Beware Dick Morris
By John Amato Friday Mar 28, 2008 7:41pm
There are a lot of new people coming to the blogs now more than ever before. I don't have the exact figures, but I'd venture a guess and say many, many more than in the '04 election which is a most excellent thing. I wish the primary had been won already just like many of us because I want to focus on making sure John McCain gets no where near the White House. As we've seen, he's as much a Neocon as Kristol. I've received a tremendous amount of emails asking me about the recent slew of Dick Morris smear articles so I'm posting this video of him since we have so many new faces, (hi!) who probably aren't aware of exactly what the Right Wing Noise machine is or who's opinion we should trust. I will admit that he can give an interesting take every once in a while and I do post those as well, but when it comes to being a filthy concerned troll, there is no worse. Gingrich is also having a grand old time applauding Obama's speech on race and then of course trying to use it to push his own right wing agenda. There are many concerned trolls populating our sites now (David Bossie movies show up too) and it's unfortunate, but that happens in a heated primary. I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't point this stuff out.
As he's smearing Hillary--he goes right into the other Al Gore lie---you know the one---that Al said he created the Internets. Dick also said this about John Edwards supporters not too long ago: 'Edwards voters don’t like the ‘black’ or the ‘female’
You see what I mean?
In '04, Morris said that al-Qaeda wanted John Kerry to win the election too. Thom Hartman called him out on his radio show over his hackery a while ago.
Audio-MP3
In fact, Clinton did not say that Chelsea was jogging "around the towers of the World Trade Center" when the planes hit. On the September 17, 2001, edition of Dateline NBC, Hillary Clinton said that her daughter had "gone, what she thought would be just a great jog. She was going to go down to Battery Park, she was going to go around the towers. She went to get a cup of coffee and -- and that's when the plane hit." From the September 17, 2001, edition of Dateline NBC...
Morris stated: "It's like Al Gore, 'I invented the Internet,' [Erich Segal's 1970 romance novel] 'Love Story was about me.' " Contrary to Morris' assertion, Gore did not say that he "invented the Internet" or that "Love Story was about me."...read on
I write this as someone who knows what our liberal media will do to Obama as well because John McCain has them wrapped around his finger. Eschaton '08 is trying to expose this media problem as well:
The left-wing blogosphere is declaring an all-out war against the mainstream media – desperately concerned that inside-the-Beltway reporter-love for D.C. fixture McCain is already creating too large a mountain for any Democratic nominee to scale.
“This campaign is not going to be between the Democrats and the Republicans,” said Philadelphia’s Duncan Black, who writes under the name Atrios and whose highly popular progressive political blog, named Eschaton, inspired the gathering of bloggers and political activists called Eschacon '08.
It’s between the Democrats and the media.”

"Toe Sucker" ... . ?
Yes, and he's another kind of "sucker" also.
Which I can not say exactly on a family site.
dick indeed
Good luck to them trying to find something to hurt Obama. I imagine Hillary's team has turned over every stone by now. They will rag on this Rev Wright story I'm sure but by then only the people that want to chew on it will and those people were never going to vote for Obama anyway.
John, I saw you on tv a little while ago. You did us proud.
Fuck this asshole. Where was Colmes?
Didn't he work for Clinton? What is his problem?
Just assume that all members of the Republic party lie about everything 100% of the time and you'll have an accurate picture of what's going on.
Hillary should have let this lecherous fool suck her toes.
Earth Hour coming up here in the midwest in 14 minutes.....
And guys like dick-head morris are the "authoratative voices" the right wing nut cases listen to...and believe. We are a nation of idiots.
I like where Edwards supporters don't support "black" or "female."
As an Edwards supporter who is now funneling money to Barack Obama, I have to respectfully disagree.
What a tool. I guess a guy named Dick . . . the jokes write themselves.
all those new people coming to the blogs...
being named as one of "The world's 50 most powerful blogs" must've helped that!
....First...Get control of the media....
OMG, I can't believe you are giving this guy ANY attention. You play right into his hands when you do that.
