, the amoral fuck asks for a ridiculous speaking fee and generates zero interest from the student body... Now that's funny.. and poetic justice too... I do wonder who thought it was a good idea to ask him to come on by in the first place... Or maybe it was Big Al trolling around himself for a speaking opportunity that got the ball rolling and D.O.A.... I got a short tip for Gonzales... After what you did mister??? I'm figurin, noone wants to hear what you have to say about anything asshole.. Maybe you should get in touch with OJ, and you two can get together on some golf course and cry on each others shoulder and have a little pitty party.......Maybe people will pay to see that.....JD
TimV @ 38:
I had to go vent about Sherri Shepard so I blooged http://orestia.blogspot.com/2007/12/i-had-been-struggling-for-title-for.html
Jesus's secret other identity was Fred Flintstone.
Your new Ms. Teen South Carolina: Sherri Sheppard!!!!
ok...
HERE IS THE PLAN...
every single gay guy fill out a pre-nup and marry an illegal mexican woman
every single gay girl fill out a pre-nup and marry an illegal mexican man
PISS OFF THE REPUBLICANS!!!!
Thought they said they were for marriage?
really want to piss them off...... after the ceremony get that sex change you have always wanted... BECOME a same sex couple....
OKAY enough fun... (but for the occasional GOPer who reads this blog... scared you huh?)
Biggus Diggus @ 19:
I think the View should pay for Sherri to have a few courses at an NYC univerity or community college ... they can run updates on "The education of Sherri"
Really, it would be the kindest thing for them to do.
I'm thinking gonzales (he doesn't deserve capitalization) has earned lifetime membership. Maybe Olbermann should start "The Worst Person In the World (not counting Bill O'Reilly, Alberto Gonzalez, Bill Donahue, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, and KKKarl Rove).
By the way, the attack on Dobbs was surprisingly harsh. Does he not like him as a person? Is he trying to initiate a "flame war" with CNN like he's got going with O'Reilly? I think he could have eviscerated Dobbs on the issues without going after the guy's family. I mean just stick to those polls and ask him about how much damn time he spends on immigration.
Mark Mywords @ 61:
Here's the flaw in your plan . . . for the past 20 or so years a foreign national marrying an American doesn't automatically give them citizenship or allow them to stay here. There is a process and several interviews over a period of time before the forgeign national (whether they become a US citizen or not, get's a green card) ... and if you think ICE hasn't dealt with a scam or two before . . . . .
Some might ask her if Jesus was a Christian...
Much as I love Olbermann, I don't think this criticism of Lou Dobbs was very fair. I suspect alot of us pay illegal immigrants wages indirectly.
Lou doesn't want Mexican blood tainting his family tree so he scares his viewers with leprosy stories. Sick eugenicist bastard. F the company that just gave this whites only drinking fountainist a syndicated radio show.
Countdown should reserve a fourth spot, 'Worstest of the Worst' permanently dedicated, for eternity, including post mortem, for The Dummy, AKA 'Zionist Pawn', G.W. Assh*le, and, by his father, 'OMG, What Have I Wrought?'
Cat Atomic @ 66:
True, but most of us don't screech about the horrors of "illegal aliens" on CNN.
Lynn @ 55:
Thanks for this.
Dobbs is well heeled American plutocrat masquerading as a common man.
Dizzzzzzzz gusting.
I’m waiting for the Great and Powerful Lou to have a stroke right there on live TV one night. If you observe him while he’s talking about illegal aliens, veins start popping, his voice rises and he starts swaying in his chair. (Like Rush making fun of Michael.) If you recall, the YouTube Republican debate began on this very same subject, the other night. Mitt, who’s cleaning service at his State Mansion employed illegal aliens, tells us that it is impossible for a rich white man to keep track of every single person that is beneath him. (see Lou Dobbs) For some unknown reason Rudy disagrees. This is from the mouth of the person who hired Bernard Kerik, mind you. And, to this very day, Republicans believe they have value and credibility. Pfft.
