Bush's Dance of the Sword: Pathetic

Do I really need to set this up?

Hillary mentioned at MSNBC's debate something about Bush begging for lower oil prices....

President Bush is over in the Gulf now begging the Saudis and others to drop the price of oil," Clinton said. "How pathetic."

He gave them the carrot (weapons package) and then asked them to lower oil prices (they said 'no').

Nice deal for them and BushCo.

Why didn't the Secret Service disarm the fool in the photo?

Is it just me or does every decision this president makes end up screwing America?

So George is now the court jester for the Saudis? So sad...

No, it isn't just you.

LMAO!!!

I think Hillary said his begging was pathetic. She could have gone farther and said he, as a human being, is not only pathetic but also embarrassing to the American people.

Loved the tap dancing sounds. It fit perfectly.

The killer cannot even hold the sword correctly. Give that sucker a drink and a sword, the world's problems are a lot less.

Look, if I went 'round saying I was Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Terry Cunningham @ 4:

Funny, that is exactly how it appears.

The Dem nominee should run this clip with a voice over..."we've had eight years of incompetence, let's now return intelligence and ability to the oval office."

You should post Saddam's sword swinging clip next to this one.

The Saudi guy on the right is telling Dubyah "No more oil George, but you may take this sword as a gift. Now go home and sit on it. "

Glad I'm not the only one who thought he was holding the sword wrong. Seems you wouldn't want the blade side against your neck. I wouldn't. Thank god he didn't try to get cute and start swinging it around or challenge the guys there to a sword fight.

Better yet.."we've had eight years of tap dancing around the truth by this idiot, time
to stick that sword up his ass."

Not appearance, reality. I bet they laugh their asses off behind his back.

What a foolish man bush is. He thinks his personality will get him favors from the Saudi's? The Saudi's hate America as do most of the rest of the Arab world due to bush's cowboy actions and lack of any understanding of what Diplomacy is.

Pathetic is a most a kind word for this absolute fool.

Hey, all you dipshits who voted for him twice; How do you like him now?

He's just rocketing to that 45% approval rating.....

Michael M. @ 3:

In fact it almost seems as if he's deliberately screwing this nation over for profit...but he'd never do that...he only has our best interest in mind...HA!

Spreading Democracy in the Middle East. Hahaha!

Bush: "Well...what do you want?.......(whispering)....."Let me call Larry Flint right now."

itsamessi @ 20:

Spreading Democracy in the Middle East. Hahaha!

Spreading Democracy in the Arab world is like getting the Chinese to serve cheese in China.
It will never happen.

Did they change the music, or do the Saudis really do a sword dance to Tea for Two?

Even more proof we have a puppet government. What a stooge.

It's not so much the price of oil that is going up, it is the collapse of the US$ that is causing the problems.

Mark my words: The weapons Bush is now selling the Saudis will be pointed back at the faces of our troops within 10 years.

Another seed of violence sown.

Dance with the sword, die by the... oops, wrong adage.

I find that almost everything Bush says and does now is pathetic. It is just amazing that somebody this bad could be the President of the United States. Unfortunately I also see a lot of "pathetic" in a lot of the new contenders for his job.

It's very simple - when you're an addict, you will do whatever your dealer wants. And if that includes removing the Prince Sultan airbase to appease terrorists the dealer's nephew, so be it.

Yeah we laughed about that when we saw it on the news. We also really wanted the sword to slip.

And as Marcus A said, and I agree, we have yet again armed a nation that will be our enemy within ten years. When that happens, I say we send all the good ole boys in their pick-em-up trucks and their "pry it from my cold dead hands" guns over there and let them take care of it.

Seems like a pretty harsh word being used by someone who hasn't done much to stop the war, stop the torturing, stopping illegal wiretapping or stopping the sleazy secrecy of the current administration.

In other words, why wasn't she calling him pathetic YEARS AGO?

They should take that show on the road. Fantastic.

What gives? I thought his signing statements were done in crayon because they won't let him handle anything sharp...

Wait wait wait...When did they allow booze in Saudi Arabia?

liberalNmoderation @ 19:

Nono, you slightly misstated that: it's "he has thoughts of the best interest rate he can get in mind." It's an understandable mistake, the Republicans have been confusing the two for how many years decades now?

I just find it funny the amount of crap the administration puts out and Americans in vast numbers swallow the whole stinking pile.

Watching this Idiot with the sword cavorting with one of the most brutal dictatorships any where on earth, should answer all the questions regarding US Hypocrisy!

OK. Next thing you know, they'll be headed off the the men's room together...

