Every time I see this President I cringe. Between the thoughtless expressions or the dancing on the White House steps, I still can't believe we elected this train wreck. The fact he didn't win any of the debates with Kerry(despite what the MSM said). I remember those debates. So, anyone who says they didn't see this coming is lying! They voted because of FEAR. They allowed this President and Darth Chaney cloud their thinking, believeing there was a terrorist around the corner. I have been vilified and called weak by my own family members because I had the gall to vote for Kerry in 2004. And what do they have to say now? They are remarkably silent on Bush and his minions.

Thanks for posting that video. It was fun to watch and for just a couple of seconds I forgot the reality of it all. We have to allow the comedy to overcome the tragedy ever so often or we'll all lose our minds.

By now, Bush should look like a 'regular' American. Because of all the cake that he's consumed by having his 'cake and eating it too' on so many occasions. this is just another one of his cake-eating moments. well, if we can't get rid of him by impeaching him maybe nature can take care of it by having him choke on cake. it worked with a pretzel. hmm.

liberal Hussein, that's true. But just enough voted for him so he could squeak through. I know many people who voted for him because they were scared. BAGHDAD, March 31 (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's crackdown on militias in the southern oil port of Basra appears to have backfired, exposing the weakness of his army and strengthening his political foes ahead of elections.

I was sitting at the caucus in Maine, checking voters in. In -04 we had 30-40 democrats in attendance, this year we had over 400. They were there to vote for their choice, not to vote in a stooge that the republicans could beat. We had independents waiting in line to change to democrat so they could vote for the person they wanted.

I think the repub talking heads are freaked out by the number of democrats going to the polls and caucuses and are trying to find a way to water down the numbers in the publics eyes.

I second that, but the chances are very slim.
even after they leave office there is little chance that they will pay the piper.

McCain... well, he's a republican and believes in the war and the surge.
He won't go after them.

Obama, he says its time to stop fighting the fights of the past, its time to move on from division and get something done in bipartisan friendship. disagreeing without being disagreeable.
I would guess that this would be considered very disagreeable.

Clinton, she would probably be the one most willing but she would also understand the consequences quite clearly as she has been paying them for years and years! (the whole Nixon impeachment/resignation thing--she found the info forcing the resignation...long story, needless to say where the neo-cons are concerned payback's a bitch.) She would also know the chances of getting any kind of bipartisan co-operation would be nil. Her Presidency would then be seen as a failure and give more fuel to the Hillary Haters.

My brother thinks McCain might go after them... payback for what they did tio him in 2000.

I just had a thought that maybe that is partly why Clinton is so fiercely hanging on. She wants to see them pay for what they have done and knows no one else will do it.

just a thought.
Who knows.

I wonder why no one in the media ever asks McCain how is he going to sustain this war for another 4 yrs or more. Even though I am not a terribly knowledgeable observer, it seems like common sense to question where are the troops going to come from? People are not exactly lining up to enlist. Can the military sustain the current levels of troops in Iraq? Some of them are on their third or fourth tour of duty. What options will McCain have other than to institute the draft? Heck! the democrats should be asking this question. The democratic candidates should ask those who are planning to vote for McCain whether they are prepared to send their kids off to a 100 yrs war.

Lets face it my friends. Unless we get more people to vote, were doomed. I hate to sound morbid, but my God, we can't go on like this. I'm happy that many young people are coming out to vote. But lets not forget, the religious right can be ruthless. They use fear and bigotry at a drop of a hat. The MSM is more than happy to trounce a Democrat as long as big business signs their checks. Actually I think we can thank the neo-cons who conned the religious right.
Rove-et al. I've been rereading some Molly Ivans and her account of the idiot king's rise is chilling, particularly given her folksy humorous way of putting things.

The neo-cons are responsible for a lot of garbage we have to deal with now, they conned the RR, whipped them into a frenzy with their divisiveness. They had an agenda, all laid out in PNAC www.newamericancentury.org and they do whatever is necessary to bring that agenda to fruition. They have no compunction about ruining people personally or professionaly, conning people, disgracing and even jailing people. This is an evil crew and I wish people really understood to what lengths they have gone and will go for their "vision."
We take our eye off of them at our peril.

