Let's dislocate his arms everyday for six months and see how ambivalent he remains on torture.
What a pig!
I love JS and the The Daily Show but I wish he wouldn't have this pathetic excuse for a human being on it. I'd rather watch a blank screen for three minutes.
'Ambivalent'? The sheer moral bankruptcy of such a comment beggars the imagination.
But at least he's a shade more honest in his evil than those who bleat 'We Don't Torture' from one side of their mouth and then claim the necessity to do exactly those things which were judged torture for centuries.
I dream of a day -- possibly never to come -- when men like Kristol are held up as examples of the worst in human depravity.
I wonder if he'd be ambivalent if the torture were to be a baseball bat up his ass? Then again he'd probably be in rapture...maybe that's where he got his nickname.
Anyone notice how short William Kristol is? It's not noticeable in the clip, but last night John Stewart (who's about 5'6) was a good 2-3 inches taller than him when they greeted each other, and standing on the level stage with each other. Methinks he's suffering from some type of Napolean complex, which could explain a lot about this blood-thirsty hawkish non-military experience prick.
SilentPatriot asks, "Does anything really need to be added?"
no, not on this smug, compromised, lily-livered, shell of a man.
but, i would like to add this:
judge and executioner scalia--
"Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia rejected the notion that US courts have any control over the actions of American troops at Guantanamo Bay, argued that torture of terror detainees is not banned under the US Constitution and insisted that the high court has no obligation to act as a moral beacon for other nations."
seems that injustice scalia is not too ambivalent, he is down with molding ourselves on some sort of nazi version of justice. he needs to be added to the impeachment trial.
The argument against neocon ideologies no longer consists of a "slippery slope" metaphor. That has long since been replaced by a well greased firemen's pole.
Kristol claims to be "ambivalent on torture." Meanwhile, he supports the neoconservative agenda's "moral clarity" on taking us to war fraudulently, killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people, babies, the elderly, young children, mothers, terrorizing an entire nation that was better off before the U.S. invasion/occupation, even under the rule of a terrible despotic tyrant, putting our military forces into harm's way, with the loss of roughly 4,000 U.S. lives, by convincing them that their mission in Iraq was to protect America from terrorists, when it really was to protect U.S. corporate energy industry profits.
Jon Stewart may have thought Kristol's comment to be "human." Maybe Kristol's personal sense of morality is emerging. Better late than never, I always say.
When he comes out and says that he is now "ambivalent" on the U.S. invasion/occupation of Iraq, and on the corporate mediia's complicity in that lie to the American people, then I will think that maybe his sense of humanity is indeed emerging.
Wild Bill isn't a weenie, an idiot a moron or crazy. He is doing a job, representing the military industrial congressional mediatainment big pharma complex and it's interests.
It makes YOU PEOPLE look stupid to call him or Bush or Cheney or any of the neocons stupid. They are the enemy, not morons. They have done a lot of damage to us, while improving their lot immensely.
You may think they will lose this election, but they will win if either candidate makes it to the White House, unless Obama is not who he seems to be.

But but but...I thought she was BROKE! LOLOLOLOLOL! She's out of money!! LOLOLOLOL! The coffers are empty!! LOLOLOLOLOL!! Noo..no..make it stop!! LOLOLOL! What's her next move...fire her hairdresser? Let's shake up the campaign...let's buy a new latte' maker!! LOL!
Wait wait...is her platform gonna contain...campaign finance reform? LOLOLOL!
I'm sorry...I can't help it...this is just so pathetic.
John Stewart, by allowing any idiot with an opinion to entertain on his show, gives people like Kristol an amount of undeserved legitimacy. The dolts who still wholeheartedly believe in the neocon philosophy don't "get the joke" when their spokesman becomes a pariah bathed within the national spotlight. Instead, to them, they see solid rhetoric that substantiates their evil reality.