Speaking of dinosaurs. Religion is a very fluid thing. It hasn’t been all that long ago when Jesus Freaks believed that dinosaur fossils were put there by satan to fool us ignorant men into believing that the earth is more than 6000 years old. Today we have Adam and Eve show jumping with dinosaurs in the Creation Museum. They are now working feverishly to explain how did God fit those huge dinosaurs on that ittty bitty ark. Stay tuned for the explanation, which will most likely go something like this, ‘they were ittty bitty baby dinosaurs’. Doh!!!!
Kid Dynomite @ 14:
Where did the producers of The View find that idiotic woman?
Lou Dobbs is a lying sack of shit. He is different then John Gibson only in degree. Same can be said for Blitzer. It figures that whatever a damn republican is complaining about is what he is guilty of.
Could not figure out what the heck "show jumping" meant. Took a while but finally got enough context to understand the phrase. Good for you white folk who do not need to put "horse" in there. Thought it was some really weird white person's sex orgy thing.
From white guy in La Jolla, Ca.
May everyone of The View get a massive yeast infection.
And Babwa, you're overdue for your Alzheimer's appointment.
"It’s really just sad and embarrassing to watch an adult make such an idiot of themselves on national TV."
Ummm ... you just defined television ...
Thats right, lets just open to the border, let em all come here, I'll pay for it, and my Spanish classes to!
Shepherd's stupidity is a perfect backdrop for George W. Bush's equally astounding cluelessness.
Just as when Whoopi and Joy Behar try to correct Shepherd to be met with, "I don't think anything predates Christ," Bush takes the NIE and maintains that Iran is/will be still a danger.
gene214 @ 45:
Maybe we can get her to reprise Mongo from Blazing Saddles---"Mongo only pawn in game of life."
Lou Dobbs was on Democracy Now! yesterday and he would barely allow either Amy Goodman or Juan Gonzalez to speak. He came across as incredibly arrogant and self-serving and could not seem to believe that Ms. Goodman and Mr. Gonzalez had the temerity to actually challenge his assertions. It was as if Dobbs was trying to demonstrate that he was a bigger demagogue than Bill O'Reilly and/or Rush Limbaugh. Fortunately, Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez did not allow themselves to be intimidated by Dobbs and his implication that illegal immigration is an issue bigger than the occupation of Iraq and health care and education in this country.
Dobbs is my hero on bringing the issue and impacts of illegal immigration to the attention of the American public... This "award" doesn't change the fact that Dobbs is the foremost media leader in keeping the illegal immigration front-and-center on the American political landscape... I shutter to think where we'd be when the Senate approved their recent attempt at, so called, comprehensive immigration reform... It had many provisions that were harmful to American security, American jobs, American wages, and American benefits. Had it not been for Dobb (basically operating alone) we'd be in a world of hurt... Just because a lot of time has passed, let's not forget how onerous the Senate's past efforts at immigration reform were and to give thanks for the efforts of Dobbs for keeping that issue in front of us while it was being debated and voted on. Here are some memory joggers for those of you who need a refresher:
Issue #1: Illegal aliens with felonies or three or more misdemeanors will not be barred from receiving amnesty under the Immigration and Nationality Act that will be debated soon by the Senate. Different crimes make different aliens inadmissible and deportable or ineligible for benefits. As written in this bill, on page 347, it only requires an alien to show they are not inadmissible to qualify for the amnesty. However, some felonies make an alien inadmissible under the act and others do not.
Additionally, the bill allows aliens who have persecuted on the basis of race, religion, national membership in a particular social group, or political opinion to get amnesty. It fails to make persecutors ineligible for amnesty.
Issue #2: Aliens previously barred from receiving immigration benefits because they filed frivolous asylum applications will be able to receive amnesty under the bill being considered. Congress should change this legislation to bar amnesty applicants who have committed immigration fraud in the past from receiving amnesty and/or citizenship.