All the time we spend picking apart HRC gives them so much joy. First of all we are spending our time screaming about her streaming hatred towards her, yet so much of what gets said are the same talking points they introduced 15 years ago. We are continuing their work of smearing and marginalizing and paying back, second while we have our focus directed towards hating Hillary they have even less focus on them and who knows what they hell they are doing, planning, getting away with.

The media doesn't cover it, doesn't care... they want blood and they will get it even if they have to skewer the picture to do so. They do not do their job. For instance Seilegman (Governer in jail... spelling?) why isn't there a huge investigative outcry about this? You get a little vanilla report here and there but nothing major. Hell, we know how many people died in a crane accident, or how a house caught on fire in east bum**** but we don't know what is going on in a case with such horrendous ramifications?
grrrr.

The media have been so sickening in this election with their coverage of non issues, distortions and not covering the actual criminals and what they are doing NOW...
this has been an election of the trivial so far.
Disgusting. I thought they couldn't out do themselves in rotten election coverage with bush/gore... but then there was bush/kerry... i thought that was it, it couldn't get worse, but I was wrong, this tops it all... and the run up to the war coverage of course. They get their man crushes and that's it.

OOPS, I think I am beginning to rant! LOL

What was I saying.
Don't take your eyes off of the neo-cons. ever.

i'm the biggest Bush hater on the planet, but I think I have a way out of this for him: he's obviously obsessed with being liked in history... if he has a live press conference, with NO TELEPROMPTERS, and just admits that things are going bad, that's it's a big mess, and he's resigning, I believe his popularity would SOAR... I might even have a little respect for him... of course Cheney would have to resign too, and I guess Nancy Pelosi would be president.

The surge is working. Another corner turned. The insurgency is in it's last throes. Americans will be greated as liberators. Candy and flowers. Mission Accomplished.

BushCo will lie to their very last day in office admiting having done no wrongs, committed no crimes or admitting to having left America in far worse shape than when they took office. They will never admit to the damage they've done at home and abroad as they work over time to make sure they are never to held accountable while in office and after leaving office. BushCo has and will continue to get with murder, literally and figuratively.

The level of violence is totally irrelevant. As long as Halliburton, Blackwater, Raytheon, Bechtel, etc. are making huge profits, we are winning and must stay the course. That is the true deciding factor.

And I for one, wouldn't gain anymore respect for the man for resigning...maybe, I would if he turned himself in to the Hague as the war criminal he is, and turned in everyone of his accomplices I would have a wee bit more respect....NAAAAH! LOL! Who am I kidding, nothing he could ever do will make me respect him even a little.

Deepest sympathies Gayle.
so sorry for your loss.
I don't know how there will be accountability. I don't see any hope of them not strutting out of office scott free.

I don't understand how they have been allowed to get away with everything they have. Partly we the people just haven't protested, demonstrated enough I guess.
We would have to have massive public acts of civil disobedience and passive resistance to make impact. Protesting in out of the way "free speech zones" just doesn't do the trick. To easy to ignore, the media doesn't have to cover it that way.
"free speech zones." ironic isn't it?

I've tried to get massive snail mail campaigns going... not good at that kind of organizing though. I keep seeing hundreds of thousands or millions of letters being delivered all on the same day to Congress.
Wonderful visually. email is also too easy to ignore. There has to be an actual materiel object-petition, letter, the virtual is just that, it is almost as if it isn't real I think.
Hmmm, have to think about this.

Thanks for sharing with us Gail, again, heartfelt sympathy.

Yeah... I hear ya Patty and E. Lemming...I am hopeful one day, and a doomsayer the next...I just can't believe, after all the illegal activity by this administration...that they'll just walk away from all the power they created for themselves...
I'm thinkin they will have to be forced out...

Do you think any of these candidates will give any of the powers and over reaches back once they have the office. I'm sick and angry (and very, very tired from working a double shift) that I think this country deserves to collapse in on itself. This is what happens when you vote from "moral high ground" and against your own self interests. In a very near future there will be gated communities and slums nothing more.. no middle ground... And I certainly won't have any of the securities of the gate.

Well, I bet out of the candidates...Obama seem more likely to defend the working class...I don't believe he's the evil powermonger that HRC or McBain appear to be...but he IS, after all, a politician...so who knows...one thing I DO know...if given the chance, I will vote for Obama...if it's between HRC and McInsane...I'll hold my nose and vote HRC...while still evil, she's far less evil than McFlipFlop IMHO...that is if we even have an election...if we're not rounded up for daring to dissent against tyranny.