Don't try to outsmart Dick Morris. To do that, you have to figure him out - what's his angle? Is he really trying to hurt Clinton? Is he hoping the left with respond by running to her? Is he hoping to ingratiate himself with Obama, in hopes of gaining access to the inner circle of an Obama administration, where he can plant the fungus that will rot it from the inside out? You don't know!
The best thing anyone can do with something Dick Morris says is ignore it.
I’m hoping that the only people who listen to Morris are the same people who bow to Hannity and Gibson and Beck and O’Shithead. Those kind of people will never vote for Obama or Hill. But you are right….er… correct John, you cannot lighten up. You and your elves have to keep hammering. Relentlessly. Morris is one of the scummiest bastards on the political scene. Along with Hannity and Gingrich.
Perhaps Hillary would have a bit more standing to complain about that creep Morris if she hadn't brought him to prominence in the first place.
DHSmd @ 12:
I respectfully disagree. Exposing it is the best course of action I believe or soon you'll see hm get a 60 Minutes special with Couric. On H&C Hannity and Colmes each get a block of time and this clip only included the Hannity portion of the interview...
Don Davis @ 14:
Blame the victim [of the lie], eh?
I have said it before and I will say it again this little creep never got laid without paying cash and has never gotten over his jealousy of Monica getting to do what he wanted to do to Bill.
Meanwhile, Iraq is unraveling and the city with all the oil ports (Basra) is getting hammered by the clusterfuck of usual suspects.
This ungodly campaign has now spawned so many sucker-off-ers, pundit-ho's, and mealy-mouthed whiney titty-baby bs-ers that it has become a shadow economy unto itself. When will the necessary work of deconstructing McCain's pathology begin? It should have started yesterday.
Hillary needs to get her panties out of a wad and cowboy up already. Obama cannot be beaten by negative tricks, so when will she join what she cannot beat? That too should have happened yesterday.
Meanwhile, the bombs are falling, and the blood is pooling, and Spring is desperate for a bloom that is not doomed.
The bottom line is: The system does not work for the vast majority of Americans and is broken beyond repair. Read between the lines. The middle class, or what's left of it, will have to bail out the ruling class and will still get screwed in return.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
someone needs to pull this jackasses pants down
and look for dick cheney's hand or head up his butt.
it's time to eliminate all these bastards from the radio and tv.
John Amato @ 15:
Honestly, John. Do you really think this exposure would prevent an MSM appearance by Dick Morris? I think Dick Morris has gotten enough exposure for anyone professionally involved in news coverage to understand the nature of his character. If he is going to appear on 60 Minutes, it will be because someone behind the curtain over there wants him to because of who he is and what he does, not in spite of it.
I may have been too emphatic in my objection to throwing light on him, but given the nature of this stage of the Primary contest, I'm a little concerned about people reacting to what he says - either way. Or perhaps, I'm concerned they will be using it to further their flame-throwing internecine battles that occur in the wake of every post even tangentially related to the contest.
Which is why I followed up my "complaint" with my overall suggestion to those readers of yours who are not already familiar with Morris: "Ignore him."
DHSmd @ 12:
to ignore a problem only gives it more line to sink your ship.
ignoring these guys is why we have 8 yrs of fucking bush.....and people like you
with your heads in the outhouse.
DHSmd @ 22:
I was being satirical with the 60 Min line, but how many times has the MSM uttered the Al Gore lie in print and on TV that he said he started the Internet? Your complaint is a valid one, but I think it doesn't apply to all situations...We just have a differing opinion. I'm not saying you are wrong...Just a different perspective...
I thought it's "concern troll" or "concern-troll". When did "concerned troll" come about?
These DLC Dems have been in bed with the likes of Morris for ages. Is it any surprise that he turns around and bites them on the ass?
Al Gore NEVER said he invented the internet though he and a few other in Congress did help. The right spews the same lies over and over again. When will it stop?
19 L.A. Confidential Says: The bottom line is: The system does not work for the vast majority of Americans and is broken beyond repair. Read between the lines. The middle class, or what’s left of it, will have to bail out the ruling class and will still get screwed in return.

BRAVO!! HERE HERE and danke for seeing it as some ppl do. Correct you are sir or miss. Regardless, thanks for calling it out for what it is. It is what is is.
