Bush Determined To Strike In Iran
By Nicole Belle Sunday Jan 20, 2008 3:02pmThe Wall Street Journal ran an article last week (subscription req'd) that Bush was using an investigation into a 1994 terrorist attack on a Jewish Community Center in Argentina as a way to continue to strain and maintain pressure on Iran.
The only problem? There's no real evidence that Iran was involved in the bombing:
(I)t is impossible to avoid the conclusion that the case against Iran over the AMIA bombing has been driven from the beginning by US enmity toward Iran, not by a desire to find the real perpetrators.
Evidence? We don't need no stinkin' evidence. Nobody could anticipate the president initiating a pre-emptive war against a sovereign nation on trumped up evidence, could they? Oh...wait...

I hate this man and his entire cabal.
I wonder if they will also look into the bombing of a Muslim Community called Iraq, otherwise known as The Mirror.
Get Chimpy a shaker and some vermouth:
He's ginning up the case for bombin' Iran again.
No more war crimes. If push comes to shove, this time we'll have to sit in front of the planes.
evidence schmevidence
Bombing Iran will be the final death knell of our country. The final nail in the coffin.
Thanks, Nancy, you traitor.
Well one thing is for sure. If Bush attacks Iran, Barack Obama wins.
When one door closes another opens. Anybody but Hillary Clinton, funny thing is because she's a coward she votes for war upon war. Not because she's brave.
even if iran was responsible for a "terrorist attack on a Jewish Community Center in Argentina", what the fuck does that have to do with us?
only a true war zealot and war criminal would try to turn a 13 year old incident, with no american connection, into a casus belli.
not to mention, if this is all bush the criminal has, then they don't have shit. this reminds me of the run-up operation iraqi liberation (OIL).
Project for the New American Century
That's all you need to know.
Don't they need some big disaster or war to declare Marshall law?
They only have 1 year left to pull off another major scam.... or 10 months to cancel the election.
(You don't think that they're gonna let the Dem's take over do you?)
E
bush is a fucking mental case and needs to be removed from office now [Over the top-Sitemonitor].
he is determined to destroy the United States and the World.

I don't think they'll mind that much because there won't be much left of this country to take over.
Just thought you should know that we have been contacted at our blog-site near Houston and several residents have informed us that Half-Empty, a blog of the "Democrats Club" in Fort Bend County and avid Ron Reynolds supporter has been on a mission since September to run-down Dora Olivo (D) TX HD 27. These voters told us that the HE site has been blocking posts meant to defend representative Olivo. Apparently halfempty and a very influential family of bloggers in that community are responsible for this censorship.
I just thought this hypocrisy should be pointed out and the fact that their candidate does take money from some HillCo PAC (Perry Homes) political recipients that are supporting Reynolds. They also continue to attack another TPA progressive blogger for just pointing out the truth about their candidate and his civil case and admissions to the TX bar association.
Very disingenuous, if you ask me. Please look into this if you can.
Yeah, but this would also fuel those in the blogosphere, who cry that the US is actually run by Israel.
Personally, I can't see Bush getting a war going with Iran. Too much exposure over the lies in the run up to Iraq, and a crumbling approval rating. Even his own party would balk at this, I think.
Oh... this isn't new. I'm from Argentina and I'm really ashamed that my gobernment bowed before this as%&ole and began to accuse Iran of the attacks.
This is something that was orchestrated by the Argentinian Jewish community (and this is true. They are putting pressure on our gobernment, because they want us now to declare Iran as an enemy... yeah right, let's accuse an entire country of something that was made by terrorists. And what do you think? this serves to Mr. Bush purposes... what a coincidence...
Mr. Bush thinks he can use an attack where 85 argentinians were killed, to attack a country that has nothing to do with the attacks (there is no evidence against Iran)... Bush, is indeed a great great man, ruinning the lives of so many people around the world... how many people could've been helped with the billions spent of war? And now he will be using the death of argentinian citizens to try (again) to attack Iran...
I guess he's running out of ideas.
George W. Bush: the best President Israel can buy!
365 days and counting. Its a leap-year, dammit.
Serious question, is Bush back on the powder ?
enor @ 10:
Not without a fight. They aren't going to give up power easily.
I think we've been close to a "false flag" incident that would have meant a strike against Iran but was found out and that was the bombs found on the wings of that airplane a few weeks ago. I don't know who was the intended target, Iran, Isreal or us, but I firmly believe those bombs were not put there by mistake.
This man needs to be stopped and Nancy Pelosi needs to stop him NOW!!!! It is past time for impeachment hearings for the MULTITUDE of crimes this man and his regime are responsible for!!!! This is lunacy, it has been lunacy for the past 7 years, and now we are all paying for it. This mad man and the rest of the hitleresque neocons will not be happy until they have started yet a third war in the middle east!!!! Their madness for world domination must come to an end NOW!!!!
The single minded madness of the neocons has ruined this country from within and without. Our economy is shot to hell, we are LOSING, that is LOSING two wars in the middle east, and we have lost our credibility with the entire world. Cheney and Bush must be stopped!!!! It is time for congress to go after them with everything that they've got!!! If there is any hope of saving this country, these madmen must be stopped.