Man with little penis want to carry big sword.

Yes, but there are bigger issues here than our President dancing around like a chimp, or the price of Saudi oil:

www.asecondlookatthesaudis.com

Why isn't Hillary, or any other Democratic contender, commenting on any of this?

Here is the scenario...

"Hey Abdula"

"yeah, what's up?"

"Want to bet me money I can make the president of the U.S. dance like a monkey?"

"no way dude. it won't happen."

"how much you wanna bet?"

"I bet you two of my prized camels... no way will he do it."

"Two camels it is."

a little while later....

"hey abdul where are my camels.... ha ha Bush is such an idiot."

1. Good comment about the holding the sword with the blade facing his neck. It kind of says. "I'd cut my own throat to hang out with you guys".
2. I wonder what message the Iraqi Shiites are getting when Bush is seen dancing a war dance with the Sunni? Seems likely to inflame the Sadrists. Sorry troops, oil is more important.
3. I'm sure this tape (not necessarily this version) will be on all the Al Qaeda recruiting tapes and will be quite successful too.

So, in how many places or articles did our lovely MSM say, "Hillary calls Bush PATHETIC" (he is of course but that's not what she said)...it they haven't be watching for MODO and the rest to be writing their little opinion pieces using that meme soon...

Note that Prince Salman holds his blade with the edge facing out or upwards. I understand this was likely a ceremonial/show blade with no real edge, but common sense demands you treat a weapon with respect at all times. (Unless you're Dick Cheney on a drunk dunk duck hunt.)

But, let's recap - Saudi Arabia gets $2 billion in military equipment. Bush got a medal, a sword dance, and a resounding 'no' from King Abdullah.

There's your legacy, Mr. Bush. Another failure to cap off a string of failures, like the three energy companies you helmed.

And did anyone else notice that Bush had a particularly medicated look about him on this trip, with frequent glancing off to the side as if he were wondering where he was, exactly? I mean, even St. Ronnie never looked so lost.

Here's an idea - why don't we stop retroactively criticizing everyone on our side for stuff in the past that can't be changed and worry about what has to be done right now to fix this crap? Every single democrat Senator and representative failed us - including Edwards, Obama, and Hillary: in case you haven't noticed everything is still screwed up. All the Obama and Edwards fan boys need to stop acting like their candidates stopped the war, fixed the economy, and unscrewed the country from the beating it's taken from the Bush administration. Attacking Hillary isn't going to get us anywhere. For once the democrats are less divided than the normally solid straight conservative party line "Goofy Old Party". Let's take advantage of that instead of attacking our own candidates and throwing this election away.

You think we're screwed now? Let a republican win the presidency. There's a lot to lose right now.

I think what is pathetic is that after Queen hillary made her little "pathetic" remark no one has brought up the fact that during the 8 years where she wants people to believe she was co-president they did little of nothing to help get us off of Saudi oil. This oil problem first came up during the 70's well within her claimed 35 years of experience but now she has a plan.

Forgetting the music added (I assume) by a 3rd party, I just can’t shake the idea that the Saudis do this just to make the monkey dance. It’s for consumption by the rest of the Arab nations and the entire world, telling them they’ve got Bush by the balls. And Bush is either so stupid or impotent he goes right along. He’s actually willing to be humiliated before the world!

If ever there was an empty suit it is W. Sigh, he was re-elected? I expect the next administration to investigate the Bush administration for a day by day look at their crimes.

Considering some of the ridiculous things the MSM gets outraged about, shouldn't it be expressing at least a hint of disdain for this?

THE ONLY THING MORE PATHETIC....THAN BUSH...IS THE REPUBLICAN WAR ON SCIENCE....AND THE GLOBAL WARMING DENIERS.....

Put this in your pipe and smoke it deniers: http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2008/1/14/165156/945

The Antarctic ice sheet hits the fan

The global warming deniers (and the rest of us) just can't catch a break: Vast areas of the Antarctic ice sheet -- which has 10 times as much ice as Greenland -- is losing mass much faster than anyone expected. And the rate of ice loss has quickened in the last decade. In fact, 2007's ice loss was 75 percent higher than 2006's.

Jeez, it's almost like ... I don't know ... the whole friggin' planet is melting, and we are to blame! If only we had a group of scientists who would, like, report regularly on the impending catastrophe and explain to us how to avoid it ...

