A) Someone might want to fill Jonah in on the fact that the fascism is a RIGHT wing ideology.
B) I don't think that one time in the last 7 years I've heard a Neo-Con use the word fascist correctly in a sentence. Fascism, in it's purest essence, is a union of the corporation and the state. And it was a rebellion against 19th century socialism and liberalism.
C) As a side note, al Qaeda is not "Islamo-fascist." The word makes no sense. They are neither a corporation nor a state; how can they be fascist? They're just right wing fundamentalists. But Neo-Cons, cluelessly, continue to use this term every day.
It's all starting to make sense to me. Fascism is the Pig Latin of the new millenium. We have:

So (from reading some editorial review G's book) to be liberal is to be fascist since fascists (or correctly, corporatist) called themselves national socialists. Because socialism is liberal, or many liberals like socialism, or something like that... Something like 6 degrees but Goldberg makes the connection in 2 steps so it must be the truth.
You know that the Federalists were really Nationalists. The anti-federalists (or correctly, federalists) were who got us the Bill of Rights. So how much can be placed on what the corporatists choose to call themselves.
Wasn't George Bush's Grandfather a big funder for the Nazi's or something. I never understand this stuff. Now Bush Jr. supposedly has a lot of dual citizenship Israelis in his administration? I was stunned to see in Michael Moore's documentary or maybe it was "The Corporation" where IBM actually sold a lot of machines to the Nazi's to help in their categorization of Jewish Prisoners. And that Fanta was created so that Coke Cola could still profit in Nazi Germany without getting a bad rap from the association. Amazing facts that far too few Americans know about. Hell I wouldn't know about it if I depended on the educational system or main stream news for my information either. Thanks to the internet we have no excuse but to wake up to these sick realities.

I'd like to see some people's definitions of fascism. I've heard of course it involves a dictatorial like government. But I've heard it originated by Mussolini in Italy and involved the unfettered control of everything by Corporations. Basically the government let money and corporations rule the day. I think Naomi Wolf's book is pertinent in this discussion as well. The 10 steps toward fascist rule or something. The End of America. I hope this wakes up as many people as it takes to get control of this country from the people who would kill a leader like JFK or MLK to get their agenda in the world accomplished. Uhhhh.

But y'all, Fascism is neither right wing or left wing if you think about it. Finance capitalists never supported the fascists in Italy, and Fascists didn't execute entire classes of people. Fascism is just a totalitarian movement with the goal culture of industrializing to compete with advanced industrial societies. And looking at history, communism turned into industrial advancement as well (five year plans, great leaps forward, etc).

Jonah Goldberg is a horse's ass. I really knew that the L.A. Times was in rapid decline when he became an op-ed writer for that paper. It's just shameful that he's got a forum anywhere. With he and his mom in one family, what disfunction they must experience.

Here I must defer to those ancient words of wisdom -- as old as humanity itself:

Or in the words of famous people... of what did the Nazis accuse the Jews? Wanting world domination. The British (and hence America) didn't "enslave" black people; they were simply Christianizing them to save them from "acting primitively" in Africa (by clapping them in irons, castrating them, exploiting them, and killing them). Similarly, the Catholic Church wasn't "evil" in hurting and killing people in the inquisition, but they were, in fact hunting evil themselves (by using perfectly innocent fun and games such as these here). Seems to be a pattern...
Oddly, there was a time (long, long ago) the people that are now called Republicans actually used to fight AGAINST the this idea (that whichever men were in power are holy and sacred, and anyone that complained was a [commie/jew/"nigger-lover"/tory/fascist]). In this long ago time, the MAJORITY of the people thought that the "rule of law" was far better than the "tyranny of men". I know, what a old-fashioned concept. Wait... wait that's not quite true... There was this man named Joe McCarthy. Over 50% of the country supported him, Republican and Democrat (though he was Republican). He also reveled in throwing aside law to in favor of a tyrannical rule by fear and intimidation. Afterwards, over 50% of America looked away and whistled pretending that he didn't exist, and that their own mistaken yet zealous support of him never happened.
Now if someone has a different idea, you simply break them upon the wheel again (or waterboard them). Simple, and fun for crowds of all ages! True classics!
And so we return, and surly soon over 50% of America will say, "Wha.. who me? No, I never supported Bush twice, nor any of the race-bating, 911 fear-mongering politicians in 2006 or 2008! Everybody says that huh? Well. Must have been a 'virgin birth' of an election! All three elections!".