She voted to designate the Iranian revolutionary guard a terrorist organization, which has pretty much given Bush carte blanche AGAIN, just like her Iraq war vote did, Im guessing Obama made a tactical decision not to turn up for the Iran vote.

Awesome headline, Nicole!
Danger Monkey.
This guy is a traitor to the US. And the human race.
The WSJ on line is very buggy. When I go there I begin to pick up porn hits on my history file.
Someone doesn't like them very much.
I blocked all WSJ sites from my computer to avoid porn... and it worked.
Then I did the maintenance and scrubbed all images from my computer and it worked.
so don't go to that site unless you like having that junk on your computer.
All market stories are available elsewhere and there is no need whatsoever to EVER go there.
So I will find this, as other, story elsewhere.
What was U.S. role in Iran during the 60's? U.S. was meddling with their elections and other autrocities.
U.S. in fact was involved in the crisis in Argentina.
When you hear oil, U.S. jumps out to target that nation, makes them weak, and stands tall. With the Saudis, Bush became a Bush.
Yes, of course, Poppy Bush used Saddam Hussein to tame the Kuwaitis and the Saudis. Did it backfire? You decide.
Folks, get the facts and ignore the MSM news. It is controlled and KO and others do not represent the citizens.
"...Bush was using an investigation into a 1994 terrorist attack on a Jewish Community Center in Argentina as a way to continue to strain and maintain pressure on Iran."
He has to travel all the way back to 1994 to prove that Iran is dangerous today? I thought it was all about their having or making or knowing how to make nukes today. Condi better put the muzzle on him before he kills again.
We need to impeach our psychotic president.
Exactly. It is too bad there is no functional democracy in the USA. People can't vote because there is no real difference between the candidates. They represent economic interests. Just look how issues are avoided in an election. What is talked about is "personal qualification", like is he black enough, experienced enough,... What does someone like Barack Obama really want? Change! yeah, nice slogan, that's all it is. Even he does not rule out war with Iran. Pathetic.
Now it seems like a race between Mccain and Hillary. He wants to stay forever in Iraq, doesn't give a shit about what the iraqis think about it. She is a former board member of Wallmart, the minimum wage, no health insurance, chinese slave labor company. She represents the elite, NAFTA and so on. There is no real difference between them.
If Hillary gets 8 years as president, then the USA have been ruled by two families for the last 28 years + 8 years of Bush I as vice president. You have
1980-1988 Bush I (VP)
1988-1992 Bush I
1992-2000 Clinton I
2000-2008 Bush II
2008-2016 Clinton II (?)

Great echo in the title (of Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the US) and of Condi's claims of the inconceivability of using airplanes as weapons. Ouch!
Samson- @ 8:
That's the real question, isn't it?
Many of us have known this all along. Dubya/Cheney will not be satisified until we occupy Iran.
Well we know one candidate that will stand behind him
Bush is living in a fantasy land. Argentina is not our back yard, that kind of thinking is making the entire world hate us.
During the last throes of this misadministration the only thing left is killing more innocent people, what a bunch of assholes!
The neocon madmen need to be held accountable for their war crimes from the past before they commit more crimes against humanity. These fuckers are the scum of the earth, tyrants that need to be stopped.
Iran is like Cuba. They hate Iran, cuz hey, they installed a dictator and the peasants overthrew the murderous thug. How dare those peasants not listen to the mighty US. Why still at them now? Why not? They have no deterrent, like say, a nukular weapon to stop the beast from stalking them. It's a make believe world they've invented. Iran is no more dangerous than New Orleans after a hurricane. It sure is obvious that US governments speak "MidEast peace" out one side of their mouths, and incite wars with the other while supplying arms to each and every "terrist" regime. The ONLY nation in the MidEast that could be deemed a threat to anyone, anywhere, would be Israel, but theyz our buddies. Chaching!!!!!