Issue #3: All aliens who are subject to a final order of removal who fail to leave pursuant to a voluntary departure agreement, or who are subject to the reinstatement of a final order of removal because they illegally reentered after being once removed from the United States are eligible for amnesty under the legislation. Pages 358 to 359 of the bill clearly state that certain grounds of inadmissibility in the act will not apply to aliens who apply for amnesty under the bill. The inadmissibility provisions that are waived in the draft legislation include final orders of removal for document fraud. Americans knowingly filing false claims to the Government commit a felony. Yet you appear poised to overlook this indiscretion, something that is not done for a US citizen, for an illegal immigrant! We should not be granting citizenship to felons.
Issue #4: Title 8, Section 1325, of the United States Code says that illegal entry into the United States is a misdemeanor the first time and a felony thereafter. Aliens who have illegally entered multiple times—that is, chargeable with felonies—are eligible for amnesty under the legislation. The bill, on pages 12–23, requires that the illegal alien be continuously present in the United States since 2001 to qualify for amnesty. However, the bill allows the alien to have left the United States for ‘‘brief, casual, and innocent departures.’’ I don’t think multiple illegal felonies are casual, brief, or innocent. The draft legislation actually rewards those who have habitually committed felonies under the laws of our country.
Issue #5: We Americans have been told that illegal immigrants have to earn their citizenship, earn their amnesty by working. But there is no real requirement for that in the legislation. To be eligible to transition from illegal to legal status under the bill, the alien must simply have been ‘‘physically present in the United States on or before the date that is 5 years before April 5, 2006,’’ and have been employed ‘‘in the aggregate’’ for ‘‘at least 3 years during the 5-year period ending on April 5, 2006,’’ and employed for ‘‘at least 6 years after the date of enactment’’ of this bill. But it does not say (on pages 346, 347) that the alien must be employed continuously or that the requirement of employment be full-time employment.
The employment requirement under the language as written is as broad as possible, too broad in fact. Essentially, any alien who worked in the United States for 3 out of 5 years at any time prior to April 5, 2006, will fulfill these requirements. This is not the rigorous standard you should be accepting. It is designed to let everyone qualify. It is so broad that if the Immigration Service were to try to go to court and challenge it, almost any alien would be able to meet and defeat the challenge due to this absence of any real verifiable standard.
Issue #6: The bill tells the Department of Homeland Security to accept ‘‘just and reasonable inferences’’ from day labor centers and the alien’s ‘‘sworn declaration’’ as evidence that the alien has met the amnesty’s work requirement. Under the bill, the alien would meet the ‘‘burden of proving by a preponderance of the evidence’’—that is all the burden is, a preponderance of the evidence—‘‘that he/she has satisfied the work requirements’’ if the alien can demonstrate employment ‘‘as a matter of just and reasonable inference.’’ An alien can present ‘‘conclusive evidence’’ of employment in the United States by presenting documents from Social Security, the Internal Revenue Service, employers, or a ‘‘union or day labor center.’’ The bill then states: It is the intent of Congress that the work requirement . . . Be interpreted and implemented in a manner that recognizes and takes into account the difficulties encountered by aliens in obtaining evidence of employment due to the undocumented status of the alien. What does that mean? I suspect the wishy-washy language here will make this requirement totally unenforceable.
The bill then goes on to say that even if these lax standards cannot be met, it allows them to self-submit affidavits, ‘‘sworn declarations for each period of employment.’’ Really!? A habitual lawbreaking illegal immigrant can attest to their truthfulness regarding their eligibility status. By approving this language Congress will essentially be telling the Department of Homeland Security and the Immigration Service to take the illegal aliens’ word for it, to accept pretty much anything as proof of work. These provisions are contained on pages 349 and 350. So it is not true that this is a bill that requires earned amnesty by work. It does a miserable job of verifying that critical element of the amnesty application.
Issue #7: This concerns the “Guest Worker Program”. This aspect of the legislation is being touted as a program that would allow immigrants to enter this country to perform work “Americans will not do“. Unfortunately, that is not the true result of this aspect of the legislation. It appears that the legislation was designed to serve as the net to capture and retain all of the illegal immigrants who do not qualify under the generous amnesty provisions of the bill.