As the Washington Post reports:

"Without doubt, Antarctica as a whole is now losing ice yearly, and each year it's losing more," said Eric Rignot, lead author of a paper published online in the journal Nature Geoscience.
Note to the Washington Post -- one of the many, many reasons traditional media are losing eyeballs to the blogosphere is that your embedded hyperlinks go bizarre places, rather than to, say, the study you are citing!

Here is the link to Nature's story on the article (note to Nature -- uhh, you folks could include a link to the actual study, too). And here, finally, is the link to the article, "Recent Antarctic ice mass loss from radar interferometry and regional climate modelling" by Eric Rignot et al. A subscription is required for the whole article, but the abstract is available:

Large uncertainties remain in the current and future contribution to sea level rise from Antarctica. Climate warming may increase snowfall in the continent's interior, but enhance glacier discharge at the coast where warmer air and ocean temperatures erode the buttressing ice shelves. Here, we use satellite interferometric synthetic-aperture radar observations from 1992 to 2006 covering 85 percent of Antarctica's coastline to estimate the total mass flux into the ocean. We compare the mass fluxes from large drainage basin units with interior snow accumulation calculated from a regional atmospheric climate model for 1980 to 2004. In East Antarctica, small glacier losses in Wilkes Land and glacier gains at the mouths of the Filchner and Ross ice shelves combine to a near-zero loss of 4 +/- 61 Gt yr-1. In West Antarctica, widespread losses along the Bellingshausen and Amundsen seas increased the ice sheet loss by 59 percent in 10 years to reach 132 +/- 60 Gt yr-1 in 2006. In the Peninsula, losses increased by 140 percent to reach 60 +/- 46 Gt yr-1 in 2006. Losses are concentrated along narrow channels occupied by outlet glaciers and are caused by ongoing and past glacier acceleration. Changes in glacier flow therefore have a significant, if not dominant impact on ice sheet mass balance.
Just for the record, the loss of Greenland's ice sheet by itself could raise sea levels 20 feet. The West Antarctic ice sheet would add another 20 feet. How fast could it all happen? Pretty darn fast, just going by the last interglacial.

Anybody out there who still believes business-as-usual energy use won't result in multi-multimeter sea-level rise?

The time to act is now. If not sooner.

Only a lobotomy can save Global Warming Deniers....

Zappa gave us more wisdom* in this form, which to me will now and forevermore be known as "The DubbyaBu$h foreign policy song:

“Dumb All Over”

Whoever we are
Wherever were from
We shoulda noticed by now
Our behavior is dumb
And if our chances
Expect to improve
Its gonna take a lot more
Than tryin to remove
The other race
Or the other whatever
From the face
Of the planet altogether

They call it the earth
Which is a dumb kinda name
But they named it right
cause we behave the same…
We are dumb all over
Dumb all over,
Yes we are
Dumb all over,
Near n far
Dumb all over,
Black n white
People, we is not wrapped tight

Nerds on the left
Nerds on the right
Religious fanatics
On the air every night
Sayin the bible
Tells the story
Makes the details
Sound real gory
bout what to do
If the geeks over there
Don’t believe in the book
We got over here

You can’t run a race
Without no feet
n pretty soon
There wont be no street
For dummies to jog on
Or doggies to dog on
Religious fanatics
Can make it be all gone
(I mean it wont blow up
n disappear
It’ll just look ugly
For a thousand years…)

You cant run a country
By a book of religion
Not by a heap
Or a lump or a smidgen
Of foolish rules
Of ancient date
Designed to make
You all feel great
While you fold, spindle
And mutilate
Those unbelievers
From a neighboring state

To arms! to arms!
Hooray! thats great
Two legs ain’t bad
Unless theres a crate
They ship the parts
To mama in
For souvenirs: two ears (get down!)
Not his, not hers, (but what the hey? )
The good book says:
(it gotta be that way!)
But their book says:
Revenge the crusades…
With whips n chains
n hand grenades…
Two arms? two arms?
Have another and another
Our God says:
There ain’t no other!
Our God says
Its all okay!
Our God says
This is the way!

It says in the book:
Burn n destroy…
n repent, n redeem
n revenge, n deploy
n rumble thee forth
To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side
cause they don’t go for whats in the book
n that makes em bad
So verily we must choppeth them up
And stompeth them down
Or rent a nice french bomb
To poof them out of existence
While leaving their real estate just where we need it
To use again
For temples in which to praise our god
(cause he can really take care of business!)