Where's the god damned surgeon general to remove this lunatic from office?
George wouldn't send us into a war without evidence of a clear and present danger from the bad guys. The problem is, Iran destroyed all the evidence. So we need to invade Iran to get the evidence that they're dangerous so we can justify invading them.
ShouldBeWorking @ 51:
You can be damn well guaranteed that if Iran is not weak, the US will not attack. The US throughout history has NEVER attacked anyone that could fight back, at least not on their own.
Does bush really think he can just fly over, bomb the hell out of Iran and nothing will happen after that? How about all of our troops just over the Iran border in Iraq? Does he think the Iranian military won't take action against our troops there? Does he care?
This isn't a story about a chimpanzee. It's a story about who we are as a nation "behind the curtain". Our primary occupation is war. It's just about all we manufacture now. It is necessary to construct a "bridge" to carry our war plan over the next four years as a hedge against a non-member of our organization being elected (should our best efforts to steal political victory fail). We will pit a black man against a woman in what should be a successful attempt to divide the electorate and disregard the other contenders. We will use our "elected" congress, our government institutions and our media to marginalize and or demonize any person or group who dares to act against us. We will laugh at the elf, Dennis Kucinich , for having once seen a UFO (in spite of the fact that 10,000 people just witnessed same over Stephensville, Texas, January 15, 2008). Our great smoke machine will cloud the senses of the unwashed masses, (whom we so depend upon to fight our war), with images of Britney Spears, professional sporting events, Seinfeld re-runs, and patriotic symbols. We now have but 10 months to build the "bridge" to the year 2012 when we will once again gain outright control, and Iran shall be the raw material with which we will build it. We will not be denied. Peace means bankruptcy. Peace is for dead rock icons.
dadams @ 47:
Huh?
11 and 47, dadams...I couldn't agree more.
Yes, I am angry as hell today. Wanna know why?
Because we are entering a new week of more of the same old lies and crimes and unaccountability of the Bush administration with complicity from a criminal element in Congress, guilty of passive allowance of such crimes to continue, and a feeble media more worried about its corporate wealth than the truth….I am tired of the evil at the top of the elite structure in American society. I am sick and tired of the lies told by those at the highest ends of the hierarchial/white patriachial system of oppression and crimes in American life throwing their weight around to no good end or cause. I am tired of all the lies and the continued criminal enterprise of the United States and the present Bush administration that is selling every American down the tubes and the media fails to do its frickin job!
The Republican pigs set it up so the economy would go under, and that this “surge working” crapola is all b.s. nonsense as its all about ensuring the continued American presence in Iraq.
An economic collapse would mean the end of the social welfare programs the Republicans want to be rid of, so, yes, the economic woes are turning out well for them on the right wing side. All is going according to the plans of Bush-Cheney & Co.
The same media which asked no difficult questions before the Irq War as well as the Abu Ghraib torture scandal are allowing Bush-Cheney and the usual criminals like Joe Lieberman, John McCain, and Jon Kyl, to lie about Iran before the American public once again. As CNN scares people into a Social Security bust, but, of course not until 2041, which is a long way off, if we all last that long. Starting more wars that would lead to a nuclear war, well who the hell is gonna need healthcare or their Social Security check when we are all dead, anyhow?
Joe Lieberman, John McCain, and Jon Kyl, are Fascists and Psychopaths!!!!!! These people need to be stopped already. John McCain is just as dangerous as George W. Bush and so too is Lieberman. These men are carbon copies of the Nazis in Germany.