DICK Morris is a vendictive, toe loving, Hillary hating, Republican butt stroker. He has no credibility. Republican, Democrat, Al Qaeda, just show this creepy fuck your toes and he'll agree with anything you have to say.
Ah, a battle with the corporate media.
Good luck with that John but Americans buy into their bs.
Hell, Jack Cafferty quoted Morris and Noonan and spews hit pieces on the Clintons everyday.
The media bias for Obama is just as bad.
democrats versus the MSM huh?? lol, well we certainly kicked their ass in 2006, now didn't we?? we beat them, AND Karl Rove!
the MSM represents a priveliged few. the web represents EVERYBODY... so, in the immortal words of our Commander In Chief, I say to any MSM lurkers reading this "BRING IT ON!" =)
Just keep pushing back and chipping away, JA. We'll keep charming/cajoling/hammering everyone we know and meet to come here and wise up, and we'll eventually beat them with our groundswell game. The younger generations are more net saavy and spend more time on it, so the long term prognosis just keeps getting better. As C&L and others continue surging in prominence as the general draws near, the netroots will continue to grow as the msmotherfuckers continue to marginalize themselves into tabloid oblivion...
;-}
John Amato @ 24:
No troubles for me, John. I really see and agree with what you are saying for the most part. My intention in the counter-point was less to protest the attention, and more to try to short-circuit what I was afraid could develop from it.
I enjoy these debates, and hope you do as well.
I'm just relieved to see that there has not been as many attempts to turn this thread to the advantage of either Democratic candidate as I was afraid there might be.
To bad the media cant call out this vidictive troll for what he is. Its on blogs or online newpapers that we read for the most part the truth.
what happend to free media and letting the editor decide what gets published?
And what happend to station tv wise managers letting things become aired?
BIG MONEY!!!!!!!!!
aka Rush, check out the song sometime. The band rush not that slime wacked drug addict moron radio talk gasp for air between his time on land and when he has to return to the pond scum to get more food. Bottom dwellers etc.
getalife @ 30:
If Blogophiles spend all their time at the computer, and never share what they learn with anyone else, that will be true. But that does not have to be the case. Each of us has a role and responsibility to make sure the truth wills out.
I personally have begun to write about, talk about, and share articles gleaned from the blogosphere with my Fox-loving friends and family members, and will soon be publishing a column in a newsletter tied to my business that will touch on these things. If approached the right way, many of these apparently narrow-minded people begin to open up as they see the logic of another position, and see how weak Fox-type editorial positions are.
I can't make much of a dent this way myself. But a million bloggers and their readers doing the same thing can make an incredible impact.
This battle has only begun.
Here, here, DHSmd!!
DHSmd @ 33:
I agree. We all want to win the White House so we can reverse the perverse
form of government BushCO. has perpetrated on the US of A.
John Amato @ 37:
Agree with that 100% -- as long as it's Obama! :)
Morris is just another in a long line of crooked Republican dicks including Cheney, Nixon, Morris, Zimmer, Shelby, Mountjoy, Devos, Armey, Lugar and Condoleezza Rice.

Andrew Sullivan Is A Fraud
Hey people,
If this is true
And it is Democrats vs. the media then
Cancel your cable and send your savings to your favorite dem.
yesyesyes @ 11:
YES!
I don't think it would be possible but I would love to see a movement to take politics and corruption whistle blowing news out of the corporate machines. We need a not for profit news media that is actually committed to informing the public about government and corruption.
The corporations can have the murder and mayhem, the entertainment, sports, living, and all the rest but we need a fourth estate that is interested in accountability and reporting honestly on issues not on who said what and distortions and pushing agendas, and this ridiculous "analysis" which isn't analysis at all, it is parsing what if's and maybes.
How can this happen.
Corporate power has run amok.
DHSmd @ 12:
Well yes, except that not everyone realizes what a bastard this guy is and not everyone knows that people lie.
Hard as that is to believe. The things I see quoted as "proof" of one or the other candidates goo points or bad points are beyond reason.
so exposing this jerk is important...IMHO.
I like to go to media watchdog sites but not everyone knows about them.
On the whole it is better to tell what he is I think.
Thanks John.
Appreciate this.
DHSmd @ 33:
AMEN.