And when his humble tv servant
With humble white hair
And humble glasses
And a nice brown suit
And maybe a blond wife who takes phone calls
Tells us our God says
Its okay to do this stuff
Then we gotta do it,
cause if we don’t do it,
We ain’t gwine up to hebbin!
(depending on which book you’re using at the
Time…cant use theirs… it don’t work
…its all lies…gotta use mine…)
Ain’t that right?
Thats what they say
Every night…
Every day…
Hey, we cant really be dumb
If were just following gods orders
Hey, lets get serious…
God knows what hes doin
He wrote this book here
An the book says:
He made us all to be just like him,
So…
If were dumb…
Then God is dumb…
(an maybe even a little ugly on the side)

do any of you even know how oil is traded? do you think the President can do anything to adjust world demand for oil other than ask for more supply? Bush asked a major oil supplier to raise supply so price at the pump will fall making it easer for you to get to work and all you can do is talk about the dance.

Hey brain dead...how about alternative energy sources; but guess you've never heard of
anything but oil and gas in your small world.

sorry LA but my car as well as every car being sold in the world only runs on gas. heres a newsflash for ya thats not going to change any time soon.

Oh, and:

And he failed miserably, it appears, and in the meantime only managed to embarrass all of us by dancing like a bloody court jester.

Has there ever been a US President who cold dance reasonably well?

I remember reading that Lincoln liked to dance.

I'm white, and I find that sort of racist comment just a tiny bit offensive. (I have to admit - I dance like the honky farm boy that I am...) With that said, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that video. The tap dancing sounds had me laughing though...

Not so... I own a Low speed vehicle, all electric, called a ZENN (Zero Emissions, No Noise) and I bought it from a dealer in Ohio. They're regulated by law to only go 25 mph, but the technology for highway-capable vehicles exists. When the ultra capacitor technology replaces current batteries things will be even better for electric cars. I love mine, and my partner and I were even chosen to do a testimonial which is on their website:
http://www.zenncars.com/
The base price is around $12,000 and it's a French body design converted to electric in Canada and sold here.

Ye Gods, it's President CMOT Dibbler.

I could just hear the voice inside the Saudi prince's head..."Dance for me, infidel...DANCE for me!!"

After the deaths of JFK and Bobby, the entire country mourned. The actual murders investigated themselves. They are the same ones who would deny us freedom of speech, Why would that bother someone who is not quilty.

In Saudi Arabia heads drop faster than oil.

Funny how they're our allies, after 15 of the 19 9-11 hijackers were Saudis, but the Iraqis are/were (?) our enemies.

Is there writing on that sword?

Is it possible that it has the same script to be found on the Saudi flag?

لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله
la ilaha ill allah muhammadun rasul allah
"There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his Messenger"

I'm trying to imagine the uproar on the right if a democrat had done anything remotely like this.

While kindanasty tinkled on the ivories?

Anybody remember this lil snippet?

"Here’s a president who’s really nonverbal. He’s like Eisenhower. He looks great in a military uniform. He looks great in that cowboy costume he wears when he goes West. ...
He looks for real. What is it about the commander in chief role, the hat that he does wear, that makes him — I mean, he seems like — he didn’t fight in a war, but he looks like he does."

Wonder if Youtube still has Zappas 'Bobby Brown' with all of the Shrub images?

Supply and demand is all well and good, but it doesn't function quite the same in a monopoly. There is no obligation for the monopoly holder to bend to the whims of the consumer, as there is no viable option to threaten their pocketbook. Beg all you want. The Saudis know the largest deposits are under their sand. (Or, we could go to war with China, or start a war with Iran, which will probably turn out just like our war in Iraq.)

As for what a president can do, it's simple. This is a nation that built the bomb. It's a nation that sent a man to the moon and returned them safely to the earth. We build aircraft carriers that allow us to project power around the globe.

We need to put that same know-how and can-do spirit to work on alternative energy technologies, develop the Next Big Thing and stamp it MADE IN USA. Then watch the Saudis squirm when we threaten their market dominance. Tax incentives for energy companies must be structured so as to promote this, not perpetuate our attachment to the petroleum tit.

Yeah..."supply and demand".

Oil Companies - We have all the suppppply...so we can deeemand..whatever the fuck we want!

Lower oil prices would be fine and dandy, but of no use unless we repair the crumbing infrastructure like highways and bridges.

Mass transportation would make the energy needs less chaotic.

Oat shell based ethanol would be better than corn since corn is needful in the production of meat, and flavoring, and oat shells are otherwise just garbage. But you need delivery systems and pumps for these.

We need a moon launch type budget to explore alternative fuels.

But infrastructure, and mass transportation, alternative fuels and delivery systems all call for boucoup bucks.