pissed off patricia @ 53:
you are right on. and to answer your question about the troops.....he does not care and where else can he reduce his responsibility for their care by having them bombed out of existence. bush is a fucking bastard. he does not take care of the returning troops and he certainly does not care at all about the troops in iraq and afganistan.
I don't know. The Bushies are making a pretty compelling case. The NIE says Iran isn't trying to get nuclear weapons but George appointed most of the directors of the 16 intelligence agencies that compiled the estimate. That, and the accuracy of the intelligence that started the Iraq war, is a pretty good case for going with the gut feeling. Bombs Away!
Not sure about the leap from "keeping up the pressure on Iran" to "determined to strike Iran." Now, on the other hand, if Congress starts debating another AUMF, be very afraid.
Bush did say a few words today about MLK day. He said something about we should do something kind for someone and love our neighbor as we would like to be loved ourselves. He should set an example by doing something very kind, like he and cheney resigning.
Has he ever done anything kind for anyone? I don't recall one thing. I know he did hug a little girl who had lost her mom in the attacks of 9-11. Amazingly the photo of him doing that became a campaign ad in O4. The guy is a user and he has just about used up the finances and patience of this country.
Joe Lieberman is a war criminal
John McCain is a war criminal
Jon Kyl is a war criminal
Dick Cheney is a war criminal
George W. Bush is a war criminal
The media who allow Bush-Cheney and Company lies and distortions of the truth regarding Iran and assist in putting out false information-propaganda for them (Bush administration) are also war criminals...Case in point---the media's lies and crimes of omission leading to the Iraq War is one qualifier of the media war crimes in that one. Again, the media is allowing propaganda sheets right of the White House and is not calling the Bush administration on its war crimes of threatening other nations with military force when there is no moral justification under international law. At the Nazi war crimes trials at Nuremberg it was ruled that nations cannot threaten other nations with unilateral military force based on hunches or lack of evidence, solely to coerce that nation at the behest of the threatening one--which is the USA in this case against Iran.
If international law was being strictly applied right now, the U.S. government officials would be on trial for crimes against the peace for threatening to use military force against Iran for no apparent justification as of right now. Yes, the Bush administration is guilty of war crimes as we sit here and post at C&L.
Bush is so desperate that he's now using 15 year old trumped up Gulf of Tonkin events.
but i guess any threat against the human race's masters....the jews...is a "good enough" cause
Look at what Bush's Old Man did with the USS Vincinnes in 1988 right before the presidential election.
Attacking Iran as a political tool is a tried and true weapon in the Republican playbook, but don't listen to me, listen to Michael Dukakis.
US shot down an Iranian civilian airliner. Does that mean the score is settled; or can Iran now retaliate against the US?

These are ruthless warmongering killers too cowardly to ever fight in a war themselves or allow their own children to fight yet think nothing of sending the children of others to their deaths so Halliburton can get no bid government contracts and so the Bush Crime Family's oil fortune can skyrocket. Such as it is living in a military industrial complex economy with lying, greedy, cowardy Republican thugs at the helm. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are little more than accompli to the Regime for not impeaching them. Blood is on their hands too.

he should be more worried about the economy right now
he's going to be remembered as someone who started unnecessary wars and led the economy to tank - i can't believe when I go up to Canada that the US dollar is now equal
what the hell is happening?
I do support Bush on sending rebates - 800 sounds a bit to low though - middle class families should get like 1000 bucks - and i don't give a damn if it stimulates the economy as i'm not a big fan of these "economist," but people are suffering and this money could be used to pay for food, gas, heat, etc. So we all need to get behind that.
But I just know in order to get these rebates through the rich are going to be given sickening breaks in taxes so its a mixed bag and i don't count on the dems to be anything but pushovers

Argentine here too, though live in the US. From what i recall reading about that bombing, it was determined that the group responsible was home grown, right wingers (ex military types)...there is a loooong history of anti-semitism in Argentina. The percentage of Jews in the count of the "missing", tortured, and exiled during the dirty war was far larger than their percentage of the population in general.
Watch Bush on Israeli TV saying he will bomb Iran in the midst of talking about diplomacy. You can't make out what this nutcase is saying.

... Adam Fulford said on 1/21/2008 @ 1:09 am PT...
One good thing has come of all of this. The US media has been exposed at all angles for what it is: overwhelmingly fascist.
Things that Expose the Overwhelmingly Fascist Media for what it is:
1)A blackout of the Sibel Edmonds case
2)Cheerleading George W. Bush's unnecessary and unjustified war against Iraq, although Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11
3)Not honestly reporting on the massive Iraq civilian deaths caused by US bombings and other military actions.
3)Blacking out US soldier casualties, and failure to reveal show the physical damage rendered by the war, such is loss of limb, permanent paralysis, disfigurement. The US media cuts all of those images out, presenting the Iraq war in ways that are more fantasy-like and less realistic and graphic than Pan's Labyrinth.
4)Cutting Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul from debates and participating with the fascist Democratic party in making democracy subservient to corporate interests.
5) War profiteering. In the case of NBC/MSNBC are owned by defense contractors General Electric. Would an investigation into corporate holdings reveal that the entire US media has been war-profiteering?
6)Actively lobbying with great success to erode all remaining anti-trust laws etc. that control their monopolization of the transmission of "news" and "information" (or, more accurately, suppression of it)
7) Fighting tooth and nail against Net Neutrality, so as to eventually control the internet. And stop such inconvenient sites as Bradblog?
8) NBC and AT&T have been stating their desire to filter the internet, purportedly to stop copyright violations, but once their foot is in the door...(suppress dissent?)
Clearly, America's population is finally starting to see what the entire world has known for quite some time: The US Media is overwhelmingly fascist. The Overwhelmingly Fascist Media of the United States serves vile and destructive corporate interests, and is more engaged in suppressing inconvenient facts than reporting news.
a nice going away present to whoever gets handed over power next January 09.