We will never know if the information that they got from those three men was gotten by water-boarding them. WHY? Because they destroyed the f*cking evidence, erased the tapes.
And now, because of those actions these mens trials may be in trouble because of that fact.
And Bill K., you can't roll around in shit and not be expected to stink.
And he's probably understating his true attitude toward torture. At least since Reagan, Republicans haven't been "ambivalent" about torture; they've been overwhelmingly enthusiastic about it. It was their primary modus operandi, taken to nightmarish extremes, in Reagan's destruction of Central America, but back then they had to deny it publicly, i.e. lie, because the civilizing influence of the 60s on the US public was still strong. That influence is largely gone now and has been replaced by a widespread and belligerent right wing and "liberals" so cowed by cynical charges of "political correctness" that they won't speak up for what's right anymore. So once 9-11 happened, Republicans saw an opportunity to openly advance bringing inescapable pain to helpless people. It was as though they'd been looking for excuses to implement it all along. And despite what they say publicly, they know that torture has nothing to do with getting information and everything to do with projecting power and intimidating targeted populations.

I still believe they knew the attack was coming and did nothing specifically so they could then attack Iraq. They just didn't know how badly the attack would turn out.
I'm curious, if Hezbollah captured and tortured, say, three Israeli infantrymen and proceeded to torture them, would he still be indifferent to torture???

Shouldn't they be on trial also? If they knew, then they were involved.
He's ambivalent on torture. OK. I guess then that he is ambivalent on cancer, on rape, on child molestation.
It would seem that the "Moral Majority" has gotten so smug that they don't care anymore if what they really are comes shinning thru.
They are basically immoral, or amoral, hypocrites, who willsay or do anything to make a buck or to gain some type of power. Gee. I just defined what it means to be a Republican.
Yea the sad commentary that people actually listen to poofters like this.
The mentality wrought by the wing nut fringe is beyond acceptable, A bright spot and ot, Donna Edwards won in Maryland beating the do nothing democratic machine. That speaks volumes to the power we possess, because it is through the efforts of People like Howie Klein, Matt Stoller, Blue America et al, that is us folks, we can defeat this insanity both on the right and the left, those that want to swallow the kool aid will be kicked to the curb and in their place progressives who will lift us, listen to us and participate in what democracy should truly be. From an old hippie(((((g)))) right the fuck on! and...........................................................
.......Fuck you kristol you liver lipped ignorant bastard, your only passport to the place you occupy is through your daddy because you certainly have no discernible talent other than ranting for more needless murder and destruction of humanity.
All that comes out of Kristol's mouth is crap. The man would look at a blue sky and then go on the networks and say it was red. Not sure how he gets to be on all these television shows, but comedy works for him. I know Jon Stewart likes to get this kind of crap on his show, but please Jon. NO more. You've had on Bolton, McCain, and endless wingnuts, and you treat them the same way a FoxSnooze talking head would. So they won't come on your show if you aren't nice to them. Who cares? Kristol wouldn't be in the spotlight if people quit shining it on him.