Meanwhile every publican running for office is talking about tax cuts and lowering budgets.

"The Saudis" have very little power to lower the price of oil.

Once upon a time the price of oil *was* set by OPEC, but no longer.

Now oil is traded like any other commodity -- in futures markets.

As a result, speculation drives the price of oil, not OPEC, not the Saudis.

They could increase production, which could drive the price down a bit.

Or they could buy heavily into the futures market, affecting prices that way.

But the Saudis have no power to set the price of oil. Gone are those days.

Don't think you'll get off scot-free if you're a vegetarian. Farmers will produce less vegetables and soy in favor of high return corn. Soy is key to tofu, so its prices, and milk since cows also eat corn.

LOL!

That dude on the left holding the sword is NOT somebody who'll get invited to the prom, let me tell you.

But I guess that doesn't matter to a Saudi boyfriend. Did they hold hands later?

I am beyond words.

Pathetic

It comes down to economics. The cost of change is greater than the cost of maintaining the status quo.

It's ironic that people who routinely tell us we should be spending and investing wisely won't take their own advice. It's a certainty that a crash-dive project to accomodate a major shift in equities (either war, or something like Chavez/Ahmadinejad convincing OPEC to switch to a different monetary standard) will be far more expensive.

Bush will do anything to appease the al Saud junta. Holding hands on a bike path, french kissing, removing women from air traffic control when Abdullah visited Texas

Just a little something to watch for. When the repub candidates talk about oil, they always say we need to stop relying on foreign oil. They never say oil in general because they plan to drill holes all over the coasts of our country.

Zappa gave us more wisdom* in this form, which to me will now and forevermore be known as "The DubbyaBu$h foreign policy song:

“Dumb All Over”

Whoever we are
Wherever were from
We shoulda noticed by now
Our behavior is dumb
And if our chances
Expect to improve
Its gonna take a lot more
Than tryin to remove
The other race
Or the other whatever
From the face
Of the planet altogether

They call it the earth
Which is a dumb kinda name
But they named it right
cause we behave the same…
We are dumb all over
Dumb all over,
Yes we are
Dumb all over,
Near n far
Dumb all over,
Black n white
People, we is not wrapped tight

Nerds on the left
Nerds on the right
Religious fanatics
On the air every night
Sayin the bible
Tells the story
Makes the details
Sound real gory
bout what to do
If the geeks over there
Don’t believe in the book
We got over here

You can’t run a race
Without no feet
n pretty soon
There wont be no street
For dummies to jog on
Or doggies to dog on
Religious fanatics
Can make it be all gone
(I mean it wont blow up
n disappear
It’ll just look ugly
For a thousand years…)

You cant run a country
By a book of religion
Not by a heap
Or a lump or a smidgen
Of foolish rules
Of ancient date
Designed to make
You all feel great
While you fold, spindle
And mutilate
Those unbelievers
From a neighboring state

To arms! to arms!
Hooray! thats great
Two legs ain’t bad
Unless theres a crate
They ship the parts
To mama in
For souvenirs: two ears (get down!)
Not his, not hers, (but what the hey? )
The good book says:
(it gotta be that way!)
But their book says:
Revenge the crusades…
With whips n chains
n hand grenades…
Two arms? two arms?
Have another and another
Our God says:
There ain’t no other!
Our God says
Its all okay!
Our God says
This is the way!

It says in the book:
Burn n destroy…
n repent, n redeem
n revenge, n deploy
n rumble thee forth
To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side
cause they don’t go for whats in the book
n that makes em bad
So verily we must choppeth them up
And stompeth them down
Or rent a nice french bomb
To poof them out of existence
While leaving their real estate just where we need it
To use again
For temples in which to praise our god
(cause he can really take care of business!)

And when his humble tv servant
With humble white hair
And humble glasses
And a nice brown suit
And maybe a blond wife who takes phone calls
Tells us our God says
Its okay to do this stuff
Then we gotta do it,
cause if we don’t do it,
We ain’t gwine up to hebbin!
(depending on which book you’re using at the
Time…cant use theirs… it don’t work
…its all lies…gotta use mine…)
Ain’t that right?
Thats what they say
Every night…
Every day…
Hey, we cant really be dumb
If were just following gods orders
Hey, lets get serious…
God knows what hes doin
He wrote this book here
An the book says:
He made us all to be just like him,
So…
If were dumb…
Then God is dumb…
(an maybe even a little ugly on the side)

Our current energy policy is too fragmented and small scale. A Marshall Plan of energy independence would be the best investment we could make to secure the future.