Maybe it's really getting time to form a new party, the Constitutionalist Party, start the trials, and sharpen the executioner's blade.
I wonder if Israel told bush they wouldn't begin serious peace talks until he bombed Iran? He wants peace in the middle east as his legacy and they want Iran out of the way. Seems there might be a quid pro quo.
Obama's Dubious Praise for Reagan
By Robert Parry
consortiumnews.com
January 19, 2008
Sen. Barack Obama prides himself in transcending the old ideological chasms that have divided the American electorate for decades, so much so that he recently cited Republican icon Ronald Reagan as a leader who “changed the trajectory of America.”
Though Obama’s chief point was that Reagan in 1980 “put us on a fundamentally different path” – which may be historically undeniable – the Democratic presidential candidate went further, justifying Reagan's course correction because of “all the excesses of the 1960s and 1970s, and government had grown and grown, but there wasn’t much sense of accountability.” While Obama later clarified his point to say he didn't mean to endorse Reagan's conservative policies, the Illinois senator seemed to suggest that Reagan's 1980 election administered a needed dose of accountability to the U.S. government. In reality, however, accountability wasn’t part of Reagan’s medicine for America. Indeed, one could say the opposite....
On the domestic side, Reagan oversaw the dismantling of regulatory structures that restrained the excesses of Wall Street investment banks, the energy industry and other economic powerhouses. Many of today’s problems – from the mortgage meltdown to the nation’s wasteful energy policies – can be traced to Reagan’s contempt for that type of accountability...
Meanwhile, regarding Reagan’s approach to the world, the documentary record reveals a foreign policy that was one of the most brutal, most corrupt and least accountable in American history...Reagan’s clandestine dealings with Iran and Iraq remain shrouded in secrecy and deception to this day. Also suppressed has been the full story of how Reagan tolerated drug traffickers who operated under the cover of his favorite covert operations (Nicaragua and Afghanistan). [For details, see Robert Parry’s Lost History and Secrecy & Privilege.] Even more troubling, Reagan aided and abetted mass slaughters in Central America, including acts of genocide in Guatemala, but neither he nor any of his senior advisers faced any meaningful accountability for their actions...Obama’s negative comparison of former President Bill Clinton to Reagan also could be viewed as a slap at the husband of his principal rival....
...The oligarchs and the generals had good reason for optimism. For years, Reagan had been a staunch defender of right-wing regimes engaged in bloody counterinsurgency campaigns against leftist enemies....

And the fact that they are being blackmailed. The sexual proclivities of some members (no pun intended) are not what they want the world to know about and the dual citizenship of people like Tom Lantos (if I'm not mistaken) would not sit well with the American public either. Waxman got the word not to hold hearings on the Sibel Edmonds info because people from both sides of the aisle would go down. (no pun intended, again)
Jo @ 6:
It's not Pelosi's fault, IT HASN'T HAPPENED, it will NOT get Congressional approval, and if Pelosi had allowed the impeachment to go forward, it would have failed, and as a result Iran could easily be a smoking heap right now.
Slander the criminals. And look in the mirror sometimes. What exactly have YOU done to stop Bushco?
This a a two-fer for the Bush administration. For several years (basically, since Argentina told the IMF to shove it up their ass), the Bushistas have been claiming an "Arab terrorist" link to Latin America -- specificially to the region where Paraguay and Argentina come together (and, where, incidentally, the Bush family and others, like Rev. Sun Myung Moon are facing opposition to their huge land purchases from impoverished local farmers).
And, let's not forget the U.S. still is trying to sell anti-immigration (from Latin America, but not Europe) as somehow designed to stop "Muslim terrorists" -- forgetting those terrorists fly in from Britain, or drive in from Canada.
Jo @ 96:
That's LYING NONSENSE.
Lantos has throat cancer, and is retiring this year. Other than that, you have nothing but this vulgar slander.
odanny @ 89:
The DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY will not "stand up to these criminals" therefore, you and others, may as well as render the "verdict" that the Dems---are "an accessory to warcrimes."
odanny @ 89:
No, it isn't. Blame the coup on the people in the coup.
What is the Judicial branch doing to uphold the law? A DIALTONE.
What is the FBI doing to prosecute crimes the Congressional committees have exposed? A DIALTONE.
What group of Republicans have joined you in the call for impeachment? A DIALTONE.
What is the vote in the Senate? 75-25 for Bush/US foreign policy as is.
The suggestion that one party in Congress (divided in the Senate) can stop a coup is incorrect. IF there is a transition to legal gov't next year, it will be to a great degree because Speaker Pelosi counted the votes. No matter how much that makes scapegoaters puke.
Nancy Pelosi is good for nothing...she needs to spend more time with her grandchildren and allow her gray hair to show....she has a very bad hairdresser....her hair coloring looks awful.....her face lifts do not help her any more either.
Nancy Pelosi is a vain woman to put it mildly. She needs to get defeated!!!!!!!!! Pelosi is a war criminal too!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a grotesque superstition.
The 'man' is the titular head of a CONSPIRACY, otherwise called a junta. They control the press, they control the justice system (by suppression and cronies), they control most of the Congress (via DINOs elected by the states in the Senate, and Blue Dogs who don't vote with us on Iraq or Bushco issues). They are at war, installing airbases and getting ready to start more wars.
We, all of us, have to stay real with the real enemy, and not run to superstitious religious fantasies that were nonsense back in 100 CE.