As the bill indicates those in this country illegally for less than 2 years will be expected to leave. However, under the bill, an alien can qualify for the new H–2C program to work as a low-skilled, permanent immigrant even if you are unlawfully present in the United States today. The bill specifically says: In determining the alien’s admissibility as an H–2C nonimmigrant . . . paragraphs (5), (6)(A), 7, (9)(B), and (9)(C) of section 212(a) may be waived for conduct that occurred before the effective date. . . .
It appears that by waiving these grounds of inadmissibility under the legislation, the new H–2C program will grant legal recognition to those illegals who were apprehended and ordered to leave the country or come to court and did neither, commonly referred to as absconders. There are roughly 400,000 of these absconders roaming the cities and towns of our country at this moment. The provision of the H-2C program also applies to illegal aliens who were in removal proceedings and signed a voluntary departure agreement but violated that agreement and did not leave. Additionally, the bill will also grants Guest Worker status to illegal aliens who were already removed from the United States but who illegally reentered. Basically, with this provision the bill allows just about every category of illegal alien to remain in this country legally. Perhaps you should re-title the legislation to be the No Illegal Alien Left Behind Act! Basically, no illegal alien will have to go home if they fall short of the 2-year minimum illegal occupancy pre-requisite, they simply move into the H-2C program to gain the status of a low-skilled permanent immigrant!
Issue #8: The annual numerical cap of the “Guest Worker Program” has no basis. The bill’s sponsors say that the new H–2C guest worker program is limited to 325,000 people and their families per year. However, the cap has a built-in automatic escalator. If the 325,000 limit per year—the cap on the number who can come here legally—is reached, the cap automatically adjusts itself to make more room, by adding an additional 20 percent, which is 65,000 more visas the first year. So if somewhere in the year the cap limits are being met by people who want to come here, that very year the cap goes up by 20 percent. And then, the next year, automatically the cap will not be 325,000, it will be that number increased by 20-percent. And if that cap number is met, it goes up that year 20 percent. And the next year, that additional 20-percent increase will be the cap. It is an utterly escalating cap, without any thought whatsoever as to how many people this country needs in our workplace or the impacts such an influx will have on the legal American worker‘s wages, the American job market or the social service programs that may be called upon to assist these unskilled immigrants and their families.
One Senator calculated the number resulting from this ever-increasing influx of immigrant: In 10 years the number of immigrants resulting from this single immigration legislation would be 2,012,300. And these increases would continue unabated because they are automatic. No regard for need, no escape clause in case of an economic downturn. That is an automatic provision in the act.
In 10 years, we will have immigrated 3,250,000 low-skilled workers and their families. Each and every one of these 3+ million people who would enter under this provision alone will be eligible for green cards. And they can obtain that green card the first year if their employer requests it. As you undoubtedly understand a green card means you are a permanent resident. After 4 years, if their employer doesn’t make the request or they don’t have an employer, they can self petition for a green card. I thought immigrants were suppose to be workers, yet this legislation allows them to petition for a green card even though they are not employed simply by self-petitioning.
Issue #9: Under the AgJOBS component of this bill, illegal alien agricultural workers who worked 150 workdays in agriculture over the last 2 years will receive a blue card allowing them to live and work permanently in the United States. Blue cards are a new category of cards given to aliens under this legislation. However, because current law defines an agricultural workday as 1 hour of work per day (See page 397) an alien who has worked for as little as 150 hours in agriculture over the last 2 years will qualify for a blue card. THAT’S 150 HOURS IN A 2 YEAR PERIOD! This is a shockingly low standard. For once I agree with the President -- A job paying salary on 150 hours over a 2 year period is “a job Americans won’t do” and it shouldn’t be the standard against which we determine eligibility to legally live in this country and the first step on the path to permanent citizenship.
It is also important to not that under the AgJOBS provisions, a blue card never expires. And the holder can then use this card to pursue a green card, the ticket to permanent citizenship, by working more hours in agriculture, but surprisingly working in agriculture is not a requirement to remain in this country. This means that a blue card holder can simply abandon the agriculture work that was the basis of granting the blue card and legally pursue any job they want. The intent and effect of this provision of the legislation does not appear consistent with the stated objective of recruiting workers who will “do the jobs Americans won’t do”. Instead, the effect appears to place immigrant workers who will accept less in wages and less in working conditions in direct competition with American workers. Is this what Congress and the President mean by global competition? This is a deeply disturbing provision of the legislation.