He should be tortured and asked what he and his PNAC buddies meant by "New Pearl Harbor". The video on YouTube where he is asked didn't contain an adequate answer: "There needs to be a defense buildup, but as history suggests that unless there is an attack or a cataclysmic event like Pearl Harbor, that it's very hard to get people to -- very hard to get the political will for a defense buildup so the threat is brought home". SO the threat is brought home if the threat isn't brought home? WHAT??? Lay down Bill....open wide Bill....thats right -- this should be "just like swimming" Bill.....
Krystal is in a rovian election mode mindset. A compassionate conservatives whose objective is to redefine and soften their rabid hegemony. They play it every election cycle. By Nov they'll pin torture on the majority in Congress.
If one was in a position of responsibility, one would not knowingly violate international law.
Honestly, I love Jon, but how he could leave that remark with a chuckle, a sarcastic remark, a "thank you for coming by" and a congenial handshake is beyond rational thought. I realize Jon wants these people back on his show so he can't really snap on them and the Daily Show is one of the few venues where you actually see Kristol getting challenged (albeit mildly) to his face, but nefarious statements like this cannot be swept aside.
That moment needed Code Pink shoving bloody hands in Kristol's face and a "send him to the Hague!"
I'm so glad to see this post today because I really needed to get this off my chest. I was watching last night and could barely stop myself from screaming at the television and waking my loved ones and neighbors. I know it's been said before, but Kristol is consistently wrong about everything. And that smirk...that constant "I know I'm full of it, but it benefits me to spout this garbage and you can't stop me" smirk. I can't stand what he and others like him are doing to the world and I hate how powerless I feel to stop the madness.
I agree 100% Marko.
Kristol is a dangerous sociopath with several national platforms and access to the powers that be.
Let's not forget that he is one of the PNAC boys, along with Cheney, Perle, Feith, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld and Bolton, who called for a new Pearl Harbor to justify their bloody grab for the world's oil. They got their new Pearl Harbor on a horrible September morning and our country is now in Iraq for perhaps 100 years, which is A-OK with the GOP front-runner.
And I really want to believe that Barak is who he pretends to be, but the fact that his wife is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations gives me great pause...…especially in light of this quote from the CFR Chairman in 1991:
“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march toward a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.”
David Rockefeller
Council on Foreign Relations
I really want the media to grill every candidate on their political and financial ties to globalist organizations like the CFR and the Bilderberg Group. Oh, wait...."we are grateful to the Washington Post..."...I forgot....silly me....never mind.
I really needed to get this off my chest. I was watching last night and could barely stop myself from screaming at the television and waking my loved ones and neighbors.
When Huckabee avoided the "would Jesus torture anybody?" question by saying "Jesus was smart enough to run for public office," I was literally up in the air off the couch screaming at the television.
didnt' sound very human to me. jon stewart has become his own douchebag. how many times has william the bloody been on his show anyway?! more than any so-called liberal, that's for sure.
Tue, 02/12/2008 - 12:59 — Jeffrey Stewart (not verified)
I am sick to my stomach from watching this cretin and Jon Stewart's (not his real last name) craven, ass licking treatment of him. I guess I expect too much from people with a forum like his.
Every time I see one of these PNAC pukes I always wonder what they are grinning, smirking, smiling and laughing at. First off, I know they are "laughing all the way to the bank". The sad reality of them enjoying killing, maiming and hurting other people is sobering indeed. Next they will try, convict and kill the people being held at Gitmo so we will never be able to know their true tales of torture. Pathetic!
I'm kinda sick of the parade of wing-nuts Stewart has had on his show. Kristol, Jonah Goldberg, Chris Wallace, Tony Snow, Peggy Noonan, even Lynne f*cking Cheney fer chrissakes! It's like fascist freak of the week TDS. Enough.
Let's dislocate his arms everyday for six months and see how ambivalent he remains on torture.
What a pig!
I love JS and the The Daily Show but I wish he wouldn't have this pathetic excuse for a human being on it. I'd rather watch a blank screen for three minutes.
I love JS and the The Daily Show also but I can't stand hearing this bloodywilly or looking at it. With him on I just shut The DS off for the night. Sorry Jon. I enjoy most of your other guests though. Seeing the BW takes me out of my humor mode.