Mr. XXXX @ 95:
Thousands of words have been written over the Obama/Reagan flap but it all oils down to one word: "trajectoy". The word is most often used to connote movement in an upward direction. By using this word, Obama lent advantage to the opposition.
Jo @ 107:
This is the constant canard. WHERE are the Republican calls for impeachment?
The media is NOT covering the already abundantly in evidence crimes. The idea that an impeachment effort would unleash the dogs of the public is HILARIOUS.

Thank-you very much. If I am "pathetic" then that makes you doubly so, and Mrs. Pelosi tripled-do'ed. Capeche? Have a Good day and Happy Trails!!!!!!
Keep rooting for good-for-nothing--Bush enablers, okay, dude? Good riddance, my friend....
I don't know if there is a quid pro quo between bush and Israel, but it appears to me that bush and the right-wing leaders in Israel have been more than simpatico in their activities and in the bullshit they both try to get people to believe. All the talk of peace in the middle east from the Israelis has proven hollow, as they continue to nail down occupation of property. bush's rhetoric about democracy and bringining reconciliation is also "new-speak." It's the same bullshit he uses in this country about "fixing" unbroken social security, his lying bombast about "fixing New Orleans", his helping the middle class by giving tax cuts to the rich.
Bonkers @ 3:

Jo @ 6:
... but... but... but what it is really important is to not divide the nation. (sarcasm)
If I follow Mrs. Pelosi "logic" correctly, it seems that in order to not upset a sector of the electorate that would never vote Dem anyways (the GOP faithful), it makes perfect sense for the Dems to subdue the rule of law and ignore the moral and contractual obligation by the house of starting impeachment proceedings.
Is as if prosecutors would refuse to add criminal charges to a person who just murdered a loved one, because the prosecutor is afraid that the trial process may upset the family of the murderer.
GOPers are both criminal and incompetent, Dems are just too incompetent to even be criminal.
Wake me when this nightmare is over please...
Actually, the Dems are just fine enablers, which makes them quite fit to be war criminals.
Jo @ 107:
I worked for TWO YEARS for impeachment, from 2002 to 2004. I have spoken to probably thousands of people about it, even now, on a regular if not daily basis.
COUNT THE VOTES. Until you understand that the Senate is rigged, you don't understand anything.
Hey, try to get Diane Feinstein to vote against Bushco. I dare you. And go down the list of DINOs, and you will find the same thing. Among the Dems in the Senate, Leader Reid is the majority leader BECAUSE he is a milquetoast, BECAUSE the Senate majority is divided down the middle.
Fantasy will not remove the coup. The coup is in power, and their power is weakening, but you could have had it all over with last year, with "He Lied to Us for Our Own Safety" as the media line. The Senate conviction would have failed. And we would CURRENTLY be bombing Iran.
Barney Google @ 16:
"Just call me Bend Over Bush heh heh heh"
Paul in LA @ 97:
... tell you what, you put me in the position of the speaker of the house, with her influence and salary, and we can talk.
Keep electing the same old same old Washington royalty and this is what you get!
I am 40 this year and fed up with this horse shit.
I feel Obama is the closest thing to change we have going.
We can't keep electing OLD PEOPLE who want to be like OLD "Leaders" when what we need now are YOUNG people who are proud to be PUBLIC SERVANTS not your overlords.
We need to increase the numbers in our military, new foreign policy (to end generations old grudges that were put and kept in place for political and greedy purposes),new energy sources, stem cell treatment and we would have the biggest economic boom this country has ever seen as well as having a much more peaceful world.
I mean come on did we really shoot our wad in the industrial revolution??
Are we SPENT??
Is there nothing left to be discovered or invented??
We also need to move past things like petroleum, nookyalur energy and internal combustion engines.
Believe it or not there are new better, cheaper more profitable ways.
You don't keep sending the same families back to Washington representing the same so called special interests and expecting different results.
Take the power and money from them and they will dry up and disappear.
Stop voting for the same old so called changes.
OBAMA '08
He just keeps proving that there is no god, because surely if there were one bush would be struck dead along with all his family.
Tyler Durden @ 117:
This is another LIE. It has zero to do with votes. The Dem party is in power in the Congress, and will pick up an extraordinary number of seats in the next election (provided we have one). It's not about the votes in the public -- it's about the votes IN THE SENATE.
But leftists just imagine that having a (D) after your name makes you a Democrat. LOOK at the Senate. How many R Senators will support impeachment? Maybe one or two. We have 25 votes on the Dem side. That's forty votes shy of conviction. Snap out of it.
I think the point of most people here is it's time for pitchforks and torches. To counsel restraint while this gang is in power, to deny justice to the American people, and to make a statement of national outrage via government BEFORE these fuckers leave this stain on the good name of the US makes Paul in LA sound a little too much like a (concern) Troll in LA
Paul in LA @ 119:
Bullshit...
Congress starts the proceedings, Senate does the conviction. You can not count the votes of a process you have not started.