It seems there is less of that here (most of the time) than at HuffPo where every thread is hijacked with some real ugliness.
I think we should take out 30-second ads on every media outlet available that repeat for 30 seconds "Saying something that isn't true over and over again doesn't make it true."
Al Gore *was* the template for the uptight preppy in "Love Story," sort of; Erich Segal never denied that was so; and as we all know Gore never said he invented the f*cking Internet. Holy crap already.
Speaking of lying-
Mike Shedlock:
The Securities and Exchange Commission sent out a Letter On Fair Value Measurements, (Financial Accounting Standards No. 157) that is tantamount to being an open invitation to lie. Let's take a look at what some are saying about that letter.
http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2008/03/sec-openly-invites-co...
----------
The SEC is aiding and abetting securities fraud.
Heathwood @ 27:
This is a particular pet peeve of mine...
I have a good friend that worked for Vint Cerf so I got a bug up my butt about it.
Why isn't this on the news every time one of these goobers opens their mouth???!!!
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2000/10/02/net_builders_kahn_cerf_recognise/
Those who did actually invent the internet credit Gore with having the understanding and the vision to see how it could be expanded to the masses and brought forth legislation and educated those in Congress to do just that. We are all in his debt for being the smartest and most visionary Congress critter way back when. That these right-wing nuts keep repeating the lie which is never corrected by anyone in media is a testament to how far they have fallen.
I personally think Clinton is the one most capable of handling the media we have, she's been doing it for more than 16 years and she's still standing. When the media resumes their long time love affair with McCain in the General and if Obama is our nominee they will crucify him and he will fold like a cheap suit. He does seem to stumble when he's asked any hard questions.
Bluesage @ 47:
That's interesting. Would you mind offering some examples?
It seems odd to me that I have read many posts complaining about how Hillary can't get a fair shake in this primary because the media are against her and are slobbering all over Obama (claims which are equally unsubstantiated) and now there's this claim that she would do better in the General because she would be better at handling the media.
I don't get it. Both can't be true, can they? If Hillary can't handle the media well enough to beat Obama in the primary, how in the world would she do better in the general against McCain?
Just one tidbit I'd like to add to that:
It has always amazed me how some "progressives" always seem to wind up bleating about how "we lost in the general election to such and such a reactionary because we didn't nominate the right candidate." Invariably, the candidate we "should" have nominated is more liberal than the one that got beat.
Those statements always get me to wondering how a candidate that was too liberal to win the Democratic primary would suddenly wind up victorious in the general. It seems to follow a similar logic, don't you think?
Oh, great-another "DICK"
Morris was implying this stuff about Hillary when he worked for them! At the very least, he's open about his hatred for her. He's forthright, unlike Limbaugh and his 'Operation Chaos' campaign for republicans to vote for Hillary only to create problems for the dems!
classic morris
If you read the Media Matters article about Hillary's version of what Chelsea was doing that day, and then Chelsea's version, you'd be hard-pressed not to believe Dick Morris' version was less truthful than what Hillary said. Chelsea makes no mention of a jog, much less a planned jog to Battery Park and then around the towers. I'd give this the benefit of the doubt, but most joggers don't get their coffee before they take of for a morning run. Still, all Chelsea said was she went to get a cup of coffee, then went back to her apartment.
CLINTON: She'd gone, what she thought would be just a great jog. She was going to go down to Battery Park, she was going to go around the towers. She went to get a cup of coffee and -- and that's when the plane hit.
PAULEY: She was close enough to hear the rumble.
CLINTON: She did hear it.
Then Chelsea's version:
Clinton had been staying with her high school friend Nicole Davison in her apartment near Union Square for a few days in September before she went to England to study at Oxford. After they had coffee together, Davison went to work and Clinton returned to the apartment.
Davison called Clinton with the news of the first plane that crashed into the World Trade Center. Clinton turned on the television and watched the second plane crash into the second WTC tower, and tried to reach her mother in Washington, but after speaking to her assistant, the phone line went dead.
The point Morris is making is why does Hillary have to embellish the story by saying she was going for a jog around the towers? If you read her statements it does sound like she was claiming that's what she was doing when the plane struck, when Chelsea said she was in her apartment.