I kind-of agree with you - on the other hand - isn't it good to put these lunatics squarely in the voting-public eye?
Understanding that every single one of them is bat-shit crazy helps our cause.
*
I have to say that I am against torture for any reason. Yet when I see this smirking turd I find myself hoping , a little, that he runs into someone with a different ethos and a lot of anger.
The chinese used to very slowly and methodically disect people people alive. Taking days or weeks before the person died. During the inquisition, they would poor molten lead down peoples throats. I wouldn't waste my time 'trickling water up his nose'. I would go medieval on his ass right from the get go...
I imagine one day my grandkids will go on a school trip to "The Torture Museum" and Bill Krystol will have his own exhibit, complete with displays of his bondage equipment and interactive psychological profile touch screens.
former scab John Stewart really loves him some Crystal...and Crystal really loves him some McCain...and Stewart really loves him some McCain...and C&L really loves 'em some Stewart, therefore....
Who makes Kristol appear on the Daily Show? If it's not Jon Stewart's descision, I am ashamed he didn't get him booed out of the studio. If it is him, I'm ashamed he'd give this murderous slimeball another platform. This man shouldn't be walking the streets freely and Jon gets him on TV to chuckle at his unbelievably fascist remarks? I thought Jon would have better taste than to give human garbage attention.
"Is water boarding torture " ..chuckle chuckle , thanks for coming by (hand shake )it's always a spirited conversation ", I guess in a perfect world these neocons wouldn't be on any supposedly liberal show , getting any respect , or getting laughs and an opportunity to look human .
Who else would they invite on Hitler , I mean there has to be a line drawn somewhere . These neocons are the architects of MASS MURDER and DECEPTION and I think it's ludicrous to think a Comedy Show is the best place to go after these guys .
We need to cut the crap out , cut out all the BS and Stewart needs to ask Kristol . WHY did you create the plan for the mass killing of Arabs and the occupation of their homeland ?.
In the end, you either see union-buster 'Jon Stewart' for what he is...part of the dumbing-down/apathy-building machine...or you're one of the sheeple who'll likely run to the burning of their Rome with frankfurters and toasting forks.
Heh. Now the merrie bande of Air America/Pacifica Pergressiffs have their inspiring choice for the next eight years of misery: another Caligulina Maggie Thatcher or a complete weathervane fop with a past full of extramarital sex and cocaine. Oops! Am I getting former Presidents who killed at least hundreds of innocent Iraqi civilians with bogus 'retaliatory' bombing raids mixed up with first-term poseur Land Rover Lib'rul mulatto 'Black' Senators from Illuh Noise?
How'd that Death Of Dream happen, so fast? Where did all the hope go, since '06? Better ask 'Jon Stewart's' producers, and Rahm Emanuel too.
William the Bloody is "ambivalent" on torture? Sounds like an attempt to affect a pretense of possessing some thin sliver of humanity...by somebody who really just doesn't get what humanity is all about.
If I heard him right, this may explain how he really feels about torture. Did he really say, "I'm a bit of a SWITCH on torture" (my emphasis added) or am I imagining things? If he did...wow! It would explain sooooo much in the neo-con mindset.
I agree with Kirstol, especially in a ticking time bomb situation. Even if you could argue that waterboarding or some other "enhanced technique" wouldnt work, I think politically you could lose an election by saying you wouldnt try it. Waterboarding as a last resort or a nuke going of in an american city is an easy choice.
How I would love to take this asshole's legs and use his wirey head for a scrub brush for all the toilets I come in contact with. I'm sure that wouldn't be considered torture either, and I sure as hell would be "ambivolent" about the whole thing.
His smirky ass smile makes me want to get rude in his face. Scum of the earth.
Or, if someone asks you such a ridiculous question, you could say, "Look, that is a stupid and unrealistic question."
Kristol was so oblivious to the multiple failures in Iraq as he was insisting on its wisdom and success, it's as if he dropped eggs on a dirty floor and wants to be congratulated for making an omelet.
Why didn't Stewart point that anyone would say anything under torture? Kristol would certainly squeal like a stuck pig and admit to humping his own mother whilst having copious amounts of water poured down his throat.
I think the only thing wee willy kristolnacht will find torturous is having people laugh lough and long in his face, while he's being his most pontificating.
It's also a speculative, hypothetical, and a rhetorical false dilemma, which is considered a logical fallacy.
kristiolnacht is as into phalluses as he is fallacies.
If I heard him right, this may explain how he really feels about torture. Did he really say, "I'm a bit of a SWITCH on torture" (my emphasis added) or am I imagining things? If he did...wow! It would explain sooooo much in the neo-con mindset.
LMAO!!!! I think he would likely be a "bottom" ...but maybe he does get bossy when all gussied up in vinyl...GAH!!! I just made myself sick.
I can't believe that so many commentators can't even acknowledge that there may be situations in which waterboarding may be appropriate. Of course, the United States cannot be a nation that condones its use in situations that aren't absolutely necessary, but nevertheless, it may never be used under any circumstances?? While the argument that we are a "better" nation than torturers is appealing, I cannot say for certain (I am therefore, ambivalent) how I would feel about tortue if someone like KSM had knowledge of where my kidnapped daughter was being held and people interrogating him thought that waterboarding would help bring her home to me.
Is it really this simple to 'just say no?' Up the circumstances to make you more sure that he knows something -- you find a video in the bedroom of the guy that you have in custody. On that video, you see your daughter in the same room as the guy you have.
Maybe your response is something like, "Well, of course a father is going to arrive to a decision based on emotion and not reason, so his scenario isn't doesn't really resolve whether this is something that we want our government doing." Ok, valid point. But if you as an individual would have moral uncertainty, why is it so impossible to think that the people in government, acting on our behalf, shouldn't also have a bit of moral uncertainty? Partisanship aside, is it in our best interests to tell potential interrogatees that they have nothing to fear while in custody? That they can just shut up while their fellow actors complete whatever plot they've concocted because the US such a great nation?
Ultimately, my answer is that torture should be prohibited because its benefits do not outweigh its drawbacks. Unfortunately, people have to die for us to have the freedom (not the sound bite, campaign ad freedom, but the real ideals of civil liberties secured by the Framers) that we enjoy; the casualties that will be incurred by a no torture policy are part of that. But, unlike many of the knee-jerk reactions in the comments, it is not an easy calculus.