Also, I can find no evidence where Congress has considered the economic implications of the drain that will likely result on local and federal social service coffers as these millions of illegals turn legal and, under the provisions of our immigration laws, will be allowed to bring their aged and perhaps ill relatives to this country as legal citizens. Where and when will those discussions transpire?
Another concern I have regarding the AgJOBS provisions of the legislation concerns the provision of providing free legal counsel to illegals seeking amnesty (page 421)! So, not only does AgJOBS give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, it proposes to saddle the American taxpayer will legal costs associated with amnesty applications. This is an outrageous provision and it needs to be eliminated.
Issue #10. This concerns the DREAM Act. The bill makes in-State tuition and other higher education benefits available to illegal aliens. As you are aware, current law says: An alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any post-education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident. The DREAM Act portion of this bill, page 503 through 520, eliminates this provision and will allows a benefit to those who came here illegally, even when all United States citizens are not afforded those same privileges. The bill goes further by making other types of higher education assistance available to the illegal aliens that receive amnesty under the bill - student loans, Federal work study programs and Federal services to access this assistance.
Erroll @ 80:
Remember this is the same person that said essentially, "If we say it, then it's right" implying apparently that whatever he utters is the absolute, unchallengeable truth. Dobbs is an arrogant, paranoid bully that seriously degrades and compromises our national dialogue.
Dobbs is full of Argumentum ad Verecundiam and Ipse Dixit
And bovine excreta.
Dobbs makes Blitzer look credible.
I think this is a bit weak. While I think that Lou Dobbs is arrogant, his main argument is that too much illegal immigration is bad for the country. Being for curbing illegal immigration isn't being against immigration, and is hardly being racist (although of course some racist and anti-immigration people speak the loudest against illegal immigration-it doesn't make the positions wrong). It is hard to run a country and create policy and laws if you can't account for people living in the country. Ultimately the Mexican government and the US government should work to make life in Mexico better for Mexicans. This is something Dobbs has argued.
And yes his wife is Mexican and it is hard to exist in America without living off the work off undocumented workers. So the fact that his kids show jump hardly makes him a hypocrite. Maybe I'm wrong--does anybody have a quote of him saying something racist?
He was just on Democracy Now and, as much as I like their reporting, Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzales came off looking pretty pathetic. They just nitpicked on some slip ups (one or 2 big ones, granted) that Dobbs has made on his show, and failed to address the actual arguments related to the effectiveness or lack thereof of methods for controlling illegal immigration. They just kept playing the guilt by association card without relating to the big issue at hand. True, it is important to criticize the MSM when they get their facts wrong, but too often Amy Goodman just reads off her sheet of "gotchas" when interviewing someone from the MSM then demands they apologize. She doesn't argue positions very well.
HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAA- That was one of the best Olbermann clips I have seen in a while.
Lou Dobbs spent an hour with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez on Democracy Now! yesterday and came off sounding like a pompous hypocrite. Democracy Now! has really been coming on strong lately. Send them some love. ($$$)
You tards, don't make yourself look like idiots. At least pretend to be as smart as you think you are.
Christianity traces it roots back through the OT to "creation."
Educated_Progessive @ 87:
So the Jews were Christians? Neat!

I am afraid that you did not defend Dobb's position very well either. The point that Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez tried to bring out yesterday was that Lou Dobbs is doing the same thing that the Bush administration is doing and that is playing upon the fears of the people. What you conveniently did not bring up is what Olbermann mentioned and that is that neither the Democrats nor even the Republicans presidential candidates believe, with much justification, that illegal immigration is among the top five issues that are of top concern in this country.