Following the same logic, a shitload of criminal cases would never make it pass the hearing if the prosecution bets w/o a single day in trial what the final outcome of the jury would be.
If the dems would put the ground work, and make the case. Which is not that hard, it requires just a little bit of work really... so instead of putting 10hr weeks, the Dems in congress may have to put 15hr weeks. Hardly anything to cry to the heavens about really. You can divulge the criminal enterprises the office of the president has been engaged either actively or passively. Since there has been a documented scandal involving the echelons of the Bush administration on a biweekly basis it seems since 2000. There are plenty of charges to bring, in fact in may take more time to decide which charges to bring from the plethora to chose from than to conduct the impeachment process proper.
Once you do that, you can make this admin so toxic that no member of the senate would touch it with a 20 ft. pole. But as I said, it would require for the Dems to do their job. So it is easier to simply pull shit out of their ass, like you just did, do a silly reason why not, enable them... and hope that the next election is won by default.
I am actually looking forward the plethora of excuses the Dems will use when they get their asses handled to them in the 2008 elections.
Tyler Durden @ 121:
Her salary? Speaker Pelosi is independently wealthy.
YOU as Speaker would last ten minutes. She has lived politics from the cradle, and understands how to count the votes.
You realize that the new Speaker put all her weight behind electing MURTHA as Majority Leader? She lost, by a huge outvote. And if you don't know who Hoyer is, you ought to learn about the House Majority Leader, who is the head of the DLC corporate wing of the Dem party.
Speaker Pelosi is a PROGRESSIVE. She is NOT DLC. She tried to disempower the DLC as Leader, and failed because the DLC is plenty powerful in the Congress, and they are about to place their top leaders into the White House in November.
I'd rather have a Progressive Speaker, and so would you. By attacking Pelosi around the clock, you are empowering the very corporate players you consider your enemies.
White Man's Burden always on the march. His "higher father" told him to get all the worlds natural resources into the white hands
dadams @ 11:
"he needs to be removed from office now."
Now is too late. 8 years ago was the proper time. :(
Tyler Durden @ 126:
If you don't, you are done before you begin.
15 members of Congress including Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Arlen Spector, and Patrick Leahy, are calling for Impeachment hearings if Bush invades Iran.
Tyler Durden @ 126:
You are clearly ignorant of the committee work. Conyers already PUBLISHED a clearcut case for 25 major felonies. The spying is obvious. The torture is obvious. The criminal conspiracy is obvious. Sibel Edmonds is obvious. Illegal no-bid contracts are obvious. The illegal cronyism is obvious. The conspiracy to defraud the United States by lying to Congress and the American people is OBVIOUS.
SO WHY IS THERE NO PROSECUTION?
Because politics can't stop a coup that has the support of one of the two parties, and no justice system, and no media that will report these facts nightly.
This year there is a chance to try to impeach Cheney. But you aren't busy doing that. You're busy trying to impeach Pelosi -- which is solid shoot-yourself-in-the-foot territory. By attacking Pelosi and Conyers, leftists have selected two sympathetic faces out of a SEA of unsympathetic assholes who don't support you for five seconds.
Park your heads somewhere other than up your asses with imagination about how much political power you have. We are all of us good people fighting, and I know of no better person in politics than Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Conyers. And Feingold, or Gore, or any other good Democrat you can name would agree.
Mr. XXXX @ 100:
We are being governed by a military junta. However, with a clear majority in the House and a tiny one in the Senate, the burden of where to assign blame in any military action against Iran should ultimately fall with the Democrats, making them more than a mere accessory to these crimes. I stand corrected.
Paul in LA @ 127:
Hahahahahaahaha.......I'm sorry......Hahahahahahahaha......um..Hahahahahahaha........Jeebus H. Christopher man!!! Take yer damn head out of the Dems ASS, we can't see your shows anymore. How much they PAY YOU?
Dude @ 131:
Which is flatly ridiculous.
Paul in LA @ 101:
I call bullshit. As usual, you are an apologist for the spineless democrats in congress (Dodd, Feingold, and a couple of others are obvious exceptions). As far as the courts go, Judge Vaughn Walker REJECTED the executive's assertion of executive privilege on the warrantless spying program and the case WILL move forward IF the democrats let it. But many DEMOCRATS are supporting retroactive immunity for the telcos, which means the lawsuit will go away and immunity will arrive for Bush. So here's a case of the judicial doing its job, and many of the democrats in congress helping the fascist regime short circuit it.
Assisting Bushco in getting immunity or simply doing nothing is the same as stamping your seal of approval on it. It is allowed and enabled by those who do nothing.
You have your head so far up the DNC's ass that the smell of its shit is the only smell you know. This blind allegiance to political parties, be it the Republican Party or the Democratic Party is pathetic. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are worthless. Dodd should be Senate Majority Leader.