Too stupid a remark to even justify with a response.
lets water-torture (board) william the bloody and see what he says then..
Would love to see him be the frist in line. :o
I'm ambivalent on effeminate neo-conservative assholes.
I'm not, I'd torture him in a second.
Every time Kristol comes on The Daily Show, Stewart makes him look like an IDIOT.
I guess since it happens everytime, it's not just that he LOOKS like an idiot...
Very sad when someone doesn't enough care enough to muster an opinion on such an important issue. Very sad.

I'm ambivalent about waterboarding Kristol, or leaving him alone when we send him to GITMO.
Billy's daddy must be so proud.
I know that JS doesn't want to scare away notable guests but for once I'd like to see him take a hard stand and totally toast Kristol's tail feathers.
I'd bet Kristol went through some kind of cold turkey when "24" was canceled this year.
"that's very human of you"
Bill Kristol is ambivalent on torture and oblivious to sarcasm.

How dare you! It was his moment of humanity.
Orangutan. @ 13:
EXCELLENT!!!! Thanks for this view of what the U.S. of A., and its buddies, has become.
deang @ 43:
I still believe they knew the attack was coming and did nothing specifically so they could then attack Iraq. They just didn't know how badly the attack would turn out.
I'm curious, if Hezbollah captured and tortured, say, three Israeli infantrymen and proceeded to torture them, would he still be indifferent to torture???
Can someone please ask him? I gotta know.
If you're ambivalent about it, it probably isn't torture.
Bangkok Bob @ 46:
Shouldn't they be on trial also? If they knew, then they were involved.
Orangutan@13
Thanks, that was a pretty good video. Appreciate that.
Paying forf the war.

When was the exact date this guy got his lobectomy?
He's ambivalent on torture. OK. I guess then that he is ambivalent on cancer, on rape, on child molestation.
It would seem that the "Moral Majority" has gotten so smug that they don't care anymore if what they really are comes shinning thru.
They are basically immoral, or amoral, hypocrites, who willsay or do anything to make a buck or to gain some type of power. Gee. I just defined what it means to be a Republican.
I'm ambivalent on torturing Bill Kristol.