Senator Joseph McCarthy injected fear and hysteria in the late 1940s and the early 1950s in this country by claiming, without a shred of evidence, that the communists had infiltrated the government. Dobbs, in a similar fashion, like an O'Reilly or a Limbaugh, is trying to inject paranoia and hatred in this country by claiming that illegal immigration is somehow a threat to the United States, an even bigger issue than the occupation of Iraq and education and infrastructure and health care in this country. For Dobbs to strongly imply that is simply hogwash and is an example of fear mongering at its finest. Half of all illegal immigrants are in this country because their visas have expired. Do you suggest that the police or the people at the Nazi-like term Homeland Security break into these people's homes and arrest them? Perhaps these people should be flown on a plane and exported to another country like Egypt where they can be tortured for their egregious crime? Illegal immigration is a concern but not the burning issue that the demagogue Dobbs is making it out to be.
Thanks a lot to Lynn@55 for reprinting my post on Dobbs, and I have to say Bertrand Russell@ 74 is right in complaining that I did not make it clearer by using "horse." Sorry about that.
And to Cat Atomic@66 and PopASmurf@85, please understand that in this sport it is not so indirect. A show lasts all day for several days; and a rider will usually be in a few different events. A lot of time is spent watching other riders, and parents will typically go over to the huge tents that serve as temporary barns to chat with their kids, say hi to the horses. Many parents hang out with the kids while they mount upse, and talk with them as they wait their turn. in the ring. The groom holding the reins, the one who puts the final touch on brushing the horse (and the rider) is generally illegal. They're standing a few feet from each other - and probably Mrs. Dobbs will be talking to some of the grooms, in Spanish. Probably the Dobbs girls are fluent in Spanish, but lots of the riders aren't and manyof them mangle the language pretty bad.
The grooms build up relationships with the riders, relationships which are often far closer than say between a landscaper and a homeowner.
Thanks
I in no way mean to imply that Lou Dobbs is not a hypocrite, but a blanket condemnation of show jumping as a sport is way out of line. Every sport has a hierarchy, with low-level and inexpensive local events going up the chain to the professionals, and show jumping is the same. There are way more people of modest means who live out in the country and sacrifice to be able to afford their horse habit by shoveling their own manure then there are super rich who own $100,000 horses.
So, yes, show jumping has an upper level professional circuit with large purses, and an open adult amateur division that is largely populated with rich people, but so do many other sports such as car racing. There is also the lower level circuit populated by everything from people living in a double-wide to your average middle class.

Does anybody else know anything about this E.D. Hill? She used to be Edie Tarbox and was a VJ on VH-1 back in the day. Then she married billionaire Sandy Weill's son and has a few kids from a couple of marriages. I think she's on husband number 3. I guess all it takes is a bunch of divorces to be on FOX as an expert on everything having to do with those evil Democrats.
Dobbs at one time made some sense. At this point, his anger has transformed him into a foaming, irrational idiot. He does the issue of immigration a disservice by going into his diatribes because it really isn't about the issue it's all about him.
cetylovx @ 97:
No...not Lou....say it isn't so!!
Yeah, I've kind of noticed the same thing. Lately he's been sounding a little wacked.
pinkobait @ 7:
Your so right on. Stopped watching him over a year ago. He's a brain-washer.
His whole show is about getting people to stop thinking about real issues.
Another stunt from CNN.
What I don't get about Ms. Sheppard's bizarre comments is that it even shows a profound lack of understanding in Biblical teachings - does she honestly think Moses or Abraham were Christians?
Dobbs saw how much the other pompous windbag (O'Reilly) was making, and figured he could cash in himself. What a fscking doornob, accusing the LA times media critic of being a media elitist. Feeling intimidated Mr Dobbs. Yet Another Pompous Windbag, railing for the benefit of racist republican seniors.
"O'Reilly is completely off base on this issue. I only use fully documented horseshit cleaners" -Lou Dobbs
Does anybody else know anything about this E.D. Hill? She used to be Edie Tarbox ...
There's a joke in the there somewhere, I just know it!
EVer since the last Goyim (Turner )to own CNN , the station has been going down hill , for me starting with that damn Banner and logo on the screen , they started . Then their pro- Israel bias crept in , to the point if the IDF kills 10 people , it's not reported or reduced to a fast moving banner . But if Hamas attacks Fawta , Ive seen reporters hammering one side , " why can't you stop the violence" . Yet to CNN cutting off electricity to Gaza , is not a violent act nor even a story worth reporting .