And the much bigger point of what Dick Morris was saying, and what this blog to this day has still not said the first word on, was Hillary's whopper of a lie, probably the biggest lie of this whole campaign season by ANY candidate, of her repeated claims that she and Chelsa came under sniper fire in Tuzla.
Please read for yourself- Dick Morris and Eileen McGann's full article on Hillary's need to embellish:
Hillary's List of Lies
Hillary's Soccer Fantasy
The sad fact is, yes, both sides lie. Both sides claim the other side lies more than they do. But Dick Morris has been inside the Clinton inner circle long enough to have a somewhat unique perspective of witnessing firsthand both Hillary and her husband mannipulations of the truth. A much better perspective than, I would contend, Media Matters has of Dick Morris.
Dick Morris, in his characterizations release a tone that sounds intensely hostile with an aversion seemingly derived from anger, or sense of injury from the Clintons, for some reason.
It’s as though Morris is in a trance to wheel a constant slip stream of Contextual side swiping and direct bashing, anything and everything to create a flame with Paradoxical Political grief to burn every form of the living moment Clintons brings to the electoral stage.
Morris knows how to hate, and likes to get paid for it, like most bandits of these new age first line journalist and politico analyst. Now America can tell how they wreak with words of treachery bound to confuse and cause damage where ever taking the bounty for pay to do it.
This Guy, Dick Morris is mad and absolutely abscessed with the Clintons, but so is the Mainstream Media. However, here, all America can view that the natural swing in a way that right wing hate mongering takes shape, like the bloated Rush Limbaugh.
That, right wing conspiracy unfolds flapping its wings with Dick giving it energy, and aid to a huge host of others, Like Chris Mathews, Hannity, and superbly Andrea Mitchell, keeping the political rhetorical monkey shines going 24x7. The Democrats are confused and in horrible insider battles, probably not. It's the Republican's who are confused, as anyone can see the cross overs are draining money out of their war profiteering funds so the Democrats must make up your mind since the Republicans chose McCain, for they can't afford to keep writing checks to the Obama camp.
Hillary once citied for laughing with exuberance enjoying each moment, now those critical Journalist join in the most laughable way with Dick Morris laughing about their thoughtful illusion of truth, and now wonder, and baffled, how come Hillary is still in this game ? Hillary has a secret weapon woven into her Cobalt blue out fit that reflects hate radiations. Dick and others just didn’t figure how to scorch though it yet.
The damage done may already be irreparable. From resurrecting McCain's primary campaign from the dead, to the non-stop reporting of the not-so-factual, how close the Democratic race is, it's difficult to see how anybody can seriously challenge this mob.
The governor of Kansas was on foreign radio saying McCain audio '100 year war.' She also mentioned Obama is from Kansas.
Good catch, Dennis. Even if Morris wasn't completely telling the truth here, Hilliary wasn't either.
a guy like morris can initiate but the talk radio does the groundwork, the uncontested repetition that turns the molehill into the mountain, the lies into myths.
until we get some kind of balance on the talk radio airwaves, such as with a new Fairness Doctrine, so that it is not the sole coordinated property of the OP propaganda machine real democracy or bipartisanship is impossible.
It’s between the Democrats and the media.”
So true. For the BO supporters who have enjoyed watching the media's relentless dirty smearing of Hillary....(in my view) shouldv'e pushed back instead of being complicit in the travesty! Although I will, and I do (Rev Wright) it makes it harder to push back on the same b.s. they pull and certainly will escalate on Obama.
I have always said when Matthews is done doing his best to "pick off Hillary" the next person in his sites will be Barack. I don't watch him anymore but I hear he has "McCain in is heart" now. The thrill up his leg over Obama will be a short lived cheap thrill compared to the devotion he'll show to McCain.
One way of knowing Al Gore never said he invented the Internet
When was either Al Gore or Bill Clinton even capable of making a statement short and simplistic enough to fit on a bumper-sticker?
Other than It's the Economy, Stupid.
Additionally, I bet most people in the country would be for breaking up these few huge corporations who own the bulk of our media, and bringing back the Fairness Act.
A big bulk of the huge amounts candidates have to raise now to run for office is for advertising.
