Via CNN:

CNN has learned that top staff members of Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign were asked to work without pay for the month of January, and perhaps longer, so that campaign resources could be focused on the Florida Republican presidential primary.

Two sources in the campaign, speaking on condition of anonymity, insisted the campaign was not in dire financial straits. A third campaign source, however, said "things are starting to get tight" and that "it was more telling than asking" the senior staff to forgo paychecks beginning the first of the year.

Another source disagreed, saying it was a "voluntary" move by senior staff members "so all of our resources could be targeted toward Florida…Our campaign is not living hand to mouth right now…" Read on...

Concentrating all resources to Florida? You mean, to buy all those ads in Spanish? I wonder if Sean Hannity will come to the rescue and host another Freedom Concert to help his BFF.

Update: Rudy's national finance chair has jumped ship. That's never good...

i have to wonder who was advising rudi that nh and iowa were not important

they may be small states...they may not bring alot of delegates and the winner may not even win the nom....but wins, or close second place finishes do bring in the caishe

just ask obama, who raised 500k the day after his "loss" in nh

But isn't he the chosen one? I mean with 9/11 and all, aren't all us Americans suppose to throw our support around him for saving New York and America after the attacks? I need the media to tell me what I should do. I think I need to cash in my 401k to make sure he saves this country from another 9/11. I may be confusing some conservatives by using 911 and 401 in the same post. When I say 401 I'm not talking about a date.

I'm so glad to see Rudy crash and burn! Not only did he exploit 911. He financially profited off of it. His demeaner is well knowm to be less than friendly, and he is a philanderer. Bye Bye Rudy, ride off into the 911!

KO asks, If you wait to run in Florida, how do you run out of money before you run in Florida.

I guess he is running on the bush policy to spend more than you bring in.

Trittydi's picture

There are potential concerns here about the campaign finance rules being broken. The "free" help from these advisers constitutes a campaign donation. He could put himself in trouble with this one - the greedy blood-sucking bastard.

Tim in Japan's picture

On a serious note, I thought that McCain had also run out of money. How is he keeping his campaign afloat?
I just don't trust stories like these.

His campaign is finished--not that it ever got anywhere. The reason he is in Florida all the time is because they have a HOME there--of course, don't expect the mandarin's in the media to mention that. They have a place in Palm Beach.

Rudy can't take New York winters anymore.

I hate hypocritical conservatives. How can these big business, free market types ask people to work for free? Thats why I never trust conservative business principals, they screw over the people everytime.

Even IF we take his campaign at his word that his top staff forgoing pay is not a sign of financial distress, its still a sign of fiscal and managerial failings. Any GOOD manager pays their people. Period.

P.S. rabid dogs should gnaw on his crotch for days.

080111. Didn't he once say he ran a successful company, so people like B&H who had not done such a thang, were not as ready to run the country? Or was it that his name was on the door to get clients. He did very well saying 9/11 to a paying crowd. Which didn't expect him to be so unable to say anything else.

But they spelled his name right on the business cards. In such a nice font.

jimbo92107's picture

This would be so much easier if he was already president. Then Rudy could simply send a bunch of Secret Service guys over to the US Treasury and bring back some wheelbarrows of cash. Later he could say it was money for the poor or some shit. Whatever.

Joe Schmo's picture

Just to give you guys the low down on how Rudy is viewed from this side of the pond (London, England)... for what it's worth. The media here portray him as a lying fraudster with mob connections, a classic example of a sleazy corrupt US politician. We've no party political axes to grind over here, no partizan propaganda to push. We base our appraisals of people in power simply on the facts. Joe Biden's now famous Rudy put-down (noun-verb-911) has entered everyday UK parlance as shorthand for describing, in a nutshell, that loathsome breed of corrupt politico who makes capital from the bravery of others and promotes fear (mainly of Islamo-terrorism) to further his/her own political and financial ends. We are looking forward to watching Rudy crash and burn.