Maybe they need the time for William Cohen ( Council of Foreign Relations ) who's on regularly , giving his opinion UNCHALLENGED .
Now you can see John King emphasizing the importance of " illegal immigrants " in Iowa , trying to justify why they keep bringing it up in debates and Dobbs, the one trick pony and is this real journalism the British CNN reporter asserting on Wolf Blitzer's "Speculation Room " that if U.S. troops pull out , there would be chaos and more blood shed " so the occupation should last for HOW LONG, mr. inserting your OPINION and then his clipped is used to challenge Gov. Richardson . Is this crap unbelievable or what , a fkn reporters comments that coincidently (haha)supports the occupation , debating a candidate for pres. Unfortunate for WARE , he knows damn well the MAJORITY of people in Iraq want a FULL withdrawal , FULL WITHDRAWAL from their country . They don't want to be occupied by the united states or anybody .
The shameless dishonesty is they act as if they have nothing to do with promoting the "illegal alien " issue , and when Dobbs started beating this issue to death years ago , riding the issue to books ,speaking engagements and ratings ..wow , if your in Iowa and all you do is watch CNN infotainment or Dobbs making money and pushing his agenda DAILY , what else are going to think , the " illegal alien " issue is the BIGGEST threat since communism .
Erroll @ 80:
I listened to that as well. He is a pontificating blowhard for sure, but he's also made of Teflon, cause try as they might, it was difficult for Amy and Juan make anything stick.
I gotta hand it to Amy, that woman is as level headed as they come, most of us would have shouted FUCK OFF LOU! about a half hour into that interview.
He really is a tool. I just wish Amy Goodman had of brought this subject up in their interview.
Keith's book is coming out on Boxing Day! WOOHOO!
Um, and "educated" progressive? What is the definition of Christianity? A person who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ as written in the New Testament. So, how in fact did Christianity pre-date the birth of Jesus? You do see the CHRIST in Christianity, right?
Even heard of B.C. and A.D.? You know, Before Christ and Anno Domini? Both signifying the BEFORE and AFTER of the birth of Christianity? The "message" of Jesus Christ was not spread until after his crucification, generally starting in the 1st century ANNO DOMINI.
And you were trying to give US a history lesson? HA!
I like Crooks and Liars but you lost me with this post and all your name-calling with regard to Lou Dobbs. Time to take your own medicine and address the ARGUMENTS being made by Dobbs. He's asking tough questions. His stance on immigration is NOT racist and is NOT ideological. It's pragmatic, okay? We all place value on multiculturalism and we wish that poverty in and corruption in Mexico would improve but, look: THERE IS A SUCH THING AS NATIONAL INTEREST. Most of the progressives I KNOW who are intelligent, open-minded people and not KNEE-JERK REACTIONARIES like the neo-cons they criticize all recognize that illegal immigration needs to be dealt with and that the neo-cons are creating the North American Union right under our noses. (it's not even a secret--it's just that no one reports it and most of us progressives get too confused to respond...)
Here's the clip of Dobbs you SHOULD have posted, C&L:

Barbara Key @ 42:
Buddhism is about 500 years younger than Christianity. Back to school for you & Sherri!
Was I just imagining the time a few years ago when Lou was still sort of sane? Too bad. He really hurts his own arguments by being such a prick.
I consider myself a Liberal but I am also a supporter of Lou's!
Christian @ 111:
Alot of people are. When he says he "fights for the middle class", I'm not sure if really does or is trying to win over that segment of his viewing audience, but I know alot of older Democrats who may not be as "progressive" as the rest of us who like Dobbs and watch him nightly.
Dobbs is a freaking joke, when is this fucker getting off the air?
Gee, I guess the Buddhism and Hinduism don't count as "religions" to nutty Christians. What's new!
Anybody who is tired of Lou Dobbs' pontification, nativism, racism and hypocrisy should check him out on Democracy Now, they have the transcript and video clips of the interview they had with Dobbs on the website, and it's like having an orgasm seeing Dobbs being challenged and exposed for being a liar and a bigot! Lou Dobbs happens to be right. That should be worth as much as having a lot of real cute comments.

