John McCain courted his new BFF John Hagee for a long time: Where's Tweety?

Talk2Action is reporting that John McCain has been courting John Hagee for over a year now. I'm waiting for Chris Matthews and MSNBC to have on their favorite Catholic, Bill Donohue anytime now to ask him why he's going after McCain. You remember the hissy fit Matthews had with Stephen Dillard, (who belongs to a pro Catholic group) that was against his other man crush---Giuliani? Donohue with be on with Wolf and CNN later today.
Continuing with today's "politics/strange-bedfellows" theme, Ann Althouse called McCain's appearance with Hagee "disgusting" and posted the following You Tube in which Hagee shares some of his views on the Catholic Church. This clip -- immediately following video of McCain's praise for Hagee and pictures of their joint appearances -- ought to be broadcast on an endless loop on television stations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and other heavily Catholic states from now until November.

I've had to talk with some zionist christians, ok only one but it felt like way too many, and they are all for the apocalypse. They even have a date, when they will be ready to be "taken". When that video began to play, I felt like I had walked in on the middle of a really bad movie. I couldn't make heads or tails of what he was trying to get across especially since his big mural was on the wall and he was talking about the last event while reverting to the first event that was depicted on the mural. I felt like maybe if I had seen and heard about all the events in the middle it might have made more sense. I heard him say Hitler was going to do something but it was either better or worse than someone else had done. Can't remember if it was worse or better because by that time I didn't much care what the hell he was saying.
Well, I hope McCain and he are very happy together.

Being Roman Catholic, I think Donahue is an embarrassment, although if he rants on this and splits the Hannity like bigots from McCain, it will be worth the embarrassment.

John Hagee first came to my attention when he was running around like his hair was on fire yelling at the top of his lungs that the Harry Potter books had real spells in them and the young people reading this books were calling real demons into their home to take over families. I started watching once in a while for pure entertainment factor much like watching Pat Roberson’s head bob up and down just before he says something insane. Hagee once told the story of how he didn’t feel well after a sermon and when home to pray. In the middle of prayer he realized what was really going on and jumped to his feet and ran around the house yelling. You see he realized that some of the women at the last sermon were witches and had put a spell on him. Of course being a real bible thumping christian he was able to break the spell is ok today. I am telling you that is entertainment. :)

Face it people, the fanatics who scream from the extremes of any religion are big losers. This is not to say that all believers are losers, just the nutjobs who inhabit the far reaches of belief. John Hagee will undoubtedly say many inappropriate, bigoted and hateful things between now and November. Every time he does, for the sake of fair and balanced reporting, Tim Russert must ask John McCain if he denouces and or rejects Mr. Hagee's comments. In accepting the endorsements of right wing extremists like John Hagee and Ron Prentice, John McCain can legitimately be questioned on his agreement or disagreement with their public statements and well known beliefs.

wouldn't that be nice? don't hold your breath. i'm not sure what the pope's health is like, but the Catholic Church moves quite slowly. i was disappointed they picked another European (and I say this as an Irish-German Catholic) when there were a number of qualified candidates (there names escape me at the moment, but one from Brazil and one from Mexico?) who wanted to lead the church in that direction. Also, as an interesting side note, two of my great aunts and uncles were close friends with Dorothy Day . . . just to toot my own horn. :)

It's not like John Hagee is a pedophile. Not like so many other "Christian Leaders" that are. We would be fair in saying that right? I mean is he a pedophile? Is that a fair question? Many of the comments said they could not make heads or tails of what the video meant. Reason would say...that is simply because on this blog you are simply listening to a few seconds of what he was saying. It's easy for many of you to say...he's a fruit cake...but in truth if I took a few seoncds of a long discussion you were having or even a "teaching" I could make you look nuts. Is anyone brave enough to either go to his sight and buy a few series like the Revelation one...or take the free way and listen to a complete series (that would mean you'd have to find him on tv and listen for about a week) and find out what he is really saying. Many posters here seem to think they know all about what "Christians" think and believe...but they are way off. I doubt many will take me up on my challenge to actually listen because it is much easier to laugh and condem what you really know nothing about....somehow 30 seconds of video makes you feel like an expert.

Well as a Baptist, John McCain's religion bears more resemblance to an orthodox configuration (like what catholicism practices) than Hagee's evangelical rapturism. So John Hagee' is a) hedging his spiritual bets, b) he doesn't know who he's endorsing, or c) he doesn't know what he is talking about. Looking at some Hagee's past biblical interpretations I would guess it is "c" because he seems to use "...the instruments of a foolish shepard."