I understand your desire to not vote for Hillary Clinton. I would like to say though that I don't think calling her evil or a war monger is helpful... it feeds into neo-con talking points. I'd really like to see Progressives take back being Liberal and stop the hate mongering that has been fed into us by the neo-cons.

sorry, not wanting to start an argument at all, just think that keeping the focus of who is actually responsible whee it belongs and want to try to get ourselves together and unified for a Dem, rather than "if I have to." I understand the dilemma but I also understand that the division and Hillary hate is exactly what the neo-cons want and delight in. I don't want to give them that pleasure.

BTW, one positive thing you can say for Hillary is she so pisses them off! It must gall them that she hasn't ever let them win in their battle to destroy her.

That has to give her some street creds in my book.

He gives drunks a bad name.

When I listen to it (when I can stomach it) :
All the s l o w i n g down to pronounce words, he said "Asshurney General" the other day ... that or he is being given very strong narcotics to go out and perform.
I'm expecting him to break out into "Cabaret" any second ...

I wonder what sort of drugs...strong anti-depressants perhaps?.... they are keeping him on. That is not normal, sober speech!! It's not!

They are remarkably silent on Bush and his minions.

do not worry about thier silence on the bush family, im sure they dont hold that against mccain!!and all will be as it was before!!!!!!!!!!

Tell you what, as soon as HRC retracts and explains her votes for the IWR, Kyl-Lieberman, and against the banning of land mines for example. As soon as she returns all the contributions of the Defense contractors, that chose her as their main target for their donations. And as soon as she explains why she made up all those stories about being under snipper fire.... and as soon as she explains why she decided to change her political affiliation from being the president of the college republicans chapter in her school to become years later a founding member of the trojan horse that is the DLC.

As soon as she gives me good explanations for all that, I will stop calling her a war monger neo conservative. It seems only fair. I am fucking tired of having to give the benefit of the doubt to people I can't trust them as far as I can throw them. Sorry, she wants redemption? She should earn it. So far she feels entitled to the White House, and I will be damn if I am going to allow another blue blood jackass to get in the house that we all built. Fuck that... enough.....

Gayle, I am so sad for you over the loss of your son. Have you tried uniting with other parents and family of the over 4000 lost in Iraq, as well as wounded, to present your outrage as a solid voice with ultimate credibility?

Yes, I have worked with www.mfso.org (military families speak out)
before my son was killed and now with www.gsfso.org (gold star families speak out)
My group meets with senators and congressmen and we speak at many different venues. Yes, we unfortunately have ultimate credibility but we have been unable to get people to look at this war as a personal and urgent concern, as it's been for the 1% who carried the burden.

My son, who died in May 06 before just before the 'surge' and was buried in Arlington now has the company of rows upon rows of tombstones of young men born in the '80's who have died during the so called surge...the ground in Arlington is being filled with the doomed youth of this country who found themselves caught up in this catastrophic war and a commander in chief who betrayed them. There is much to say about the complicity of the top layers of the military who allowed themselves to be part of this betrayal.

How will we end the slaughter? When will we put these criminals in prison? When will there be accountability?

Condolences, Gayle. I will never truly understand your pain, but the frustration and anger I feel when I still hear other people complain that 'bashing the President is unpatriotic' or is 'supporting terrorism' I want to have seizures and give them a nice drop kick to the face for being so utterly asinine.

A kid told me that my anti-bush shirt that I created was hurting the troops. I told him in so many words that a dittohead could understand to 'shove it.' This is certainly dark times when this logic prevails over a good chunk of our population and has held our government and civil society hostage.

I'm tucked away on the other side of the Pacific so I don't get to see all that goes on in your fair country, but something that has intrigued me ever since the last Presidential election is how Rove and co managed to get bin Laden to endorse Kerry - what was it, four days before the vote? What a masterstroke of kneecapping that was!

It was just so perfectly timed - long enough for all the knuckle-draggers to hear about it "Well hell, if that Osama is votin' for the Dem-o-crat, ah bedder git in behin' ol' Dubyer", but not enough time for the impact to die away. And it sure did the trick.

Has there ever been discussion or any kind of leak about how that cynical little coup was achieved?