America holds her breath.
Does anything really need to be added?Yea the sad commentary that people actually listen to poofters like this.
Let's torture Bill Kristol so that he is no longer ambivilent. He'll be able to make a decision.
I am 100%, without reservation, absolutely opposed to torture.
I am not even slightly opposed to kicking the ass of un-American pricks like Kristol.
S[Deleted. Advert-Sitemonitor]
He's an animal like most Republicans. Torture him THEN ask him what he thinks.
He reminds me of the asshole character in movies who eventually
gets his due for being such a dumb fuck.
marko @ 30:
What a slimeball. What a bunch of amoral creeps.
didnt' sound very human to me. jon stewart has become his own douchebag. how many times has william the bloody been on his show anyway?! more than any so-called liberal, that's for sure.
I am definitely not ambivalent on that slime Kristol.
marko@30, this is bang fucking on: military industrial congressional mediatainment big pharma complex
"...it does SEEM LIKE...gave up PERHAPS...that MAY HAVE prevented...." Hmm, tough call - I agree.
.
Bill Kristol supports the use of an illegal act...
T O R T U R E !!!
.
Pathetic!
Anyone who can shake the hand of this liar is dishonest themselves. Doing so after he just bold faced lied to your face is even worse.
Truly disturbing man
jeffenator98 @ 52:
He had his earlobes removed?
Or do you mean lobotomy?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0TYk9JbnWc
I wonder why they continue to have him on the air
I fear that he would enjoy it, in a creepy kind of way.
below_me @ 2:
I'm kinda sick of the parade of wing-nuts Stewart has had on his show. Kristol, Jonah Goldberg, Chris Wallace, Tony Snow, Peggy Noonan, even Lynne f*cking Cheney fer chrissakes! It's like fascist freak of the week TDS. Enough.
Good. Send him to Gitmo. I want to see that smirk disappear.

Simon White-Thatch Potentloins @ 9:
I love JS and the The Daily Show also but I can't stand hearing this bloodywilly or looking at it. With him on I just shut The DS off for the night. Sorry Jon. I enjoy most of your other guests though. Seeing the BW takes me out of my humor mode.
Joementum @ 80:
I kind-of agree with you - on the other hand - isn't it good to put these lunatics squarely in the voting-public eye?
Understanding that every single one of them is bat-shit crazy helps our cause.
*
I thought kristolnacht looked familiar,
He was an actor named harry cox in the gay Nazi S&M film He Wolf: Igor of the SS
Simon White-Thatch Potentloins @ 9:
I have to say that I am against torture for any reason. Yet when I see this smirking turd I find myself hoping , a little, that he runs into someone with a different ethos and a lot of anger.
He is favor of torture if he doesn't like you and against it if it is used on him.
Fat-assed scumbag!
It's actually a more rational answer than Kristol normally gives, although he's still full of crap.
Well good. Give me a couple of hours alone with him in a locked room with a few "toys" and we'll see if I can't change his mind.
First up: Waterboarding.
His comments on torture sounded "human" to you, Jon? Wow. You're more of a kiss up than I realized.
Great to see that former Trotsky-loving modern day fascists can show a human side after all.
former scab John Stewart really loves him some Crystal...and Crystal really loves him some McCain...and Stewart really loves him some McCain...and C&L really loves 'em some Stewart, therefore....
http://theinternetisnotatruck.blogspot.com
Hell, Kristol's not ambivalent on torture. It makes his frankfurter stand at attention!
I caught this live last night, and I was astounded at Kristol's delusions.
I mean, the other times on the Daily Show were pretty bad, but this time was a new league of crazy.
In the end, you either see union-buster 'Jon Stewart' for what he is...part of the dumbing-down/apathy-building machine...or you're one of the sheeple who'll likely run to the burning of their Rome with frankfurters and toasting forks.
Good times!
Good times!
IWANNAHAVESOMEFUNGODDAMMITANDDONTPUTSERIOUSSH*TLIKEBUMMERTHOUGHTSINMYWAY!!!!
I'm ambivalent on Kristol. I''m not sure whether his brain works. Oh, actually it doesn't.
Jonesy @ 103:
Or, if someone asks you such a ridiculous question, you could say, "Look, that is a stupid and unrealistic question."
Boy can the New York Times pick 'em?
Bill would water board his mother.
Kristol was so oblivious to the multiple failures in Iraq as he was insisting on its wisdom and success, it's as if he dropped eggs on a dirty floor and wants to be congratulated for making an omelet.
"Ambivalent on torture" sounds like being a "little bit pregnant" to me.
They should waterboard this little prick and televise it.
This could be a pay per view deal.
Someone could make a lot of money doing it.
Jonesy @ 103:
It's also a speculative, hypothetical, and a rhetorical false dilemma, which is considered a logical fallacy.
kristiolnacht is as into phalluses as he is fallacies.
Dave @ 102:
I'd suck him off.
clearly he is joking when he said he is ambivalent toward torture. He is clearly ambivalent toward water boarding as we all should be.