Rod Porter @ 117:
get your nose out of lou's ass, please!
Liberals would walk over the bodies of dying Americans to help Mexicans - or Israelis, Iraqis, Russians, Africans, or any other foreign people - and they will call you a racist should you refuse to do the same.
I've always been way to the left on both social and economic issues, but I find this anti-American bias among liberals and Democrats totally disgusting.
It doesn't make someone a *racist* or a *xenophobe* simply because they think an American job should go to an American citizen instead of an illegal alien or H1B recipient, and to think that it does only points out your own prejudices.
CoIntelPRo @ 119:
I love KO too, but his criticism of Dobbs was ridiculous.
His argument was that because Dobb's daughters ride horses, an industry that uses some illegal aliens as stable hands, that he employees illegal aliens and that makes him a hypocrite.
That argument is like me saying that because KO eats lettuce, in an industry where a lot of lettuce pickers are illegal aliens, so therefore KO pays for illegal aliens to get into this country.
This tactic is the kind that Billo and Glenn Beck use all the time and they do it because they are blind ideologues and distort the facts.
Then KO went on last night and began calling him a biggot and a racist, which is even more ridiculous because Dobbs is married to a Mexican American woman!
This isn't the first time that the "liberals" have done this. Paul Krugman, the Harvard economist and liberal columnist for the NYT tried to honestly assess the impacts of illegal immigration and did a very extensive study on it. He wrote several articles on it and opened with saying that his knee jerk reaction was to help these people, but when you took a look at the facts on wage suppression, how much they actually paid in taxes vs how much they used social services and impacts on the "safety net"... "the facts are not good."
For his efforts Krugman was also called a racist, a biggot, and a lot of other stuff which is just sheer bullshit, that is thrown by people who have made up their minds on an issue and don't really care to discuss the facts or even the possible range of solutions.
Name calling is the first sign that the person doesn't have a leg to stand on in an argument... that is why they do it in the first place.
Lou Dobbs is a racist xenophobic bastard, and i think CNN should fire him but i know that's not gonna happen. So CNN sucks ass.
I'm very suspicious of someone like Mr. "if we reported it, it’s a fact" Dobbs, as the crusader for the middle class. He seems to have a serious problem with facts and reality . And you have to wonder why the factual errors always err on the side that helps the fear mongering and scapegoating.
When Mr. "if we reported it, it’s a fact" Dobbs is confronted with facts by journalists who don't work by the sound byte drum, he resorts to "you are just ideologues" attack, and he's not one?
I feel bad for the people who's source of information about immigration issues is not just CNN but "if we reported it, it’s a fact" Dobbs. Claiming that you care about and issue is not the same as caring for it. I'm convinced Lou doesn't really give a rat's ass about what he talks about, if he did he would be much more careful with "his facts" and when confronted with reality he would wait no time to correct the record. He probably cares as much as Bill O'R, as long as they are making noise and somebody is paying them the attention "they deserved", that's all it counts.
And I don't think is name calling saying that the whole Mr. "if we reported it, it’s a fact" Dobbs not only stinks of xenophobia but it is consciously feeding of the inherent fear of "the invaders".
K. Santos @ 115:
I think you need to listen to the interview. I'm not a fan of Dobbs but he clearly was not sounding at all like he "couldnt defend himself", on the contrary, he made both of them sound like amatuers
Looouuuuu!
I don't get KO's show here in my part of SC, but catch him on the net whenever I can. I've always agreed with his views until now, I'm gonna catch a lot of shit for this but Lou Dobbs is right about illegal immigration. I don't know what most of the people here do for a living but I've seen first hand how wages are driven down by this. I'm not talking about lettuce pickers or even horse shit shovelers ( although I'm sure a legal citizen will do those jobs if you pay them a living wage) but construction jobs have been taken away by corrupted contractors and given to someone who will work for a fraction of the original pay. Workers who have done this for generations and even legal immigrants cant find work anymore and we feel like pawns between the right and the left, used then forgotten by both sides. Thanks for letting me put that out there.