Paul in LA @ 127:
You are either related to Mrs. Pelosi, Pelosi herself, or receive some sort of compensation from Madame Speaker (either monetary or in specie).
Calling her a progressive is really insulting to real progressives, like myself. She is a moderate on her best day, so please let's leave it at that...
She is an enabler, in as much as you are her enabler.
I don't much care if she is independently wealthy. It was telling however, that when the protesters showed up in her posh neighborhood in SF. Her initial reaction was to wonder what the neighbors may think. She really is that disconnected with the average people, because it is clear that her office gets plenty of request for explanation of her passivity regarding this administration. I sure as hell, as her constituent, have submitted plenty of e-mails, letter, and phone calls... of which I have received a grand total of 0 responses.
So if she is independently wealthy, enough to be out of touch with the suffering we poor common folk are experiencing, good for her. But since she is receiving a salary each month to be my representative, she better do her damn job. If not she can retire and enjoy her independent fortune.
Anyhow, I am not really interested in reading more apologetic crap from your shilling. So we will leave it at this...
Chris @ 136:
Those are both Senators, but ASK THEM. Ask Feingold if HE supports Speaker Pelosi? Ask him!
Ask Dodd. He'll tell you she is one of the finest Speakers in the history of the body. She broke all records for rollcall votes last year, and with unprecedented high caucus percentages. Dodd and Feingold know that. They also realize that impeachment conviction in this Senate is a pipedream. Ask them.

Tyler Durden @ 139:
Any slander that will fly.
I am related to Pelosi by having followed her career FOR TWENTY YEARS.
To you she just appeared last year -- you missed out on her leading the House Dems to 60% NAY on the Iraq Resolution. You missed out on her opposition, all these years.
I am not a paid political worker of any sort. I am not a member of Pelosi's family or in any way related to her, and I do not work for the Dem party or any organ of that party, nor do I accept your slanders as a substitute for a logical argument.
Paul in LA @ 132:
You are aware, that since most of us are in a computer, with a browser connected to the internet... a 5 second query on google can prove how full of shit you are.
Paul in LA @ 124:
You are such a defeatist I almost feel sorry for you.
Impeachment begins in the House of Representatives. There are hearings. If those hearings uncover crimes the public will know. We all know what the crimes are. We are bloggers. But most people do not know or are not concerned with politics. C-Span has a wide audience and will cover all the hearings. They can't be hidden. The truth will come out. So, after the House hearings the case is handed to the Senate for a vote.
Even if it does not go this far, the hearings alone would cause the public to be more informed and if the Senate votes not to impeach, the list of those voting against criminals will be made public also.
I say let the hearings begin and let the ax fall where it may. And you say no to hearings because.........??? Don't let the Senate's vote stand in the way. Don't get ahead of yourself. Don't be a defeatist.
STEVEinSC @ 143:
If you believe in Hell, that's your problem.
Jo @ 146:
Because you don't understand that you are fighting a COUP, not a legal gov't.
How about storming the White House instead of sitting on your collective asses and letting this douchebag prepare to murder more innocents???
Paul in LA @ 144:
OK, we get it. (Sorry Sitemonitor in advance). We understand. [deleted--no personal attacks.]
